    When you use the type of miter saw you used, cut against the wall away from you. Then you don't need a clamp.

    Buffalo arms makes a light black powder load great patterns just the cleaning is more intense. Smokeless is ok with light bird/trap loads

      +stonedimaculate1983 If I were to do mine over again, I would do one thing different. Instead of filling the area between the barrels with J.B. Weld, I would put stainless steel wool in the hole, add some flux, and fill it with solder. I think it would look much better in the end. Did you order your shotgun from Simpson LTD?

    • @stonedimaculate1983

    I have an old 16 gauge damascas steel double barrell shotty ,, nice looking gun but my ex girlfriend was moving it with one hand when I told her to use 2 and didnt ,,, she dropped it and it hit a corner molding and put a dent in one of the barrells,, Because its damascas all the smiths I called to repair it didnt want to becuse they cant guarantee the steel wont split/crack so I am going to just shorten the barrels , its at least 100 years old and have never shot it anyway ,, but that dent is hard not to see

    I've heard if you don't recrown the muzzle you can get stress cracks at the muzzle. I cut a couple down and was careful to recrown mostly just by using sandpaper wrapped around my thumb, which is tedious but not terrible. Any problem with cracks since this mod?

    • @webster7710
      @webster7710  11 місяців тому

      None so far. While I trimmed a lot of it out of the video just for brevity's sake, I did show myself cleaning up the muzzle, first with a file, then sandpaper. If issues arise, I will absolutely keep everyone informed.

    Waht were the choke sizes after you docked the barrel compared to the original choke sizes? Many thanks!

    • @webster7710
      @webster7710  Рік тому +1

      They were originally full chokes, after cutting they are cylinder bore.

    Gotta love nz, you can have any legnth, just as long as overall is 30 inches, you can have 14" coach guns

    • @webster7710
      @webster7710  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, Canada's weird. We can have shorter barrels if they were made that way from the start. I could go out and buy an 870 with an 8" barrel, but I can't cut my own shorter than 18". Go figure.

    I always thought that the legal limit for the barrel length of any shotgun was
    anything over 18in? Not anything over 18.5in?
    Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @webster7710
      @webster7710  3 роки тому +1

      No, you're right, it's 18" in this case. 18.5" is only for semiautos. I had an annotation correcting myself but UA-cam got rid of those.

      You did a great job on that double barrel shotgun.
      Considering taking my New Stoeger 410 coach gun from 20 inches
      to 18.5 inches.
      Wonderingif it's worth the effort.
      Who am I kidding!
      I'm probably going to do it! Lol!
      (I love a good project!)
      Thanks for the vid.

      Stay safe and healthy.

      Yeah, I do generally stick to light loads, because it's an old gun and I don't want to beat it up unneccesarily. I'm not afraid to shoot it, though, and have brought it out hunting many times. Is there something you noticed about this gun in particular that makes you say that?
