Being the flagship killer, I would at least expect Xiaomi "T" series to keep the overused 8MP ultrawide camera, not getting Leica lens treatment, not having a telephoto lens & of course, not having a wireless charging to keep the cost down. While the last part is still true, Xiaomi 13T series really surpassed our expectations with all 3 REALLY useful lenses getting Leica treatment & as a bonus, 4 OS updates. I'm sure that owners of Mi 10 series and earlier (including 9T & 10T series) would be happier to upgrade to 13T series in case they can't afford to get the expensive Xiaomi 13 series. Heck, the non-pro variant of 13T is still a great deal.
I was shocked to see no crappy 8MP sensor and that old poor lens! I guess Leica said no to that one it didn't meet their standards. Yes the non Pro is a hell of a deal this model feels a tad overpriced.
I haven't put my hand on 13T, and might never on 13T Pro (because they won't sell it in my country), but I think This 13T series camera is comparable to 10T Pro. Since I had compared 10T Pro camera to its successor(except 12T Pro, they don't sell it here), 10T Pro main camera is still the best.
The 13T series are a very good offering from Xiaomi! The lieca treatment on the pro cameras is commendable. Nicely done Xiaomi! And the Dimensety performance is really good. This is the best T lineup phone from Xiaomi ever. The features, hardware, camera, etc are totally flagship level but it's not sold at a flagship pricing.

Cracking review! It really goes to show how pointless it is for Apple to keep chasing performance over better cooling. I'm suspecting they do it on purpose at this point because they want to be able to brag about how the newest chip is more powerful than previous gen at the cost of sustained performance.

As much as I like mediatek coping up with their performance, I still hate the fact that the way their chipsets optimization really lacks for developer support, just like custom rom, developer community cannot make custom rom with it because of closed source code, also for emulation and game controller support
I don't know if it's the camera or lighting or backgrounds or anything particular but I must say the overall presentation of the video is just beautiful

Triple camera, IP rating, 144hz (on occasion) and super fast charging. Flat screen, 1.5K and great cameras to boot. After 4 generations of T series, this is the most complete T series smartphone yet. Definitely great value for money.

Thank you Chris for the review. I actually bought the 16gb/1T version this morning. I wish I had Seen this review earlier though it wouldn't really have changed my mind 😅 i really wanted to switch phones after 2,5 years. I agree with you redarding the Price point but early bird offers make up for it pretty well. In the end after trading my old phone with the bonus and my mi points plus coupons it round up to 456€ for both the 13t pro 16/1T + redmi pad SE 4/64 which my kid are gonna use. So my advice is, if you wanna buy it, do it with the early bird offers. Thanks again for the reviews and i'll tell you if the glass back (i chose green) dissipates heat a bit better.

I got it just yesterday (in black). I agree with all what you have said but I am a bit worried about the battery life. It's not bad but... I left it rest for 6 hours last night charged at 72% and in the morning it went down to... 51%. I think it had to send all my possible personal data to China :) I charged it to 100% and now at the end of the day is 60% but... I was not doing a lot. Well I worked so I used the phone occasionally. Some chrome, some teams call, few minutes of youtube that's pretty all. Maybe it is the screen being all the time on 120hz (you mean it doesn't go down to 60hz or less?). Maybe it will get better... I hope. BTW in France the 16GB 1TO is at 899 (isntead of 999) + Redmi Pad SE.

Well... tonight a left the phone with 41% and found it at... 0% this morning. I had such an issue in the past with my mi 9t but it was gone few days or weeks later . Chris does yours do the same (not sure you use it everyday)
Probably the best 1080p front video on any phone, looks even better than the 4k ones, amazing.... DM is a beast gaming chip, they just getting better.... One camera upgrade from Xiaomi, getting the exposure right and this phone will be a force....
SD 8 gen 2>dimensity 9200plus>SD 8 gen plus 1 I think think mediatek chip is the second best chip on the market right now ,so close to SD 8 gen 2 but not quite there,mediatek will eventually surpass SD considering how fast they managed to improve in the last 2-3 years.
Yes they are really doing well, I always think of MediaTek and AMD and Qualcomm Intel. Good to see they are putting the pressure on Qualcomm. It's all good, end of the day we benefit from better chipsets without this competition Qualcomm would be sleeping.

