I am an Indian... And for me despite the euphoria of T20... Test cricket is still the best form. Watching it with my dad when India plays Australia or England. Every single ball being a bullet and every single bounce being a story on its own.... Test Cricket is absolutely beauty... The way you live a game for 5 days is peak cricket
Bodyline bowling is still my fav thing.
Cummins spell in gaba against Pujara is still front of my eyes.Taking bullet in body and then Pant destroyed them ❤❤❤
for me ODI abd Tests are the best , the matches seem serious and the players have to put their everything to win the match , Batsman has to play all kind of shots to be in the competetion there is a real need of skill there not the randomly bashing of bowlers like in T20
I think odi has the sense of both T20 and test
Don’t forget Ashes bro 🤍 … Aus vs Eng
Even I prefer Tests & ODIs over T20
These formats might not be as fast paced but are usually of a higher quality
A good test match is one of the most exciting things to watch, but at the same time a bad test match is one of the most boring things to watch
"colonisers and their lack of spice". I'm dead 🤣🤣
MS Dhoni is an emotion ❤
I like how she unknowingly guessed there is a concept of tea in test cricket 😂😂
People who watches “what is cricket “ videos and judges that 5 day test cricket is stupid and crazy doesn’t know the real essence and beauty of Test cricket and obviously they can’t understand coz it can never be described in few videos.
Test match is not boring sometimes because it tests the temperament of the team at the end. Who survives..
I agree
most importantly it tests the skills & techniques of the players
Oh it can definitely become boring even if exciting stuff is happening (like Jaiswal scoring the best debut score in the latest match).
But I love Test Match more than T20 even then!
@@kvm6When test match has exciting moments they tend to be more nerve wrecking than an ODI or T20.
One, because there is even battle between bay and ball and two there is no over limit so the tense moments can be prolonged.
@@nikhilreddy8550 Oh, I know that! I was just saying that it can get boring too even if records are being made.
And as I said, I love it more than T20.
I think BCCI is right in ruling that Indian Players are not allowed to play for foreign franchises because IPL earns from Indian Public and given the magnitude of our viewership why would we want to help other countries earn billons by our population. Also Indian best players earn Millions each Week, why will they go some other country to get few thousand dollars for one month. Now when Cricket comes to US even US Govt will create an environment to benefit from most from the game. Every country has its own self-Interest certainly when India needs of faster GDP growth why wont we attract more companies in our backyard.
A few days ago Iran's National Cricket Team Head coach requested BCCI to train their players and build International cricket stadium in Chhabar. He also said that their cricket players take inspiration from MS Dhoni & Virat Kohli. However, Saudi Arabia also showing so much interest and seeks help from BCCI to bloom cricket in its country.
As long India is loving cricket cricket is surviving

Jaby they knew business better , that’s how they have made it so far .
Changes are about to come with franchise owning players rather than countries . This is something is on its way
What Jaby isn't understanding is that if Indian players wont play in these leagues the viewership of these leagues isn't ever going to match the IPL.
He has half knowledge and giving inputs to the billion earning market 😹😹🤦
Sachin was the main reason Cricket became popular in India
99.99% people only clicked because of MSD 😂💘
Just because you did doesn't mean everyone fid
22:28 when shukla said that indian players are not allowed to perform in any other leagues abroad is majorly because it is a tight schedule for players already , if they compete in other leagues then it would affect their performance in the international games like in the world cup
It's mainly preserve what u call USP,if our players perform in other leagues the uniqueness of IPL will be lost and so will be the brand value
Yes also the fact that the point is international games are your time to earn glory and premiere leagues are when you earn money. You can't, in any way, let money interfere with Glory. So no getting distracted by these premiere leagues. You want money.. we'll get you that through our premiere league. Now what you have to go out for... yk
But there's a loophole. Did you notice it only said male players? That means female players are free to participate. Woo! Woo!
Adding to the point of BCCI not letting players to participate in other cricket tournaments. I think you'd also have to consider condition of the players. India plays highest number of international matches in a calendar year. If you add in the IPL into the mix and other domestic tournaments as well. There's hardly time for them to participate. Also, you'd have to take in physical fatigue that a player would have when there's no break in their schedule and are more prone to injuries, which would be a huge blow during events like World cup.
That's not justifiable i mean, there are players other then those 15 who play international matches year around... Its purely about monopoly and losing market share to other leagues.
@@harbinger_1984 I didn't deny that now did I. They just wanna make their pockets deep. The same happened with Ambati Rayudu, he did play in ICL while BCCI warned players that they won't be considered for the international team. He just got lucky, that he could come into the team.
@@yeshwanthsm5298 and according to me, that's a wrong thing.

