Ive been playing bass for a little over a year now. 6 months ago I was gushing over this video thinking how hard but fun this looks to play. 6 months later I can now play this song. Thank you for inspiring me to stick with it!
MY GUY THATS SO FUCKING COOL TO HEAR!!! Ahhh I’m so happy for you and thank you so much for the support and amazingly cool comment, I hope to see a video of you playing it someday! Kyuss rule 🌵
GOD BLESS YOU DUDE! Just when I though this song could be more epic, you show UP and let everyone jawless, you put so much of your soul and your talent on this track that Is mindblowing Greetings from Colombia!
Kinda hard to not feel this shit, Kyuss is a wet dream for bass players. Scott Reader was an absolute monster and I have to say this dude is too, good shooting kid!
That was a masterpeice man I didnt know what i was in for!! Thats like unrivaled bass playing it looks like a fun song to play cheers for sharing man 🤯😎
You deserve every bit of praise you receive in these comments. Dude, that was excellent! Been a Kyuss fan since before this album even came out. One of my top 3 of ALL time bands. And I'm well aware of just how talented and skilled Scott Reeder is. How "unorthodox" his style is. Great fucking job!!
Aw man, i don't know what to say other than thank you so much, what an amazing thing to say, thank you my man!!! "Unorthodox" is the best way to describe his playing, he's such an expressive player. Out of all the videos I've done so far, the Kyuss ones are absolutely up there with my favourites!
@@thestubass LOL, Nothing but the truth, bro. I checked out your band as well. I liked what i heard, great.. I had to set this dude straight, if you scroll further down to Gian Gianni....... lol, jackass... OH, Hehe. I have seen Kyuss live small venue up close. They were the opening act for White Zombie and Danzig a very long time ago. It's how I discovered them..I'll watch some more of your stuff. I subscribed, you'll be hearing from me again..... Rock on...
@@SWood-yy3br Aw no way what a line up, would kill to see WZ in their prime back in the day! I've been lucky enough to see Rob Zombie live and it was phenomenal, i watch old WZ live clips all the time and they look wild! Im really glad you like the stuff man, sometimes when im lacking motivation or inspiration i take a look at comments like the one you left and it really does give me a boost, so its very much appreciated that you and others are enjoying me throwing my hair around to songs we all love haha I have a solo album coming out proably next year, still deciding if i want vocals or to have it mostly instrumental, its guitar/bass heavy i have some odd clips dotted through my videos, will be making multi-angle and camera performance videos to the songs so im mega excited to get that rolling!
10pm, your video on the tv, me headbanging alone in the darkness of my living room, and it feels like your smile at the end was for me - thanks for your energy, amazing playing
I saw the start and was like ok ok, then damn man you kicked it in the nuts and held on like ya life was hangin on it. I have a desert rock band and bass like this is what it's all about. Love it mate, keep rockin.
Oh HELL YES!! I know just the song, leave it with me! I never got to see Kyuss live so im living vivariously through these jam out's haha and WOW that would've been some line up to see!!! iI can imagine in the prime of their days they blew everyone off the stage though!
@@thestubass orange goblin , che' the sounds of liberation, mondo generator, fu Manchu. Nick Oliveri..all great bands, and I'm leaving a bunch of that era out..thank you for replying..keep it up.
So its YOU driving up the view count, thanks man haha The bass i've actually only got some details on since its a bit of an oddity: Its a German make called HK which as far as i can find doesnt exist anymore, so i call this Wolfie since it has a Wolf inlay on the headstock (which looks very very cool tbh). It has a switch on it for going between active and passive mode which is surprisingly handy to have
Thanks! The tone is mostly from the bass tbh, the pickups aren’t so bright/hot plus I’m playing finger style so I’m sort of muting naturally as I play. Running it into a Line 6 Helix with an Ampeg SVT amp sim and an 8x10 cabinet. I think there’s some light distortion too but that’s about it!

I actually made a playthrough of a DARKMEANS song here ua-cam.com/video/B1Kaw9RV2bc/v-deo.html :)
Pretty much aye, well its the bass and some amp digital modelling but nothing fancy or heavily edited. I run it into a Line6 Helix LT where im using a simple signal path, so it simulates an Ampeg SVT head into am Ampeg cab, which is my old live set up anyway so its nothing super fancy. Small amount of EQ just to boost the mids slightly, and compression just to get rid of those unwanted frequencies, but again thats not anything unusual. Its really all down to the bass and my fingers i guess! :)
@@cactus-mcjacktus Thanks, i always worry that my tone isnt toney enough, guess that's why tone chasing is something that never "ends!" No its not a Marleaux bass! It's a bit of a mystery other than its from HK Instruments, en.audiofanzine.com/misc-electric-bass/hk-instruments/Custom-6-cordes/ although I cant actually find anything for the 5 string. This bass was actually part of an exchange, i had a 5 string Epiphone Thunderbird that my mate fancied so we done a swap, best decision i ever made, the TBird was basically a 5 string back pain problem waiting to happen (really heavy headstock and the body was just HUGE, the case was the size of a table!). It even has a badass howling Wolf inlay on the headstock and a Wolf's head master volume control that i made. So its called Wofie :)
