I'm not trying to be disrespectful with this comment, I just wanted to save people in a rush some time!
Lily Hart thanks
my sister thanks you. and me too
my hero D:
Bless you
You deserve heaven
You didn't like Gladiator?
WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
I don't like gladiator either
Nice reference m8. Also I think this deserved best picture at the Oscars since not very many good movies came out (besides Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon)
+pokemonnnerd 8/8 m8
I don't think he was entertained, maybe he'd be entertained if they threw in an enraged "disappointed", then again that might have made him hate it anymore. :P

You know this is old when Doug is talking about Cars 2 and hoping it gets better
And when he says Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time.
Shaw Productions you know this is old when Doug still has hair
Dragon of the Skies he ripped out all of his hair when he watched cat in the hat
@@arcanehornet Yep, that's what made this REALLY OLD. lol
@@stopstaringatmewtf7651 When you compare 2009 and 2019, Avatar still blows Endgame out of the water. I don't even care for Avatar, but I'm not gonna act like money 10 years ago was the same as money today.
In Matilda, the evil woman was Miss Trunchbull, the headmistress. The good teacher was Miss Honey, who was also Miss Trunchbull's niece. The girl didn't do anything wrong, Miss Trunchbull just didn't like her pigtails.
That just makes me wanna watch this movie even less.
Miss Truchbull is one of the WORST movie villains of all time!
He also showed the wrong clip when describing that scene. He instead showed another clip where she grabbed a boy by his body and tossed him out the window.
I was arguing about movies with a girl from my school and she told me: "Avatar was so successful because it was so original." I facedesked
Samuli Hynninen I also facedesked and then through my dizzy vision liked your comment. I'm kind of hard pressed to find anything original today lol. They just keep rebooting old ideas so no one (at least like 90% of movie goers IMO) notices or thinks for themselves.
Avatar.....lol I got so irritated because I thought it was going to be about The Last Airbender
Samuli Hynninen IT'S DANCES WITH SMURFS!!!!
Well you should have just said I'm Sir Paul McCartney so you can shut the hell up
It's the plot of Pocahontas with Aliens :)
Dances with Cgi
Gladiator: "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"

His opinion on Matilda didn't age well. He has really come around to it.
@@casesoutherland4175 what do you mean he doesn’t hate the movie anymore ?
"Symbolism works where even if you don't know what the symbolism is, the story still works"

