For frustrated 50s/r users who gave up on the wifi connection and that can't update the firmware using computer with the cable provided in the kit, just use any other USB cable that you may have and that usually works with your computer. I was finally able to get my 50S recognized after hours of troubleshooting.
How did you do that? Because my 50s can not recognized on my computer

This is 100% Sena's problem, but they leave it to us to surf around and find that they have not submitted their 64bit drivers to Microsoft for signing. Here is the work-around:
To disable driver signature enforcement and install drivers that are not digitally signed, use the following steps:
1. Click the Start Start menu and select Settings.
2. Click Update and Security.
3. Click on Recovery.
4. Click Restart now under Advanced Startup.
5. Click Troubleshoot.
6. Click Advanced options.
7. Click Startup Settings.
8. Click on Restart.
9. On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement.
Your computer will restart and you will be able to install non-digitally signed drivers. If you restart your computer again the driver signature enforcement will be re-enabled.
This is what support had me do. Didn't work in the end....this was about 6 months ago. Tried again and it still doesn't work
on Mac, the device manager won't connect to either of my 30ks. Any word on when this product will actually function?

I have a 10s and the software does not recognize it :( ....how do I update the firmware? Also the mobile app does not allow me to update it as well, because the firmware is old and needs updating via the computer! Me = stuck = not happy
I was having no luck, but found out that the problem was that the cable I was using is for charging only. You don't need to use the exact same cable that came with the device, but it does need to support data transfer. I tested several cables by using a Kindle device - when I plugged in the Kindle and it showed up as a removable drive, that same cable worked immediately for the Sena 10S.
Thank you very much- I tried 3 cables and 3 different laptops- I didn't realize all micro USB weren't the same-- found my Gopro and connected it-- viola!
The fact that @sena has not responded is what I am most disappointed about.

Just purchased a 20S EVO needed to update firmware ( as said on app) to version 2.0.1 I have a 2019 MacBook Air with type C USB ports ( I have an adaptor) running OS 10.15.4 device does not recognise contacted sena awaiting a response. I am not tech wizard and finding this so frustrating

GOT IT WORKING: so i recently bought the 30k and was trying to update it, but it wouldnt connect, this is what you absolutely have to do:
on windows 10
get the software from the sena site, make sure to match it to your computer(x64 or x86)
install the software and the driver
disconnect EVERY usb device except your mouse, and i mean everything, keyboard, usb headphones, unplugged usb cords, usb dongles, EVERYTHING but your mouse
use the usb cable that came with the device, it has to be that cable, no exceptions, and connect the device to your computer
close all browsers and everything else on the computer
run the sena bluetooth device manager in Admin mode(left click on the shortcut and "run as admin"
follow the instructions that the software gives you and dont do anything else on the computer while updating, use your phone to scroll facebook or whatever while updating
voila, updated!
the reason for this is that some usb devices use different baudrate to talk to the computer, and that can screw up the communication for other devices, ive even seen cables that have built in resistors and were giving of some weird readings, idk just follow the instructions, kinda dont understand why sena doesnt tell you this in the video...
We should never have to do all that to update a device. Last Sena I will own.
I used on Mac a USB C to USB C cable and it worked (I used the one that came with my Mac)
would not recognize the device plugged in and keep popping up incorrect parameter! This is so bad, i tried restarting the computer, compatibility mode for windows and nothing ! Fix the god dam software already!

This issue is caused by the latest release of Windows 10 and will be fixed in the next version of the Sena Device Manager. In the mean time, you can move the pop-up to the side of the screen which will allow you to press the NEXT button.

In the meantime, one cannot 'move' the pop-up, since there is no pop-up... it's in the darn menu and one can click all you want, but it will not continue.
Even worse: your help says, create a log-file... even that does not work...
Do you guys even test the software before giving it out to people?
Same issue. There software is garbage. Its ages behind, starting to regret my purchase.
Literally never works like this
I’ve been struggling to find out how to connect it and I finally got it to start downloading! ( sena 10s) what you have to do is have the same usb cable it came with(not 100% sure if you need the same cable it came with) and the device manager pulled up on the computer. Plug in the sena and have it powered off. As your going into the device recognition step, as soon as you press next begin to hold the phone button down( while it is still powered off ) and in a few seconds it should pop up. Let me know if anyone is having trouble?

