Great comparison. Love both of them. I have the CHZ22 and I love it for my EDC and I'm considering the CPL28 for minimal travel. Thanks for all your reviews, keep going I love the channel;)
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I really appreciate the support! And even tho I liked the 26 I feel like the 22 might be the more ideal size for me and the cpl28 is a really solid travel bag, I was surprised just how much it could hold at under 30l!:)
wanting to hear from a actual owner:) thinking about getting my son who is starting college, the CHZ26, recommend? wanting comfort #1 and ability to have enough room for books
Hey Danny! I love your thumbnail! It's very entertaining lol. Nice video as well!
Thank you for watching and I’m glad to hear you liked the thumbnail!:) I’ll definitely be experimenting with a few more in my upcoming videos!
I've been using the cpl24 v2 for those days when I have to carry my laptop and for over nighters. Love the independent volumes of each compartment. Whenever the chz22 v2 comes out I might get it to replace my daily gr2 21L.
Thank you for watching and I can definitely see the cpl24 being a very solid minimal travel bag and the pocket layout is just awesome! I’ll definitely be curious to see what type of updates a chz22 could come with, hopefully that’s on the way!:)
Very useful video.
I think the parts of your videos where you show the bag on your body from different angles (including mentioning your height) is very useful.
Especially in these comparison videos I think it would be a useful addition to put the images from the different bags side by side. It simply gives such useful insight into how the bags will actually look. This could also be done in single bag reviews (not direct comparisons) by the way, by comparing the body fit look directly with some competing models that you'd consider.
Regardless, thanks :-).
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I appreciate the suggestions for future videos as well definitely something I’ll need to think about!:)
Awesome review 👌
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback!:)
Thanks for the detailed comparison. Though i have a lot of bags like these and even more tactical bags. I always find myself still using more my old 5.11 rush 12 for edc. Most bags just dont have the large detailed admin section like that has, and its harness just makes the bags feel weightless on my back. Cheers and God bless.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I’ve heard so many great things about the rush 12, definitely hope to check that one out in the future!:)
Thank you for this comparison! I went with the CHZ26. I have no need for a full zipper or separate admin or laptop areas. I love having an open main area to use how I see fit. Makes it more versatile for non-work activities. Note that the new 2023 material doesn’t attract pet hair like the old material did.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! Very happy the newer fabric doesn’t attract as much lint and dirt!
long term review so far on the chz26?
Nice comparison. I have the original version of the CPL and have been thinking about getting one of these two. Not sure yet which I'll go with. Think the CPL would be better for my channel. Interesting note on the Wire-Dopp.. I heard it was actually originally designed by Jack, the Evergoods CEO so he always has it in the official Evergoods' loadout videos. Would almost guess he had it in mind when designing the volume of that mesh pocket ;)
Thank you for watching and yea that’s definitely a tough choice especially if you have the V1 cpl that’s still a really solid bag! That’s interesting on the wire Dopp as well, I did catch that he had those in the load out videos and I remember before Goruck re released the wire Dopp mini I was so jealous whenever I would see them on Evergoods site! :) haha
Hi Danny,
As always, nice detailed review.
I have a few comments/questions on the CHZ26l:
- I have an almost 20” torso and saw somewhere that the natural curvature of the bag digs into the lower back. Do you feel it does that to you? How’s the shoulder comfort when packed out over entire day?
- to access the laptop, can you bend the top back part of the quick access back to access the laptop easier when packed out?
- the price difference of almost 20% makes this bag attractive
Conversely, the CPL24/28l have better separate organization than the CHZ26l and each compartment doesn’t eat into one another which is thoughtfully well designed. I only wished it had a side water bottle meshed pocket like the CHZ26l (but I don’t prefer the laptop compartment being exposed and together with the main compartment)
Hopefully we can have a CPL28l v3 that adds this water bottle meshed pocket.
Thanks again for another informative review!
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the es video was helpful! For the chz26 I haven’t noticed any issues with the bag digging into my back as of yet, I think the 22 might have been riskier for that for my height and so far the straps have been pretty comfortable even over a longer day but in general I’m not as of a fan of the Evergoods straps as the ones on bags from Aer, Mystery ranch tortuga. For removing the laptop you can slightly move the pocket out of the way and it’s definitely easier on the 26 that it was ok the 22 but I agree it’s still not as nice as having the separate laptop sleeve and that would definitely be awesome to see a cpl with the same water bottle pocket!:)
I Am Tourist Driver in Jordan , i used to drive tourist to Petra - wadi rum - most interesting sites in Jordan , i already see many of this with tourist, bst wishes
I hope I can go to Jordan one day
I think an externally accessible laptop pocket, possibly it's own section in the back of the bag separate from the main compartment, would make the CHZ much more appealing to me. The thought of moving stuff out of the way in a fully packed out bag to get to my laptop is really a turn off. I could maybe leave a clam shell if they did that.
