As a Warlock main since Destiny 1 Day 1, over the past 8-9 years of this game with easily 5000-8000 hours across both games on all platforms, I can commend this video. I truly felt connected to the last two stages of Warlock and I can fully agree that I have committed to the bathrobe, once believing we were the worst class and to know that we are the best class now. I have no regrets and I am a Warlock main to my soul...
I am a Titan main since 2015 (as i played 1 year warlock) and to be honest, i feel like the game has really evolved in all this years, i remember playing as a kid (i am 13 at the moment) and i have always explored every area and each of my moments on destiny, like casting my first ult, unlocking my first exotic class item and using saint 14 helmet, unlocking Last Word (in destiny 2) with 500+ deaths, those moments, are the ones who marks a guardian, ae choose our fate, those moments define us
I'm about to break 1,700 myself, and yeah, absolutely no lie detected. On the contrary, I think it's hilarious how accurate this is. I just entered Stage 9 this season, and it's insane how different the game looks now, and how much system mastery benefits the warlock specifically.
Probably just me, but when I started playing, warlock jump felt amazing to me as it was not like anything I had seen in other games. Until I got additced to burst glide. Then I just fell off the map.
I originally had a Hunter back in d1 launch, but sometime before ttk I saw warlocks with Radiance and liked how that looked and also simply bc they had the different grenade throw animation, so I switched to a warlock main and been so ever since.
I was the same with hunter, but once Necrotic grips came out... I've never touched another class since, granted I rarely use necrotic grip synergies anymore, it was a good catalyst to improving as a warlock
Same with me...Hunter in D1 and some time after ttk and before Roi I made a warlock ..been a warlock ever since..I don't have a Titan, tried one on my nephews profile and flying bricks just ain't my thing lol
I was a titan first but got immediately bored and changed to hunter but then I saw my friend using self rez and I immediately changed to warlock and then went back to hunter and now I'm a warlock again lol
As a warlock main myself, someone who picked warlock launch day on destiny 1 and still has not even tried hunter or titan to this day.. You absolutely nailed every single stage, this video is amazing. Well deserved like and sub earned from me.

