582 views right now and only 83 likes. Not everyone knows how UA-cam works but liking the video goes a long way. The man works hard and cranks these out on the side so show some love

I grew up in Linden Alabama. My house was the old Valston Hotel and it was about 50 feet away from the spot where Rube Burrows was shot and killed.

As a contended resident if Lower Alabama - The Wiregrass - let me assure you that life in rural Alana is way better than life in New Jersey!!!!!!

Man you know how to make a grown man cry! I’m standing here in my mom and dad’s driveway at 0214hrs. setting fence post in concrete so they’ll be set up enough tomorrow when I get home from work to continue building a new fence in front of the old one that’s falling down. And you are explaining my life and being broke. Thanks friend God Bless You.

One of my best friends is his great grandson. He got to hold the rifle that Rube is holding in his "death photo", a copy of which graced his office wall. Possibly the most interesting "bandit" in our history.

The 38-40 was one of the calibers Winchester made for the 1873 Winchester rifle. It was called the 38 Winchester Center Fire. It was actually a 40 caliber. Colt and everybody else chambered pistols for it. Lots of people didn't want to write the name of another gun maker on their weapons so it was called the 38-40 by lots of folks, manufacturers and purchasers alike. You can still find guns in this caliber. I think John Wayne's personal pistol, used in a lot of his movies, was a .38-40. Uberti makes a copy called the Rooster Shooter, but I've never seen one in .38-40. Kinda sad. Great podcast. You are my favorite story teller, bar none.

I've always been a fan of your podcast even going back to the bloody beaver days, and I love seeing your show evolve and grow. I have to say though its nice to not have to shun my kids out of the room when I listen. Love the changes your making and keep em coming brother!

What I came here for, was an entertaining story out of history. What I got was a reality check on life and the current state (and past for that matter) on capitalism and the rich man. Preach brother Josh. Too many of us have lived the life of tuna and bologna. Glad to hear of others whom have lived through it and come out the other side. These are the tales of a silent majority that society tends to ignore, in an effort to dangle the carrot that is the American Dream.

Rube was a 4th cousin to Clyde Barrow of Texas fame - one of their relatives changed the spelling of their name.
