    Dude, I was watching a UA-cam video about how important a title is for a UA-cam video, as are many other aspects of a video, and while listening to some of the examples given, I thought of this channel. Obviously, all of this is my opinion. Overall, you create videos that are both entertaining and instructive. My main concern is how often you guys use titles like this video has, “Don’t Buy this DEWALT Tool Accessory. Seriously”. Presumably your goal is to catch someone’s attention and make them want to watch the video, and for me it has worked. But I think like anything we need to be careful about how often we use a particular formula. Even prior to watching the video about how we can make our UA-cam videos stand out, I was beginning to become frustrated that just like this video does I feel like it’s deceptive and not totally honest. The title seems so dramatic, and because it’s concerning a tool brand that I like, it makes me want to find out what this tool accessory is that I shouldn’t buy why I should Buy it except when I watch the video, it’s basically a review of the accessory. There’s no reason given as to why someone shouldn’t buy it. I start the video thinking, oh my God, DEWALT must have really screwed up. I start the video and realize it they got me again. I know this sounds like I’m being critical, which I guess I am, but hopefully you are able to reframe it to “this guy enjoys my videos enough, and cares about me enough that he took the time to provide feedback”. If I thought it was all just crap, I would not even bother to comment. So thank you for all that you do.

I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring: This is the first time i have ever watched one of your videos, yes i watched due to the title, so good job. I left a thumbs down because i felt suckered. I will actively avoid any other videos from this channel simply because of the deceptive nature of the title. • @Deadite9405
    @Deadite9405 3 роки тому +27

    I feel like the main use case for this is with smaller impact wrenches to effectively turn them into normal impact drivers. For example, the M12 FUEL 3/8" or 1/2" impact wrenches are pretty similar form factors to the M12 FUEL impact driver, but they have more power. As a small engine mechanic, I end up running sockets constantly, but since I also repair electric power tools, I need to run 1/4" hex bits all the time as well. The 1/4" hex to 3/8" and 1/2" square adapters work fine, but I've seen people snap socket adapters. This looks like it's got to be at least as sturdy as the collet on an impact driver, and the overall tool length would be about the same as the impact driver too. I love the M12 FUEL impact driver I already have and have no plans to switch away from it, but if I didn't already own it and was trying to decide between the impact driver or one of the impact wrenches, this type of accessory would be a pretty compelling reason to go with the impact wrench instead of the impact driver from the start.

    I was wandering around lowes the other day and I found this by accident, someone had left it out in a conspicuous spot. This adapter immediately made complete sense to me. I thought of the stud packs that, as an electrician, I have to drill through ( 4 to 6 2x6 s) is not easy to do. I use my kobalt (non xtr 1/2 impact wrench) to drill through these stud packs. I found if you use # 12 solid wire through that hole in the adapter through the 1/2 anvil that you put the sockets usually go on, drawing back the bit out of the wood isn't an issue any longer. Just FYI.

    I bought this in combination with the DCF894 after a job where I was afraid my impact driver would melt in my hand, I wanted a reliable way driving really long thick screws or deck screws for extended periods of time and figured this would make for a good combo, and though my impact wrench has paid for itself in car work mostly, it's still great to have a really meaty back-up should something come up.

    Old video, but whatever, I'm going to share my very specific use for this tool.
    I'm an agricultural/utility fencing contractor here in the UK. Fitting gates I would have use for a large cordless drill, large impact wrench and smaller impact driver. Instead I use a 7/16 drive lineman's impact. Large augers fit straight into the 7/16 for easy boring through the 8-10 inch posts. I carry an adapter for 1/2 drive sockets that I use for the hinge hardware, and this adapter for smaller augers sometimes needed for hardware fits on timber gates. One tool instead of 3, more efficient and less to carry

I would have expected the pin hole to be drilled both sides to secure the pin before fitting the o-ring, This one is drilled one side only so the pin sticks out 1/4" from the o-ring groove. Once in place it is loose and wobbles around and when used with dewalt screwdriver bits they are so out of control it is really unusable. I am really surprised dewalt let this through their quality checks. Cost me around £10 GBP on Amazon, a total waste of money, trash for the can.

