So we did the next best thing and made the Indonesian food ourselves! We documented everything from buying, to cooking, to eating the bakso with my family!

The most favorite food from Indonesia are bakso, nasi goreng, rendang, nasi campur, sate, gado2. You can learn how to make the from other youtubers such as : ozlife in Australia, yuni Leizure in UK, Reza in Holland or Nikmatul Rosidah in Canada. Who knows you would like to make Indonesian resto there 😄 the real ingredient for bakso we make here are just garlic, white paper, brooch, onion, and salt. After being cooked just add celery, sambal, sweet ketchup, or salty one and fried onion plus a bit of lemon. Without cinamon or other thing.

Depends where you live. In socal we have a lot of Asian markets that sell Indo bumbu, snacks, and other dry food. We also have Medan Kitchen restaurant. They import a lot of stuff.

@@uwiewangsa1788 di medan ada yg namanya mie sop. Itu bukan hidangan bakso tp sy sering pakai kuah mie sop buat bakso krn rasanya lebih berempah. Utk masak kuahnya, bahannya itu kayu manis, cengkeh, bunga lawang, ama kapulaga. Dan rasanya jauh lbh enak dibanding kuah bakso regular (menurut sy ya).

The recipe is legit. We do adding garlic, some green and sometimes egg yolk to make it chewier. Corn starch / cassava flour is a must. Good job !

Bakso doesn't need cinnamon stick, ginger nor star anise. Do not confuse bakso with Vietnamese Pho. Lolz. You gotta need nutmeg, white pepper, garlic, salt, beef stock for your bakso broth. That's it. Garnish your bakso with Chinese celery, spring onion and fried shallots. Other condiments are : rice vermicelli, hard tofu and deep fried dumplings.
You can search some recipes on UA-cam as well. Lolz 😆 I'm surprised you didn't blanch the book choy. Lolz. That's unusual ingredient for bakso. Indonesians mostly use thin sliced fresh cabbage instead of fresh bok choy. 😆

My survival tips living abroad: during winter I get bakso via post from ibu2 living in different cities, many of them are very good in cooking Indo food. They are happily prepare and pack bakso, mi ayam, mendoan, gudeg ,anything I can think of and post it to my address. It arrives 1 day later and I store them in my freezer.
