Derek, revisiting some of your earlier vids. It's amazing how you've evolved through all the episodes, yet you are the same man! I'm truly a die hard fan of your channel. I just bought my dream project truck, a 66 C10, and will be utilizing a ton of knowledge that you've imparted. You're making a difference and are very much appreciated.

My Dad had a white C10 short bed stepside when I was a kid. Had that same bronze interior, too. Straight six with a four speed trans. 1st was a granny gear. Only ever used it when carrying or pulling heavy loads, so normal takeoff was in 2nd gear. Engine was running bad when he first bought it. We pulled out the engine only to find that the problem was number six. She had a broken pushrod and the rocker had slipped off to one side, wearing a hole in the back of the valve cover. It was at the very back of the valve train, can't remember whether it was exhaust or intake valve, probably exhaust. He did the right thing, didn't check anything else, put in a new pushrod and rocker, and got a different valve cover from a junk yard (being there was no JB Weld back then) and we dropped her back in. She ran like that until Dad sold her.

It's hilarious how you find these vehicles (great also how you involve your kids and teach them the value of doing 'hard things')and put yourself into these situations but then always find a way out and get back home with a real gem. People take for granted how to fix old cars and trucks and when the "Big One " hits you'll be the only guy driving down the road. Incredible how you breathe new life into these long-forgotten vehicles. Rust and all. Makes ' a guy' want to start a project of his own. LOL Thank you and keep it up!

With the 1st video I looked at (the 500 mile Chevelle rescue) I thought to myself, "This guy's a dope - who does this on purpose?"
I then had an attack of conscience when I thought about some of the cars I've owned or worked on for friends - & realized a kindred spirit.
Including the 1 time I had to change my spark plugs on a -20 degree day on my '75 Bel Air. That was fun & educational.
So, I'm subscribed now, & thanks for all the dust, rust, poor decisions & kinda o.k. results. Oh yeah, & the deadpan humor's a plus.
Keep up the good (?) work!

@@ViceGripGarage Just a little bit. Resurrected my 1st car, bought cars that in retrospect I really shouldn't have, taken parts from one to keep another going, & for good measure: a close friend had a '75 Monte Carlo that he tried to break during the week, & I spent the weekend fixing. Yeah, you could say I've been there, done that. :)

I was watching a fella blowing smoke and rubbing his hand for heat..Well It reminded this guy about a time when he was a very young man. This guy was a young paratrooper living in a trailer smaller than a 4 door Electra 225. Working on my pile of crap of a car in the cold dark night. luckily I had a drop cord and house lamp minus the shade. It was just GREAAAAAT.

I've meet my other me, Ok well twenty some odd light years younger. As I too, have the bassakards way of tellin it how it be. Glad to see clearly, I'm now officially not the only abbienormal one on the planet, as I for many years, better add few more in there..
As my Ma says,"from conception, I've been a PIA", cause I will go outta my way to do everythang, that I'm told I can't make work, work!
BTW, for all that say your not normal, thus makin you abbienormal, refer those unknowing Knowitall's to, the definition of, "Normal!", and watch them suddenly understand.
Which BTW, has never happened to date as far back as I can remember, because being Knowitalls they can't grasp the truth before their bloodshot eyes.
Not even when Ole Mr. Webster, takes a big bite outta both their cheeks, and spits em at their little piggies.. Nope, those that know, know, and those that think they know, can do the homework. Ya know!
I say, crusty beauty rings, and the faded center caps, be perfect balance of chrome, gone faded and crusty, matches Her natural beauty marks just fine.
This has been a broadcast from local broadcast affiliates, as a service advisory, from lands far far to the south. Well not that far south, because it's actully northeast Tejas, the only country that can be a state too.
See, and not nary, a four lettered verb, adjustive, are pronoun utter once. My Ma be proud, but she ain't gonna believe it. LMFAO, and C/10 purdy for ole gurl, but dem ole gurls, gotta have rings to put a sparkle in em eye's!

Hint er roonie here: PB Blaster is your friend, if you get a big steel ball penne hammer and hit the side of the spindle on the flat next to where the ball joint connects the resonance will break the interference fit and you won't need a pickle fork that usually rips the grease cover over the ball joint and proceeds to leak grease all over the brakes when your towing. Also I'm sure there's a cheap junk yard brake swap to save you a lot of money and probably somebody else's life when your hauling way too much weight on the trailer and the brakes are over loaded.

If you haven't already, grab a 1 1/4" front sway bar off a late 70s-80s 1 - Ton Suburban. You'll need the brackets too. I put one on my worn-out 67 C10, along with a rear bar, and can now actually keep up with traffic on freeway on-r ramps and curves. Huge improvement for relatively little cash outlay.

I have found the easiest way to lower a vehicle is as follows. Tape a stick to the fender pointing down with the end above the ground at the distance you want to lower the vehicle. Turn on a hose pipe with a trigger spray outlet. Heat the spring in one spot with oxy-acetylene until the spring starts to sag. As the stick touches the ground quickly spray the spring with cold water. This stops the lowering and re-tempers the steel at the same time. Make sure you are wearing safety gear as you don't want scalding steam and water in your face and eyes. Should not take more than 5 minutes a corner. I am joking but I have seen this done, LOL. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your humour.