"There's a sequel of Cars coming up, hopefully it's better"
Nope. Nope it wasn't.
The third one was somewhat better than the second one.
They were all bad
Eh, Cars 2 is the best of the trilogy. And the best Disney and Pixar movie out there.
Low Gunfire Wtf this isn’t even b8
Awesomebacon No.
"there's already Avatar sequels being made"
Damn that's a long time in development.
There's 4
Well still waiting
I hate avatar
I actually wonder if sequels were ever being made, maybe there is an unknown reason why Cameron needs to pretend he's making Avatar sequels instead of actually making them.
@@pentelegomenon1175 lmao my comment is already 2 years old. Which normally would be a long time for a movie to be in development yet it's already been 12 years.
I absolutely lost it at 24:08. Matilda literally shoves the wide angle closeups in your face and it’s utterly frightening and hilarious
Wait
People like cars
I thought I was the only
Dude that movies nostalgic. Any film that's nostalgic will win people over. Including me :)
I like Cars because I like cars, not because I like Cars
Cars is the movie of my childhood...
I think the reason why people don’t like Cars is because it’s not as complex and deep as a story as everyone wants it to be. It seems more like a Disney movie than a Pixar movie. There are so many characters that we just don’t get enough screen time to care about or understand. I like Sarge and Filmore, they’re probably my favorites. I like how they are complete opposites (War/Peace), but they have little screen time. Not to mention the questions regarding the universe (How do they “reproduce”?). But I think it makes for a great kids film, but if you’re an adult, enjoy. :)
A Choking Fish, I don’t like “Cars”, I love “Cars”.
Fast and The Furious...
Like, seriously, what the hell is up with those movies?...
Joshua Jewkes I just want to know why people love them so much...
FireofGia They're self-aware popcorn movies.
FireofGia The first two F&F movies were pretty bad, but..the 3rd (Tokyo Drift) was actually kinda fun and these movies actually started getting better after that.
Don't get me wrong. They're not "perfect", but F&F 4, 5, 6, and 7 are actually fun, decent movies. Dumb, but fun :)
Paradox Acres I can understand that. :)
FireofGia
IKR. Diesel's acting skills is equivalent to a static, motionless big rack of protein shakes. I can't help but feel like they're just cashing in Hollywood fames everytime they bring in other popular action stars into their franchise.
Doug, you mentioned having some films that you hated until you saw the ending. Would love to see a list of films like that - explaining what was so great about the ending that turned you around.
Bob Dole ^THIS
Jurassic World
Days of future past
Split ...
I just heard he also htes Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
I wanna see Matilda as a Nostalgia Critic review
Honestly, I would too.
It's a fair interpretation of the book, so characters and story are a Dahl problem. I do agree about the way some things are shot though.
I thought it was the stupidest movie I've seen and I was shocked when I discovered that this movie is so well praised.
I hate you and everything you stand for.
@@JLynnEchelon Oh God, that film is appailing for MANY reasons that aren't anything to do with the book.
@@SilverFan8 Wrong!!!
I remember reading Matilda, and thinking that if it was a cartoon, it would be cool, with all the over the top weirdness. But in live action, it's a tad uncomfortable
some things don't transfer well in live action.
I really didn't like Despicable Me 2. I absolutely loved the first movie and how original it was. This wasn't a romance story or true love or whatever. It was about a man who learns how to be a father, a single father at that. And then the second one comes in...and it's a romantic movie...and the chick is really annoying. I just feel like it lost too much of it's personnality. And also, why does every kid movie need to involve romance? These are films mainly targeted at kids. Kids don't need boyfriends or girlfriends or whatever. They're kids.
+SnowScales Exactly, they don't want to miss their chance to teach kids that unless they have a relationship, they're the lowest form of shit.
me too I hated it
+SnowScales My biggest problem with that movie it was too busy for me. You had one girl falling in love, Gru falling in love while trying to solve a mystery, and how to be a good dad. They needed to focus on Gru and his relationship with his daughters or the mystery more instead of trying to do it all, in my opinion. They're also overplaying the Minions, but maybe people REALLY like them so I guess I understand the focus. Wait, there's another focus, his Minions too! Geez, so much stuff going on, they could've taken half of these and made another (possibly solid) sequel.
+SnowScales my biggest problem with that one is that *everyone* loves Lucy (I think that was her name) the minute they meet her
I get it they wanted to do the opposite of "little girls hate their father's new girlfriend", but it would be more believable for them to like her after spending some actual time with her
and I ahted the villain so much by gosh it was so close a racist stereotype that it made me uncomfortable and I am not even Mexican
I like number one they could of made number two better but what I hate is minions
I don't see "The Room" on this list. I knew you loved it deep down, Critic.
It's not on here because NO HUMAN LOVES THAT MONSTER
GumiMMD You're tearing me apart!
LinkMorganM OH HI MARK
GumiMMD I didn't hit her! I DID NAHT.
thats because its not overrated, and everyone hates it, or loves to hate it.
Oh poor poor doug... He didn't experience cars 2 yet
I loved Gladiator and Matilda, didn’t care much for the rest.
I loved Matilda, but I understand why you didn't like it. It's not a movie for everyone.
I only loved it because of the book
Bisexual Witch Things the movie was so different than the book
Amateur guitar Player I've read the book.
I didn't understand why he didn't like it.
It was dark, but without a reason? or something like that?
The Anonymous Sir Backspace Maybe its because its by Baz who also did Moulin Rouge (Doug HATES that movie, I like the style but hate the plot) and Australia 2008 (hope he reviews that because its bad. The 1st half is ok but the 2nd half kills it. If you think its gonna be like Michael Bay's Pearl Habour its not but not for good reason). Baz has done good works like Stricky Ballroom (Doug would hate it but I love it) but unsarally does stuff that's bad.

I guess it's still worth a 2/10, though. Maybe next time, lad.
this is a beautiful comment.
+BonziBUDDY well i guess you hate frozen
ONE THING to Frozen's credit, it shows parents freak out and overreact and ruin their child's life because of a minor little accident *that was fixable*. Kids get bumps. Kids get bruises. Kids get hit on the head with each others' superpowers. Freaking out and stopping your kid from living is not the answer. They made it worse. Those parents made that eternal winter.
Everything else was terrible. Songs were terrible. Plot was lacking. Characters were extremely annoying, and that snowman... I was shocked my hate didn't melt it. But the moral... That, I felt was very, very, very true to life in a way that's not really that okay to say in modern day because culture is going in the opposite direction and was honestly pretty ballsy.