I may be an outlier but I "tested" Blink during Stage 1 and decided to get good with it before moving on. Turns out that getting good with Blink early actually really helps with learning how to use momentum to your advantage a lot sooner.
There are tons of little variations in the stages. Most Warlock mains I know started as another class but moved towards Warlock, kind of like the opposite of stage 6.
ive been using blink since d1 and still use it in pve and pvp void walker is my main subclass, then it goes storm caller, shade binder, dawn blade, havent figured out where strand will be in the list it might be my new second.
Funny thing is that the warlock „glide“ is more realistic than the other class jumps, but still the hardest to learn for new players or Warlock haters. It only requires logic to understand first
I'm a Stage 9 Warlock Main (with bonus blink phase). I agree. It's hard to learn initially but it's VERY Destiny-physics bound. Once you learn that, it's awesome. Specially when adding Heat Rises.
I took to the warlock glide like a majestic effing eagle, when I made my titan I was so confused. I was like, I thought this was supposed to be like a jetpack... why is it just worse glide?
This dude really just told me my entire life story this past week until stage 8... And yes, blink is my child that I will nurture till the end of time.
Stage 11. Rylee Reloaded. Completely insane and act without thinking and bash their heads into a wall so many times that the wall falls down eventually. Also they wear the Hot Wheels colors on their armor
As a warlock main from vanilla destiny 1, this is spot on. We already went through some stages like learning blink’s true potential back in d1 (rip blink+ shotgun) but everything is true. From lore scholar, to one main fireteam, to guiding and just helping players in anyway they can. 1500 hours on destiny and 1400 are on warlock. Space magic!
My father got me into destiny in 2018 but I didn’t like it as much then in 2021 I came back to it and I was blown away by all the stuff I missed about my old warlock account and seeing this video is reminding me about how much stuff I still have to accomplish even only putting in about 96 hours (according to steam) into this game.
Stage 9 and yeah, Warlock is insane with the builds you can make. Build crafting with Warlock is extremely satisfying, and getting builds that work are extremely fun.
Stage 10 Lock, but on the Lore side... Builds are nasty, and your creativity, nastier. The meta is full of builds, and anything you can think of has been done, except for in PvP. I suggest you play it if you want to make unique one of a kind builds.
@@barstool9156 Nice to meet another 10, there's some stuff I still need to learn (well skating) and I don't dare touch blink until it gets fixed.. 😭😭😭 But I gotta go fast and kill those ads. 😁 (Also, if anyone tells me I wasn't the reason we survived a difficult encounter due to clutching, *I will kill you!* (In crucible (Maybe (I suck at PvP))))
Another stage 10 lock here. Been warlock since launch of d1 and I was stuck at stage 8 for years. Then after coming back for the 3.0 update in the span of a month I made 10 new builds, started soloing all the content I could, and went flawless in trials for the first time. The best part was giving the builds to the other locks in my clan so they could get stronger
I love how this hits every concept of being a warlock I was stuck at stage 9 for about 2 years, after which I just let go, go with the flow, teach and help out my clan members and just embrace being a warlock so I think I finally achieved lvl 10 in 2022. Looking forward to acquiring new knowledge and furthering my build with my teammates in lightfall.
Warlock was my 3rd class during covid just to power level my hunter faster but with time I’ve slowly got through the stages. Now that I dont play as much I dont even bother playing anything else than warlock. Currently at stage 8 been jumping off cliffs a lot lately
Even after a year that this video is posted. This is very relevant to my 10 stages of grief as a new Warlock main. Love the vid! Looking forward to the next expansion vids in June!
6:57 I made my Kitsune mask have either arctic pearl or SUROS modular so that the white glowing eyes are as bright as possible. It also works with the Rhulk emote’s white neck/collar piece when you just stand.
I'm a stage 10 but battlemage armored warlock drip is still my favorite. There's something so satisfying about the heavy armored d&d cleric vibe, or the lightly and almost sinisterly armored hex mage aesthetic
I watched your other two videos about Titans and Hunters, and only this one about the Warlock journey is truly beautiful from the start to the end. There's no tryhard phase, no egoistical trip, no tbagging phase... The Warlock journey is only about becoming the best space wizard and achieve the greatest PvE feats, and there's beauty and innocence in it.
Judging by the comments on those videos though, I think it hits with those people too. We’re just warlock mains so this really just makes sense to us. 🤷♀️
Shadebinder main here. Can say from experience I've had a whole nightmare containment crew just stop killing shit and watch me as I proceeded to put about 20 turrets all over the cestellum 🤣🤣

