Do you think this means that loads of people go on max 2 dates with someone and make their mind up because they don't want to lead you on by asking you on another date?
Talking marriage is smart, that means telling someone “this is my goal, if you don’t have the same one we will end here”. Proposing marriage in the first few weeks is entirely different. Which was it?
I live in Germany and I met my significant other here who is also American. After going on dates like multiple times and spending a lot of time together I thought we were girlfriend and boyfriend. Two months later this dude comes to my house and ask me if I want to be his girlfriend 😅 I was so shocked because yeah in my head our relationship was obviously official lmao and I kinda felt embarrassed 😅.Now we've been married for 4 years and have 2 kids together. 🤗
As a French living in Paris for only 2years I was also really surprised when I arrived to see that a lot of men are still living with their parents, even though they would be 30 years old, but I learned from my Parisians friends that it was really normal and usual because the rent in the city is so up high that some of them just can't afford a rent, so they stay with their parents and it kinda makes sense... Paris is freaking expensive !
@@FreedomWriter3 I might be wrong, but moving out of your parents home asap is only the strongest in the States from my experience. In my culture and country it is encouraged to live with your family as long as you can (some must do that forever). Obviously France is a European country, so it's different, but most of my French friends, especially the ones that originally from Paris tend to live with their family too and it's fine.
4:59 "C'est chaud" (it's hot) is slang for "it's complicated" maybe that was what he meant then. _It's complicated to go out to eat tonight_ ... but apparently y'all still had drinks, so Idk lol
ahah this "dating" concept is so weird to Europeans, at least to Frenchies. In theory, I can see the good side of it, but it feels sooo counter-intuitive, like "you seem nice but I keep my options open because I'm not so sure", which is something I would be so insulted if a guy was doing that to me. The french mentality is more that you commit: you are in it and that's it, but on a day to day development, not thinking marriage or anything more than 1 year ahead. And then if it doesn't work out, you break up and done, you gave it a full shot, and won't be half not sure that maybe this guy was a good one but because you had others in mind it kinda took down your involvement. When you have too many available choices you almost end up not choosing anything. I'll always remember the shook of my boyfriend when we never have had a date, we just knew each other from school, and when he told me "I am falling for you", I just kissed him x'D There's only one way to test the chemical side yo As someone else was saying "In France, you kiss you date", so for me in order to "date" someone we need to kiss. Otherwise it's just undercover flirt that could as well be friendzone.
It's totally that, I always feel that the first month is like trial period of the relation and if it don't work then you break up, it's not a big deal you honestly give a try and focus on him or her at it's fullest. And if it go longer than a year it's that the real love is here and you can start to think about either moving together or something.
I am from Paris and living currently in Canada Toronto since 2 years. The dating culture was a shocked for me and it's still lol. I miss Paris for that, I think in France it's a bit more easier to get in a exclusive relationship than in America. Western and European culture is definitely different.
Not sure if it’s a European thing, here in Scandinavia we can date for months and months before we decide to go official. I, for one, decided to go exclusive with my now husband after just a few dates but we didn’t make it official (and I didn’t tell him I really liked him!) until six months later 😅😂 We’re happily married since 11 years now so it all worked out fine in the end though.

definitely , a lot of cultures you live with your parents until you get married, I have an uncle whose in his 60s still living at home cause he's been a bachelor, nobody says anything cause its not weird.
As a French I chose to go exclusive or not after 2 or 3 date then drop the things If love does not follow the excitement and feeling of the beginning. You can saw it as a trial period where I only focus on one relation to see if it will work but generally I'm not wrong and get long relationships. But if it don't work breaking up after few week or a month is not a big deal
Love your hair! It’s so nice to see African American Women in Paris... I lived in Paris with my French Boyfriend (White guy) before dating app were discovered.... later Dated someone from Cameroon... Although this was long ago it was a big difference between the African French vs White French in between I had other dates. I really love Paris and still visit however, married an American!! Enjoy😘😘 Stay Beautiful💃🏽
Tiffany, thank you so much for making this channel and keeping us posted especially me I’ve been following you since I met a French boy on IG back in 2018 this has been a ongoing fiery passionate conversation . He and I are excited really refreshing to hear what you were saying because all those traits that you’re talking about with dating in France versus dating here in the US it is so true, we are now planning to see each other in person and have a whole bunch of sightseeing there in Paris. He’ll be coming back here after fall semester ends because I’m in medical school and I’m super excited. Thank you so much for just all the info and encouragement, love don’t have to be found where you live as long as it’s a healthy connection !