I kinda liked the second one better than the first, personally.
Poor, sweet Doug
Matilda was a revenge/vindication plot set in elementary school. The movie is designed to give people who have had awful parents or bad teachers or people that just didn't get the appreciation and support they wished for as a kid some revenge. It's like any revenge movie. 75% of it is designed to make you hate the bad people who have power over the main character, and the rest is the satisfying revenge.
Necro Nomaken
Yeah but, there is a limit. If you go overkill then it can get obnoxious.
I was that kid in elementary school...I didn't care for Matilda.
Also, the pigtail scene definitely is in the book. So they are just being true to the source material!
@@philchroniger7839 I heard that the film isn't as good as the book it's based on.
A great film about greed is The Treasure of Sierra Madre. I strongly recommend it, assuming you haven't seen it.
Even watching this years later I'm amazed at how little Doug paid attention to _District 9_ . It's explained early on in the film that the Prawn have some sort of caste system similar to an ant colony. The reason the ship came to Earth was because something happened that caused the deaths of all but the worker caste on the ship-the one exception being Christopher Johnson, who was from the scientist caste (that yellow alien may have also been from a different caste)-and it simply drifted to whatever inhabited planet it could find. This is why talking to the Prawn was not at all productive, all of them were workers who knew how to do nothing but take orders, they had no idea how their technology worked or how to operate the ship, they just did what they were told. The only one who could give them answers, Christopher Johnson, intentionally made himself scarce because he knew that the humans could not be trusted with their technology, and that they most likely had no intention of letting him or his people leave Earth.
Thought it's hardly unusual for Dough to not pay attention to movies or even try to fact check himself when he thinks he's spotted a plot hole. Like his review of _Matrix: Reloaded_ where he claims that Neo could have simply gotten to Morpheus and the others by using another door to get to them. He seemed to be under the impression that the parking garage that Morpheus and Trinity ended up in was a part of the mansion and the snowy mountainside he ended up on was another portal door, when in fact it's the other way around: the mansion was located in the mountains, and they got to the parking garage by using one of those portal doors. I have no idea how he could have made this mistake, considering that it's established that the Keymaker is the only one who could do that trick and it was one of those albino twins that shut the door. What's even more baffling is that this particular review was made post-Nostalgia Critic revival, so he was working on it with several other people aside from just Rob. Did none of them catch this huge mistake Doug made?
Doug has proven over and over again that hes always missed vital info. I think he knows that now and thats why hes calmed down a lot in recent videos.
I sense some self awareness in Doug. I just think they have too big of egos to admit it explicitly. Whatever the case, at least theyre trying to change their approach. Because you pretty much hit the nail on the head.
He pretty much admits that he didn’t want to see it but relented because of people raving about it. If he went in that cynical he was never going to pay attention properly. Bill Simmons does it all the time on his podcast. Complains about “plot holes” in movies that are actually explained. If your reviewing a movie, fucking pay attention!
When Doug doesn't hate your favorite movie. 😃
Captain Braviry which movie is that?
Who cares if he does, they’re just movies...
It's sad when Zootopia: a kids movie does a better job about teaching a message against prejudice than the movie made for adults.
that just shows how important a good writer is
Ehhh, didn't like it, thought was ok. I feel its a bit overrated
Big shock there are kids movies that are of better quality than some movies for adults
It's not a kids movie.... but okay.
You talking about the "cute" comment? Sorry, haven't finished watching the movie yet.
Did…did Doug even WATCH District 9? They DID examine the aliens, they did that inhumanely, they never “gave up” on them. That was literally a central plot point to the film!
I think District 9 was a far superior film compared to Avatar when it came to telling a story about racism and xenophobia. In fact; out of all the nominees; District 9 was the best movie of 2009. I honestly believe that they gave the award to The Hurt Locker just to screw with James Cameron.
Well, Matilda is based on a Roald Dahl book... mean spiritedness and grim darkness for kids was his thing
Was going to say this exactly. If you read his autobiographical book "Boy" you get a good picture of why a few of his books have the theme of kids who get revenge against their mean/gross elders.
huh , that's why I always felt depressed after I read one of his books as a kid
that's just what school in Britain is like. we don't go to school on unicorns to be taught lessons in love like in the usa.
and it is told from kid´s perspectives, that is why adults are so evil and dumb. Except for the only good teacher.
+funkoxen I don't know what school you go to mines great
While I don't hate it, I've never thought E.T. was worth all the hype. I suspect it's because it came out when I was 12, and a sentimental film was not what I was looking for.
Same thank you
I watched it only this year and it was really fun
For some reason, I just never could ever bring myself to like ET
yeah when I was that age, an alien film I wanted to see was more along the lines of Aliens or Predator
For me it’s Blade Runner, I don’t get why it was so special, the sequel was great though
What if I told you an Avengers movie would take James Cameron's Avatar's place as the highest grossing film?
Then he needs to take notice immediately
I would say who gives a fuck. It’s not like it makes endgame in the top 20 best movies ever made
@@ggamesgarner8027 Is not this. The critic prefers Endgame.
@@ggamesgarner8027 So, if you won't put it in the Top 20, would you place it somewhere between 21 and 30?