OMG I spent about 2 hours on this. Same steps as you mentioned for the 10R but it's the (-) button .They say to have the device powered on but it needs to be powered off just like you said!

i have a 20s and it says i cant connect to the server for the past 2 days now whenever i try to update it
Same problem here.. And no option to download the firmware manually..
The 30k is a good device, but I've had so many frustrations with it..
SENA 10S FAILURE TO RECOGNIZE
Unplug the USB cable (mine so happens to be the OEM)
Open the software
Click “Next”
Plug in device and LEAVE IT OFF!! (Important)
Simply hold the phone button until something happens.
I kept turning mine ON to get the lights blinking BUT that is WRONG no lights will pop up and LEAVE IT OFF.
Worked for me with the SENA 10S
After trying a ton of different cables, disabling driver enforcement etc this surprisingly jus worked on my 10s.. I just held the phone button for a very long time, then clicked Next and it finally recognized it. Thanks a lot

@@waynedavidson8531 glad it worked for you. Although unconventional and having to find my comment to make it work should be avoided by sena themselves but yeah.. not much you can do i guess.
To all those who have problems with updates, try to use a different USB port on the computer, worked for me. I think that the Sena products only work with USB 2.0 and not with 3.0 or 3.1 or higher. If that doesn't work, try another USB cable.
i don't think it has anything to do with the port, my computer only has 2 usb 3.1 ports and i manage to update the firmware, usually the problem is with the cable, there are cables for charging and others for charging and transfering data, you need the second one, most of the cellphone chargers could do the trick
Fix your application, it never works when you are using an X470 motherboard, all the latest driver and Windows updates. I have tried all the USB ports and none will allow the sena 10c Pro to be recognized, if I use one of my older computers it is recognized as it should. Just fix the application manager! Seriously thinking of returning this thing because of the lousy application.
Me and all my friends are giving up on sena finally... my friend had a dual 50s set up where 4 devices couldn't update were giving update errors, and kept replacing the units on warranty, and at one point gave up.. As I am writing this I bough a HJC helmet with integrated sena 50b and there is not even one software update available !! it is stuck on v1.0 ... reading on forums you can see people are frustrated as they struggle with their devices.. Mine for instance is not connecting to the APP at all.. I wanted to update the sena but there isn't any updates... people wrote to Sena asking for update.. sena replies that HJC needs to request an update... then people write to HJC .. and HJC says Sena didn't provide any update... a bloody PING PONG..... Sena is an absolute joke of a company charging premium money for beta devices....
There was no method I didn't try, finally when I changed the cable, the connection was established and I was able to upgrade

I use to have two crappy T-comm intercoms but I wanted something better so I bought two new Sena SMH5 I downloaded the Device Manager and it failed to reconize my SMH5 Many times.....I bought these to a trip i was planning to take tomorrow But because your Crappy device manager sucks so bad............I am with nothing. For the cost of these units one would think you could come up with a better way for your consumers to use them

Same and I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the drivers and the desktop app as well as tried different USB cords per other suggestion. Were you able to remedy this issue?
S Parker I opened a case with Sena as my sons 30K updated with no problems. Same computer, same cable, mine is not recognized. Support responds about once a day. Last response was, if it works, skip the update. If it works?!?! I don’t know about you, but I was VERY disappointed in the 30K when I got it. Not much better than my smh10. All the marketed features were fatally flawed. Now my son reports his works as advertised- HE can listen to music and use the intercom. Me, not so much as I can’t apply the update. Only good thing is up here among the frozen chosen, I have a week to wait on Sena support before the weather is nice again.

The problem is the USB cables, need to be USB 2.0 cables. Other cables don't work.

And why dont u have a library of the drivers needed so u can manually download them? This is the most thrash solution ive ever come across. ive spen 3 hours trying to find a sulution to the problem! gawd darn, u should focus on getting ur shait sorted!

For frustrated 50s/r users who gave up on the wifi connection. You can't update using computer with the cable provided in the kit. I bought a double pack and neither would allow an update. Using my Samsung charger usb I was able to update. Good luck friends. Now I just need to figure out how to get my gfs stupid apple to recognize bluetooth devices.

I wont buy another Sena device, this firmware updating and device manager side of things are hit or miss and frustrating. Its not worth it for me.

Interestingly if you have a 10s and need to update. When you click Next button on Device Recognition, press and hold down the device phone button, if you keep holding it down while the spinner is visible it will eventually detect the 10S and offer you a download/update. Weird crappy software tbh

I have two Sena 10r which sucks because Sena is very incompetent when it comes to programming. Shows up the wrong model and freezes at 9%. With the amount of users having issues I think there products should be taken off the shelves.

Learn to use make a bootloader and use checksums from the mobile app. I shouldn't need a PC...

Device manager don’t recognise my Sena SC1 A,I write to Sena but nobody answer me, this is not correct, I will change my Sena intercom with another brand, don’t buy Sena because in case of some problems nobody will help you.......
Just received my dual 30k sena today and fuck, updating firmware is a bitch, Won't recognized my device at all. It's power off and "Next" takes super long and if double click on the app screen, it will not responding. Paid nearly 500$ for this shit. Hope i can get it going soon.

They made this way to complicated for no reason. Terrible software. I tried to connect it from the 64 bit download and nothing I did worked, so I tried the 32 bit version and it said my device needed the 64 bit version then I tried again on 64 and for some weird reason it worked. Terrible terrible TERRIBLE software issues.

Sena 5s - poor device with poor software - I am comparing with Fodchina something and wanted to make it on updated software but Sena?! - of course fail. So far Sena sofware cannot recognize Sena device.
