No I'm not Italian, however, one of my dearest friends was an Italian Chef and he taught me so much. He was my greatest cooking inspiration. I was supposed to help him with his English instead we bumbled around the kitchen cooking, laughing, eating, drinking and talking Ital-glish. I miss him very much and think of him each time I cook something from his home country.Your parents will know this dish. Nobody could be expected to know every dish from every region. I am happy we could share it with you. Thanks for the feedback :-))
I'm sure she will know the cake. Hope she doesn't beat me up too much for my pronunciation & not adding mixed peel. It's just too painful to watch Richo picking it out of food.
Thank you very much for the feedback. I believe this is the same or very similar to a Siena cake, which is apparently named after the region in Italy. I don't use cloves because I find the taste overpowering, plus the smell and flavour reminds of a visit to the dentist. Feel free to include them if that is your preference. I would use them very sparingly so as to lose the other delicious flavours in this festive cake. Thank you very much for watching.;-))
Yes you can, Agave, rice malt syrup, maple syrup, golden syrup, Natvia and sugar will all give a lovely sweetness to this recipe and all add their own unique subtle flavour as well. Thank you for your question and for watching.;-))
How fantastic! That looks amazing. Never heard of this before. Thanks cheeky
You're welcome. It's my Mums favorite, she asked for it every Christmas. It's a popular traditional Italian dessert. Thanks for watching. :-))
OMG are you Italian ? I'm Italian but born here. Both my parents are full Italian though. Can't believe I've never heard if it, I feel like a twit LOL

Thank you I do like a hint of cloves only. I do agree they can be overpowering.
Can we use sugar only. Instead of honey any substitute for it
