I agree with Ravenblackwood, Morgana and her sisters are priestesses or druidesses living on a sepulchral island dedicated to High Kings. Romans wrote about similar Celtic islands of priestesses so there is germ of historical fact. It's only in later centuries that they were essentially demonized by outside non Celtic writers.

@shadowwood549 It’s definitely complicated! Which is what makes it so interesting. The lore on the Arthurian Legend goes so deep and is so intricate. I could make several series on it, especially with so many versions. I love it so much! With every dark side, there must be a light side somewhere, which I can also cover.😌
@MystikManor there are so many different versions of the same story and legends that it bottles the mind. And there's so much to it, and that's half of the interesting and intriguing part.
I enjoyed this video. For people that want a different take on Merlin, DC comics did an interesting take on him in the Etrigan the Demon comic in the nineties.
There's really nothing that shows Merlin as darker than any other human being. The description of Merlin can fit any person that ever held power in history. And as to his teaching women that were just a flat out bad decision, mmmm an older man who became absolutely infatuated with a young woman to the point of totally ignoring her bad qualities, totally unbelievable! I've never heard of that happening before!
I prefer the original Welsh version where there was no animosity between Arthur and his sisters. They were his allies, while it was other Welsh noble men who were his political enemies. Also, in the oldest original Welsh sources knowledge was taught male to female and female to male. The idea of evil women of knowledge originates from outsiders.
Awesome! first time in the channel, liked and subscribed. I think Merlin's unethical and puppeteer like behavior could better be explained if he wasn't just a man but a stand in for a secret organization or very high level war council tasked with consolidating the power in the island under one banner, it didn't matter whose banner (they could deal with that later) what mattered was that they stop fighting and start preparing for an invasion from the mainland which was sure to come if they didn't get their act together before the other kingdoms that were forming after the collapse of the roman empire realized they were too weak and disorganized to fight back.
@AntonioGarcia-jm3hv Welcome to the channel! Happy to have you. Thank you so much for liking and subscribing. Very interesting take. That would be an awesome movie plot. The collapse of the Roman Empire would definitely have left a power vacuum, and your idea makes so much sense in that context. Thanks again for the support!✨
Merlin might have well understood that the "liberty" you think you treasure is but a license to crime. To keep barbarians at bay may mean taking the wolf by its ears, where letting go is fatal.
This was incredibly interesting. Everyone seems to think that Merlin is a myth, I think they’re just crazy. As complex as he is, he’s a human with layers of personality. After all, he was the last Druid to convert to Christianity. So he wasn’t “ ALL “ bad . Just a bit cantankerous.
According to some accounts, Arthur Pendragon was a Briton and a Roman citizen who came to power during the chaos following the Roman withdrawal. Arthur was a means for Merlin to have control and influence. Not much has changed - people still see other people as tools they can wield, with little thought to them as individuals with rights and dreams. This is clearly seen in global politics but also on national and local levels. (Think "Karen" from the HOA.)
I think Geoffery of Monmouth's original Merlin was kind of mentally ill? I believe in Vita Merlini, he was going through PTSD and lived in the forest. He divorced his wife but then murdered her new husband. He was pretty dark in the original legends it seems.

Theirs a different story abount the red drogon and white drogon . Morganna was originally a good guy. But I see the darkside in some of the different storys made. The TV adult series called "Camelot". Shows Merlin in a bit of a dark light. I think their 3 movies based on Mark Twains " Connecticut Yankee in kings Arthur Court". Which Merlin is not a goody. Being British I watch and read alot abount king Arthur and Merlin. But this story is good one to study. 🧙
Yes, a witch/wizard (don't really matter anymore) can have access to "dark spells" and not be "evil." Existence is about balance. Life, death, creation, destruction etc. Humans are capable of kindness and evil too. Without even having magic, we are doing vile things to eachother and the planet... I'm a big fan of the Merlin stories. And ideally yes, we'd like to think he's all "good." But life is balanced after all. He was probably all of those things in one way or another depending on the situation. Just like us! 👍
Yes yes if anyone has watched the merlin movies or any of the older king Arthur movies especially the ones with Sam neill that im pretty sure you got the whole king uther pendragon and vortengr thing from is one of the movies that show the older mystical versions of the tales, and that being said did a dam good job of it though they are older, told the mere truth with of course a bit of exaggerating, was none the less the original version of the story and how people felt in the days of when these stories were told from the beginning. The point of these stories though is to teach that we all have the ability to do evil but have the power to change that and that we have the power to rid ourselves of that evil.