This is not a Nostalgia Critic list. It's a Doug Walker one.
idk I loved Matilda. Maybe it's my childhood nostalgia. Also it's Matilda, cruelty is part of the movie's theme
How she overcame all of the bad influences around her *cough* her parents *cough* really made "Matilda" a feel-good movie for me.
Matilda is one of my most favorite movies from childhood! Glad I have it on DVD!
and it is bloody ridiculous to me.
some of the complaints for the movie should've to the book (I like the movie and the book I'm just saying)
In Matilda the principal murdered her own brother, (can't remember why) but it was ruled a suicide, and the good teacher was her niece.
charmedfan7704 A FAMILY PICTURE!
In the book, Trunchbull is implied to have murdered her brother so that she can get Miss Honey's inheritance
@gamesandguitars003 If there's any consolation, Roahl Dahl had a book about nine cannibal giants. It's called The BFG
@@ezelfrancisco1349 Roald Dahl wrote actual adult horrors, I've not read them but I've seen the shorts films. My dad enjoys them. Some of the most memorable is where a woman murders her husband by hitting him on the head with a frozen leg of lamb. She puts it in the oven and goes out to get vegetables. When she gets home she calls the police and puts on an devastated act, getting upset by saying she had no idea what to do with the food she was cooking, so fed it to the police. They couldn't ever find the murder weapon because they ate it, she fed the police the murder weapon. Another one involves a young man who goes to a hotel but he's the only guest and the owner is an elderly woman who really enjoys his company, she later drugs him which kills him before she taxidermies him and places him in a room with other young taxidermied men. It seriously freaked me out.
i don't like Suicide Squad, and people say I'm a "Marvel fanboy" just because I have that opinion...
A lot more people hate that movie than love it. It's a guilty pleasure for me.
That's not an argument, that's just them not understanding how to properly defend their reasoning.
The original title of that movie was Hot Topic the Movie
As a DC fan I can honestly say I don't like Suicide Squad. There are a few things that I can honestly say are ok, but for the most part it's disappointing.
As an active hater of all but like 6 DC characters, 5 of them because of a kids show, I actually really liked suicide squad. it was fun, had a good sense of humour about itself, and felt like a semi fun experience. Course Harley quinn is the only non TT DC character I kind of like, but will smith was charming as ever, and I actually quite liked El Diablo, though his climax was shit.
When you love Moulin Rouge but you also love Doug's reviews :')
Oh man...when you started talking about "the singer" I cracked the f up
Yeah, fucked up, but I dont know the name of the singer
The Greatest Showman is a film that I despise so much but everyone else loves it. Honestly, it's probably my "Moulin Rouge." Most of the songs were generic, jarring, and preachy, the plot was so predictable, the moral was incredibly forced, most of the characters were unlikeable, and it is one of the few films that I cringed from beginning to the end. Look, I'm all for showing everyone who you are even if you are considered different, but this movie just forces that message to the point of annoyance. Even though the film was loosely based off real events, I think it could've acknowledged more actual events than just be artistically licensed. The only good elements to me were the production designs and cinematography, everything else, I just don't like it.
Pierce Alexander tbh nothing about this movie is liked by me all I can say it's just boring and uninteresting.
What I find with this songwriting duo is that their songs are catchy but forgettable. Additionally, this film has the worst transitions to songs I have ever seen in a musical, I mean I cringed. I think the characters were fine, plot was hella predictable. Also PT is made to be a hero even though he's a conman and clearly exploiting these people.
@@nigerianprincess101 This is, The Greatest Showman wasn't trying to be historically accurate. Movies can take artistic liberties with things and that;s fine as long as they aren't claiming to be based on a true story, which TGS didn't do.
I liked the songs, but I get where you're coming from. The story and charcters were pretty bland and forgettable.
Agreed
People do know that Matilda was based on a Roald Dahl book, right? Books where absolutely horrible and terrible things happen to the characters - blowing up like a blueberry, turning into mice, getting eaten by rhinos... Honestly, it's all part of the charm and a great part of people's childhoods. I highly doubt it's meant to be taken seriously.
Actar Raikit Actually, Matilda is a film about child abuse, and it helps a lot of people cope if they are going through those sorts of things. It helped me deal with my less than happy childhood. See my comment above. ^
@loverlee uhhhh...of course art/film is open to interpretation...but uhhhh...the movie was based off the books that have the same darkness.
Right. But the books weren't being dark just to be dark. There was a message behind it.
By the great Welshman himself
+Actar Raikit Aktar's Figure Reviews!! I love your videos! I wish you would make them more often! Can you review the Flonne Nendoroid?
Matilda is based off of roald Dahl’s book. That’s why it’s so weird, and kids aren’t fragile. I read the book then watched it at age 7 and loved it ❤️
*I mean, Matilda is originally a book. Guess Doug would hate that* 😆
I liked the book better than the movie but that could be an age thing since I was a kid when I read it
On District 9; as much as I hate people using "you just don't get it" what Doug said about District 9 seems to indicate that he well... didn't get it. (disclaimer: this is merely a criticism I don't hate Doug!) I'm referring to how he grouped it in with Avatar and dancing with wolves. Though the mentality around the two is similar the differences between having to tolerate and empathize with someone stuck with you is far more complex and consequently morally difficult that someone just bashing on your door and demanding your property. Their is no real moral greyness is Avatar. Na'vi good, human bad... smashy smashy. District 9 is far more adult and mature with no right or wrong answer. So although it may not be a new idea, it is done in a far better way than has attempted before

