Tekken 2 arguably had the best character selection
Better characters than 3, better music than 3.
Tekken 2- The day June fell in love with Kazuya and all HELL would break loose!😂
Random trivia: Tekken 2 is directly referenced in Shaun of the Dead. Everyone loved this game. My mom played this game.
And Spaced - sitcom with Simon Pegg predating SOTD. There’s also lots of other PlayStation games in it (RE2, Time crises and Tomb Raider)
It spoke to so many different people in different stages of life. While my dad wasn't fond of me playing fighting games, he really LOVED Tekken 2's soundtrack, especially March to the Columns.
So this became a very fond memory of him for me.
You're the only one that understands me 😢 Tekken 2 was so good, what a nostalgia
I still play to this day. Just because later titles exist and have more fluid mechanics doesn’t mean this game is bad. Newer players should definitely give it a try, they’d discover a true gem
It's still my favorite Tekken game of all time. Because it was my introduction to the series. Plus this visuals, and soundtrack were so iconic.
The three of us.@@otdreamer193
Greenshirt Tekken 2 intro
Absolutely. Tekken 2 is where I came into the series & thanks to my sampler pack that came with my PS1 I fell in love with it.
@@AnonymousAnonposter Heihachi hands
I wonder how many people learned martial arts from tekken
I had some experience with Motion Capture for video games and gotta admit even though Namco has always created a seriously fluid and accurate movement animations and overall choreography for Tekkens in the past, (I think they were using MoCap before it was industry standard) They really outdid themselves with Tekkn 8. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)
hello almost leon
Sure buddy
i love almost leon @@trapez77
T2 was mysterious and exotic to me back then as i didn't have a PSX at the time, all I played were Capcom fighting games.
No one could imagine that the sequel to a Virtua Fighter clone would render Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat irrelevant for at least a decade. And perhaps change the gaming industry. Where games have a more realistic graphical style and morally complex stories.
Konami should have released Fighting Bujitsu in the 90's for arcade.
No idea why they canceled it.
Taito should have localized Fighter 's Impact.
Atlus should have localized Yusha: Heaven's Gate to the U.S. for PS1, not just EU, as well as Critical Blow so for PS1
Battle Tryst should have been ported to home PS1 and Saturn consoles
Squaresoft should have localized Tobal 2 for PS1
Sega should have ported Virtua Fighter 4 to Dreamcast
SNK should have ported Buriki One and Samurai Shodown 64 to PS1 besides Fatal Fury Wild Ambition
Fighting Eyes for JPN PS1 is probably the worst 90's 3D fighter though
They both came out in 1994 in the arcades and both where ported to home systems in 1995. How is Tekken a clone of Virtua fighter? Game development takes some time and if they came out at the same time, the development teams must have had their game ideas for some time.
Tekken 2 was massive in my High school we all had it at the time, I loved it. 1-3 were amazing for me and then it sorted dropped off after that. I got into 6 and played it loads but not able to get into it since. I’m going to download the demo for 8 when I get in now after watching this 👍🏻
I got Tekken 2 as a birthday gift in october of 95, needless to say I was a happy kid.
For me what made this great as a 10 year old kid, was it was a substantial visual upgrade over the first, firstly it looked better the fmv's look better the soundtrack was amazing and finally the gameplay was smoother. I remember watching the intro for it multiple times and loved the track for the devil stage. I know this isn't about Tekken 3 but feel that the jump from Tekken 2 to 3 was the same jump from 1 to 2, truly amazing.
Tekken 2 had the best soundtrack and the atmosphere of the game is beautiful! Without any doubt my favourite in the series.
Tekken 1 also had juggles. Though it was expanded in 2 it was present in the first game.