i think if we need to make cricket famous we need not want international games and only need a world cup in 4 years and rest should be franchise like the epl , nba etc

In 90s the BCCI paid money to broadcast cricket. And now it earns Billions
Even now BCCI doesn't take money for Asia Cup. It always donates it to better another team, like last time it was Nepal!
Not allowing to play for other leagues is quite a simple but effective strategy. You can watch big English ballers clash with West Indies's batsmen in Australian cricket league, Carribbean cricket league, S. African cricket league and so on.. but to watch a clash of english ballers with Indian batsman; or Indian ballers with renowned Australian batting line up you gotta wait for IPL. And given the fact the Indian fans are providing this huge viewership to IPL, so even though Indian audience follow cricketers from all over the world, they still have have a soft spot, a longing a special interest for Indian players. So in this way you hold the audience with you, at the same time not letting your rivals grow.
It also helps that India has one the best, if not THE BEST cricketing talent pool in the world apart from already established big names. So you protect them too.
Plus too much of diamond in the wild will deteriorate the value.

Indian players can play abroad .
But they can't afford our international players because bcci pays a lot and keep them away from injury .
Actually BCCI not only sponsers South African premier league and other countries local leagues ( owned by Indian businesses men )
But countries like Australia n England have their own autonomy but Indian population contributes their viewership also .
India , Australia , England rules the Cricket world board .
With India contributing 80% its revenue , hence the monopoly.

Hey jaby BCCI is not trying to stop change it is just a strategy to not fall in a pit of holes. Foreign cricket has dates issues with Indian leagues and it's tiring for the players of the international Indian team. even after the IPL, Indian team doesn't give the desired outcome than fans gives their reaction in different forms sometimes more violent than you ever thought.

San Franciso Unicorns
Washington Freedom
Seattle Orcas

Hey Jaby, there is one league currently going on in the US called MLC. The 2023 Major League Cricket season (also known as the 2023 MLC) is the inaugural season of the Major League Cricket,[1] a franchise Twenty20 cricket league established in 2019 by American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) in the United States. The season is planned to be hosted at two venues, Grand Prairie and Morrisville. The season is being played from July 13 to 31, 2023. There are few ipl frenchise which have tweaked little bit of their name and are playing in this tournament such as : CSK playing as TSK(Texas super kings) and MI playing as MI New York.
as an Indian let me tell you something, I don't remember when i learned those rules of cricket it was just there since as long as i could remember.