@@katelyncarson422 Seriously?
Another frustrating aspect of Signs, and plenty of other movies with Christian themes as well, is the perpetuation of the idea that people only stop believing in God because they're angry with Him for some reason.
The idea is that everyone actually believes in God, they just lose faith in Him and try to be edgy and rebel. There's no atheists, just people having immature temper tantrums against God. And while there may be people who do have that sort of crisis of faith, it's a fundamental misunderstanding of atheism and it further complicates theological discussion between religious and nonreligious people.
Spend some time in the comments section of an atheist video, and you'll pretty-much be guaranteed to see at least one comment from a Christian with this attitude. That comment will usually have a few replies from atheists telling them how arrogant they are for trying to dictate someone else's position or telling them to ask what other people think instead of making unfounded assumptions.
I have no idea where they get this idiotic assumption from and I really wish they'd knock it off.
Christians get that assumption because every time a Christian posts something, there's a slew of angry atheists with an axe to grind on them. It comes from experience and basic pattern recognition.
I feel like this specific criticism of signs is a little misdirected. The "atheist who's mad at God" trope is appropriate for the main character.(he was a preacher who feels like God let him down) It's a cliche to be sure and misapplied very often. But this idea itself exists because a lot of religious people, Christians in particular, have had experience with very angry militant atheists antigonizing them for what they believe without significant provicaton. Many see this anger as coming from a very personal place, even if the "whole" truth is more complicated.
Why so much confusion over why people like Matilda? Haven't you heard of Roald Dahl? He's only the most popular children's author in the world, and was famous for his dark writing style that didn't patronise children. I can't believe someone that clearly grew up in the 80s didn't know about this book or this film.
Ilyana Galen I never heard about this man. I read the book of Matilda and is great, and the film is good.
Roald Dahl ist not "the most popular childrens author in the world" everywhere. for example, I grew up in east germany so I had never heard of him before the critic made James and the Giant peach.
For me famous children authors are Astrid Lindgren, Hans Christian Andersen or Michael Ende.
silentlamb21 There's a reason so many film adaptations of his work have been made - I'd say not hearing about him until a review of a film suggests the work was deliberately suppressed in East Germany. 250 million copies of his books have been sold worldwide.
Ilyana Galen I agree it follows the book pretty well. It's not prefect but its pretty close.
Ilyana Galen yeah when he said dark just to be dark it was clear he didnt know it was a book. he could say the same about charlie and the chocolate factory but chances are he knew that was based on a Dahl book.
Going bald is a tough thing in a man's life...
Oh, Critic. There's no way in hell people would've ever hated your review of Matilda as much as they hated your review of The Wall!
Or Channel Awesome's response to Not So Awesome.
Review? I call it a misunderstanding.
My opinion often gets invalidated the moment I mention that I like the live-action grinch remake. Yes, that's right. I think it's a good movie. I think Jim Carrey gave a hilariously memorable performance. I think the overall set design and dialogue was very true to the Seuss-esque feel while still keeping modern storytelling and humor in it. I think they did a good job expanding on the original story to add depth to the characters which was never needed in past iterations. Some of the humor is crude and juvenile, but that's because the grinch is a crude and juvenile character. And it actually has lots of clever jokes mixed with the lowbrow stuff, making it a great family/kids movie. While Doug and others disagree, I truly believe that it gives genuine respect to the source material while still being its own thing, unlike The Cat in the Hat or other shit. I still watch it and the original every year with my family. It's really not a bad movie
The King of the Penguins one of my favorite childhood movies, watch it every Christmas, it's hilarious
The King of the Penguins I enjoy the Grinch movie too
Jim was perfect for the role
I can understand liking the film, and doing something different with the source material, but being faithful? No.

I don't like any of those
Yeah and now it's the exact opposite. Most people are not only requesting him to review actual good movies, but movies that are not nostalgic at all.
There isn't really an overly-praised movie that I downright hated, but in terms of not finding any enjoyment out of them, two movies come to mind; I personally don't like Titanic or Frozen.
I don't think they're horrible movies per se, I just couldn't be invested in them at all. They never entertained me, I never cared about the story or characters, and maybe it's just me, but I don't really like romance all that much. Even if it's not the focus, most romantic subplots tend to rub me the wrong way.
I dunno, maybe that's just me. I don't think they're bad films, I just didn't like them.
I'm with you on that. I never found any real enjoyment out of Titanic or Frozen.
I thought Titanic was boring and I really couldn't watch Frozen without a sour expression on my face.
You're tearing me apart Lisa!!!
I didn't hit her! I did not!
How's your sex life?

