I remember....mid 1980s....and I waited for a new issue to come in the mailbox in a bown paper sleeve. The early Alan Moore issues.... Gothic Horror stuff. Met him at a comic con and had him sign issue 21. Loved the old Berni Wrightson stuff though. The Swamp Thing title got me started collecting comics!
Smartest thing ever, putting CCR's Born On The Bayou mixed with scenes of the comic books. Just like how Black Sabbath's Iron Man was used in Robert Downey Jr's movie. This intro makes mw wish I seen this in theaters.
I love the intro for this movie, showing all the comic adventures and every time I hear that song from CCR,I think of this intro. I sure do hope they come out with a 3rd Swamp thing movie someday,he's long overdue for that. And of course here's to you Mr.Durock RIP.
Love the music, hard too believe Dick Durrock is gone, he'll always be Swampthing, and the evil hulk creature on the Incredible Hulk episode, The First.
This intro was my first introduction to Creedance Clearwater Revival. Since then, Born on the Bayou has always been my favorite song of theirs and i will always think of this intro, every time i hear that song.
As a kid, I was convinced that this song was written specifically for Swampthing. I am also going to get a tattoo on my left arm of Swampthing walking through knee deep water, and it's going to say "Born on a Bayou" in a wavey font style on the water in front of him. This intro gave me all the confidence I'll ever need for life, can't wait for the new tv series!!!!
This was, remarkably, the first time I'd gotten to hear this great old Creedence song in full (or nearly), when I saw it over 30 years ago. So . . . thanks, Swamp Thing.
was smoking with my bro n we were talking about movies n out of no were i thought of this movie n i havent seen it in 15 years lol love this movie ,swamp thing kicks ass
Paul Velasquez it's really cool because Arkham Asylum was used in Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing, which is naturally considered to have the best Swamp Thing stories by far.
Just putting it out there. For those that have not read the Swamp Thing comics, you don't know what you r missing. Particularly the Alan Moore series, drawn by the ultra detailed John Totleben. Trust me, it was just like reading through disturbing, compelling horror movie, but only better because it was gold in your hands.
Haha pretty good yet funny movie, I think I've seen it about 300 times, used to watch it when I was skipping school, it was always on HBO. Oh yeah and Heather Locklear was and I think still is fucking hot.
i always kinda dug swampys strangely upbeat attitude in this one. he must have gone to a motivational speaker between the first film and this sequel, lol:)
2:25 Green Lantern reference. Awesome intro. The song fits. They've gotta do a reboot flick in the DCCU. The time is right and you can reference these characters bc they all have encountered Swamp Thing. He's a part of the DCU.
I'm sure DC could do a good job with Swamp Thing now. But the question is, who could play Alec as well as voice him when he becomes part of the Green. One thing that is epic in the intro is all the comic panels. Also, rest in peace, Dick Durock. You were pretty cool as Swamp Thing. :)
I think they did it, what, some 2, 3 months ago? And his return was glorious. It took time, and yes, the Abby/Alec thing got a little stupid at some bits, but Swamp Thing returned, and he's as amazing as ever.
My grandpa got me the comic, after we were descended upon by a biker gang we were defenseless. Swamp Thing toasted Britain a movie grandpa started in. Swamp Thing my clan I guess, but they inhabited them first more compatible. Macs almost gone
I remember this movie when I was a kid. I loved it because I thought it was awesome. Now, I've grown up... and still think it's awesome (albeit in a terrible way).
This intro blew my mind as a kid.
I agree bad ass intro!
Awesome and the music just fit perfectly
Me too.
Same!
Cable TV in the 80s was a goldmine of weirdness and discovery.
RIP Dick Durock You Made Swamp thing a larger than life character in many of our hearts.
One of the best intros to a comic book movie ever made. The film is good fun too.
100%
Loved this as a kid! And was my first exposure to Swamp Thing even if I didn’t know the lore or anything.