Thank you for watching and great point! An externally accessible laptop area would make take the chz to another level!
Interesting, I find I can fit more in my CHZ22 than my CPL24v1 (not even using the water bottle pockets). Guess it really depends what you're packing.
Thank you for watching! For sure, given the simpler layout of the CHZ it can really hold a surprising amount of stuff!
Would love to see a comparison of the Patagonia Mini MLC 26 vs evergoods CTB 26
Thank you for watching and good callout! After testing these both there’s definitely some overlap as far as features and both are incredibly well rounded!:)
Hi Salseros, great video! Does the CHZ 26 stand on its own? Thank you
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! The bag can stand on its own when it’s packed out at the bottom, but it can be a little inconsistent depending on how the weight is distributed in the bag
thx for this video! do u recommend getting the CPL v2 if I already own the v1?
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! The v2 does have some improvements that might make it worthwhile (improved laptop sleeve and some additional organization), however with some of the changes that evergoods added to their new travel bag I would wonder if it’s worth waiting for a v3 (that may be a while away tho)
Love the comparison. The “pet hair” issue that every reviewer mentions is one reason why I stick to my GR1 Slick (Huckberry x GoRuck collaboration).
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! The GR1 slick is a great looking bag as well and that’s great to hear it doesn’t have as big of an issue with the pet hair!
Hi i suggest you take a look at the aer tech sling 2 i think you might like it
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion! I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on one to test out!:)
Please do CPL 24 vs Aer CPP!
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion! Both are definitely solid options
advice? looking for son for college; needs: COMFORT, room for textbooks/a lot probably, water bottle (not internal), some organization. on my radar right now is the Synik 30, Waterfield Pro, Evergoods CHZ26 (wish the 28 but no water) and the Greenroom Rainmaker. The Rain would be best I am sure for books but risky purchase since can't return. The only way I would get is if someone could say, "I have the ... but much prefer the Rainmaker". Would appreciate your input since this is a heavy investment for us. Thank you! May I add, I appreciate you do not use bad language in your videos!!!!
Thank you for watching and definitely some good options there! Compared to the mystery ranch / north face / Fjallraven bags I mentioned in my other comment, I think the Synik 30 would be another good option but it is pretty big for a daily bag and pretty pricey (although the organization is second to none). The chz26 is a solid school bag but I don’t think it’s quite as comfortsble as some of the other bags I mentioned especially on the back as it doesn’t provide much ventilation. The rainmaker is another great option that is durable, offers great organization and it’s really cool how much you can customize it! It’s straps are not quite as comfortable as those from north face and mystery ranch but it works well and it the price point is also pretty reasonable. I would say the rainmaker is not necessarily better than the bags you are considering but just as good. Hopefully that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional question I can help answer about the bag!:)
@@dannypacks thank you again! Off to research 😃
@@dannypacks mystery ranch seems odd the way it opens , seems more for clothes ???
@@dannypacks I failed to mention the Aer Tech Pack2; familiar? the question I have there is would it hold the books? looks a bit narrow in the main compartment
I just sold my tortuga setout laptop.
I'm looking a replacement for bag around that size which I use for my carry-on bagpack on the airplane and daypack during my travel.
I am thinking of aer travel pack small or this. Could you help give recommendation or alternative. Thank you
Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice there! The travel pack 2 small is going to have a little bit better weather resistance and I prefer the harness system on it, but I really like the organization and size of the cpl 24 so it might be the one I lean towards. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer!:)
Love CHZ 26😁
Thank you for watching! I have definitely been impressed with chz26 so far!:)
Answer please, Is it possible to fit a liter and a half bottle of water in the side compartment? Thank you
Thank you for watching! I believe evergoods has said the max it can hold up to is 1 liter, even that might feel a little tight in the compartment imo
Does these Evergoods bags make your back sweat?
Thank you for watching! and yes my back does get pretty sweaty with these bags compared to others. The back panel in the CTB35 and PLC20 seems to be moving in a better direction tho so hopefully that makes its way to these bags in the future as well