Doug, I cannot with you! 😂Halfway through telling us how you hate “Signs” you say “you know what I actually think I like this movie.” 🤣🤣🤣
I did not care for There’s Something About Mary.
That’s a movie that everybody loves but I didn’t necessarily hate, but I didn’t think it was that good. I only chuckled a few times throughout it.
It was a film that I knew about for years but never saw it. Everybody raved about it so me and my homeboy finally watched it and I wasn’t overly impressed. However I’ll be generous and say that even though it wasn’t that good, it was the best Ben Stiller movie. Like I said I chuckled some through it which is more than I can say about any other Ben Stiller movie. It was better than Meet the Parents, Zoolander etc
Cars is one of my favorite Pixar movies, but the reason is more personal. I love the desert setting, which reminds me of the Inyo/Death Valley region where I was born, and also the theme of abandonment. These cars used to have a purpose in society but a freeway made their little highway town obsolete, there are a lot of places around the country where this has actually happened and it's a story that rarely gets told

I disliked the unreal feel of Madagascar 2. There should have been a Banana Republic like there are in most African Safaris.
Not very many people enjoyed Twilight and Minions
Lol agree with all but Big Hero 6
Nobody likes the MLP movies (except Equestria Girls 2, which was okay).

the prime example for me is gravity.
its just Michael bay destruction porn in space and 90 minuets of sandra bullock hyperventilating.
If I wanted MB destruction porn in space, I would go watch Armageddon. :P
Agreed, I really disliked gravity even if I don't factor in Clooney's insanely illogical and unscientific death scene.
+SFisher1993 Armageddon is atleast entertaining
I don't love Gravity but saying it is like Michael Bay is insane.
Me too. Like Avatar. Though the CGI was fantastic. The plot was clumsy. And the finale where Sandra Bullock survives. But she doesn't save George Clooney. I mean how is selfish is that. How is that heroic? And that scene where's she's inexplicably talking to a bloke in China? But we never hear from the Chinese bloke again. Big Lipped Alligator moment!!
you know what is a really good movie food fight great movie 10 out of 10
You what m8
Get fucked, man, that movie sucks. You know what IS a great movie? Plan 9 From Outer Space. I can't even think of a movie better than that one.
CasaiAgicap I'm being sarcastic
+Guardian angels I love it when people make the same joke but manage to misunderstand each other.
León Caruso Hey, man, what's this "each other" there? I understood exactly what his joke was
It's not my fault apparently Plan 9 wasn't obvious enough, even though I was afraid it'd be too obvious.
I hate that stupid singing too that you mentioned in number 2.
It's sadly even infiltrated some of my favorite games, including Borderlands 2 in some areas!
I honestly never really liked Titanic, mostly because Leo DiCaprio died in vain with the floating door.
He had to die. It was necessary for the story.
Idk, there was a scene where they both tried to get on it, but the weight tilted it over.
I never liked Titanic because I thought it was boring as shit. Maybe it's just my bias, but I have no interest in romance movies.
Everyone calls it a door, but it wasn't even a door...
Holden Carter I hated it because Leo was miscast big time! He reminded me of a girl in that film.
This is exactly why i love people like Doug. You can read a newspaper or check rotten tomatoes or whatever, and you can see all these "professional critics" sucking eachother's dicks about how good or bad a movie was, and that opinion for some reason becomes the status quo. It prevents individual people from thinking for themselves and they end up automatically agreeing with said reviews.
I'm very happy there are people like Doug Walker. I just wish there were more people like him.