Juggles of jank, later refined in T2
But still, the juggles actually helped you win the story mode in T1 😂
I know you speak of Tekken 2 but Tekken 3 really looked fantastic especially for a game on the PlayStation 1. It's really push the console to the max! Nice one Top Hat! 👍🎩🎩🎩
1996 was the time when the 32-bit era had found its place in 3D gaming. I discovered Tekken 2 in spring of 1996 through a Playstation Demo Disc at Sears which also included crash bandicoot and Twisted Metal 2 i believe. It was on that moment I realized, that the future of 3D had arrived and the 2D dreamscapes will cease to exist; and I was right...to a degree.
By Christmas 1996, we gotten the Saturn which included 3 games as a bundle and my oh my...Virtua Fighter 2 was a class on its own...visual arcade graphics for an in-house console at 60 FRAMES PER SECOND???! Our family was awestruck by the game's prowess. Retrospectively, however, I had always desired the playstation more for being the new kid in the block and able to showcase the amazing gaming library it started to accumulate.
Tekken 2 is by far one of my greatest prized possessions in my library of games for its distinctive and harmonious OST, sound design and other achievements this game had accomplished. This game and Crash Bandicoot were the ones who made the Playstation.
For me, it was the intro cinematic and the music. It grabbed me in a way T1 didn't, and I knew I was hooked on the series for life.
Virtua Fighter 2 intro was killing Tekken 1 intros.
And then Soul Blade intro killed them both.
@@budgiecat9039 T2 still >>> all of that.
@@FieryAnubis okay but Tobal 2 > Tekken 2
Tekken changed so much throughout the years but was ALWAYS one of the best Fighters, in every era
Not really
Used to love the juggling back in day , would always catch those out that thought they was the better player, can still remember their faces 😂
T2 was everything T1 was supposed to be, greatly improved.
I loved the soundtrack so much, and you can have arranged or arcade versions.
Played the hell out of that game until T3.
Tekken 2 was the first Tekken game I've ever played. I can go on about playing this with my cousins on their Playstation for weekends, but this made me a fan of the series for life. Plus it improves on the first to a T. T for Tekken that is...
Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat change the game, and Virtura Fighter brought fighting to 3D. To me, this was peak fighting game for its time.
With Tekken 8 on the horizon, I do occasionally revisit this gem on my PS5.
When i bought the original PlayStation in the 90s, i was at toys r us and bought tekken 2.
At the time, it was amazing and the animations were amazing. Its still fun all these years later.
😂😂😂 Jun was a 1 night stand floozy for good ol Kazuya. Just proves that Dark Triad Men are irresistible no matter how noble the woman is😂😂😂
Tekken 2 will always be my favourite. Just hit at the right time for me growing up, and everything just clicked. I did martial arts, still do, and a lot of inspiration from this game has carried over into my adult life. I run my own gym that is a bit unique to say the least. Different rooms are like different stages, and I'm opening a dojo this year. Man, gaming really has affected me more than I realised 😂
I Played every Tekken
and to me 3 & 4 are still the best in this series
Tekken Tag 1 is GOATED too
Tekken tag team tournament two is the best one
@@trapez77 Naa it's good definetly. But Tag 1 has more legendary status. It focused more on the core. Rather than lot's of gimmicks that Tag 2 did. But maybe you're more nostalgic to Tag 2
@@Paz-jv3rj yea
For me it's the most sentimental version of the game as it was the first Tekken I owned. I had played Tekken but was still loving Virtual Fighter and Street Fighter at the time. But Tekken 2 changed everything for me, the guys at Namco somehow managed to step up everything for Tekken 2. One of my favourite things of Tekken 2 is the soundtrack. Ah man when that Kazuya theme plays I get chills quite possibly my favourite gaming music.
Oh boy. How I used to piss my friends off with those timed counters.
We had a small arcade up the street from our public school when i was a kid, i guess around the mid to late 90s. There was an arcade cabinet of Tekken 2 there and we all used to have huge tournaments on our lunch breaks. sometimes we would run there on our 15min breaks just to get a quick couple of rounds in before recess was over. So many quarters soent there as a kid. Its a shame, and its really sad to see that arcades are pretty much dead in N.America. For those who will never get to visit an arcade as they were in 80s and 90s it should be a crime. Casinos for kids! Instead of paying out money, they payout fun and awesome times! I miss arcades...
