While I agree with others that this is now out of date, I've found that using the iphone microphone to record a bit of music being played on another device will give you a usable audio file to assign to a ringtone. Okay, so it's not going to be a HiFi stereo slice of music direct from your iTunes, but then again, IT'S A RINGTONE, who cares. This works very well, Many thanks!

I recently installed iOS 17 on my iPhone 12 Pro. Your lesson works up to the point of exporting the new ringtone. You need to modify that step to the new iOS 17. It still works but there are new steps that must be taken to export it to the phone properly.

Make sure you go into advanced settings and turn on record while the app is in background. That way you can record off of UA-cam. Weeeeeeeeee

I had no music so I took a step further and converted UA-cam to mp3 on google. Went under files instead of music and added the song I wanted. Now I needs better song for my woman’s ringtone. Thanks for the instruction!
