exactly my thoughts. Vogue is about fashion, and not some crappy reality tv people who Americans consider as part of their culture. Shame on Wintour for her current path.
I think him having his own exhibit is a good idea. He can share those beautiful pieces and its stories to the people that will pay to see those rare collections. Then he still get to keep all of it.
I feel the same way about John Galliano and everything that he’s ever designed. He is quite possibly the greatest designer of our time, alongside McQueen.
Eternally in awe of Alex's charm, eloquence and passion. He is an example, among other great fashion journalists, as to why it is much more worthwhile to direct attention to established commentators and not clueless influencers. Love you, Madame Fury!
Collectors should be a series! As someone who collects vintage clothing, I know people who think similar to him. Some collectors would rather be buried with their collection than ever leave it in someone else’s hands.
This is one of the best videos released by Vogue since the channel started. Thank you, Alexander, for your passion and dedication to one of the greatest talents in our lifetime.
I love the innocence, honesty and humility in his response to "Why?" in the last minute of the video. In that his collecting is like love, there is a sweetness to it, but he's also self aware that it's an obsession that has more power over him than he has over it.
I became OBSESSED with Galliano’s vision of fashion since I was like 16. Loved the fantasy he created, the creativeness, the extravaganza, the stories behind his designs. Truly one of the greatest ✨
"Everything sparks joy" . What a wonderful and poignant summary of this video, the subject matter, with Alex's obsession. Truly one of the most inspirational videos of recent. 😍😍😍 Love Team Galliano!
As a collector, you hold that stuff as along as you can. And the creator bidding against you to add a piece to their collection speaks volumes! They could always find a way with money. But in that moment it was collector vs collector, and you wanted it more. And frankly they could have dropped the bag but didn't is respect. Own that piece for life!
John Galliano deserves the biggest fashion exhibition ever made, we are waiting for that. Please museums of the world! My complete admiration for Alexander.
Thank you Alexander for this video. John Galliano is a master, all his Dior collections are absolutely incredible. The imagination, the taste, the daring, the technique, the workmanship, the colors, the attention to detail, makeup, staging, all pure magic. Each of the pieces you own deserves a video of its own.
isn't it wonderful to hear someone who truly has a passion have a platform thanks vogue for giving this guy his time. i agree with others, this guy needs an entire documentary. i hope he gets to meet galliano one day
Got to admit, Galliano is outstanding in art of fashion. Totally relate to the hero of the video: its such a unique and satisfying feeling to go through all these wonderful pieces. True art
Whoa. This collection though. Some of these pieces are so incredibly rare. He really should invest in some humidity control or casings for some of these garments. I mean this collection could easily exceed 200k if not more
I love this video, this guy, his enthusiasm and his love for Galliano's Dior designs whose designs (for me as well) were definitely the most gorgeous, innovative, groundbreaking and wonderful Dior creations for the maison since Christian Dior himself.
His excitement over his collection. It reminds me of the time I got my Dior baudrier. That feeling of owning it. I do wear it, though, but it feels so special. I love the fact Mr Fury and Mr Galliano are in touch.
What an incredible collection. I love hearing people talk about something that ignites a passion within them, it's captivating. Power to you Alexander!
I adore this type of video. I enjoy hearing collectors talking about their collections. I hope that he has this collection insured, and that one day he partners with a museum to showcase it.
John Galliano is THE creator of all time. He breathes haute couture. Such a talented and flamboyant artist. His collections are gold. I really feel sorry and so saddened for what happened to him back in 2011. His talent will never age and his legacy is priceless. Christian Dior was too impulsive and it was it’s loss. Long life to John Gallianio 🌞
@@phuthumilenxumalo3448 he apologized for it and paid $$. he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Why was he recorded at this specific time, nobody will know. I wonder why. Was he targeted? I cant belive how does it feel? I own just one shoes by Galliano, and my heart beets just by seeing it. He is a geneouse. No one can be compared with him. God bless him.
I love that he has done this. It seems perfectly sensible, to collected these gorgeous pieces of Art. Im glad you did thank you for sharing this. I so miss Johns gorgeous creations
*I hope he gets attention as much as possible because he needs it. Dior&Galliano both should resolve their tensions & come forward to help this guy. He is the sweetest Dior Galliano loyalist. Come on now* ❤
As a John Galliano fan, I love what this collector has done to honor and preserve John’s great, unique artistry and genius in fashion. I think he should open his own museum. That would be incredible if Alex was able to collect one of every piece along with show artifacts. That would be awesome.
Absolutely magnificent. I love these videos about collectors and their collections. I do find it interesting, and I’d love to know the collectors thoughts on being in love with a designer & artist that has become so controversial (to say the least.) But, like many have said & commented, Galliano is more than a designer, he’s an artist. His impact on fashion is insurmountable. Like other comments, including one of the top comments at this time, please do a documentary on this collector and his collection! I’d love to see as many of the pieces as possible, as well as his thoughts and everything else. Also would love to know if he has the famed newspaper print dress SJP/Carrie Bradshaw wore in SATC & one of the movies too. We saw this collector had a jacket with the same newspaper print, but I’d love to know if he had one of the dress designs that was shown in the show/movie. When SATC was first airing as a show, Dior was one of Carrie’s most worn designers, especially in terms of accessories. Especially the “saddle bag.” I’d also love to know his take on the show and their use of Dior/Galliano designs. Thank you Vogue for this amazing video! Would absolutely love and adore more like this one.
I adore his honestly concerning fashion being elitist- yet accessible to look at- or like I go- go to a high end resale shop where a friend works and get to try on Chanel and daydream of owning it.
I just KNEW there was someone in the world who must be as obsessed as I am with Galliano, and there you are! So great that you followed your passion. I'm sure it wasn't easy and sometimes it's the thrill of the hunt but as you said, in person with the garment was better than you ever thought. I love that you have them and care for them the way you do. I also think a traveling exhibition of your collection would be awesome. A minimal charge (to underwrite that sort of thing, including travel and insurance) but you still would come away with quite a bit of money and the best part ... still having your collection! I hope you will consider it. I'll be first in line! Thank you for this video, you have become my hero!
I don't know it's kind of sad to me to think all those fabulous pieces are just in a closet collecting dust instead of being worn and seen and admired... But that's just me
This is absolutely beautiful and special and moving. I can say that I have an obsession with beautiful things as well and love having them in my possession. Thank you for sharing this - I am happy you won the bidding war with Galliano! 😂😅 cheers to you and your beautiful pieces!
He needs to move some of this to offsite storage. Rotate them out according to seasons, color or fabric. And put Polaroid picture on outside garment bag.
Life gave you 10 years, 20 years, 30 years and far beyond ages. When passion pose that, amazing time and great to make it happen. Live your life with joy. Lucky to see people doing this for period of time. Love and support to this men, respect.
Personally I think clothes have little personality when stored and not worn. It's like looking at a wedding dress...it only comes to life when the bride puts it on.
Fabulous and fascinating! This deserves an entire documentary. Showing pieces he has mixed in with footage of the shows, interviews, the history of the garments. Incredible.
THIS is what he should do with the collction, very Herb and Dorothy
