It'd be great if you could check out The Jam at some point too. They were fronted by guitarist/vocalist Paul Weller, who was a massive influence on the Gallagher brothers from Oasis, and even featured on the Oasis song Champagne Supernova (for a more punky song by them, check out In The City.....for one of their more well known songs, Town Called Malice). The Damned are the band that stood the test of time! They evolved while sticking to their roots and keep putting on engaging, energizing shows! The Damned actually also had a huge influence on the gothic rock movement since the lead singer Dave Vanian often impersonated a vampire on stage in their early days and some of their songs were also proto-goth. I really love them and recommend "I Just Can't Be Happy Today" and "Smash It Up" (it's a two-part song and you need to do both parts), both from their second album "Machine Gun Etiquette".
And considering The Clash: you're right, they are probably one of the most influential bands of all-time and definitely the most influential punk band especially on alternative rock bands all through the 80s up to now. Their frontman Joe Strummer is a true icon, up there with John Lennon or Bob Marley. He was a very wise and intelligent guy and there are quotes of him all over modern pop culture. You really should do an album reaction on the whole "London Calling" album. It is truly one of the true masterpieces in music and one of the best albums of all time. Like rock 'n' roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis used to say: all killer, no filler ! I'm sure you will love it.
And post-punk should be logical to be your next genre to try out after discovering punk. There is so much to learn there as well, especially when I see that you're into bands like Interpol. Bands like Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure (in their early days), The Smiths and many others are the founding fathers (and mothers) for many sounds today and bands like Interpol, The Killers, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Editors, TV on the Radio, Arcade Fire and so many more are hugely influenced by the post-punk movement (which derived from punk and was also the forerunner of what later became gothic rock).
