Good looking, brand name, versatile, reliable, easy and affordable service and modification ,and you can pass it to your children. What else do you want from a watch !!!
Bang on!
I have this watch, and I am always mesmerized by the details in the dial when I look at it outdoors in the sunlight.
It's a great looking piece. I actually enjoy the case more than the dial! It's crazy how good the cases are on these old school 5s for the price
Nice find! I have an SNK381 that looks like it has the same case, but with fully lumed 1 to 12 numerals and a plain dial - kinda reminds me of a Tudor Ranger variant. It's a super versatile watch, just needs a better movement and a little more water resistance!
I have 4 of these Seiko 5. Oldest bought in 1979. You don’t need a Rolex to tell time and look good. 😉👌
Without the day-date feature, the watch falls short of the Seiko "5" specification.
Strongly agreed !!! Seiko lasts long without maintenance !!!
Had this watch for about 4 years and not a single hiccup. Only thing I’m thinking about changing is the band, looks quite elegant with a leather strap. 👍
I have almost the same model, but the one with the entire stainless steel dial. I paid around $200 couple years ago new, but even for that price it really held up well. The bracelet which is the weakest point actually stayed in good condition from all the times I wore it to work. The movement has been suprisingly good, it loses a few minutes after a few weeks but the automatic movement keeps it going unless you take it off for about more then a day which is better then one of my more expensive Seikos. The look if the best part it really looks like a goof affordable Rolex Explorer alternative and for people who don't know about watches and Seiko they have asked me if it is a Rolex from afar.
I considered this model a couple of years ago, but the 6 and 12 disappear at most light angles. I have a black dial SNKL45 with the same issue, but it is slightly better than this model. Unless you’re set on a black dial, I recommend the SNKL41 as the one to get. It’s near perfection for a sub $200 Seiko 5.
Agreed, nice video
If the *7S26* is a dinosaur, what about the ETA 2824? It's from the 1960s.
Went to look for this watch and found a seiko 5 “macsog reissue”! Hopefully it should ship soon.
Looks good !
I agree. Love these old school 5s. Proper gems 👌
Nice I didn't choose this version because I wanted a Ranger look alike 😆
i just find a used one but the silver dial variant. Its different but is only for USD60, i am thinking of pulling trigger on that one
Your videos are always pretty cool with full of neat insights. I wonder why Seiko for instance is not selling only the case. We could have this option. The watch would probably be cheaper. You could still buy the watch with the bracelet though. Some AlieExpress stores are doing this already. It seems that Chinese watch stores are listening more to their consumers that the big watch companies (Swiss, Japan,...). Keep up the good work. As we say in French : "Lâche-pas ! (Keep going. You can.)". Take care everyone.
I believe you can just swap out the movement for the NH range inside of these 👌
@@TopTierTicker I was meaning the watches companies (Seiko, Lorus, Citizen, ...) could just sell the main watch with or without a bracelet. The price of the watch would be cheaper without the bracelet and you could put any strap you want. Take care !
You can buy this case alone form one of the modding pages. I bought it for my project for 40$ or something (with bracelet).
Found it - dlwwatches in yard sale - 34$ plus shipping and taxes.
@@Tom_Kowalczuk Thank you !
I have the silver dial version of it and it is amazing, the black dial number markers get lost with the dial they needed more pop
i am planning to get a silver one. If i may ask, how legible is it?
@@dimasakbar7668 very legible, a lot more than the black dial
Please do a review of Tag Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Chrono Watch. It's a very interesting piece that flew under the radar and I am very intrigued by its design and would love to hear your take on this piece, before making a bid for it.
96!!?? Reverse those numbers for when I was born, proper prehistoric mate! 😂
Seriously though, I love the Seiko 5 range and this one looks great. Similar dial to the SNKL23 which you have mentioned many times, I've almost gone for one of those on several occasions!
I agree it could probably do without the date window for the overall symmetry but I like the crown at 4 o'clock.
Great selection of straps, it really does dress up and down easily.
Cheers for another great video Kieron 👍
Love the SNKL23! Great choice you made with that one. Probably the best looking dial from the whole old school 5 range. Just the long lugs on that model that looks awkward with some straps.
It's amazing that these Seikos are still around $100... Especially considering how much the new ones cost!
Cheers Rik 🙏🙏🙏
Just buy the pagani design if you want an rolex explorer alternative. Yes its copy with a different logo. Also the specs are exactly like the Explorer.
Cool watch
What is the exact model number Kieren?
Cound you tell the brand of the gray strap you put on this one plsss, it dosen't look like any cheap Nato strap I can found online!!!
I love Seiko5
Me too!
So I don't need this watch, but am now interested in it with a dressy grey leather strap. I'm so stupid.
Kool watch… 😎
Perfect watch for those on a budget. However I wouldn't buy it if it DIDN'T have a day/date window at the 3 o'clock. Overall a real beauty!
Interesting. I do elso enjoy a day/date but I felt that this one was a little too obtrusive to the overall design
I like the lume on this watch how are you able to capture it on video so well?