I love how genuinely accurate this video is It portrays Warlocks skill being based on that Warlocks knowledge which is true both in lore and gameplay I’d say as a Stage 9 Warlock who has dabbled in the other classes I believe that Warlocks have the biggest learning curve and have the biggest differences between a new and veteran player Plus that bit about Warlocks seeing enemies as catalysts for our abilities is very true as well Good work overall!
9:23 this is actually why I’ve stuck with being a warlock. I get to be an effective healer and people will take me into their fireteams, no questions asked.
I was at one point a stage 10 warlock before 3.0 builds but now I am a Titian and I still like reminiscing on my warlock journey that started on d1 rise of iron after playing hunter and then Titian for all of d1 before that
10:58 I remember back in D1 when I'd get with raid groups and they'd see that I was using blink, and they'd complain and try to get me to switch becore the jumping puzzles because they "didn't want the jumping puzzles to take forever." The sheer shock in their voices when I'd not only one-run the puzzles with it, but also finish it before anyone else, was always incredible. I won't say I was the best with it, but it turned out to be pretty handy a lot of times.
Cant believe you didnt mention the celestial armor set in the fashion segment. Probably one of, if not the best, sets easily available. Every armor piece from it is goated.
As a stage 9 warlock, I can say that I am very proud of how well he did his research. I love how accurate this is. 😂 I just hit the solo everything faze and can’t wait for the rest lol
Also if you want to take it even further, use the monte carlo rifle. With each damage you do, it increases melee cooldowns dramatically. And with each kill theres a high chance to fully recharge your melee skill. Actual warlocks dream.
I feel like post getting stage 10 of one of the classes that you feel you mastered you would start like soft rest and start playing more consistently the other tow
I resonate with Stage 7 so much.. literally, I made it absolutely clear with my friends that I’d be running Well with Lumina a whole bunch of times. A good majority of the time, I’d end up making clutch heals with the Lumina and preventing my teammates from getting killed or damage buffing. No idea what stage I’m at rn, but I can confidently say I’m in stage 8 TL;DR: love Well build, feel like I’m at stage 8
Stage 10 for me was becoming addicted to non meta weapons because of their hidden or unappreciated potency 😂 voidlock with nezarecs sin and ruinous effigy is godly
I agree with you. I now, after all this time, find it most fun to play with weird weapons and exotics. There will always be the meta builds u can go back to, but I enjoy the weird makeshift ones the most.
Effigy is my main exotic and probably will forever be. I just love the damn orb gun too much to ever give it up. Traces are awesome by themselves, but the orb feels awesome to slide in and grab while it's midair, it provides you a great survivability power in its drain guard (even after it was nerfed) and there are few things more satisfying than slam dunking that ball onto some unsuspecting goons from twenty stories up as if you were a titan LOL
I became a warlock main at beyond light launch when enough pressure from my almost exclusively hunter main clan caused me to cave and dawn the dress. It hooked me instantly. Now, more than 2000 hours later, I'm proud to say I'm a stage 9 player. I have tons of builds, know how to use them all, and regularly teach raids. I've solo flawlessed every dungeon in the game and farm GMs every week. I hope to eventually move on to stage 10, but I still have a lot to learn. My next step is a Day One. I tried with an LFG at Vow but we couldn't get past caretaker. This time, I have a fireteam already ready which I put together myself. We won't get worlds first, but I'll be damned if we don't get that clear.
@Dan Raids with less than a full fireteam. Usually when someone says "lowman" they mean 3 or less members. The only one I've done so far was a Rhulk, but it was pretty fun and made for a decent challenge.
@@yoshigottagun haha ik was it is was just wondering if you had done any - you should do more they are good trio flawless dsc and vog are easy and fun :)
As a Stage 9 Warlock who started back in D1 let me tell you, the journey to stage 10 is a long one, but while the destination is important, so to is the path you walked to get there.
I knew I wanted to main warlock from the second I saw the character creation screen. But my friend told me titans had more health, so I played Titan until the Wendigo farm last season. I cried when I learned how to wellskate a few weeks ago and when I died 32 times on the Vow jumping puzzle, so I totally cried watching this too. 💖
I remember a few years back in 2019 when my cousin was telling me about how this game had “magic wizard” class. I said “that sounds cool. I’ll give it a try.” 3 years later and here I am still. Shout outs to all my fellow fairy-jumping, bookworm, warlocks out there!!!
I was a stage one blink warlock and I always remember I queuing up the duality dungeon and my teammates were like don’t use blink, so I switched off it to a regular jump and didn’t know how to use it and kept falling to my death. So I ended up switching back to blink for the rest of the dungeon lol.
this is the third time i watch this video. the first time i watched it was 6 months ago, when it got posted. seeing myself going up the stages with time makes me realize how much i've improved. i went from "okay but wtf is an exotic and how do i get one?" to "haha yes grenade spam with sunbracers goes boom" i can totally see that i still have a lot of room for improvement and the hardest thing i've done so far was soloing the prophecy dungeon. i'm currently trying to solo spire of the watcher but the final boss still kicks my ass. hope that one day i'll be good enough to solo a raid.