13T pro wasn't bad if not that bad timing releasing it at the end of the year, while xiaomi 14 with new chipset is around the corner. Also pricing of 13T pro is ridiculous, K60 ultra can be had for half as much shipped from giztop to your door in europe in few days with no TAX. Xiaomi needs to do something with pricing, because paying 750eur+ is no go..
The increased pricing was because of Leica collaboration and the extended Software support of 4 yeara Andriod OS upgrades and 5 years security patches which is even better than the 3 OS ups of Xioami13 flagship series,at par with Samsung's Software update policy

@@Techtablets I am looking forward for a new phone and I am particularly interested in the Redmi Note 13 Pro or the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus. I have read, that the Redmi 13 Pro will be with SD 7S Gen 2 and the Pro Plus will be with Dimensity 7200 Ultra. There is time before they release globally, and I am in not hurry. My phone will be over 2 and a half years old, by the time the Redmi Note 13 series releases. The battery does not hold up like before, but then again I am a heavy user.
Thanks Chris love your honest reviews. I would pick one of these up but I'm under contract with my s22 Ultra. I really wish that Samsung would up their game in the charging time. Although it's not bad and I only charged 85 percent and get all day out of it with the screen about half on vivid. Constantly surf. So all those reviews out there saying that this phone has a bad battery life is wrong It's a good phone.
It would cost more because they have usb c 3.1 for data transfer including video out put something xiaomi is lacking the only with 3.0 is the 13 ultra I would rather have 45 wats or 67 with usb c 3.1 for data transfer which will only take 30 mins compared to almost 3 hours because usb c 2.0 is 480mb per second where 3.1 is 10gb per second
It's not s22 ultra or the exynos 2200 it was because Samsung shrunk the s22 and s22 plus both lost 300 mah battery from the s21 models. But Samsung will go back to 6.2 inch for s24 and 6.7 inch for s24 plus with 20/9 aspect ratio, and the plus will have qhd because 23 plus with 1080p is shameful but I'm gonna be waiting for s25 plus if the s24 series is similar to the s23 series I don't want a plus with out a qhd display

@Chris, great review as always. Regarding the performance of iPhone, some other in-depth reviewers also have found that, notably GSMARENA. They found out that iphone 15 pro Max actually throttles more than 14 Pro Max and when the compared with their old results, they found out that 14 Pro Max was faster with the older iOS version. So, when they upgraded the 14 Pro Max to iOS 17 and ran the test, 14 Pro Max performance also started throttling, resulting a lower score than previously with iOS 16.xx. Loosk like Apple has already started throttling the A17 SOC due to higher heat and that firmware, affecting the older phones as well, a very typical Apple behavior.
What is the GPS performance like? Alot of Xiaomi phones had an issue where it takes a while to lock on, and some apps just couldnt use it - especially games that need geolocation 😢
Been a long time xiaomi user since Redmi note 4 to Redmi note 10 pro being the last. In between I used Mi5s. Last month I have had enough of buggy miui and switched to a 2 year old Samsung flagship S21 Ultra. It dawned upon me what have I been missing since ages. I used to think people who spent an upwards of $300 on a phone are bufoons but you have to see for yourself to believe. I got this s21 Ultra for $400 used and it's the smoothest smartphone usage experience I have ever in ages. Never going back to cheap chinese route again no matter how enticing.

is that frame really aluminium? because i have been seeing comments and some reviews stated it as plastic. or is it the glass + plastic and leather + aluminium back frame combo?
It really feels like plastic to me, but apparently, it's alloy or the inner part of it. But no antenna lines has me really questioning it. Outer plastic inner aluminium maybe?
No matter how good or cheap their phones are, after trying their os it is just so bad that i couldn't get a phone from them unless they improve miui drastically

Really appreciate you review from a warmer environment. Had a couple of phones that become toasters when filming for more than 5 minutes and missed recording a couple of important events for my son who loves to watch him and his friends. Really crap way to find out the limitations of your phone while you are already in a hot place holding a molten object above your head and just becoming a big sweaty monster for no benefit. My Oneplus 10 pro is awful even without a case at any temp above 25c.
So far recording with it is fine it's the gaming where it gets hot to the touch. My iphone screen dims really bad recording 4k for long periods as it gets hot and overheats. The s23 ultra screen also dims but it keeps recording no matter what even 8k video.
@@schenatto no I live in Greece and 25 is enough to stop my phone and we get over 40 too and like you more in the sun. But a lot of coverage does not touch on heat impact.
Hello, i just want to ask you since i am planing to buy the 13T Pro, when you were recording video did the main camera fog up or everything was okay? Because i read only 1 comment that it did that prob from the heat

I bought the Japan version (as I live in Japan and need the Japanese version NFC chip) and it unfortunately doesn't have the Leica branding/software (bus same cameras, allegedly). Apparently it's because of licensing. Apparently it's similar in some other markets. Also, the version here only has 1 physical sim slot and esim. This model has 2 physical sims?
Is there any isue with the camera lens being foggy?..in a few other reviews that ive watch they are reporting the camera lens 13t pro being foggy for no reason.
This Redmi 13T & 13T Pro have a real breakthrough in terms of photo sensors. There is no longer a useless macro sensor but on both models a telephoto lens. It's great. On the other hand, I didn't understand why the telephoto lens uses a 50mpx ? Either use the 50mpx for the ultra wide and the 16mox for the 50mm telephoto lens ! Where to use the 50mpx for the telephoto lens but in 75mm without loss and combined x2 and x3 for a very correct x5. like Apple does more or less but there on the same sensor. Shame. but it's still a real step forward, well done
Yes the 2x optical is a puzzling odd choice, really don't get why they did this as the sensor crop rom the main camera is just as good at 2x. I think 3x would have been better suited for for portrait shots better DoF.
I just get the Chinese version of the 13T pro (K60ultra). Only difference is that doesn't have the telephoto camera. But the 16/512gb cost me here in China 370 USD. That's a great deal.

