My pre summer solstice trip to Scotland June 2019.
    Summer solstice countdown 10/06/2019
last night i camped by the mouth of the river on a beach at Homore. Sunrise was not so good. I had a pit noodle and a Lyons coffee bag. I walked to the main road from there i hitchhiked to Creagorry there is a co op supermarket there i should restocked there but i did not. You can get the w17 bus from Homore to Creagorry as well. From Creagorry i hitchhiked to Trinity Temple you can also get a bus there to.
Trinity Temple is in Carnish. rinity Temple is a historic ruin, listed as of European significance and possibly Scotland’s oldest University. is the remains of a medieval monastery and college, founded by Beathag, daughter of Somerled. The building has been extended up to the 16th Century, but destroyed after the reformation. Again restored in the 19th Century by Dotair Ban.
from Carinish i hitchhiked to Berneray Ferry Terminal you can also get bus to here. before i got the ferry to Leverburgh Harris Ferry Terminal i went did my bit for the local economics buying from Berneray Shop & Bistro. The ferry was £3.70 for one way by foot at time uploading this video. From Leverburgh i got a bus to Tarbert. At Tarbert i did my thing again helping out the local economics by buying from the local shop there. I then did some digital hoboing charged up some my gear in the bus shelter you can also in the ferry shelter there by the way. From Tarbert i got another bus to Leurbost however i was going to Uig beach but was late and that was as far as i could get to by bus that day rest have be walking which i have done before or hitchhiking which i ended up doing and got the rest the way in two lifts to right to the camping area on the sand dunes lifts by local people yet again thanks guys.
Uig (Lewis) otherwise known as West Uig is the largest and most sparsely populated district of the Isle of Lewis. It contains the highest point on the island, Mealasbhal (574m) and also another six of the highest ten peaks. The deepest lake, Loch Suaineabhat at 67m, is the deepest offshore lake in the British Isles. discovery of the largest sapphire ever found in the British Isles. The 242 carat stone discovered in 1995 is on display at the National Museum of Scotland. Uig district was a fruitful recruiting ground for soldiers in the 78th Seaforth Highlanders for the Napoleonic Wars. Despite military service and the ultimate sacrifice by many, the district was the subject of widespread evictions in the nineteenth century to make way for enlarged sheep farms and sporting estates.
Uig Beach is best known as the site where the Lewis Chessmen were found. Before 1831, a local crofter discovered a buried hoard of chess pieces, uncovered by a storm. They are mostly carved from walrus tusks, and probably originated in Norway sometime in the 12th century