Tekken 2 was the first Playstation game I've ever seen and immediately fell in love with both the game and console.
Hadn't played Tekken 1, so the intro to Tekken 2 on arcade was my intro to the game. Haven't looked back since!
Just watching your channel for hte first time in years and I'm glad to see you still do the 'yeaaaaaahhhh' thing 😂
When I read the title for the video I instantly thought back to the disc art and how it made me realise at just 6 or 7 years old that I was in fact straight 😂
I had a crush on Michelle
Memories 1997 I was 13 this blew my little mind the charters looked great the game play was stunning and the music was fantastic loved this one
Difference between tekken 2 and tekken 3.
Tekken 2 was classy
Tekken 3 was gritty
I will always remember Anna and Nina's endings.
These two never disappoint, from every aspect
Cmon, dude, we know good in well your PERFECT for cover Tekken 3! WE WANT IT!❤😂
Tekken is so fun. It was a big part of my childhood. I made a few videos on my UA-cam channel here about Tekken 2. It is so much fun and has many exclusive features too!
I spent so many hours playing this game when I was 9 years old. It was just so good. The extra characters and content were so cool too. Good memories.
My favorite Tekken game on the PS1. Gameplay wise not as good as Tekken 3, but the music and ambiance was awesome.
Devil Kazuya in Tekken 1 wasn't just a palette swap. He does significantly more damage with that skin than as regular Kazuya. I want to say ~25% more damage at least.
im glad to say i still have working copy of tekken 2. its still awessome
This game and music are timeless. Every time I revisit it, it inspires me to settle for nothing less than greatness
The greenshirt hero is one of the most underrated Tekken characters. Only true fans know.
This game's AST is one of the best soundtracks ever.
Tekken 2 is still my favorite in the series.
Tekken 2 is aesthetically neat, but it feels nigh unplayable to me, because I grew up on 3 and Tag. I don’t remember any of the big kids owning 2 either, but everyone had 3. That game blew the hell up, and it’s easy to see why. It truly felt like a step up compared to 1 and 2. A leap for fighting games in general.
The FIRST Tekken I played
My favorite Tekken game on the Psx, I play this beast even today!
My favorite of the series to this very day. :)
i like tekken 2 and tekken 3. tekken 3 was my and is my fave one and i still dont have full version of it tekken 3 i mean. i think street fighter ex 2 and ex 3 are underrated too. those games have colorful everything and music omg the music. sad that not many people played ex games. i have street fighter ex 2 plus. it has some easter eggs. some what ive forgotten how to perform. the voice change glitch or easter egg. not even ign knows how to do it. i forgot how to do it. also street fighter ex 2 plus game crashes but wait there is more. it starts playng street fighter ex music after it does. also when you save replays in there u can hear street fighter ex music again. its undderrated gema and arcade version is also good.
Tekken 2 has always been my favorite Tekken.
Incredible how popular Jun Kazana still is this long after her one and only canon appearance. Asuka is but a poor facsimile.
BIG HEAD MODE is why I loved it!!!!
(Why the duck haven't they brought that back?)
Please do videos on Mortal Kombat 3 (& UMK3), Tekken 3, DOA2, & Soul Calibur 3. As well as videos on Power Rangers battle for the Grid, Pokken Tournament (& the DX upgrade), the Blazblue series, the Persona fighting games, SNK's World Heroes series, the godzilla fighting games, Primal Rage, Mace the Dark Age, & Sonic the Fighters
Tekken 2 made me discover the importance to have roster.
We finally know who Lars's mom is with that thumbnail.
Tekken has always had juggles since the first game. They just weren’t as prevelant. A few characters could outright kill you from a launch in the first game
Always felt Virtua Fighter felt meatier and more refined, but Tekken looks cooler for sure and by Tekken 3 the series was looking awesome.
last thing wish u did video on sega genesis megadrive. ive ben obsessing over this console like madman lately. i played it few times as a kid and it has some hidden gems too.
