  • Once a hive of activity, the airfield at Tangmere played a crucial role in the Battle of britain and the D-day assaults.
The airfield was home to spitfire squadrons as well as legendary pilot Douglas Bader.
However the RAF left Tangmere in 1970, and since then the control tower has been left in ruin.
Now though after securing heritage status, the parish council along with the University of Chichester and the nearby military aviation museum, have launched a campaign to restore the tower to its former glory.

This Amazing Airfield Has to be Saved for England's History. I Am Fed Up of My Lousy Spineless GOVERN,Meant to destroy anything English that defended My Country through The Battle of Britain. Such Sacred sites of Monumental historical interest Should be savoured and cherished Forever. We SHALL REMEMBER THEM 🌹