Fun Fact: Nezarec’s sin actually works with all subclasses, but to get the energy boost the kills must be void, so you can be on a solar subclass but as long as you have a void weapon getting you kills it will activate the buff from Nezarec’s.
As a Titan main, watching mains of the other two classes learn and develop has only ever made me appreciate my choice even more. Not because the other two seem weak or dumb or something, but because watching them makes me appreciate how each of us grow and evolve as our classes, and how together we can use our skills and knowledge to our empower and protect each other. Despite our differences, despite our playful and petty rivalries, Warlocks and Hunters are my brothers and sisters. And I'm proud to be the first of their fireteam.
o m g. you've definetly described EXACTLY how im feeling when playing warlock for the first time. Im new to destiny 2 and I feel exactly to how your describing it. Thats crazy bro, sick ass video!!!
I used to play as a hunter but later on I switched to warlock now I’m can say I’m a stage 8 warlock main with 730+ hours and I have so much pride for it… I still have more room to improve on warlock but I am happy to learn more!!😊
as a warlock that has been through every stage, this video is great. i especially connected with the last 2 stages, as they perfectly describe my progression as a warlock over the last few months. although i have strayed from the warlock path and am a stage 9 on both my hunter and titan, so i'm not sure if i can be called a stage 10 warlock anymore
I'm not going to begin to tell you how incredibly accurate this is... Anyway thanks for the content dude. I know it's an old video, but as a "newish" player (only 60 hrs in) to Destiny 2 you're making this progression in the game pretty easy going for sure.
Well nezarec's sin works well with graviton lance and strand since GL creates void orbs that explode all around and strand melee crates needle missiles and they just combo so well you just create a symphony of death and its glorious.
I've mained Hunter and Titan in prev expansions. Last night started a Warlock thinking I'll main it in Final Shape. 1:20 into this video and it's 100% accurate
I started as a warlock and played through the whole base D2 as my first destiny experience. It was fun but after my play-through I started a hunter and haven't looked back.
Yea, started Warlock, but after playing as a Hunter AND as a Titan for awhile I'd rather be either one of those. I feel like the other 2 classes have evolved to have unique playstyles, while the Warlock (outside of healing) is just shoot stuff and throw grenade/melee. Hunter can go invis, help the team go invis, debuff enemy to take more damage, be quick and agile; Titan can generate overshield for self/team, "silence" enemy, tank attacks, create titan bubble OR ad clear with same subclass... What kind of playstyle to Warlocks have besides throw out a heal??
I’d consider myself a pseudo stage 10 warlock who skipped the medic stage cause I refuse to well (nova bomb and blink ftw) and perfer to try everything else. I make and try out hundreds of loadouts that tend to flop. I recognize I’m not the greatest player but there’s always run for improvement. I for one focus more on having fun and learning ever detail o can about destiny’s lore and wouldn’t have it any other ways. Cheers to all my fellow grenade eaters.
I identify most with stage 7, although I've played so long I'm beyond. I'm so hopelessly comitted to being a support in all games, i feel super seen with that stag callout. I got excited when i got it from Xur today lmao
"And Titans look like a kid drew all over them with crayons." And we're damn proud of it! That kid is probably the happiest one around, which means we've done our job! 😤
I got Contraverse Hold as a drop while I was in stage 3 and ended up skipping stage 4, now I think I'm just loitering around stage 5/6 because I refuse to use solar
after watching this, i could say that i'm a strong stage 6.5, but i can relate to what you said in all the stages that came before that, also about the stage 10 as today i asked for help in my clan, a warlock stage 10 joined me out of the blue and instead of rushing the mission and be done with it ( which he could since he oddly one shots everything lol ) he showed me how to move and what tactics to use at which time to be able to solo it next time, even let me clear the waves solo as practice, now i'm in love lol
I’ve just made a warlock (hunter main) and just WOW. They have so much more than us hunters! I got it from 1600 to 1794 in about a day (including artefact) and I’m absolutely loving it. I have an incredible build (PVP and PVE) with starfire protocol. My hunter might get a bit dusty…
... I'm realizing. I went out of order and did stage 5 at like stage 4 and now I'm on stage 4 And theres still Leaking hints of stage 5 remaining. Also, my personal favorite headpiece is the last stag and for a while. I just used it as my main armor exotic, no matter what scenario because I looked freaking sick. I also learned how to glide at like stage 3. It's really not that hard. But that's probably because I was a solar main which as warlock is like training wheels for your glide.
I can't believe how accurate this is. Not sure I stand as a 10 but I do love helping new warlocks and actively encourage new players of other classes to try it out. Also, I can recite the entire set of books of sorrow from memory so there's that xD.
my friend is a new warlock player he is really bad this will help get through his tough times playing as a warlock thanks for showing him the stages of how hard it can be to be warlock