This world needs a Guillermo Del Toro Swamp Thing movie.
Why edge of tommorow and Lord of the rings has it
Best comic book movie intro EVER!!
R.D Bergman Hell yeah.
Yes , the best.
The fight scenes were really underrated'/!!!
That is perfection. Try and top that intro. It cannot be done.
Smartest thing ever, putting CCR's Born On The Bayou mixed with scenes of the comic books. Just like how Black Sabbath's Iron Man was used in Robert Downey Jr's movie. This intro makes mw wish I seen this in theaters.
Nate Dog I'd thought Iron Man has AC/DC in it.
Pedro Sepulveda Oh. Never got to see that movie.
They Did it with the Flash Gordan Movie; so , it's not that original!
However , it is an intro I love.
I love his curt nod there as the music starts up. "Yeah, this is happening. Just roll with it."
freaking love return of swam thing awesome movie
Best intro DC comic and marvel history.
Except for WATCHMEN and Wolverines origin!!;)
LoneMyth yup
Yes , the best.
🤘😷
I love the intro for this movie, showing all the comic adventures and every time I hear that song from CCR,I think of this intro. I sure do hope they come out with a 3rd Swamp thing movie someday,he's long overdue for that. And of course here's to you Mr.Durock RIP.
🤘😷 many many awesome summers growing up with this movie....
Who remembers the green peace commercial back in the day!
Love the music, hard too believe Dick Durrock is gone, he'll always be Swampthing, and the evil hulk creature on the Incredible Hulk episode, The First.
Was 12 when I first saw this movie in 1990 on showtime ..always loved the intro ..would rewind the vcr a couple times
This brings me back to my childhood. Thank goodness for UA-cam.
This intro was my first introduction to Creedance Clearwater Revival. Since then, Born on the Bayou has always been my favorite song of theirs and i will always think of this intro, every time i hear that song.
My grandma loved him she would be proude of this intro god rest her soul
Return of Swamp Thing: The BEST kind of sequelitis.
I like this movie. but, I think this may have been the most entertaining and enjoyable part of the whole movie!!!.
0:17 They call me Swamp Thing
Loved you in CON AIR.
As a kid, I was convinced that this song was written specifically for Swampthing. I am also going to get a tattoo on my left arm of Swampthing walking through knee deep water, and it's going to say "Born on a Bayou" in a wavey font style on the water in front of him. This still rocks so hard. I love you Marvel but you haven't made an intro quite this good yet.
I remember seeing it on HBO as a kid and the intro blew me away. Something made me look it up on here and it was just as good as it was back in 90'.
Errr Its DC Not Marvel
I'm a life long Swamp Thing can, and while I think this movie is brain dead fun, this is probably one of the coolest parts of the film!
Too bad the series on the DC channel didn't last long!
this was my favorite movie as a little kid
One of the coolest intros to a movie!
This was, remarkably, the first time I'd gotten to hear this great old Creedence song in full (or nearly), when I saw it over 30 years ago. So . . . thanks, Swamp Thing.
This was directed by Jim Wynorski. He directs those Busty Cops, and softcore porn parodys you see on Cinemax.
Man, this opening kicks ass.
Best intro ever ! This is the first comic based movie I remember watching.
Yea, this and The Punisher with Dolph Lundgren
I saw this intro when I was a kid and that is when i knew I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. Now I am. Those covers are awesome.
Nostalgic chills man
I enjoyed watching swamp thing as a kid and still get excited seeing it.
They couldn't have picked a better song than CCR's Born on the Bayou for the title sequence of The Return of Swamp Thing.
was smoking with my bro n we were talking about movies n out of no were i thought of this movie n i havent seen it in 15 years lol love this movie ,swamp thing kicks ass
This movie fucking owned and this intro set the stage perfectly
lol, this was the best part in the entire flick.
Love the illustration at 1:27 it's like a lynch mob wants to kill the little girl, and Swamp Thing is like "uh, not happening" !!!