Good review.. but if there are no antenna lines, the build on the edges is probably plastic, since with metal/alloys you need antenna lines (remember Iphone 4 antenna gate..)

It's 530 bucks here in my country. Of course I know it will lose out to iphones in most if not some aspects. You get what you paid. For Xiaomi, you are paying less but for a lot more.
I suspect it's a marketing move, first patch for all the reviewers crazy good performance then later throttle it back for the masses... I hope I'm wrong.

4K60 should be a must nowadays though, 13T doesn't have it.

Just good for 1-2 minute bursts so they need to work on cooling it with copper transfer pipes and vapor chambers.

I agree with you redarding the Price point but early bird offers make up for it pretty well. In the end after trading my old phone with the bonus and my mi points plus coupons it round up to 456€ for both the 13t pro 16/1T + redmi pad SE 4/64 which my kid are gonna use. So my advice is, if you wanna buy it, do it with the early bird offers.

I got it just yesterday (in black). I agree with all what you have said but I am a bit worried about the battery life. It's not bad but... I left it rest for 6 hours last night charged at 72% and in the morning it went down to... 51%. I think it had to send all my possible personal data to China :) I charged it to 100% and now at the end of the day is 60% but... I was not doing a lot. Well I worked so I used the phone occasionally. Some chrome, some teams call, few minutes of youtube that's pretty all. Maybe it is the screen being all the time on 120hz (you mean it doesn't go down to 60hz or less?). Maybe it will get better... I hope. BTW in France the 16GB 1TO is at 899 (isntead of 999) + Redmi Pad SE.
Battery does seem worse now than the 13 Pro. Nice deal in France, we got the A2 4k TV.

Well... tonight a left the phone with 41% and found it at... 0% this morning. I had such an issue in the past with my mi 9t but it was gone few days or weeks later . Chris does yours do the same (not sure you use it everyday)

I think think mediatek chip is the second best chip on the market right now ,so close to SD 8 gen 2 but not quite there,mediatek will eventually surpass SD considering how fast they managed to improve in the last 2-3 years.
Yes they are really doing well, I always think of MediaTek and AMD and Qualcomm Intel. Good to see they are putting the pressure on Qualcomm. It's all good, end of the day we benefit from better chipsets without this competition Qualcomm would be sleeping.

13T pro wasn't bad if not that bad timing releasing it at the end of the year, while xiaomi 14 with new chipset is around the corner. Also pricing of 13T pro is ridiculous, K60 ultra can be had for half as much shipped from giztop to your door in europe in few days with no TAX. Xiaomi needs to do something with pricing, because paying 750eur+ is no go..
K60 ultra has worse camera too
The increased pricing was because of Leica collaboration and the extended Software support of 4 yeara Andriod OS upgrades and 5 years security patches which is even better than the 3 OS ups of Xioami13 flagship series,at par with Samsung's Software update policy

I have read, that the Redmi 13 Pro will be with SD 7S Gen 2 and the Pro Plus will be with Dimensity 7200 Ultra. There is time before they release globally, and I am in not hurry. My phone will be over 2 and a half years old, by the time the Redmi Note 13 series releases. The battery does not hold up like before, but then again I am a heavy user.
Thanks Chris love your honest reviews. I would pick one of these up but I'm under contract with my s22 Ultra. I really wish that Samsung would up their game in the charging time. Although it's not bad and I only charged 85 percent and get all day out of it with the screen about half on vivid. Constantly surf. So all those reviews out there saying that this phone has a bad battery life is wrong It's a good phone.

