I love watching you do these by hand, it's getting to be a lost art with most renderings being done with computer software. Your definitely one of the last really great designers.
I still draw on paper before I start on my projects to give me an idea where I'm going with it. Then I'll start cutting paper and tapping it together like if it's sheet metal
How the same guy working his magic on metal can also draw such beautiful scetches, creating superb lines on paper as well in metal will never not amaze me, a true artist! Thanks for amazing me again.
A true master. I've been watching Chip Foose delivering masterpiece after masterpiece for two decades now. I'm getting old, he's getting old and everyone around me are getting old. Time really passes. Seasons change. But one thing's for sure. His style, his legacy is eternal. Godspeed, Chip!
Ive been sketching cars since I was in 2nd grade. Im in my 40's and this video is right up my alley. I have your sketch/render of the 'Last of the Aussie Muscle'' 2016 Ford Falcon that you drew when you toured Australia in 2017. You are an inspiration to many!
Cool. Me too.. but I thought I was decent until I saw Chip draw for the first time on the RIDES cable TV show in the speedbird episode. My favorite automobiles are pre 80s, especially 50s and early 60s.. what are some of your favorites?
This man never wakes up wishing he had talent to create something great while setting on the couch getting ready to leave for a job that makes him dead inside a little more each day. God bless you Chip, you followed your dreams!
AMAZING.. Chip you are a legend, I got into marker rendering as a student in the early 90's.. Your art and ideas really helped me find a direction. THANKYOU!! :)
Thank you for showing how you press down on the hand brush to create a bit of a blot and then do fine lines off it, really gives a depth and shows off the curves, what a great technique and using the different mediums to create the picture, felt pen, airbrush and then hand brush with what looks like a pinstriping dagger, great inspiration for someone like myself that dabbles in auto artwork !
As a wannabe car designer from when I was a teenager back in the 70’s, (I’m 67 now) I wish they had the high school programs to be able to learn how to do automotive design. Other than mechanical drawing which in hindsight would have been the stepping stone into the automotive realm. Watching you take an existing vehicle and create a one off version of it utilizing your creativity to enhance it and take it to the level is mind bending for me. Having the right guidance back then to point me in that direction no doubt would have been the way to pursue the career that I am so passionate about. Yourself, Gene Winfield, Richard Zocchi, Thom Taylor, the Barris’ Brothers all have the vision and have created such masterpieces of automotive art and then building them is incredible to witness. I had the opportunity to meet you at Lead East back in the early 2000’s when you were doing an autograph session. Getting to watch line draw you vision into a 3D rendering is astounding; you truly are a master at your craft, and an inspiration for the direction of automotive customization for many generations!!
You always amaze me,the creativity. When I think, there's no drawing superior to the last one. You always know how to make it better. Hope one day know you in person. My respects always.
Just love to see his work. As an artist, my hardest part is shadows and careful about light reflections. Chip is sooo very good with that and if I win the lottery I would buy one of his beautiful works. Keep em common!
I’ve been following Chip Foose for almost 30 years now and it still hits me almost emotionally watching him create his designs. Such an immensely talented guy, I’m lucky and extremely happy to have met him twice, he’s definitely an eternal legend in my book
I cleaned out a box I had from my days of drafting by hand on a drafting board for ten years. Templates... I must have had fifty of them. Not as many circle templates as you... but a lot of templates. Also perfectly cleaned and operational Stadler Pens. I did Architecture and Engineering drafting. Sorry for the ramble, but your collection brought back memories. Oh and I am keeping all this stuff...
I have watched you now for a good many years Chip. Kind of thinking its about the same time this youtube thing started. I am thinking two thousand six or seven as a guess, I am old now and forgot if I ate breakfast. There were the Barrette and Jackson auctions and do believe seen you at a sema video also. Never in person as I too used to draw, so admire good talents. I admire anyone who has talent in say mechanic or fabrication, even a few great actors are on this list of many.
When I saw Chip using many different stencils circles what not I went out and got me a few stencils kits. I have to say using the stencil makes drawings look a whole lot better the lines look cleaner.
You can draw like that if you actually go to art class instead of hanging out in the parking lot at Dos Pueblos. Killer drawing Chip. Thank you for sharing it with us.
SKILLS! Chip is a fellow alumni of mine and we both attended Art Center College of Design! Chip graduated in Transportation design in 1990 and I graduated in 1997 in Trans too!
Chip, I never get bored watching you draw.
I love watching you do these by hand, it's getting to be a lost art with most renderings being done with computer software. Your definitely one of the last really great designers.
To watch Chip drawing is therapeutic
Yes! 100% agree. lost skills
I still draw on paper before I start on my projects to give me an idea where I'm going with it. Then I'll start cutting paper and tapping it together like if it's sheet metal
