Thanks guys. This iconic song sung by the Gibb brothers, released in 1977 was the #1 song in 1978 for 12 consecutive weeks. No auto-tune, digital technology, voice and instrument replication, AI, etc, just plain natural talent.

Barry's high notes are called falsetto. It's a technique used to get a higher range than normal singing. And yes, Barry is a master (actually all of them are) of the falsetto voice.

History Check: Since 1977 it is the fifth biggest single of all time with 31 million single sold worldwide 👍claimed from in a survey of all radiostations around the globe as most airplayed song of all time in 2017- every 20 seconds - this plays everywhere around the world and for sure it is the most iconic song of the 70´s decade.
It’s a part of our shared cultural heritage now - one of those pop miracles that just never gets old, never wears off, never loses its charge. It remains alive. And indeed one of the most influenced and covered pop songs in history. And for sure played in every black movie in the last thirty years, because it is the blackest song from three white dudes. Michael Jackson inspiration for the Thriller album. 🔥

Thanks for your reaction! The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too ua-cam.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/v-deo.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: ua-cam.com/video/WH_j90fCIk4/v-deo.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out ua-cam.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/v-deo.html. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: ua-cam.com/video/MT9vRHSWNbk/v-deo.html. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you ua-cam.com/video/CA4CInDnTk8/v-deo.html.

I once heard there was a point at which the Bee Gees donated all future proceeds from their music to charity, saying they had earned enough money for themselves and their families. Well, it seems this is not true! I googled it and they did donate the proceeds from "Too Much Heaven", but that was it.

Check out “to love somebody”, the 1967 version…they wrote it for Ottis Redding, but he died in a plane crash before he could record it, so they went ahead and did it. The twins were still teenagers and Barry was either 19 or 20 depending on when this was recorded! Just amazing! Y all time fav group. Both Too much Heaven and Staying alive were from the 70’s. Check out “Tragedy”, if you like funk, try “love you inside and out”, check out “ nights on broadway ( the midnight special version), “ how deep is your love”, “ Alone”…to name a few😎

The talent that runs through the Gibb family is insane. Barry is actually a baritone. They are singing in falsetto here. Barry has a wicked falsetto, most singers cannot sing full songs in falsetto. Robin had an indescribably beautiful vibrato. The best voice I have ever heard. Maurice had a huge range and a deep smooth sound. He could play multiple instruments. They all could but Maurice was the best instrumentalist. They wrote more than 900 songs for themselves and others. They produced their own records and wrote and produced for many other artists. They rivaled the Beatles. In my opinion they surpassed the Beatles.

3:23 Fun fact - for years and years they had put out music when they were just starting out but they were dropping in and out of fame because they were still trying to find their sound. It wasn't until they got a new producer to tell them when recording 'Nights on Broadway', "hey Barry, can you try doing an Aerosmith type scream at the end?" Barry just went, "ok i'll give it a go" and he did, and this AMAZING falsetto came out. And the man didn't even know he could do it!! XD XD

Idk if this is a thing in the US but in Australia it’s often taught to do CPR chest compressions and sing this in your head because it’s the perfect speed for chest compressions basically and the name obviously fits too with ‘stayin alive’

    Skating:
    (I’m paraphrasing)
    “I’m too short and stubby.”
“Your should be better with your center closer to the ground.”

It would have been weird if a woman sang it. The first line is about being a woman's man. LOL You two are cute & fun to watch.