I still have it!
As a Tekken fanatic I still prefer the vf non textured aesthetic over tekken’s
Tekken 2 was nice, but I really remember playing it at Blockbusters and later a friends house. Definitely superior to 1, but not enough to make me go OMG like Sould Blade/Edge. Now once we discuss Tekken 3....then there's a whole nother level of awesome!❤
the fighting engine was way better in Tekken 2 than the first one by far because everyone had different fighting styles unlike the first one cos paul jack and king had the same move set
I never really got the love for Tekken 2 it was ok , personally I think soul blade absolutely whooped it
My favorite fighting game EVER. The best, all things considered, I think!
Tekken 2 is a huge improved of Tekken 1. Controls are better and more characters and good graphics of that time. Tekken 2 is way harder than the first game especially when the CPU can counter every move you make. Kazuya and Devil Kazuya are absolute pain to face. The fight is more intense with the arcade version of Emotioness Passion playing.
Please do Tekken 3! :)
Please do tekken character history videos
I loved tekken 3, I just couldn't get into 1&2. I played the first 3 on the Tekken 5 game.
🎉
i prefer tekken 2 over tekken 3
Looks at the thumbnail & reading the title: i thought the title of the video was talking about why the girl in Heihachi's arms was hot😁😁
I was disappointed to find out this video isn't about Anna Williams arcade ending
One track in the game was stolen from Prince, Prince's track called Loose!.
Is this a reupload or is a lot of people just making Tekken 2 content right now?
I hate that Paul, after standing toe to toe with Kazuya and beating Heihachi, now means absolutely nothing to the overall plot.
Jun really tried to fix Kazuya with some punani
Yep. Playstation sure took the baton from Nintendo and Sega in the 16bit generation. I thought Playstation would be another 3D0 or Atari Jaquare at the time.
Tekken > Crack
Top Hat 2024
Whoa! I'm getting boned up over here with all the hotness.
Y’all don’t understand…
Tekken 2 was the SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT…
Why do people always get this wrong saying that devil or angel were hard to beat they were easy . Kazuya ws the hard one he would do a 20 hit combo to win devil was easy. Kazuya was a machine intent on making you his bitch
Who's the girl in the thumbnail? Nina?
I just hope namco can make the newest installment of their fighting game franchise not suck. Capcom and netherrealm studios made the newest mortal kombat and street fighter pookakke. From the graphics looking like a gummy or charging insane amounts of money for crappy costumes and of course charging $70 for a ps2 mk1 game on switch , boons lady boy and the wokeness of mk is sad enough.
What wokeness?
Ah great, another shit take.
Just my opinion but I prefer tekken 3 over tekken 2
Why is your footage so bad? It's glitching so badly.
I have never seen this happen when I emulate this game.
Yoshimitsu Losing health just by using a sidestep move should be removed... its not even funny anymore...
The blonde chick in the thumbnail lookin weird
I still listen to the intro ost at the gym!!! 💪💪
it still is, it's the best tekken ever made. unless you're a zoomer of course
T3 improved everything from T2 except for the atmospheric sound tracks
Dead or alive was way way better
Come on now. Tekken 3 was far more revolutionary than Tekken 2.
Only one of these games shifted PlayStations.
My first w
Nah
Meh. Who cares about virtua fighter ripoffs?
Lol , someone feels sorry for his dead franchise. My condolences. Jump to our ship. Its the ONLY ship
If you were a teenager in the 90s life was great you could live space was respected and there was always something tight coming out and nothing was weak or pussified and woke like today's Times this game still regarded one of the very best Tekken masterpieces ever created and the man has spoken and Anna almost had the best ending If Nina hadn't ruin it
Tekken 3 was and is the best Tekken game.
Only in terms of game play. Characters, music, atmosphere is mediocre. Story is decent though.
