This information is very timely for me. I was just the other day attempting to capture a lizard resting on my retaining wall so I could introduce him or her to the inside of my greenhouse. It was meant to be a kind gesture, and a win win kind of thing for both of us since I know there are lots of appetizing things in there that would surely interest a reptile of its type, but it appeared the lizard thought I had a malicious intention and scurried away. This trap is the perfect solution.
I made something similar for tadpole trapping. The difference is I had to use wire to secure the two pieces together. One of them can unclasp so that I can open it. The other side has a wire that I'd looped through the hole and wrapped up, this acts as a hinge when opening it and it also is what I tied a long string to so I can throw it out deep and not have to worry about how to get It back.
Okay:) Also, tray and make sure to put the trap in the shade a bit so the crickets to not die from the heat. The lizards are way less likely to try and eat them if they are not moving.
I made some other video's you guys may like! Check links in my video description above and let me know what you all think:) I did some video's on WASP attacking worms!! I am thinking about doing more videos like this one!
It works! We had a huge alligator lizard in our house for over ten days...I was freaking out every time I opened a cupboard or moved furniture because we didn't know where he was - I Christened him Lenny -...anyway...I made the trap as above and put it in the laundry after Lenny was seen running under the washer - eek! I put a couple of flies I'd trapped, then left the bottle to go to the pet store and buy some crickets...when I got back - there was Lenny - in the bottle! I gave him a meal of the crickets then took him out and set him free...He should be named Lucky Lizard now! thanks!
I saw an alligator lizard trying to get into my mealworm shipment on the porch and she was so skinny! I googled "lizard trap" and found this video. An hour later she was caught and had a full belly. Thanks so much! Works really well!
@Thomay99 Thanks! Most lizards that I can think of love crickets!!! On this video I put a link to my DIY cricket trap. Go watch it and build a cricket trap:)
Thxs so much, I was trying to look everywhere for a video like this. While I was looking I found this video. I pressed and saw that you could catch a lizard like this. Usually people would suggest using a normal waterbottle, although that doesnt have enough space for the lizard to move around. When you said 2 liter bottle with holes that could also catch fish, I thought oh well idk lets wach. At the end you caught a lizard in a friendly way instead of trapping them in a small container
Well it's 12 a.m so I guess ill try this out later on :) can't Waite.! I live in California and I see a bunch of lizards hopefully i get some :) thanks for the video.!
@therealvirginiawind If he would just listen!! LoL!! I'm really happy it will help:) One other thing I did to make sure the lizards could crawl into the trap was to scuff up the entrance so he/she could get a better grip and get in:)
O thank you Michael:) Please do get back to all of us and let us know if this works good enough for you! If I can make a suggestion I would say make a bunch of them and set the traps all over the place.
@Rulerofminecraftful I'm sure they are confused. What i did in the video was set the trap then walk away. You can set the trap and leave it over night and come back to check it. Use crickets:)
depends on your location best thing is to do some research of the lizards in your area and what they feed on so that's what you put or put in crushed minnows for the scent of the lizards that's what i used. and I have some small skinks
i took two of these cut the top and bottom off one and just the bottom off the other and made a Bazooka Minnow Trap" TM i came up with it so i named it. its just a longer version of the one you have. Im guessing you used a soldering iron like i use. you could actually cut the bottoms off 2 and make your own aquarium cage and poke holes on in the tops where the handles would be you could feed him/her from either side with a 20oz,-2liter if you felt like it.
Wait will a blue belly a eat roly poly? I was interested in having one, but I need a practical way to feed them since a pet store trip might not be convenient as a college student. However, I did watch your video on the cricket trap which I could try using, but are blue bellies picky about diet?
Call me Matt buddy:) That is so cool you caught the skink!!! I don't know that you can get a snake with it. You are the 1st one I can think of that has tried it but if you can do it that would be sweet!! Keep us posted dude!
Bearded dragons are a bigger lizard and I don't think they can fit through the hole if you are using the same bottle as me. Please post a video of your setup so I can see what your doing. Thanks:)
I just made something like this 2 days ago and I have already gotten 5 minnows with just a piece of bread as bait. If you use it for minnows though, make sure you tape the two pieces together.
That depends on the lizard. Most will eat crickets. I put a link to my cricket trap on this video so follow the link and see how to catch the crickets that you can use for the lizard trap:)
O thanks bro:) That blesses me man! I got lots more going on outside UA-cam. If you want to join me on my other pages that are packed ideas like this! Private message me and I will send you links!
@Rulerofminecraftful This trap will not trap crickets. You need to ether catch some or go to Petco to get them. Just catch any bugs and put them in the trap.
Hi Joey:) Any bug should work as long as the lizards can see the bugs moving in the trap. Try different bugs and put it where you know there is a lizard. Be patient and you will get one! Look up Rollie pollies on the internet to see what they look like and it should not be to hard to find them. They will sleep under wood in shaded areas. Hope that helps little buddy!
Niiiiice! Here in NC we have an abundance of those little green lizards. Not sure what they're actually called but they green and a lizard so green lizard works for me!
What kind of bait you using? What kind of lizards are they? It may be to lat in your area since lizards are starting to hibernate for winter:( Let me know!
nice one ,did you get the design off my channel as this is one of my traps i posted ages ago on youtube ,ive also made a mousetrap out of a pop bottle ,you should try that one

