I'm Crystal, The Cake Lady, and I have been working very hard on something other than baking recently.....My husband and I had a 12 X 32 portable shed moved out to our property, and we have spent the last year and a half converting it into a fully functional baking and cake decorating studio to meet my needs....A cake "SHE SHED" if you will! I thought you might enjoy a tour and learning a little about the process. Please feel free to ask questions and also, to drop hints that you think may help me out with storage/organization and even decorating!

Add more under cabinet lights on your refrigerator side- lots of shadows show up in the video.
To help with heat exhaust, add a roof vent (or two) with a thermostat to help cool your kitchen on the hottest days.
Your kitchen looks beautiful!

I am thrilled to find your video!!! I have literally been begging my husband to build a new house just so I can have a bakery space. A building like you have is the answer for me too. I can already envision the place to set it up in the yard that will put the door to the building very close to the door coming from the house. My husband was very interested in checking out the types of buildings that we could purchase. Thank you Thank you………

I run my bakery in Pennsylvania and I rent a commercial kitchen bc I have pets at home,
I am planning to move to Florida next year, and I figured I can run bakery out from home I don’t need license. But a garage can’t be used as home bakery. Do you have any advice and suggestions?

I love this! Are you located in a winter climate? What kind of heating system did you install?
Thank you! I'm in Florida, so a space heater (or just running my ovens for a few hours) does the job for me. I'm not sure which options would be best in a colder climate. 🤔
4:58 Im in Florida too. I thought you have to operate a cottage food law business out of your primary residence, no outbuildings or sheds? Have the laws changed, is it by the county you reside in? Thank you for your time to respond. 😊
Do you have a mop sink?
Love! What is behind the fridges? Is it an office space? Where do you keep things like boxes, cakeboard, etc.? I have a HUGE shelf just for that stuff! And… do you think two people would be able to work comfortably in this space?
So, the area behind the fridges has a washer and dryer and a little storage space for non-cake items, too.
I store my boards on one of the shelves up against the entrance wall. For my boxes (which I find to be the biggest challenge to store) I actually have a cabinet space that I put dividers in and different sized boxes have their own compartment. I wish I could attach a photo to better describe it.....
And, tonyour question about two people working.....Yes! There is so much counter space that would not be an issue. :-)
How much did everything cost? I want a shed just like yours for baking! It's beautiful
Thank you! I didn't keep close track of every expense, but probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $20K, including the purchase and delivery of the building. I hope you get your baking she-shed soon! ❤

Awww, thanks so much for your kind feedback! ❤ I did a very poor job of recording keeping but if I had to guess, I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of $18-$20K including the purchase of the building, moving it, and finishing it out along with the appliances/countertops and whatnot. Hope this helps!

Was it certified and approved by the health department. I want to do this for my foodtruck business.
Where I live, there are allowances made for "cottage bakers" (people without a storefront that sell baked goods from their home). I'll bet the laws are different for food trucks, and probably vary from state to state. That sounds super exciting, though! I think a cupcake food truck sounds like a dream!
