Only fraîche for girl. You don't use frais for guys. The word is kind of offensive anyway, it implies the person is fresh, as in, fresh fish or fresh meat (meaning sexually desirable).
Hi, I just wanted to add a complement when you find a person attractive. This word is "bonne", which usually means "good", in the same way that you might find a piece of pie good. But this word takes on a whole new meaning when used to describe someone, very often a girl. It's a slang word to say that a girl is sexually attractive, so you'll never hear a polite guy say that directly to a girl. On the other hand, you will never hear a girl say "ce mec est bon" because it sounds very weird to a French speaker. However, you can say "ce mec est bon" to say "this guy is talented" for example. But you wouldn't say "cette fille est bonne" to say "this girl is talented" because it brings a sexual connotation, so we use another way to say it like "cette fille est douée".
"Charo" is written without the T, it is actually short slang for "Charognard", which means "Scavenger" in english. It was not used too much until it was used by french rapper Niska to designate football(soccer for the weird people over the atlantic) player Matuidi as a Charo, because the guy plays in any position he needs on the field to win or something like that... It's used as a metaphor for a guy that will do anything to get what he wants basically.
depends where you lived in france i guess and what social circles you're in, and what generation. I grew up in Toulouse, moved around in Nimes, Angouleme, Paris and Montpellier, and I never heard it used in almost 30 years of life in france, must be a gen Z only slang or something i guess
I was congratulating my friend a few months back on a role he landed in a film, so I said "Waouh ! C'est très excitant !" and he replied: "Uff uff... ... I haven't lived it down since. 🙃
I showed your video about le verlan et l’argot to my French students I class today. I’m an Irishman who teaches French in a high school in Mexico. They were fascinated by it. I’ve never seen them write French words and phrases down with such enthusiasm. So I can only imagine how they’ll react to this video. Merci bien, Eloise. D’adore ton accent. Chapeau. 👏🏼
Such a helpful video! Also I love your hairstyle, I would love it if you made a video on how to do this bun and maybe a few other 'French Girl' hairstyles? Bisous!
OMG I knew "je ne veux pas me prendre la tete" was a red flag, yet I thought maybe I put too much pressure on him, lol never again. Thank you for explaining ❣
I never, ever, flirt in French because: 1) I do not speak French 2) I do not have time to waste, and 3) French women like to be f*cked with, not flirted with.
Joli is actually less strong than belle - but it does sound nicer. And "kiffer" is stronger than "bien aimer" - it's a middle one before "aimer", when you're not ready for this step.
Hey, I am a French guy here in Paris. Really saddens me to hear that a jolie girl like you didn't meet anyone here. It's been 8 months now since the release of your video but if you feel like going get a drink or a coffee with a stranger, let me know ! :)
As a Spaniard that can´t pronounce anything properly, I gotta say you have a lovely accent in both English and French.
hahaha chou means cabbage originally, but when you use it to describe someone, you are thinking about the pastry (petits chous à la crème), not a cabbage xD
Little tips, use old french, not words like « charo » ou « pécho ».
I don't really agree for the description of charo... Also, it's written without a 't', because it's just a contracted form of charognard (animals that feed on dead carcasses)... As you can imagine, this doesn't just mean a fuckboy, or a player, or a tease. It means a person who jumps on any occasion to try and get laid, has no standards, no consideration for the other party, etc...
You can also use frais/fraîche to describe someone as hot and really handsome
funny how this is the opposite of English 😭!!
@@saga_oneil ? I thought fresh can be used positively
@@proftuna43 yes ? :0
I meant like fresh is the opposite of hot, but we use these words in slang for the same thing in both languages haha

@@devilymoon oh you think so ? I don't think I've ever thought about that connotation, maybe because I just don't use this expression

Magnifique explication
I heard it way before Niska's use tho. It's a really common way to define a guy here to just fuck around in a party or smth