One of my fav childhood movie!!
1:10 to 1:15 Arkham easter egg was anyone else surprised by that?
Paul Velasquez it's really cool because Arkham Asylum was used in Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing, which is naturally considered to have the best Swamp Thing stories by far.
Seen this movie so many times and never noticed that wow
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a little girl :p

Best opening of film ever
i love this movie, wish i could find it on dvd...... coolest childhood memory
Throw in John Constantine and you've got a show!
R.I.P. Swamp Thing!
best intro ever this always got me pumped up
I loved this movie watching the new show now
RIP Swap Thing....aka Dick Durock...72 years old....
This was my altime favorite movie as a kid.
great movie all round especially the first and im sure the series were good too there should be a swamp thing 3
The best thing about this movie.
I loved it that's the first time I heard born on the bayou
2:25
They snuck in a Green Lantern ring!!
Watching this as an 8 year old boy was fanfuckingtastic! Plus the first time I heard this amazing band and their hit song!
My favorite DC movie, it's just too good
Now That's how you do an intro.
swamp thing is the best dc character ever.....i love this movie its a classic.
Long Live Swamp Thing!!
One of the best intros ever....
Outstanding.
my childhood
I discovered this song, thanks to this movie when I was a little kid lol
Confirmed for Injustice 2.
Oh yeah
Another song they could use!
The only really interesting thing about that generic ass sequel, frankly.
He's my hero
Haha pretty good yet funny movie, I think I've seen it about 300 times, used to watch it when I was skipping school, it was always on HBO. Oh yeah and Heather Locklear was and I think still is fucking hot.
Imo,the movie was okay, but I found the comics montage in the intro with the Born on the bayou song a lot more entertaining.
@FatalSonata Thumbs up for that...and I'd love for them re-do this scene exactly for the END of the film, Creedence and all!
I know that. What I'm saying is that never expected to see that in a movie where Swamp Thing is pretty much the ONLY superhero in this world
This Is my Childhood!!!!!!!!!!
Yea before Thor we got Swamp thing ... return.
Excellent. Perfect beginning
2people were not born on the bayou
This does foreshadow the that the MCU does things in their movies.
Still amazed
I've been wondering about that too. I have no idea.
OMG, BAD ASS INTRO.
Classic.
Love that intro!
Swamp Thing sounds too handsome
When, Swamp Thing come's to the DCEU (He should) Plz do play this song in the backround for him since he does live in the Swamp.
Get Dwayne The Rock Johnson to play Swamp Thing
Goddamn this is badass
i always kinda dug swampys strangely upbeat attitude in this one. he must have gone to a motivational speaker between the first film and this sequel, lol:)

Right on!
@StriderReborn swampthing would done something about the bp spill!
4 people weren't born on da bayou!
The song is great. The drawing is great. I haven't seen the movie yet.
And now I've seen the series again after 25 years, also starring Dick Durock, and my mind is once again blown.
Nobody judge that if Warner Bros. does a Swamp Thing remake, they should use this song for the closing credits,
If dc makes this movie do the character justice
Wicked
1989, Batman and Swamp Thing both came out both by DC comics
Incidentally, if you're not already following it, Scott Snyder has definitely done Swamp Thing justice, IMO. Brilliant stuff he's written.
I think they did it, what, some 2, 3 months ago? And his return was glorious. It took time, and yes, the Abby/Alec thing got a little stupid at some bits, but Swamp Thing returned, and he's as amazing as ever.
So great they used the original song and not some cheesy cover. NO one can do that better than John Fogerty (CCR)
Happy Haunting!!!!
James Gunn Sent me.
My grandpa got me the comic, after we were descended upon by a biker gang we were defenseless. Swamp Thing toasted Britain a movie grandpa started in. Swamp Thing my clan I guess, but they inhabited them first more compatible. Macs almost gone