True i started with a hunter and couldnt make jumps at all then i went to warlock jumping was a breeze.... then the arc rift with arc soul goodness

Yes, I too have mastered the art of gracefully falling to my death.
I originally had a Hunter back in d1 launch, but sometime before ttk I saw warlocks with Radiance and liked how that looked and also simply bc they had the different grenade throw animation, so I switched to a warlock main and been so ever since.
Same
I was the same with hunter, but once Necrotic grips came out... I've never touched another class since, granted I rarely use necrotic grip synergies anymore, it was a good catalyst to improving as a warlock
Same just I tried titan second for about a year than I found warlock

I'm a Stage 9 Warlock Main (with bonus blink phase). I agree.
It's hard to learn initially but it's VERY Destiny-physics bound. Once you learn that, it's awesome. Specially when adding Heat Rises.

wow, thanks so much!
Seriously this hit fucking home
Went from Rezz Warlock to Stormcaller and never stopped being one since Destiny 1
Seeing a whole room blow-up in chain lightning is very satisfying
Absolutely loved this breakdown, never knew the true depth of it. Truly impressive.
As a d1 warlock main this brings back memories specially the nova deaths and blinking around.
So many times I swear I was one pixel off from a perfect nova bomb and ended up nuking myself to oblivion lol
Kind of crazy how well this described my own journey as a warlock main over the last 4 years.
I am literally seeing my friend go through this entire process right now since he started the game a few weeks ago
So how are you doing now that The Final Shape is here?? 😏 Is your Loc all suped up & wearing the best drip? lol
Now I anticipate the inevitable 10 stages of a fun main.

I’m at stage 8. I’m slowly feeling the potential a warlock truly has and I’m proud that the countless hours has led up to this moment.
(Also, if anyone tells me I wasn't the reason we survived a difficult encounter due to clutching, *I will kill you!* (In crucible (Maybe (I suck at PvP))))
@@Ixarus6713 warlock well skating isnt too hard on pc its just a practice thing
I love how this hits every concept of being a warlock I was stuck at stage 9 for about 2 years, after which I just let go, go with the flow, teach and help out my clan members and just embrace being a warlock so I think I finally achieved lvl 10 in 2022. Looking forward to acquiring new knowledge and furthering my build with my teammates in lightfall.
that's awesome!
As a warlock main. This make me happy knowing there someone out there who knows our pains…. And amazing power

I love how genuinely accurate this video is
It portrays Warlocks skill being based on that Warlocks knowledge which is true both in lore and gameplay
I’d say as a Stage 9 Warlock who has dabbled in the other classes I believe that Warlocks have the biggest learning curve and have the biggest differences between a new and veteran player
Plus that bit about Warlocks seeing enemies as catalysts for our abilities is very true as well
Good work overall!
Everytime I got my melee charge (solar brazalets) and see a red bar ready to spam solar granades.