I completely agree with you about Matilda.
I only saw the movie once as a kid when my school was playing it for some reason, and I remember that I had a really hard time watching it. It was only my other classmates who were kind of making fun of every scene that made it bearable
1. Dazed and Confused (one of the worst films I've ever seen)
2. The 40-Year-Old Virgin
3. The Blair Witch Project
4. District 9
5. American Pie
6. There's Something About Mary
7. J.J. Abrams's Star Trek
8. Shrek
9. Baz Lurrhman's Romeo+Juliet (worse than Moulin Rouge IMO)
10. Empire Records
Dishonorable mention: 'Cabin Fever'; it's not exactly beloved, but few people hate it as much as I do. I also hate 'Avatar' and 'Signs' but those are not especially unpopular opinions at this point.
We can all agree that Cars' best scene was the beautiful Radiator Springs sequence set to James Taylor's "Our Town", that best original song Oscar nod was well-deserved.
What made district 9 great was that the message was incidental and the movie was fun as an action sci fi
what MADE it...
as soon as Neil Blommkamp's(?) films came out really social message driven it was clear that district 9 wasn't a huge accidental masterpiece but it was on purpose
Ironic
The thing he said about Gladiator being the Moses story and Ridley Scott choosing bad screenplays
Since this Ridley Scott has actually made a Moses film
psst... like literature (and yes I'll include comics in this) or movies, music, the definition of "a good ........" is immensely subjective.
What i have found is that, in broad strokes, there's many things that are a re-telling of of already known material. What I enjoy are the clever details that are new or innovative in a story. Like the UV bullets in the Underworld series or an interesting mash-up of Terminator vs. Robocop where the Robocop program lead to to Skynet.
Most things have various story arcs that are predictable and boring, but anything that different, new, or turns the usual tropes on their ear is so refreshing.
I was surprised The Matrix wasn't on this list.
+Abraham 123 It would probably be a dishonourable mention for him.
Animatrix > The Matrix.
Knives Millions Matrix movies are really good action movies, but nothing more, Animatrix had at least a meaningful message of how this war between mankind and machines started. It had differents points of view about how the Matrix works for different people. Matrix movies were the typical chosen one storyline who could kill the bad guys and save the good side. It's just my opinion, I still enjoy those movies but, this is what I see. So nope, not a Hipster, at all.
Abraham 123 I still can't believe he dislikes the movie.
I agree that Gladiator wasn't that great as it was hailed but it is still one of my favorites. I don't know why, I just always loved it especially the "Are you not entertained" and the "My name is Maximus etc etc." Always got chills from that even though it wasn't that amazing. It has a special place in my heart.
If nothing else, Crowe (who was TERRIBLY miscast) was FAR from Oscar-worthy in it. Agree that movie wasn't that great....................it actually bored me to tears, TBH.
Maybe because it is manly film? There are not a lot of films about manhood. Only stupit action films how 'white knight" saves girl from "dragon".
@ your a spaz
If someone else played the Main role i think the movie would be good there is something about russel that i dont like :/
Avatar is Dances with Wolves in space
I still love it tho.
And/or Pocahontas lol
Or Atlantis The Lost Empire
Stranger Things is TV Super 8
I'd like to give my two cents for those looking for a second opinion. So let's get into it.
10. Cars. First off, I don't think everyone loves this movie. I see it pop up near the end of every pixar list. I honestly enjoy it as a fun romp. I don't dive too deep into it and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) reminds me of some people I know, so maybe I'm biased. If this is the worst pixar truly has to offer then that goes to show just how special Pixar really is.
9. Gladiator. This film can be a lot of fun. I think Russel Crowe definitely looks the part and nails the intense moments. His delivery is incredibly monotone and is not at all vibrant. The action scenes are awesome and steal the show for me. My favorite character is the guy who buys Crowe as a fighter played by Oliver Reed. If you don't know, Oliver Reed was a tough guy back in his day and made a name for himself by performing as tough guys in old horror / Hammer films. he was a heavy drinker and a womanizer. He died during the filming of Gladiator and I'm happy that he got to be in a film like this before his death. He deserved a modern film, much like how christopher lee, who also starred in horror / hammer films went on to be in the star wars prequels, lord of the rings, and hobbit trilogies. I think the directing was wonderful, especially how they reincorporated Crowe's longing for home when it ends. However, it is a long film and I understand people not liking it. It isn't one of my all time favorites and I think Apocalypto was much more intense and exciting.
8. American Pie. I saw this movie when I was WAAAAAAYYYY too young and haven't seen it since, so it is hard to really make a call here. I don't like gross out humor at all and I'm also not a fan of the "Party" movie or the sex comedy. Maybe it's just me but actually going to a house party is more fun than watching an over the top house party on TV. Having awkward run ins with girls in high school is a lot more impactful when you are the one being awkward. I was never moved by these films but I understand why others are.
7. Avatar. This film is a marvel to look at, or at least that's how i felt in the theater in 2009. I'm oddly looking forward to the sequels. I love anything that takes me to a fantasy world like that. The story had a lot to be desired and the "MILITARY BAD" thing was boring, but whatever. I get the hate.
6. never saw it. NEXT!
5. Signs: Haven't seen it in forever but i feel like I remember the hype around it (and scary movie 3) more than anything. My cousin would bring the dvd to my house and we would watch it, along with other scary movies, to freak ourselves out at night. Great childhood memories. I'm not reviewing the movie anymore. Oh well . . .
4. Aint seen dat. NEXT!!!
3. Matilda. I love and adore this film. The set pieces are great, the characters are vibrant and cartooney, the acting is great, and i love this movie more today than I did when i saw it as a kid. It is such a unique and cute story with funny moments and a lot of heart. Dahl is a great author and his fingerprints can be seen all over this movie. I'm currently entering this huge osession with the anime film Akira, which also deals with a main character that gains psychic powers after experiencing trauma. Comparing those two movies in my head makes me laugh. Anyways, this is the closest I've gotten to being offended by this video. This movie scared me but in a good way. I just really don't agree with you, Doug. I wonder if I like it simply because I was young when I first saw it.
2. District 9. I thought it was okay. Saw it in theaters so maybe I had the best experience but even then I wasn't terribly impressed. If I remember correctly, this was supposed to be a Halo adaptation but it turned into District 9 for whatever reason. Halo is a video game that I hold very close to my heart so it just made me wish that Halo was made instead. For what it is, it's fine. I don't hate it. I plan to direct and write films so that means I can direct it once the studios notice me. Wish me luck!!!
1. And I never saw this one.
PEACE OUT!!