    I have an old Makita impact driver and I've had it for at least 10 years. I recently bought the new Makita 172 and frankly now im spoiled because its so fast and powerfull. I usually like runing 2 impacts on a job because quite often there are two kinds of fixing and it wastes a lot of time changing bits if you only have one. My old impact driver is sooooooo sllllooooww and I'm treating myself to an upgrade. Sometimes I fix big concrete bolts and other large nuts, the problem is the 1/4inch hex to 3/8 adapters are weak and often snap. thge real nightmare scenario is if they snap in such a way that its hard to remove the broken part from the impact so my solution is to get an impact wrench for the heavy work and use this adapter to turn it into a second impact so that if I'm doing a job that requires two different screws it can do that as well as the heavy bolts

    Hello
    I use the German Metabo version on the 18V Metabo compact 300 foot pound 1/2" impact all the time.
    In installation work it's a must. The Getman Metabo version has been out for a couple of years. There a must, just a bit pricey.

    So I just bought the Milwaukee version of this adapter with a corded Milwaukee Impact wrench... It was either this or a Makita corded impact that has a 1/4 in hex quick release... But the wrench has so much torque. What do you guys think? I just want something corded for big jobs... "Let me charge my 8 batteries". Milwaukee employee at home depot was doing something and I stopped and talked to him.. he said all the corded stuff is going away. Basically for creating large holes for HDMI cable through say 9 boards... 9 is my record. I used a Ryobi 1HP Impact battery with a 1ft extension and one of those spade bits... 1 1/2 inch. I like those more than the Irwin speedbore because those are hard to punch through the final board at the very end. What would you guys use???

    So, this is why a ball detent is best, lol. I don’t think I own any impacts with ball detents, which drives my dad crazy (as he’s old school & think the big ring is weird, lol).
    For a second when backed that drill bit out & it came out, almost thought was the adapter, good thing it wasn’t.
    Liked the tool mash up: kobalt, DeWalt, Milwaukee.....use what ya got 😁
    Wouldn’t mind seeing that Dewalt storage case you had there though, & seeing the load out you have in it😉
    Have good one vcg✌🏼

    Looking at that I think you might be better off just going and getting that 7/16 linesman impact driver that Milwaukee makes order a similar tool if anybody else has got one does that see that that adapter coming off that hog ring up or you're pretty much it's going to do that with any impact wrench so yeah just need a bigger impact driver so that big linesman impact drivers just the solution is I think a better solution to this kind of problem

    This adapter is used with that rubber ring limiter, just to avoid tearing off the shaft of the device. The fact that you don't know how to use it correctly tells me a lot about your professionalism!

    It be better for using on a socket wrench to use as an adapter for driving screws. But then agian dont they have adapters that convert so its easier to do this. What would be better is if dewalt made a 3/8 to 1/4 collet, and then a 1/4 to 1/4 collet then sell it as a 3 pack so you can use regular bits with a socket wrench because then a person can use there socket wench with any fastener, similar to how you can use a drill with any sockets.

    Does anyone know of a brand that makes a good 1/4 inch square to 1/4 inch hex adapter like this. I’ve been looking for one for the 1/4 inch stubby I picked up the other day

  • @TrueNomadSkies
    @TrueNomadSkies 3 роки тому +3

    I had one of these adaptors before, a 1/4 hex to a drill style keyless chuck. Basically got it so that I could use my small impact with traditional style drill bits and allen keys that I cut myself at a production job that didn't have a quick connect end. They don't replace the proper tool or proper bits, but can be useful in unique situations or when you don't have or don't wanna lug around your entire tool box.

    It's a solution looking for a problem. Cordless drills are inexpensive and what tool lover needs an excuse to buy a new tool? I can't imagine an owner of a cordless impact wrench isn't already going to have a cordless drill or a regular impact driver.

    I bought one of these of a different brand online, i do van conversions, i use my impact wrench all day every day for a range of fitments, the other guys who use impact drivers all have tape around the chuck to hold the bits in as the chuck has failed, if my adapter fails I will buy another adapter from China for 2 pound, I've been using this one for over year with no sign that it might fail soon, plus it means I only have to carry one tool instead of two

  • @joshbenton810

    Its not ideal as my impact wrench is more likely to over tighten fasteners and is big and clumsy, but having that adaptor in my apron while using my wrench without my driver has saved me walking back to my ute to grab my driver a fair few times now as i can just grab my adaptor and bits from my apron

    Pretty simple, it's why you can love a company like DeWalt. Instead of selling you 3 different drills (own the 887,
    923 ⅜ , and 891½" like I do) save $200 and put your warranty and impact wrench to work. I like the idea that my drills may last a long time, having one variation of each, and I'd still get THAT BIT! no brainer, Feb 2023, not super easy to find!

    18v combi drill driver saves all this crap, this just invents a problem where none exists, I would not cart an impact wrench to a carpentry job.
