Picking Ketel Marte is such a lazy pick, everyone knows how good he is.
Marc has no clue what "underrated" means.
All stars cannot be underrated, they're recognized as a good player by being chosen to be a part of the Allstar game
No we do not 😂😂😂😂 Mickey mouse stats
@@aroundthefur33 Untrue, ‘underrated’ is relative. One could even assert that Ohtani is underrated, if you believe he’s better than he gets credit for, despite getting tons of credit and acknowledgment already.
Ketel is literally the diamondbacks most known player. It makes zero sense to pick him.
He is one of the most underrated player in mlb tho
Fun fact: Troy Tulowitzki was in the package for the infamous trade with Jeff Hoffman as the centrepiece
“Ketel Marte is a lazy pick.” He put up a historic hitting streak in the postseason last year, and is following it up with a top 10 OPS this season, yet no one says much about him. He’s absolutely the correct pick
no he isnt. Noone ever talks about the dbacks in general so makes sense that ketel marte wouldnt be talked about nationally but when they do talk about dbacks you can bet they mention ketel marte
Albert suarez and anthony santander are both EXTREMELY underrated, suarez started slow, but he now has a 3.18 era and had 18 and 1/3 scoreless innings between 3 starts. Tony is just amazing, his issue is homer or die, 38hr but .235
Definitely Suarez!
Video Idea: Go through each team and come up with a list of X players (X is dealer's choice) that each team would protect in a hypothetical expansion draft, if it happened this offseason.
For the dodgers I would go with Alex Vesia. His fastball has as much rise as anyone else in baseball. He has a sub 2 era in over 50 innings along with being 99th percentile xBA against. Although his walk rate is high, his strikeout rate is 96th percentile making him incredibly underrated in my opinion. He also gets 0 recognition from anyone.
Agree!
i agree with you, but also gavin stone is up there
kopech?
@@matthewcrasko4031kopeck is pretty well known
@@matthewcrasko4031kopech has been very good for the dodgers but was pretty bad for the white Sox. His ERA is almost 4 this year while vesia has a sub two.
for the dodgers i would of gone with either gavin stone or alex vesia. stone has a 3.44 ERA including the first cg shutout by a dodgers rookie since ryu in 2013 just to show how consistent he is. vesia has a sub 2 ERA and strikes out 12 per 9
Yeah, Gavin Stone for me too.
If not Austin Wells for the yanks for sure Michael Tonkin, dude has been awesome for the bullpen since coming over
Phillies has to be either Matt Strahm or Jeff Hoffman their both great Bullpen pieces and r both all stars
My boy Austin Wells is getting some more love, you love to see it 🔥
thank you for the dumper respect. he's a monster, my favorite player without question
Everyone knows how good Teoscar is. Bro dropped the ball on Alex Vesia
Before even watching the video as a Rays fan Edwin Uceta is the answer.
Sox fan. Good shout on Connor Womg he gets no love because he only really started playing last year in his age 27, never hit very well, and has always been shrouded as one of the unspectacular pieces we recieved in the mookie betts trade. He fell off a cliff in the second half. Refsnyder has proved this year he could be a legit starting outfielder.. yoshida has completely turned his season around in a months time so he could be considered at this point. Tanner houck, despite being an AS does not get the love he deserves. Some of the nastiest stuff in baseball.
So glad you chose Luis Garcia as your underrated pick for the Nats.
Lindor is a very strange pick for underrated build this would have been a good opportunity to show some love to Sean Manaea.
The reason Zach Neto was hitting ninth was because he actually asked to do so… Ron Washington knows Neto is legit and hit him where he felt most comfortable until he had to move him up because he was raking.
I agree with your Cardinals pick. Burleson is doing great so far at the plate, he leads the Cardinals in home runs and rbis. 21 home runs, 70 rbis
I surprisingly only had a different opinion for a handful of teams. Well done and well argued for each pick!
For my jays Spencer Horwitz continues to get slept on man he’s been consistent for us
Yainer diaz for the astros, christopher walker for the d-bags, josh naylor for guardians, vesia for dodgers but id agree with the rest
don't hate the framer pick but I would've picked Mauricio Dubon, plays everywhere, hits relatively well. gold glover.