The part about where you got stuck at the door, the same thing happened too me when I went to Paris. The air b&b that my family and I were staying at, to get out you have to press a button and push hard, but my aunt and I didn't know that so we were stuck at the door for 10 minutes trying to get out, and the security camera was looking right at us, very embarrassing.
This gave me life! I really needed this right now 🙌🏽 BTW I bet photoshoot bae was being mysterious because he doesn’t have a job. I’m willing to bet money on it...
Photoshoot bae definitely sounds weird. I’ve heard that it’s considered rude in French culture to ask what someone does. But I would expect that on a date it would be ok esp. because he’s flexing. 😂
A lot of French man does try too hard to impress girls. the fact that some guys try to be with you fast I mean look at you, you are Gorgeous but this is a culture thing people really don't waste time if they like you you know, they want you lmao.
Love hearing your stories!! Hilarious with some of them, but what fun and glad you got Henry. Thanks for your super relatable content, I love Paris and visit annually when I go back to the U.K. It's always a LOL culture shock/ feels so cheeky to be there so the cons fall away as we enjoy the beautiful city- even if we come across some grumps that hate the British accent , haha
It's the same in Scandinavian culture. If you are seeing each other more than three dates you are together. But moving together people plan and talk about it. No one says, now we are together after you have been out more than three dates.
In my experience - it breaks down like this - Americans need things spelling out very literally, each step needs to be verbalised and a decision made. In France, UK and Australia... things are much more inferred, if you keep arranging to meet someone and kissing happens... you keep doing that until longterm goals are discussed. Its so different!
Watching from Toronto. Omg 😲 your dating stories are hilarious 😆. Reminds me of my early days. You should write a book about these experiences. May turn it to a movie. Glad you have your head on your shoulders. Stay safe and be well. Continue to have fun and live your life to the fullest. Take care. New subscriber.
@@frenchmarron I beg to differ, color does matter... The fact that people chose to be colorblind is an issue and has a lot of impact on relationships. I do agree parisian men, and parisian people in general are but more into exploring
@@frenchmarron I'm not talking about issues here, why twist my words. I said color matters. If you're white, it's no surprise you think otherwise. If you're not white, just wait and see how racism intertwines itself into relationships, but is never adressed because of French colourblindness.
@@candiceb8605 I agree, saying "you don't see colors" is willful ignorance of racism that very much exists in France as well as the US. If you're white, you obviously have the privilege to say you don't see color because you don't need to be aware of it, whereas people of color in majority white countries are aware at all times.
@@frenchmarron No one said all black people have the same life experiences. I'm saying they, and other people of color, do not always have the privilege of ignoring their race like white people do. Asian people may get discriminated against because of the stereotype that Chinese people have the virus. Muslims/Sikhs (not a race but you get the idea) may get discriminated against for head coverings. Black people may need to warn their children about the police because of police brutality and mass incarceration. These are not things white passing people need to deal with. I would never speak for someone else's experience and I'm honestly glad that you don't feel skin color affects you but it certainly does for a lot of people. Acting as if there is no different treatment between races only exacerbates the issue because lack of awareness = complacency. Speaking out about these issues encourages people to solve them. Just because you've never had or seen negative experiences doesn't mean they don't exist!
Try Bumble or Hinge, you may have better interactions and dates These apps force people to be more intentional and/or transparent that Tinder, and encourage real conversations. Plus, they are less time consuming. I don't know if it's relevant for you but I would also suggest to 1) explore going on dates with other races, 2) Be more specific about what you value/love in relationships in your app description 3) Don't go on a date of the conversation does not feel great/amazing (Coucou ça va kind of chats) All the best girl, keep your head up ! @@cheesecakelasagna It's not only Americans. In French culture the guy usually pays, so he avoided the date. It's the same for many places in the world where it's just not even a question the guy just pays. It seems in UK and American culture they can sometimes be a debate about who pays
Wow okay, big ouf on your part; living with your parents is way more normal in Europe and outside of the United States. What you said about him sounded really shallow but I know in the US they're more judgmental about that bc of the fact that the culture emphasizes moving out at 18. If he's a European man and he's respecting him mom its a GOOD thing. European moms are more involved in your relationship than an American mom would be.
Well said. Not only in France (and most of EU) adult children still live with their parents, but this is pretty much the SAME custom in a LOT of other countries outside the Europe! She dates there with a US mindset, instead of learning the culture she immersed herself in.

