Out of the entire Soviet Army, none but the men of the NKVD can survive a determined effort to destroy the military.
Before EU sanctions Runssia imported a ton of cheese from Finland because their cheese apparently is not great. Now after the sanction are a thing there is a big cheese smugling business on the Russian border leading to the biggest munincipalities on the border (Imatra) limiting how much cheese a family can buy to hinder the smugling a bit.
There is my knowledge on the subject of Finno-Russian cheese smugling.

I found out you can turn all of your troops to the light tank template before the civil war and then when it procs you change yours back to infantry but the opposing faction troops that carried over will *stay* as the grossly undersupplied light tanks. This effectively lets you just walk through the tanks with a fully supplied infantry soldier. Its bullshit and I love it
That's actually an exploit you can use in every single civil war in the game. The AI will never switch templates of existing units, so if you turn your entire army into an incredibly shitty template before the war triggers, they will be stuck with it.
Still not as good as Victoria 2's "send your ethnic minority soldiers to die of attrition in the desert/mountains/jungle" strat.
There's something else you can also do, change the template of all possible divisions to something like a 1 infantry batallion division so the equipment goes to the stockpile, before starting the civil war, send your army equipment to Spain or China as lend lease, after the civil war starts, modify and cancel the lend lease so you get the guns back (make sure to do it before the 30 days it takes to send the equipment as lend lease and since the focus takes 35 days to complete...) and there you have it, the Reds will have the crappy template and they can't build more, whilst you get the guns!

HOI4 is hilarious. Over the past few years I’ve learned how to play and it took me 80 hours in game to be able to beat Poland and France half the time as Germany in single player lol

Ackshually 🤓, all you need to garrison is a 2 width cavalry division with or without military police (the game automatically fills out the amount of divisions you need based on their suppression value).