always on point. thx man
As a padres fan I’d argue jurickson profar or probably Jackson merill are the underrated ones
This is the problem with baseball. The analysis is literally just reading off a bunch of stats. Literally no actual nuance
singer, and fermin have been amazing
4:20 very true but nimmo was one of the hottest players of the mlb at one point this year
Seiya Suzuki… “you don’t want him hitting 3rd or 4th”… he hits 3rd… therefore, “underrated”
Seiya Suzuki hitting two home runs the day this video coming out is proof
and a triple
Jose Siri for the rays is what I’d have
I would also put Jake McCarthy in the "most underrated player" for the Dbacks. He has been EXCELLENT this season
Framber has really stepped up for the Astros 😊
For the Astros I wouldn't even say Framber is underappreciated. I mean he was instrumental in the Astros winning the WS in 2022 and holds the single season quality start streak, I'm pretty sure he's appreciated plenty, even among Astros haters, so I don't think he's underrated. Astros wise I'd say an underrated and underappreciated player is Yainer Diaz, because he isn't talked about enough as one of the league's top catchers, even though he is. Among qualified catchers he is: #1 in batting average, 5th in OBP, 3rd in SLG and 3rd in OPS. He's also one of the fastest catchers in the league. You brought up Cal Raleigh, Yainer has better numbers in ever category apart from HRs where Yainer has 15 to Cal's 27. And defensively, the guy caught a no hitter not even 10 games into him being the everyday catcher, and about 2 weeks ago was a strike away from calling his 2nd no hitter in the same season. He also has a better caught stealing % than Cal.
I'd say Tayler Scott is more underrated, Yainer had a good year last year so there is some hype, not as much as there should be but there is some. Tayler Scott was a no name from South Africa that played for 7 teams in 4 years and in Japan for 2. He has a 1.92 ERA(210 ERA+) 1.03 WHIP 63Ks in 61 innings. That's down from a 9ERA in 46 innings over 3 years.
@@ketch0_041that would've also made a better choice than Framber as far as underappreciated players go. And yea Yainer had a good year last year (actually he was probably the best hitting catcher in the league, and as a backup) but I still feel like he isn't talked about enough among the league's top catchers. The fact that he was the best hitting catcher last year means there should've been even more hype surrounding him.
If Satander is on this list I hope the Cubs swoop in
Aside from Lindor I would’ve gone David Peterson or Mark Vientos for the Mets
My opinion is Andrew Vaughn for the White Sox.
Cubs underrated player: Mike Tauchman
blue jays is spencer horwitz & reds is andrew abbott
Blue jays ernie clement too
Also Rob Refsnyder would be good on the Red Sox
Finally Santander gets some respect by non Orioles fans.
Ketel been getting repect for years
Disagree with your angels pick Marc. Should’ve been Jose Soriano tbh
Jake burger is a guy that everyone knows is good
I like Oswaldo Cabrera for the Yankees
Not sure Marc knows what underrated means lol
Nah fr tho, kinda makes you scratch your head, if EVERYONE is saying Lindor or Ketel Marte are underrated, are they really underrated? Like we all know how good these players are lol
@@widion69 yeah everyone considers Lindor a Top 5 SS in league at worst. And Ketel it’s pretty easily top 3 2B in the league too
@@zerokozmonah bro he IS the best 2B in mlb
@@WavesAlexforget about Jose Altuve? Bro is the definition of a second baseman!
@@PeaceUpH-Town Altuve is goated but ketel clears tbh
The most underrated met is mark vientos. If he played from the beginning of the year he would be on pace for 40 homer while hitting nearly 300. And yet, nobody talks about him
.278 is nearly .300 now?
@@chunkymonkey428Yeah kinda
I said the same thing
@@belarod5295So if someone was batting .378 that would be nearly 400?
bro lindor is so overrated
I go Gavin Stone for the Dodgers, after all the pitcher injury’s he has been such a reliable arm.
That’s exactly what I thought too. He’s actually the best pitcher on their team, and one of my favorite players period.
“He tickles you when he lets go of the balls” AYOOOO MARK
Urm
What the hell
@@NathanielFryBaseball 🤣
I think Xavier Edwards of the Miami Marlins is underrated not Jake Burger because he is there best player
Willy Adames for the brewers is a good pick, love the guy. I think Tobias Myers would’ve been a good pick as well. Is first in all of baseball with a 1.86 ERA since June 1st. Dude is a stud.
Answer has to be Tobias Myers in my mind. Everybody knows Willy Adames
nah william contreras
Most people don’t know how good Yainer Diaz is.
He got off to a slow start this year too, last year Astros fans were screaming for him to get more playing time, and less for washed out Maldonado. No disrespect, we love Machete, but he's old and just can't hack it anymore.
