    L/S of a small village school, groups of children and teachers are stood outside. One group walks off to the left. The camera pans round to show other groups stood round a blackboard or sat on the grass. M/S of the children stood around, a teacher is pointing to a blackboard with a stick. He finishes and walks off with his pupils. This is a project to chronicle various aspects of the village, from myths and legends to measuring the curve of the roads.
    L/S of the school gate, pupils walk through it holding various implements. M/S of the children as they leave. L/S as the children walk down a country lane past the camera. L/S of three boys stood round the Staddle, a stone relic which looks like a big mushroom; they are Christopher Glasspool John Stevens, and Barry Nolan. Barry is measuring the Staddle. A girl, Jane Cook, is sat down behind it sketching. M/S as another girl, Hazel Mawby, walks in to the frame with a camera, she kneels to take a picture. M/S of Barry measuring the Staddle from top to bottom. John hands him a piece of card which he puts on top of the Staddle, the boys crouch down to have a look at it. L/S of a group of children stood at the side of the road, some are holding sticks and some have a long measuring tape between them. They are John Kimber, David Minns, Pauline Evans, Anne Richardson, Sidney Longhurst and Leonard Bridger. David Balchin comes along and throws a measuring tape across to the wall, John Kimber picks it up, M/S as he measures and hands it back to David. C/U of Pauline as she holds one of the poles. M/S as the boys do more measuring. C/U of a boy's face as he turns and speaks to someone off screen.
    L/S of a graveyard with the church behind it. Rosemary England is sat on the ground sketching a tombstone. Two boys, Robin Cotman and David Prior, are doing a brass rubbing of another tomb behind her. M/S various shots of the boys doing the brass rubbing. L/S of Anne Boswell and Greer Hitchman at the Lynch gate, the camera pans round to Diana Huskinson and Anne Scobie who are sketching a tombstone. M/S as a teacher comes along to give them instructions. C/U over Diana's shoulder to show her sketch. M/S of two more girls sketching, they are Linda Turner and Deirdre Holson. C/U of Deirdre's face.
    M/S of a group of children stood round a stream, they are Deirdre Dummer, Avril Scobie, who is holding a stopwatch, Anthony Martin and Roger Dummer who puts a piece of wood into the water. The group watch it float down. C/U of Avril's face. C/U of the wood as it floats down the stream. C/U of Deirdre's face as she watches it. C/U of the stopwatch as Avril presses the button.
    L/S of a windmill, the camera pans down to a field in front of it where three girls are sketching, they are June Smith, Sheila Doe and Barbara Upton. Robert Delacour is stood with a camera. Various shots of the children sketching. M/S of Robert lying on the grass with his camera, one of the girls is beside him sketching.