Did you miss the part of the title where he says everybody else likes it? You don't have to give stupid critique like that on a video that is literally about different opinions. What a waste of a comment!
I'd have to say the avengers would be number one on my list. It's a fine movie and it's very cool but it's pretty generic and lacks a bit of depth. The Russo brothers captain america films are a lot better imo

Hi from 4 years in the future! No...the Cars sequel was not better...not in the slightest.

And then 3 that was WORSE.
I'm a cars fan and I agree sadly
I mostly loved Gladiator simply cuz it's set in ancient Rome.. love the sets. Plus it has one of the best battle scenes of all time, getting to watch the entirety of a Roman army unfurl itself bit by bit.
careful or else Russell Crowe and tugger will come fight you
Just don't let the bastard sing.
“Ow my God, it’s Russel Crowe!”
Am I the only one who thinks it’d be funny to see someone edit a clip of South Park of Russell Crowe fighting where Nostalgia Critic’s/Doug Walker’s head is edited onto the person being punched by Crowe?
When I tell people how much I hate Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent, I get really dirty looks and offended "Whys?" Then I have to explain why I hate them which pisses me off even more. Tim Burton's CGI Wonderland isn't even creative! It's phoned in, lazy and something I would see in a knockoff Disney park. The Jabberwock (Not fucking Jabberwocky that's the name of the fucking poem!) looks decent because they were able to take a somewhat goofy design and make it menacing, but everything else is just annoying!
I didn't even know people liked those movies..
I feel like Maleficent could have been salvaged if they had just fleshed out the story between her and King Stephen more rather than falling back on the Sleeping Beauty and a half-assed Frozen plot. It should have ended with a bitter and angry fairy crashing Aurora's birthday party. I would have liked a fallen hero story rather than a "bad guy is good guy all along" plot. Disney just doesn't take risks anymore however.
+AnnoyingSquib I was shocked to find a group of, actually they were all college girls, who actually liked Maleficent. I could not and still dont understand it. They said they liked how they "made Maleficent more deep" by not having her be evil. just..........no..........SHE WAS EVIL ALMOST INCARNATE IN HER MOVIE, THIS WAS THE WOMAN WHO CURSED A CHILD WITH DEATH ON THE DAY SHE TURNED 16 AND CALLED UPON THE POWERS OF HELL TO TURN INTO A DRAGON
+Kevin Blanchard Oh, THANK GOD, someone else whose thinking that about the movie. I understand seeing things from multiple POV's, sounds good, but Maleficent was like a bad fanfic where almost everyone else were turned into "Ron The Death Eaters", especially the three fairies.and King Stephen while Maleficent was treated as "Oh, she's just mistreated and misunderstood".
+AnnoyingSquib Maleficent could have been so good but just wasn't. That made it hurt. Bad.
There really is a Seinfeld episode for every situation. "The English Patient"! LOL!
in defense of Matilda, it tried really hard to be loyal to the source material. the grand majority of events in the movie were taken directly from the book.
however, I think you're right about the subject of reason to be dark. why showing all this violence towards children?
the answer is in the book, where Matilda (already somber about the parents-children relationship), explains to her friend the principals' biggest secret:
"Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable...”
I don't know why cars is on the list everyone I know (including me) doesn't like it
Cars was critically very well received, so I can see using it as an example.

I loved it merely because of the cars, that's the only thing I cared about XD
i hate it as well XD it's just so bad!
It was honeslty Pixar's first hiccup. Just pales compare to their other movies.
Gazebo I simply hear nothing about it now... Although, back when this was new, I remember when a lot of little kids liked this, while a lot of adults were like... OK.
This is an old video, so perhaps maybe this was when that was the case. Now... Well, I don't even hear kids talking about this film anymore.

I understand why you don't like Cars but what make it good was that it took something kids like (Cars) in order to show them a flowed protagonist becoming a better person. To me it was the first kids movie I watched were the protagonist was a jerk and ended up likable in a natural way, so it means a lot to me personally.
Yep. Now you kids are now the ones who grew up on it and are now enjoyed it.
Still the Cars franchise…. Is for little kids. Not really intended for adults as many of us 20 sometimes (at the time) just dismissed it.
I don’t think it’s the story that made gladiator so beloved, the soundtrack, acting, costume design, cinematography and intense moments made the film.