It would cost more because they have usb c 3.1 for data transfer including video out put something xiaomi is lacking the only with 3.0 is the 13 ultra I would rather have 45 wats or 67 with usb c 3.1 for data transfer which will only take 30 mins compared to almost 3 hours because usb c 2.0 is 480mb per second where 3.1 is 10gb per second
That's true with the 120W only this port can do it and it's stuck to USB 2.0 with no video support. They decided 120W was better than USB 3.1.
It's not s22 ultra or the exynos 2200 it was because Samsung shrunk the s22 and s22 plus both lost 300 mah battery from the s21 models. But Samsung will go back to 6.2 inch for s24 and 6.7 inch for s24 plus with 20/9 aspect ratio, and the plus will have qhd because 23 plus with 1080p is shameful but I'm gonna be waiting for s25 plus if the s24 series is similar to the s23 series I don't want a plus with out a qhd display

@Chris, great review as always. Regarding the performance of iPhone, some other in-depth reviewers also have found that, notably GSMARENA. They found out that iphone 15 pro Max actually throttles more than 14 Pro Max and when the compared with their old results, they found out that 14 Pro Max was faster with the older iOS version. So, when they upgraded the 14 Pro Max to iOS 17 and ran the test, 14 Pro Max performance also started throttling, resulting a lower score than previously with iOS 16.xx. Loosk like Apple has already started throttling the A17 SOC due to higher heat and that firmware, affecting the older phones as well, a very typical Apple behavior.
I'm not surprised at all and yes that is very typcial of Apple to do that.

What is the GPS performance like? Alot of Xiaomi phones had an issue where it takes a while to lock on, and some apps just couldnt use it - especially games that need geolocation 😢
It's fine, the older model with mediatek use to be very slow. But this took about 40 seconds first lock, I even have lock inside with GPS test.

Been a long time xiaomi user since Redmi note 4 to Redmi note 10 pro being the last. In between I used Mi5s. Last month I have had enough of buggy miui and switched to a 2 year old Samsung flagship S21 Ultra. It dawned upon me what have I been missing since ages.
I used to think people who spent an upwards of $300 on a phone are bufoons but you have to see for yourself to believe. I got this s21 Ultra for $400 used and it's the smoothest smartphone usage experience I have ever in ages. Never going back to cheap chinese route again no matter how enticing.
Yes MIUI is not a patch on OneUI which is superior.

It really feels like plastic to me, but apparently, it's alloy or the inner part of it. But no antenna lines has me really questioning it. Outer plastic inner aluminium maybe?

Really appreciate you review from a warmer environment. Had a couple of phones that become toasters when filming for more than 5 minutes and missed recording a couple of important events for my son who loves to watch him and his friends. Really crap way to find out the limitations of your phone while you are already in a hot place holding a molten object above your head and just becoming a big sweaty monster for no benefit. My Oneplus 10 pro is awful even without a case at any temp above 25c.
So far recording with it is fine it's the gaming where it gets hot to the touch. My iphone screen dims really bad recording 4k for long periods as it gets hot and overheats. The s23 ultra screen also dims but it keeps recording no matter what even 8k video.
Do you think 25°C is hot? I live in Brazil, cell phones here are always between 36°C and 42°C with basic use because of the heat!
@@schenatto no I live in Greece and 25 is enough to stop my phone and we get over 40 too and like you more in the sun. But a lot of coverage does not touch on heat impact.

I bought the Japan version (as I live in Japan and need the Japanese version NFC chip) and it unfortunately doesn't have the Leica branding/software (bus same cameras, allegedly). Apparently it's because of licensing. Apparently it's similar in some other markets.
Also, the version here only has 1 physical sim slot and esim. This model has 2 physical sims?

Is there any isue with the camera lens being foggy?..in a few other reviews that ive watch they are reporting the camera lens 13t pro being foggy for no reason.
This Redmi 13T & 13T Pro have a real breakthrough in terms of photo sensors. There is no longer a useless macro sensor but on both models a telephoto lens. It's great. On the other hand, I didn't understand why the telephoto lens uses a 50mpx ? Either use the 50mpx for the ultra wide and the 16mox for the 50mm telephoto lens ! Where to use the 50mpx for the telephoto lens but in 75mm without loss and combined x2 and x3 for a very correct x5. like Apple does more or less but there on the same sensor. Shame. but it's still a real step forward, well done
Yes the 2x optical is a puzzling odd choice, really don't get why they did this as the sensor crop rom the main camera is just as good at 2x. I think 3x would have been better suited for for portrait shots better DoF.

I just get the Chinese version of the 13T pro (K60ultra). Only difference is that doesn't have the telephoto camera. But the 16/512gb cost me here in China 370 USD. That's a great deal.

Good review.. but if there are no antenna lines, the build on the edges is probably plastic, since with metal/alloys you need antenna lines (remember Iphone 4 antenna gate..)

It's 530 bucks here in my country. Of course I know it will lose out to iphones in most if not some aspects. You get what you paid. For Xiaomi, you are paying less but for a lot more.
You can find the 23 ultra with 8ram and 256 at that price or +50$. But still woth a tablet,TV,rpbpt vaccum it was a good option.
There's even a report of overheating on the Iphone... Not sure how hot is that..
It happens yes it's because it has no proper cooler on the A17 Pro no heat pipes or vapor chamber nothing as they have always done.