When Lorena said that brits would go for a tea break 7:34 and go jog instead of run 8:36 that really cracked me up. Couldn't be more true
Recently i had chance to visit Lord's cricket stadium in London. Where the 1983 World Cup final was played, and India won the final. The tourist guid at stadium mentioned that "As the India won the world cup in 1983, the power of cricket went from England to India." That line feel so powerful to me, like literally all the dynamic of cricket really changed after IPL.
As in tour of lord's stadium the guid asked each one of us where all people came from, and i mentioned i am from Pune. The one old man from group said to me " Why you are here? you should be watching Cricket world at Pune." It was really wholesome moment for me.
In love with Lorena already... ❤
I swear they have reacted to same/ similar videos like 3 times already from Bloomberg itself ....😂
Yesssss, I also feel like i’ve watched jaby reacting to this very same video 😂💀
It is called monopoly. India has the biggest cricketing stars, and their non-participation will keep fans away from other leagues.
@cinedesi - indian players were stopped from joining foreign league only those who already joined in IPL because it has happened now, since many franchises have started and some games do intersect between different franchises but on the same day, so players are torn in between and unable to fullfill their contract with franchises.
The 5 days cricket which is the "test cricket" is an absolute beauty. Ironically it is more intense than the other formats.
Learning Cricket is easier when you play it!!!
❤
I love the fact that this documentary uses the correct term to describe the IPL, which is "glamor". There used to be first-class cricket which was popular, and then there was the format of ODIs, which gave higher popularity, but the actual explosion of popularity started with the "franchise" model and the intense action of twenty-20 matches made it more interesting to follow.
9:06 Yes, Lorena, it is kind of frustrating for the audience to watch for 5 straight days, and watch the match conclude in an inconclusive way. On the other hand, it is also a tactic for the teams sometimes, when their rate of run-scoring is not fast enough, just to hold on their wickets long enough to conclude the match in a draw.
11:25 That's a pretty accurate summary of the 1980s in terms of the Indian cricket stage. Pre-1980s, Indian team wasn't regarded as great. The team under the leadership of Kapil Dev turned the whole image around, making India as a "star" team, and raising the prestige of "Indian cricket" to a competitive level.
14:10 The IPL did add all the glamor, with all the cheerleaders and the opening ceremonies, brand integrations directly into the team franchises and direct match sponsor companies running their version of glamor. As they mentioned, this made IPL, not just into a league, but into a television spectacle event.
21:50 Yes, Jaby, that is in fact the BCCI flexing its muscles because it has become one of the most dominant forces in the International Cricket stage. It's nothing more than the BCCI attempting to grab onto power and prevent its power from being usurped. If countries like the UAE or Qatar start their own cricket leagues, then they can pour in more money to make sure that the eyeballs gravitate towards them, simply by auctioning in many more famous players to fill their rosters, which would pull the big brands away from the IPL, weakening the BCCI's revenue stream.
A suggestion: If you guys could get Lorena to sit for a movie reaction, get her to watch "Lagaan". It is an extremely well done movie, which gives a nice introduction to cricket, and has that tension associated with the sport itself, as key plot moments.
Cancel LOREANA ABREAU bring back ACHARA pls@jabykoay
It's not as simple as flexing power. Players can get injured and fatigue is a thing too. Lmao, India plays the most number of games already in WTC test cycle but "minnows" like Zimbabwe and Ireland don't, so they CAN allow players to play in other leagues.
@@kvm6 I agree that "off seasons" is part of the thing to let the players have some rest, but the wording of the order explicitly allows for IPL, while explicitly banning participation in external leagues is a bit sus, looking more like holding on to power. If mandating the "rest seasons" was the key thing, the wording would have mandated an "off-season" forbidding participation in ANY league for a couple of months per year for taking rest.
@@prabhatsourya3883 So, when is the Off season for Indian players?
@@kvm6 That's what needs to be fixed, not a blanket ban on players willing to participate in external franchises. Blanket bans are never the perfect solution, and often do more harm than good.
@CineDesi I am so happy that jaby is still wearing the breaclet given by Vidyut Jamwal.
Le me correct....we Indians don't watch it like movies....since we are passionate about it we watch every move of the ball and bat even act as a coach trainer mentor or player , give inputs strategies even if all of us failed to be active as the player. Such involvement makes you enjoy.