Thanks very much for sharing your stories lol. I went on a tinder date or two when I lived in a smaller city in France. I honestly don’t get how people can date someone for 6months and not be in a relationship or at least not discuss it long term intentions.

In my opinion, the fact the guy who still lived with his mom was not a reason to drop him... it was just a cultural difference.
Yes in african culture its normal for example.
Cecile g Girl I’m West African. Nigerian to be specific and that is not normal. Africa is a continent please specify what country you’re talking about. Cause not all Africans approve of that.
It's common in my culture as well. Depending on the part of the country where you live.
definitely , a lot of cultures you live with your parents until you get married, I have an uncle whose in his 60s still living at home cause he's been a bachelor, nobody says anything cause its not weird.
@Bougie Barb You'd never date in Italy, then. Lol
That’s it I’m done with America I’m moving to Europe
Dont come to U.K. it’s the same as USA
😂😂 me too
As a French I chose to go exclusive or not after 2 or 3 date then drop the things If love does not follow the excitement and feeling of the beginning. You can saw it as a trial period where I only focus on one relation to see if it will work but generally I'm not wrong and get long relationships. But if it don't work breaking up after few week or a month is not a big deal
Gf you were spot on. I'm a black american too and have been here +20yrs and have had similar expériences....lol!!
Now I have my man🙏
Thx for sharing👊🏾
Yasss to you finding your man! Guess we have. to get through the bad ones to get to the good ones ;)
I love the colours that you are wearing. If you care to share, where did you get it from?
SZB Thank you! It’s a dress from Zara! xx
Yes, it is lovely!
Loved your story about how you met bae! So cute
Shannon Jenkins Haha thank you!! xx
These stories are killing me 😂😂😂😂😂
Listennn 🤣🤣🤣.
You date a few months with someone before being into a relationship in the US ?
That does sound crazy to me 😅
"It's too hot to eat" had me dyingggg 😂
This gave me life! I really needed this right now 🙌🏽 BTW I bet photoshoot bae was being mysterious because he doesn’t have a job. I’m willing to bet money on it...
Oh god, lmao! 😂
I’m sooo happy that you moved, I have wanted to move to France but I have been saying that for three years now -_- agh.
Ahhh you need to download my move abroad mindset guide! It’s totally free!
Photoshoot bae definitely sounds weird. I’ve heard that it’s considered rude in French culture to ask what someone does. But I would expect that on a date it would be ok esp. because he’s flexing. 😂
Lol non it’s not. It’s considered rude to ask how much you make but not what you do
Jazmin Rose indeed you are totally right, from born Parisian 👍🏽
A lot of French man does try too hard to impress girls. the fact that some guys try to be with you fast I mean look at you, you are Gorgeous but this is a culture thing people really don't waste time if they like you you know, they want you lmao.
They also dump you pretty fast without an explanation. 😕
@@And-vm5ms so fast lmao
Think of it as a tacit trial period where you're exclusive. We jump exclusive fast but end it early if it don't work for us.
These stories are hilarious! 🤣
Girl! Dating out here is a wholeeeee thing. hahaha
Tiffanie Davis haha I see!
Cameroonians to not claim tinder Bae, just saying🤦🏾♀️
Facts!!
What?! Ya'll need to tell me more...
Sis african men in France are top tier, I went on a few dates in just a week 😩😩😩
Sis where you meet them at cause the one I dated was a whole asshole! 😩
Americans need things spelled out and can’t understand inferences? Sounds generalized, best to you.
Hahah I had no idea what I was getting myself into 🤣. Thanks so much! Welcome to the tribe!
What a great story🥰 So cute how you opened the gate.
C’est trop drôle 😂 but Parisians are quite different from your regular french guy lol
Hahaha really? Would be so interested to know the difference between dating Parisians/typical french!! x
I'd rather a man who doesn't want to get in trouble with his mum than with his wife lol
🤣☠️
Omg! I live in Paris too and I have had a similar experience as tinder bae! So weird! I've currently given up on dating in Paris
Lol! The struggle! It's hit or miss over here
Try Bumble or Hinge, you may have better interactions and dates These apps force people to be more intentional and/or transparent that Tinder, and encourage real conversations. Plus, they are less time consuming.
I don't know if it's relevant for you but I would also suggest to 1) explore going on dates with other races, 2) Be more specific about what you value/love in relationships in your app description 3) Don't go on a date of the conversation does not feel great/amazing (Coucou ça va kind of chats)
All the best girl, keep your head up !

