I'm remembering the story very well. 😅😅😅. The most of the Germans felt sorry for him after he was caught. Real smart guy 😂

I remember this as it was yesterday. They actually made a movie out of this: Das Phantom - Die Jagd nach Dagobert (The Phantom - Hunt for Scrooge McDuck)

I remember Dagobert and his stories so well, too. The first thing that gets in my mind when I think about Dagobert was the handover with the remote controlled mini train. He builded a monorailtrain out of rollerskates and a remote controlled modelcar, placed this vehicle on one rail of a not or scant used railroadtrack. On top of the vehicle the police had to place the moneybag and the little monorailtrain started with enormous speed down the railway.. but this handover also failed, because the moneybag was too heavy and the mini-train too fast, so it jumped out of the track just a few meters later... I was rolling over the floor laughing 🤣

The surname Dagobert is actually of medieval Frankish origins. Three kings of the Merovingian dynasty (7th to 8th century) of the Frankish empire were named Dagobert. It came again in fashion in the 19th century (the era of romantic historicism), but is very rare nowadays. Allegedly the German translator Erika Fuchs named the Disney character after the Merovingian kings, but also because of the alliteration with Donald Duck.

Leonardo di Caprio played Frank Abagnale in "Catch me if you can". Apparently, Frank Abagnale is still a con-man of sorts, as in his autobiography, he talks about events that have never happend (like him passing the bar exam in Lousiana).
