it's kinda crazy how fire emblem was a dying franchise then after awakening it became one of the best games of the year
Now look where we are: a 3-pathway game, a remake of a Japan-exclusive title, a mobile game with characters that span across the franchise's history, an spinoff title from the people behind Dynasty/Hyrule Warriors, and a new installment exclusively for the Switch coming in 2018. Things have certainly been looking up for Fire Emblem since those days and I wouldn't want it any other way.

shoopoopie1 Yeah the franchise was on its last leg and Fire Emblem Awakening was the crutch it needed. I would have been devastated if the franchise died back then...
if an elitist comes here and says that the marketing saved the franchise than theyre stupid, many games like hero sky got popular from marketing yet they fell flat awaeking in general is a good game msotly for its cast

My first ever play through was completely blind, and I also didn’t know about the whole “last of the franchise” thing, so when I sacrificed myself and Chrom and Lissa talked about rebuilding and searching for me, I thought that was a sequel hook, and you could transfer progress between games, similar to the Golden Sun games or the Tellius duology. Then that happened, and my heart completely melted

Quinton Washington until I discovered Xenoblade Chronicles, FE Awakening was my favorite game of all time, and even now it’s still pretty high up there, and I have a ton of fond memories from it
All this time and I'm still never going to get over the photo-realistic eye. That gets me every time.

Looking back at the cutscene with Lucina vs Chrom. That would probably scare the daylights out of me. Some mysterious figure is constantly appearing out of nowhere, claiming to be the hero king of old. And when you go to fight them they not only have your sword, but match your fighting style to completely. Even down to your stand and how you flourish your sword. Its basically like fighting yourself but it's not you at all.

Man, this brings back memories. Especially the part where Lucina shows Chrom the brand of the Exalt in her eye. Once she started crying it almost got me good too.

No wonder the Risen were over running the castle. All the soldiers wield lances and the Risen wield axes. They have weapon advantage! Probably why Lucina wanted them to grab a SWORD. 😂

The ending gets me every time. Like "huh? The same? Dialogue?? But then comes the "Welcome back part" and I'm dying fhkamfnka
I thought it was repeating the cutscene from the beginning as like a bookend or restarting the game or something, but then Robin's hand is shown to no longer possess the Mark of Grima and god damn, I nearly cheered out loud.

Man, these cutscenes are still all amazing, even now. but... my personal favorite moment was at 13:43 with that scream, like when I first heard that one, it felt.... real. It felt and sounded like she was truly afraid of her seemingly inevitable death, but still carrying her last bit of hope in a bid to stand her ground to the end.

They've been enhanced to Blu-ray quality. Also if the Three Houses cutscenes were HD they'd probably blow up your Switch.
@@eastontao6358 even if they were HD, that wouldn't take away the poor frame rate and lack of shading and midtones. Even on a DS screen these cutscenes are amazing in quality

After years i just learned what great gift these cutscenes were.
They are animated in ONES, the amount of EFFORT pumped into a dying franchise's presumed last battle was incredible.
The fluidity still makes me swoon.
An anime made with the graphics used here would be sooooo worth it!!!

I never paid close attention to detail when I played Awakening, but now that I did, I gotta say, those sweat drops were a little too excessive LOL
I think they're pretty accurate. I actually appreciate those details that make the cutscenes all the more impactful ^_^
Robin, Chrom, and Lucina in the beginning with the music was beautiful...
It's been damn near 10 years since I first played Awakening and "Welcome back, it's over now." still hits me like a truck.
In Japanese, Lucina is Kae Serinuma, Mariya Shidou, and Sasha Brouse. In English, she's Tohru Honda, Lust, Chun Li, Rise Kujikawa, Olympia Vale, and Emily/Glitter Lucky.

No matter how many times I watch it, the scene where Lucina reveals her eye to Chrom makes me tear up. She is Fire Emblem's most amazing, heart-touching, character, and a hero above and beyond every sense of the word.
So clear... almost looks like an animated movie, can't wait to see the Fates cutscenes updated because I was especially fond of that game...

Its so crazy the differences between Chrom and Lucina expressions when Grima finally awakes. Chrom is worried but Lucinas face shows dispair, almost as if on verge of tears.

Grima's english voice works pretty well, but the echo/double voice effects and laughter for his japanese voice are awesome.

Very true. Fates's story was just dumb. Up until chapter 7, it was a really good game. Past the choice, it shot its foot and stumbled through the rest of the game

9:13 Bit of an oversight here. Lucina doesn't have the Brand of the Exalt in her left eye. Of course, this is before it is discovered she is Lucina, aka Chrom's daughter, but still, I would've appreciated that bit of detail.
The brand is only noticeable when you are looking at her up close.

Even though Fates had 3 games that expanded more on the plot, I still couldn't enjoy it as much as Awakening. The story felt less compelling after chapter 7 and the characters weren't even close to Awakening's amazing characters. The only thing I can say about it is that I LOVED the gameplay for that game.