Have any recommendations for someone looking to visit for 1 month?
"Too hot to eat" actually means that the boy is broke and doesn't want to spend money on you hahaha.
🤣☠️
Guy probably was sweating thinking he had to pay for the whole date since most non-Americans think Americans heavily prefer that guy pays for dates.
@@cheesecakelasagna It's not only Americans. In French culture the guy usually pays, so he avoided the date. It's the same for many places in the world where it's just not even a question the guy just pays. It seems in UK and American culture they can sometimes be a debate about who pays
I dont think it's cause he is broke, he still took her out for drinks. Drinks cost more than food
Love your hair darling!! I'm an Afro American in Italy! Oohlala. Also in Italy. Dating doesn't exist. Second date. Your practically engaged! 😂
Hey babe! Yasss love that. you're out here in Europe too + LOL! 😂
@@TiffanieDavis Yes. Ever come to Milan...let me know. It's the same in Italy. Three dates. You're practically engaged!
Not really. Italian men are not that invested. They love beautiful women. And many of them. If you haven't met his mother you are not his gf.
"A smooth ten minutes..." OMG, you're hilarious!
🤣🤣🤣
Bro I'm not even focused in the content of the video. Your hair is giving me liiiiiffffeeeee 😍😍😍😍😍 you're definitely my hair goals omg
Lol thank you so much!
I met my Frenchman in Australia, he was here on a working visa and later sponsorship as a sous chef
thanks for sharing! Also, just and FYI the sound effects (especially the dinging) is super loud.
Well I'm swiss and if a guy is still living with his parents and he isn't a student, I'm heading out. And my friends who are also girls think the same. (I'm 22 btw)
I LOVE your hair!!! :)
Thank you! x
Lol! Thanks for sharing! I know what to watch out for now.
I'm a Brit living in the French countryside. It would be cool to date but probably not as many options like in Paris. I think I'll give it a whirl with my limited French language skills! I might learn a few more new words 😅
Love your stories hon...so funny...some of them sound cray cray😂
Lol a mess!! x
The video ive been looking for ..... love to see it!
Aamina Thanks!! Dating in Paris has definitely had its ups and downs haha - hope it helps!! 🖤
You are a great storyteller - so interesting! I'm definitely subscribing!
I am an ethiopian-canadian splitting between canada/france. Every french men i met, they all want to go to Canada...well, except my boyfriend :)
My goodness, I have just found and subscribed to your channel. You are beautiful inside and out!
Bar Bae: that wasn't his mom, that was most likely his wife!!! Yikes!
Thanks very much for sharing your stories lol. I went on a tinder date or two when I lived in a smaller city in France. I speak French but That didn’t help me with the “3 dates and you’re together” concept. The guy seemed cool, cute, we went on a couple dates. We didn’t have much chemistry, I found. I was gunna have to move back home shortly anyway, so I more used that excuse 😅 he didn’t seem to understand why I was ending it 😅 Oh well. Love your hair and top and I’m glad you found bae in the end!
Girl you got me at Fine tall men I live in Orlando FL but this past march I was in Paris for a day visiting and exploring now I know where to go next year 🙏🏽 when this virus is situated
Hahaha yess girl, I was always meeting people at that bar!! Yess keep it on your lit for one you come :)
You are Stunning !! Your hair is FABULOUS!!
This was such a fun video to watch! (btw you are so beautiful!) I am glad you found your guy in the end!
Idk how I ended up here but I LOVE your hair!! 🙂
Lol thank you!!
Your hair is so beautiful! 😍
Hey Tiffanie you look absolutely gorgeous hun! Can you please share the link for the Zara dress?
Ahh I don't think it's in stock anymore I bought this is 2019 but if I can find it I'll share :)
I just want to move to France and live by myself . I don’t have time for casual nonsense
You are hilarious with the sound effects 🤣
Lmao!! This was one of my first videos it’s so funny to me
Those buttons on the doors are so common. They take a little getting used to :0)
kmichalene Lol I was like oh god this is embarrassing 🤣. And yeah totally - I’ve gotten the hang out of now 😅
Would love to hear your insight on dating in DC?
Hey love this vlog! However I wanted to ask what lipstick brand and color are you wearing?
It's Too Faced!! Pretty sure I'm wearing the 'wine not' shade here :)
So they jump into making you their GF but also have multiple? I know they do not do the exclusivity talk and just assume only seeing that person but the second part about multiple and being casual? Does that not contradict not having the talk and just assuming exclusivity?
