- I have often said in interviews that one of my all-time proudest moments was the performance by my University of Kansas Chamber Choir of the Tallis 40 Part Motet under the spire of Salisbury Cathedral during our first tour together in my third year as Director of Choral Activities. To my delight and astonishment, a video of that performance (taken by a well-wisher during the concert) has suddenly appeared out of nowhere. and I am very grateful to my friend from those days Jeff Carter for sharing this with me. The quality is certainly not “commercial” (!) but as a souvenir of our work together I find it very moving. This was a new experience for everyone concerned and I thank those wonderful mid-Westerners for their beautiful voices, their musical intelligence, dedication and hard work!