I am very happy to help!! Have you made it and tested it out yet? If not, make one and let us all know how it works for you:)

I made one similar, only without holes. I filled it with earthworms, and caught garter snakes. Thanks for this great idea!!! :)
@leona coburn That's a great question! It's a small fish (kind of like a guppy) that people use for bait.
Nice!!! I am happy it worked for you Carolina!!
thats a great idea and it worked i also tried your cricket trap and that worked as well keep up the good work bro
@jorge rivas Thanks:) It works great and I have lizards in my garden now to help me with pest!

Thank you so much for this... we are making about 6 of these today, trying to move some of our outside lizards inside.
Bro why were you trying to bring lizards inside 💀
@Yolande Buys Thank you for watching:)
Keep at it:) Try using crickets! They jump around a lots so the lizards would see them better.
Yes, it is:) We call them blue bellies here. The male's have blue belly's while the female's are lacking the blue.
cool trap bro!
Yes, it works for both Lizards and Minnows. Frog's as well if they can fit through that bottle hole:)
Well it's 12 a.m so I guess ill try this out later on :) can't Waite.! I live in California and I see a bunch of lizards hopefully i get some :) thanks for the video.!

@Hannah Valle Worked great for me and lots of other people on here:)
@Rulerofminecraftful I'm sure they are confused. What i did in the video was set the trap then walk away. You can set the trap and leave it over night and come back to check it. Use crickets:)
You are the master:)
depends on your location best thing is to do some research of the lizards in your area and what they feed on so that's what you put or put in crushed minnows for the scent of the lizards that's what i used. and I have some small skinks
No problem:)
thats a brillant idea! i would like to join :D
i made a minnow trap like that a it worked really well
I got them for my garden:) They help with pest. I catch them to give them a new home at my house.
Agreed:)
i took two of these cut the top and bottom off one and just the bottom off the other and made a Bazooka Minnow Trap" TM i came up with it so i named it. its just a longer version of the one you have. The size of the one I made will work great:)

Call me Matt buddy:) That is so cool you caught the skink!!! I don't know that you can get a snake with it. You are the 1st one I can think of that has tried it but if you can do it that would be sweet!! Keep us posted dude!
Thanks:)
what can I use as bait to catch one that got in my house? not keen on using live bugs
I would need to know exactly what you did, what bait you used, if you put it in a lizard area, etc etc.
I'm sure it would as well:)
It works good for fish as well:)
Cool Jon:) What did you use them for?
thanks sooo much.
@samoangirl15 Did you mean "Got me a lizard."? If you did, what did you catch?
That depends on the lizard. Most will eat crickets. I put a link to my cricket trap on this video so follow the link and see how to catch the crickets that you can use for the lizard trap:)
O thanks bro:) That blesses me man! I got lots more going on outside UA-cam. If you want to join me on my other pages that are packed ideas like this! Private message me and I will send you links!
@Blake7585 Thanks!!
this is amazing...... thank's dude
@Rulerofminecraftful This trap will not trap crickets. You need to ether catch some or go to Petco to get them. Just catch any bugs and put them in the trap.
if you go to 4:08 and read the caption you will burst out laughing
Thats awsome, im going to use that trap to catch anoles on my deck
Live bugs is the only thing that will work. They are attracted to the movement.
Nice!!!
Make like 5 or 6 of these and set the traps all over the place:) Better chance of catching stuff!
You need to pay closer attention to the video. I address the issue of them climbing into the trap:)
Coo!! Please make sure to update us:) I am not sure how well it will work for geckos since they can crawl up most things.
@kodyrude Cool!! I wish we had those out here:)
Niiiiice! Here in NC we have an abundance of those little green lizards. Not sure what they're actually called but they green and a lizard so green lizard works for me!

I've seen that method and yes, it works as well:)
What kind of bait you using? What kind of lizards are they? It may be to lat in your area since lizards are starting to hibernate for winter:( Let me know!