I remember back in D1 when I'd get with raid groups and they'd see that I was using blink, and they'd complain and try to get me to switch becore the jumping puzzles because they "didn't want the jumping puzzles to take forever." The sheer shock in their voices when I'd not only one-run the puzzles with it, but also finish it before anyone else, was always incredible. I won't say I was the best with it, but it turned out to be pretty handy a lot of times.
Cant believe you didnt mention the celestial armor set in the fashion segment. Probably one of, if not the best, sets easily available. Every armor piece from it is goated.
One of the first sets i bought was that because i liked the star theme

I resonate with Stage 7 so much.. literally, I made it absolutely clear with my friends that I’d be running Well with Lumina a whole bunch of times. A good majority of the time, I’d end up making clutch heals with the Lumina and preventing my teammates from getting killed or damage buffing. No idea what stage I’m at rn, but I can confidently say I’m in stage 8
TL;DR: love Well build, feel like I’m at stage 8
When someone asks me to use well i bust out the void melee build and proceed to always be the last one standing
Lowmans?
@Dan Raids with less than a full fireteam. Usually when someone says "lowman" they mean 3 or less members.
The only one I've done so far was a Rhulk, but it was pretty fun and made for a decent challenge.

As a Stage 9 Warlock who started back in D1 let me tell you, the journey to stage 10 is a long one, but while the destination is important, so to is the path you walked to get there.
Definitely stage 3 right now. Stopped playing destiny back after 2 came out, just got back into it now and am 40 hours in
I knew I wanted to main warlock from the second I saw the character creation screen.
I recently returned to be a warlock main. I haven't been one since the red war.... . Very glad I first chose magic over stealthyness and bulkyness
This is the Quality content I was looking for!
Amazing work as always.
I was a stage one blink warlock and I always remember I queuing up the duality dungeon and my teammates were like don’t use blink, so I switched off it to a regular jump and didn’t know how to use it and kept falling to my death. So I ended up switching back to blink for the rest of the dungeon lol.
this is the third time i watch this video.
the first time i watched it was 6 months ago, when it got posted.
seeing myself going up the stages with time makes me realize how much i've improved.
i went from "okay but wtf is an exotic and how do i get one?" to "haha yes grenade spam with sunbracers goes boom"
i can totally see that i still have a lot of room for improvement and the hardest thing i've done so far was soloing the prophecy dungeon.
i'm currently trying to solo spire of the watcher but the final boss still kicks my ass.
hope that one day i'll be good enough to solo a raid.
Fun Fact: Nezarec’s sin actually works with all subclasses, but to get the energy boost the kills must be void, so you can be on a solar subclass but as long as you have a void weapon getting you kills it will activate the buff from Nezarec’s.
Yeah we know. If you look in the video, I was not using void weapons either

What a video man this basically describes my experience through d1 into d2 and currently coming back to destiny and hearing this is wild
as a warlock that has been through every stage, this video is great. i especially connected with the last 2 stages, as they perfectly describe my progression as a warlock over the last few months. although i have strayed from the warlock path and am a stage 9 on both my hunter and titan, so i'm not sure if i can be called a stage 10 warlock anymore
Born to Nova, forced to well hits hard
What kind of playstyle to Warlocks have besides throw out a heal??
everything changed when i got that eager edge sword
I’d consider myself a pseudo stage 10 warlock who skipped the medic stage cause I refuse to well (nova bomb and blink ftw) and perfer to try everything else. I make and try out hundreds of loadouts that tend to flop. I recognize I’m not the greatest player but there’s always run for improvement. I for one focus more on having fun and learning ever detail o can about destiny’s lore and wouldn’t have it any other ways. Cheers to all my fellow grenade eaters.
Stated a Warlock purely to use Nova Warp and haven't swapped off since.
Fun fact: Nezarecs sin does work with all classes as long as you use a void weapon
Oh my god, I'd never heard "Born to Nova, forced to Well" before but that is the story of my LIFE
I’ve just made a warlock (hunter main) and just WOW.
You're pretty on point. Literally my journey right now, one month in, Stage 5ish, first character ever and warlock (yeah, glowy ball was cool lol)
my friend is a new warlock player he is really bad this will help get through his tough times playing as a warlock thanks for showing him the stages of how hard it can be to be warlock
Dude, I love my warlock, and it's jump since vanilla D1. I was instantly enamored with the warlock and in early days, I loved having a controlled glide, and as I progressed, I felt like I was flying. Even to this day, I adore this class and have played way more on my warlock and hunter and titan following last 😂
