- A visual representation of Thomas Tallis' forty-part masterpiece. ORA Singers commissioned Stephen Malinowski (musanim.com) to create this wonderful piece in response to the brand new album release, 'TALLIS Spem in alium MACMILLAN Vidi aquam', released on 21st August through the harmonia mundi label. The animation allows you to see the intricate details of Tallis' 40-part composition, following each line through a 'meal of vocal spaghetti'! (**** Geoff Brown, The Times)
Celebrating Tallis' original motet alongside a brand-new commission, the full album has been released to mark the 450th anniversary of Thomas Tallis' motet and to present the world premiere recording of Sir James MacMillan's astonishing new 40-part reflection, titled 'Vidi aquam'. "A really special choral cascade of consolation” (Tom Service, BBC Radio 3).

Very, very good and beatiful. Tempo straigt in the whole composition. Super!
I recall listening to this in King’s College chapel, Cambridge. The combination of this music and that building brought me to tears.
Superb, a wall of sound nearly 400 years before Phil Spector
amazing, thank you!
It's rare to hear a recording in the original key signature in which it was composed (C), but I'm here for it
@Bingusian Chungusan That's very good to know, thank you for the suggestions! I agree about the Tallis Scholars, but didn't know the reason why the sopranos were too loud which is very interesting.
Going to go enjoy some other recordings - this version has been my go to but you may have opened my eyes.
Well this is the most popular version of the piece so I guess it’s not too rare
Brilliant❤️
OMG, this is is so amazing!
This is beautiful, makes me picture a pyrrhic victory.
