    If your fill plug won’t come out you can fill trans from top of shifter.

    Break the top screw loose first but remove it last. It will create a vacuum and slow the draining so you don’t make such a mess

      Hey Quantum, I know I am not the owner of this channel but I saw your comment and albeit old its a great question. My first question is do you have an auto or manual trans?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  2 роки тому +1

      I no longer have a manual. I have a whole build of my new auto, but yes the synchromesh worked awesome for years and was in the transmission when I sold it.

    So I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler And I’m leaking transmission fluid. I’m not a car mechanic my sister is lol… I’d like to try and change things myself. Does it sound like I need to change the gasket? Is their a gasket?! I did change my 02 sensor and it took me an hour! Only because I have short arms and couldn’t reach it! Uhhg! Short girl problems!

    • @larryalexander4833

      Could be from several locations depending on type of vehicle and if auto standard trans and if 4x4?? Check pan gasket and dip stick o ring if auto ? Check front seals on either standard or auto and output seals also . Just a few places that tend to leak

  • @kurtroth7783

    Question for ya. Did you use just 1 quart of synchromesh and the rest Trans fluid? Or did you fill the trans completely with synchromesh.

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  6 років тому

      The whole thing with synchromesh, you don’t want to mix different types of fluids.

    • @kurtroth7783
      @kurtroth7783 6 років тому

      Muddy Beards 4X4 Isn’t the synchromesh an additive tho?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  6 років тому

      Synchromesh is just a manual transmission fluid. It does have additives built into it though. It is the recommended fluid for the newer TJ’s NV3550, and lots of other vehicles with manual transmissions. Just not for the ax15 which is what I have in my 97 TJ, Chrysler just recommends 10w30 oil.

    • @kurtroth7783

      Muddy Beards 4X4 Alright what about the AX5 trans? Still the same deal, just use the synchromesh ?

      Bo Knows it’s a 17mm hex but a good cheat to make a tool is use a bolt head that fits in the hole and lock two nuts together on the end. BOOM

      It has about 98k on the odometer, but there is no original drivetrain, I believe the guy I bought it from 9 years ago said he blew pretty much everything up and put Cherokee stuff in it, lol. So transmission miles.. unknown. Sorry not helpful..