Cricket get interesting when you have some ball left and you have to score certain runs and in between that if Wideball and noball comes then it gets more spice to it.
To summarise, est Cricket is the most pure form of classic cricket shots and moments
T20 cricket is where the money and viewership lies
The real cricket is test cricket.
It tests player physically, mentally and players will learn alot.
Test cricket is the highest form of cricket. No matter which country it is being played in. Test cricket is excellence. It is where sports becomes an intellectual debate and discussion.
Jaby if you want to know the quality and consistency of a player, Most coaches recommend 5 days cricket, beacuse the level of focus it takes to strike, leave or let the ball hit your body is immense. It's not easy to stand on crease for 90 overs (generally 1 day) which is 540 odd balls and face them without giving your wicket away in any means. Some players do this for 2-3 days shows the level of concentration they achieved. While the opposition fielders trying to sledge batsman verbally so that he loses focus and get out.

India doesn't allow Indian cricketers to play outside just to create exclusivity which helps them to generate much audience through maintaining exclusiveness of those big named players!
its because of that reason that Cricket is not gaining traction in other countries like US. Cricket will only gain traction in countries like the US if their teams are formidable enough to compete in championships. Talent will not be produced organically in cultures like the US, where other sports are more popular. Enthusiasm for Cricket, can only happen in nations like the US if the IPL exports some of their best players there to play for them.

The packed cricketing schedule for Indian players throughout the year serves as part of a broader business strategy. While the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a major component of this strategy, Indian players are also heavily involved in various other cricketing events. Their schedules are carefully managed to ensure their fitness and availability for national team commitments.
To maintain the players' fitness levels and prioritize their contributions to the Indian team, specific restrictions are applied. These restrictions may include resting players for certain matches or series, rotating players to manage their workload, and providing ample rest periods between matches and tournaments.
In recognition of their contributions to both the Indian team and the IPL, players are generously compensated. They receive substantial financial rewards for representing the national team, as they are centrally contracted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The contracts are based on factors such as performance and their overall contribution to Indian cricket. In addition to their national team contracts, players also earn significant income through IPL contracts, sponsorships, endorsements, and various commercial opportunities.
Overall, the tightly packed cricketing schedule, along with the restrictions and compensation, are all part of a well-planned business strategy. The aim is to strike a balance between players' participation in international cricket, their involvement in the IPL, and their overall fitness and well-being. These measures ensure that Indian players remain competitive on the field and are rewarded both financially and professionally for their contributions. That is why they are not allowed to participate in other T20 leagues.
There is a video that explains cricket to baseball people! A very good explanation drawing parallels between the 2 sports!
like "Movies" there is no retake before camera on field, thats the beauty of sports.
*BCCI Is POWERFUL & RICH!*
*The Thing Is They Also Prohibits Players From Participating Because It Will Put Strain On The Players, As The Schedule Is Already Pretty Strenuous And When It’s International Cricket… Meaning World Cup Or One Country Playing Against Another, Where We **_NEED_** Our Players To Be Fit, Give Their Best AND Win For The Country! If Our Important Players Get Injured, Strained, Exhausted Or Give Preferences To Leagues Than Winning For Their Country, **_It Will Become HUGELY Problematic._* 💀

I can say that 😂You are true BCCI focussed on money ,but I also support that ya it's weird but it is
Jaby the reason for players playing different league around the world to earn money that set. IPL and BCCI itself provide so much money to the indian players and apart from that indian players earned million of dollars through their colabs and commercial that even if BCCI allowed them to play in all leagues then also apart from new young players no one will go to play because they r earning very good here and their rest focus will be play for National team INDIA. So this is the main reason.

Its lot diff from baseball, for a fahct there are 5-6 bowlers/pitchers who bowls, you can score runs/ play shots 360 degree all around the ground vs baseball where runs are only forward hitting. In cricket ball comes after a bounce generally not directly on the plate so it is difficult to judge the bounce and swing while baseball you care abt only curves and swing

Correction: all the major IPL teams are involved in many other country leagues. They've different teams in different leagues with almost the same names. They are riding the change, but the players are the gold that BCCI can't afford to share.
And that's why some talented but overlooked players have resigned from BCCI and IPL permanently and are now playing for USA or other leagues