I feel like most people know who Yainer Diaz is he was talked about as an offensive juggernaut before the season started
I mean I’m a big fan of him, but he’s just beginning to become an all-star player this year
@belarod5295 astros fans kn🎉ow who he is for sure, but the topic of the video is underappreciated players. . . and I feel like Yainer isn't being talked about enough around the league among baseball fans and sports talking heads as one of the leage's top catchers, even though he is. For example the video talked about Cal Raleigh and his OPS+, yet Yainer has a better OPS+ and numbers in every stat than Cal apart from HRs (15 HRs for Yainer to 27 for Cal). As a catcher he's batting over .300 and thats not something you see very often from a catcher. He's also caught a no hitter days into him being the everyday catcher, and was a strike away from catching his 2nd no hitter about 2 weeks ago, so yea IMO he's not as appreciated as he should be TBH
@@cassianandor4103 I’m confused how Cal Raleigh is underrated cause people were saying the same thing last year when he broke out. Just cause he had a slow start people are acting like this is surprising. I might be too deep into baseball to understand what a normal fan would think so you might be right. I read too many mlb articles I feel like it’s hard for already-proven players to be underrated.
My opinion is Tyler Holton for the Tigers
Finally someone notices how good he is
Agreed
Yeah, his 2023 was absolutely unreal. Lefties are allergic to him.
YES. Fun fact: his cutter can cut glass
Agreed, carps not a bad pick though.
Joey Bart is the most underrated player on the Pirates. He is turning into the star the Giants drafted.
I was thinking Yainer for the Astros. Dudes outperforming Adley Rutschman and other top catchers in most metrics both offensive and defensive and you don’t really hear much conversation about him.
I'm not quite sure if you know what "underrated" really means. Sure, you can make the odd "Everyone is still underrating Lindor", but you cannot play that card almost every single time; the number of times you pick the clearly best player on a team that everyone knows about, weak. Ok, Josh Smith is a good call, as is maybe Singer (I'd go for Fermin, because everybody already knows how great Pasquatsh is), but picking Rooker or Marte is a bit underwhelming for "underrated"
Until Lindor gets a well-deserved All Star, nod as a Met he is underrated. Absolutely mental
I personally would have gone with Peterson for the Mets, but you can’t go wrong with Lindor.
10:44 as much as I love Wong I don’t understand how you put him at good baseball man in your catchers video then put him underrated here, for the Red Sox I would’ve preferred to see Abreu, Cedane, or O’Neil
Cal Raleigh definitely isn’t underrated in Seattle we know he’s our guy. Bryan woo should of been the pick
Jhonkensy Noel is most underrated player in mlb Cleveland Guardians
0:01 video starts here btw
thx
Thank god found it
YOUR A LIFE SAVER

'not all heroes wear capes' as they say
Anthony Santander is absolutely under rated. Not just for Orioles but for the entire league.
I agree 100% Can't believe he wasn't an all star
@@karlschlenzig6884he was tho
Yo Mark,
Everyone in Baltimore knows how good Santander is, he's been great for a while and is the backbone of the Baltimore team.
Literally just picked the best player on the team for all the small market teams. Brandon Lowe, Hunter Greene, Cal Raleigh, Garrett Crochet, Ketel Marte etc. are not underrated players by baseball fans
"It's pretty hard to find an underrated player on the Cubs"
What about Michael Busch and Porter Hodge?
For the Guardians right now it’s gotta be Jhonkensy Noel. Big Christmas has 12 HR and a .950+ OPS in about 45 games this year since being inserted in the lineup. Insane, and he’s going to be needing some love soon
My prediction is Gavin lux or will smith for my dodgers
Will smith fell off 2nd half its lux
@@ernestmaturan1389 will smith is the best defense I’ve catcher in the national league. But you def are correct about his offense not doing so hot
@@brojans2053nah will smith fell off bad
@@brojans2053Will smith is good defensively but I think Patrick Bailey is a little better tho
@@BaseballFacts_YT that’s fair
Xavier Edward’s or maybe valente bellozo for my marlins
As a cards fan I think it’s Alec Burlson but Winn has been sneaky good
Jeff Hoffman is a solid take coming from a Phillies fan but I’d personally say Aaron Nola. He’s been under-appreciated his entire career despite being an elite pitcher his entire career. Yes he does give up the long ball a lot recently but he’s an innings eater that’s good at racking up strikeouts, avoiding walks, and has some of the best breaking balls in the MLB. He should have at least 3 all star appearances in his career but he only has one unfortunately.
10 underrated players from around the league
Michael Toglia
Spencer Steer
Sean Manea
Tyler Holton
Christian Walker
Colton Cowser
Bryce Miller
JJ Bleday
Pete Fairbanks
Ryan Jeffers
This man just kept picking all-stars
lindor is acutally first in fwar in the nl and 5th in all of baseball
The Tigers is hard. You could go with Veirling, Holten, or Carpenter.