Dark room, turn up the ISO on settings, fresh beam of UV before I shoot 👌
@@TopTierTicker Thank you, keep up the great work :)
I had one with a white dail but it got stolen 😢💔
Looks mint on a Milanese strap👍
Oooo! That would look great 👌
@@TopTierTicker Sure would mate I have a SNK369K1 on one and it looks the🐶s! I'm sure the 393 would look even better 👍great channel 😊
Day date kinda messed up the Explorer look. There are so much better alternatives.
I love it but cannot find this in India 😕😕😞
Why then did you dismiss the SMITHS version which is much more accurate, almost identical looking to the original ??? Explain?
Keep your vids consistent please ?
i actually like this bracelet.
Why don't you give the models' names in the description? Without the models names, it us very hard to search them.
The model name is in the description. There's also a link.
Yes- the day/date ruins the dial- as it does pretty much all dials.
The 0v0 case is definitely the best Seiko 5 case🤗
It's a beauty. I love the chunky lugs 👌
@@TopTierTicker yeah I have a couple,just sit sooo well,yeah a bit small on my 7inch wrist but cracking 😀👍
Do you mean 01v0?
@@MrBacchus18 yup thanks for correcting me Mr Seiko 😂
Watch is ok, but I'm loving all the ridged straps. Why did it take us this long to come up with that?
Don't know what you mean my friend, but I appreciate you watching 🙏
People buy the SNKL23
Would you consider this a daily beater?
Daily yes, beater no. It doesn't have the specs to be beaten around.
Hahaha... Well said man... Truly a collection of crowns! Yeah these were fantastic! Seiko shuffle and all!
I miss the Seiko shuffle. A proper reminder of it being a mechanical piece ⚙️
@@TopTierTicker It relies on you as much as you rely on it. Symbiosis my friend! Have a great week Kieran!
Let's gooo!!!!
Yes sir! Thanks for watching
i like the bracelet
Looks good but wait till you put it on
My first automatic, just a shame it has 18mm lug width!
I'd of loved at 20mm too. Just glad it isn't 19 😂
SNK381 is a better choice 🙂
What strap size fits this watch ?
18mm
@@TopTierTicker thank you
Creation watches is a valid website? is it original?
Lol, yes. I've bought from them about 8 times now
It would be brilliant with a quartz movement (and 3 + 9 indices like you said). I cannot understand why Seiko has such poor bracelets given that aliexpress is full of far cheaper watches with excellent stainless bracelets. Maybe they should ask Addiesdive and benyar how they do it....
It's the price point. They probably sell these to distributors for like $50. They'll have much higher stadd costs than AliX brands too
I had one of these for a bit, was a bit too small for my tastes on my 7.5" wrist. Nice piece though for what it is.
Yeah, I could imagine them being too small for a 7inch+ (depending on taste of course). Looks great on my baby wrist though 👌😂
citizen tsuyosa much better in hand and movement
Out of stock, duh... 😅
'Made'? These watches have been around for ages
They have... Did they not make them? 😆
The Rolex’s crown 👑 is actually a coronet. If anything should have a “crown” on its dial, it should be Casio or Seiko.🍎🍎 😅
I've heard that many times, but also heard industry vets call it a crown... Has Rolex themselves ever cleared up exactly what it is?
I agree. Casio are the kings 👌👑
You can get many better watches with a Seiko NH35/38 from other companies for not that much more money. They are getting killed on finishing and bracelets by just about everything coming from China.
San Martin bracelets and Addiedive dials!
no hacking big no no
You can back-hack them. Turning the minute hand back slightly stops the seconds 😜
@@TopTierTicker I said no!
rolex is overrated, seiko and casio is my way to go. but i do own a Bovet and a Louis Moinet thou. pieces that i wear out only on special occasions
Why buy this?
37mm automatic watch that looks fantastic on a range of straps for $110 👌
@@TopTierTicker
Impossible to find at this price
@@AndySmith4501 there's literally a link in the description boss.
@@TopTierTicker
Yes but the price is more expensive
And you must add custom fees to EU
500th like
If you live in the UK you should be giving prices in pounds.
The majority of my audience is American, that would make zero sense.
@@TopTierTicker How do you know that?
I see every statistic going on my analytics.... Country, age, genders.
It's all about the money...
@@robertkujawa9677 So he's saying we should abandon being British because there are more Americans. That's a pretty depressing attitude to take.
Really hate _everything_ being compared to a Rolex. Yeah, sure, they invented combining numerals and indicies or whatever. Rolex Explorer and the Omega Speedmaster are two of the most overrated watches in all of whoreology, two average time pieces that watch idiot savants cannot stop pleasuring themselves to.
Unfortunately, comparing watches against them is what brings in the viewership.
No need to trash other peoples tastes. You sound butt-hurt and quite frankly just foolish.
Only suckers buy rolexes
Haha what a dumb comparison 👎
Jeez, why are people hyping up a bloody Seiko. These are average watches best. Save up some money folks and buy something with true craftsmanship. Stop buying into UA-camr's who have little knowledge of watches.