What about Jose leclerc for the Texas Rangers?
Cardinals really have more then 1 underrated player. Burleson is one of them. I think Donovan or Winn can be in that position too.
For Milwaukee the most underrated player is Blake Perkins
Hits well for average
Few home runs
Sound defence
(I also would say that you could argue Sal Frelick or Brice Turang could be the most underrated as well)
Perkins has had a very good season for us this year, no doubt. I was thinking about him, too. But for me, it’s gotta be Tobias Myers. Dude has been one of the best pitchers in baseball and came absolutely out of nowhere
If you want a really underrated player for the pirates it’s Kyle Nicolas he’s been lights out in the bullpen
Nick Gonzales is more underated
Just so you guys know, era+ and ops+ just shows you how much better than league average you are, if your ops+ or era+ is over 100, it means you are above average at your position.
Edit: 15:19 JOSH NAYLOR
clase is still underrated too. what he is doing is historic
Luis Garcia Jr is criminally underrated. One of the best second basemen in the NL
Picking Lindor over Mark Vientos?
How is it not Vientos for your Mets
Michael Busch. As a Cubs fan I feel even Cubs fans don't give him enough love
Bailey Ober is criminally underrated
Connor Wong has been really good, but Wilyer Abreu is severely underrated.
Abreu, Refsnyder, Rafaela, Red Sox got a lot of underrated players
The Red Sox are underrating refaela themselves by always batting him 9th
As a red sox fan, im happy he didnt say duran, ges starting to get recognition winning all star mvp
On the Phillies Alec Bohm
mariners is bryan woo
OMFG Raisel is not having a down year. By far the best closer in the MLB and people do know who he is. If we are talking about underrated for the Braves should’ve been Spencer Schwellenbach
I love Jake Burger
It’s wells or Volos.
As a Dodgers fan, i feel like it should be Alex Vesia because hes been untouchable. Teo is clutch, don't get me wrong, but vesia has won us a ton of games. You could even make a case for Kopech.

Wilyer Abreu is the most underrated Red Sox player imo. Might very well win ROY this year (even though his odds are low and that just further proves my point)
For the Mets I personally think your 3b Mark Vientos is more underrated, he is a super solid player no one talks about, everyone expected Lindor to play like this when he was traded to the Mets from Cleveland, Ik Lindor has had some down seasons but we all know Lindor is a really good player.
Micheal Busch, Tyson Miller, or Pete Crow Armstrong for me or even Ian Happ ppl know him but he’s 800+ OPS
Edit: Marc is a casual Brent rooker Zach Neto and Seiya are not underrated Marc is lazy lindor is not underrated and fuck the mets😊
Duuuude no no no. Lindor and K Marte are NOT underrated. The correct answer is David Peterson!! U totally blew that! The answer is Jake McCarthy for Dbacks!! Marlins answer is Xavier Edwards. Overall tho love wells, Burleson, Greene, etc. but it’s an underrated list, dudes that don’t get credit. Lindor and Marte get plenty!!!
As an Orioles fan, I would go with Albert Suarez. He has stepped up SO much this season, is pitched to an era in the 3.5, and yeah he only has a little more than 100 innings, and he only goes 5-6 innings a start, but he leads the AL in scoreless starts
He has a 3.18 ERA now. He's been arguably their best starter this year. Even better than Burnes.
Dude cal Raleigh and Luke Riley
Raley
Coming from a Red Sox fan, personally I think Wong is a bit overrated. Very little of his success, over most of this season especially, has been supplemental. While every little bit is great, Yoshida is probably the most underrated. There was trade for him over the off-season and now that he’s back from injury he’s been arguably the Sox best hitter aside from Jarren Duran. He’s knocked in a bunch of runs and scored a bunch too. He doesn’t play the field at all but the offensive consistency I think makes up for it
I know he made the all-star team, and I know Chris Sale is leading the Cy Young race to overshadow him, but Reynaldo Lopez has been incredible for my Braves. No one expected this level of production!
I'm not even a Twins fan and I think Ryan Jeffers is underrated
He was hot to start the year, but he was pretty bad in June and July. Still good, but Ober has definitely been the surprise breakout this year.
@ferdinandfoch7816 I understand where you're coming from. But it seems like nobody gives Jeffers his flowers and I think he's a talented catcher 🤷♂️
first half of the season for sure
As a tigers fan, Carpenter is NOT the most underrated player on the tigers. He rarely plays, yes he has power but not much else. Matt vierling is easily the most underrated player. He's never spoken about, but he can play anywhere with top tier defense, good speed, rarely goes 0-3/0-4, also consistent doubles and triples.