I would say it makes Merlin human. There are many sides to each person- a good side and dark side. It is the ying/yang. One has to make sure one side doesn't become too pronounced so it gets out of balance. Though we do need to explore our dark /shadow side.
There's 2 sides of Merlin being, his known power in sorcery magic and the deeds he commanded to his pawns. Actually both sides Dragons of East and West are slowly acting according to his will, I only need a single sampling each side to know that.
Yes, but what is fate? As a theologian, fate like magic only exists if believed in. The age-old debate of predestination vs. free will, to my knowledge, has never been satisfactorily resolved. Like all mythology, it should be viewed for entertainment or with heavy skeptical analysis. Dragons, shapeshifters, there is no empirical evidence for any of those things. Fun is fun!
I have always loved the stories of king Arthur as well as King Richard Robin Hood Ivanhoe I am sure there lies some truth to these legends these truly were great people eho existed as regarding Arthur it is said he was a warrior who helped the Romans it is said his name was Arthuro ❤ these stories thank you😂
So...Merlin was about to be sacrificed...and he freed dragons to cause chaos and destruction on this evil king? Ooooo. How evil! 😂 And he, being a mentor to Arthur, dared to influence things to make Arthur KING. Oh my. And, being blinded to Morgana and her evil side, teaches her magic. Sounds like Dumbledore to me. 😉
I knew some of this but not all. I'm not surprised though based on what I did know. This is why in the Harry Potter universe Rowling imagined that Merlin had been among the earliest Hogwarts students & was in Slytherin house. 😂 (For those unfamiliar enough with Harry Potter that you don't know the houses the students were sorted into based on personality & morals, Slytherin is the house for those with a thirst for proving themself powerful & smart, but tending to being cunning & selfish with that intelligence. They have a tendency to turn evil as they often deem themselves (or were taught by their parents they are) the best & therefore anything they want should come to be even if they have to use dark magic to achieve it. They especially see themselves as superior to all non-magical humans & also other magical creatures. To use them &/or enslave them is of no consequence. All that matters is the result they want, not the way it was achieved. In fact in their eyes tricking others proves their superiority. They tend to present themselves as upstanding citizens in public but in private they do tons of shady sh*t.)
I kinda despise the Morgan le Fay being Mordred's mother through deliberate incest and deception with her brother Arthur. Especially since Mordred's original mother was actually Morgause. At the same time, I don't mind Arthur and Morgan's relationship becoming incestous if it's written well because I could definitely see things going dark with the two of them... it's interesting I suppose. Lol I guess every medieval fantasy setues got to have some incest lol.
There was royal incest in many old Celtic legends. A recent DNA discovery gives credence to the historic validity of these tales. Bone remains found at the New Grange site proves royal incest. The British equivalent is Stone Henge which crops up repeatedly in Arthurian Tales. Arthur is also said to be the maternal grandson of a fey, fay or fairy and traces of the old triple goddess worship is found in the triplicate of Arthur's sisters.
In the book series mists of Avalon which tells ehy Morgana went to the dark side, part of it was Merlin's manipulation to try to unite the old ways with Christianity. In this one ladt Igraine was in love with another but not married. Merlin told igraine she had no choice but to Marry Uther. Or the greater good would not prevail. After that i couldn't stand Merlin anymore. He used to be my fav. I knew about his dark magic. That wasn't the problem. Its the rape and later manipulation of women.
Here is the thing, In pre-Christion belief systems (They didn't see things in terms of "Black or White, or good or Evil." They believed in intent "If your intent was malevolent "In your own self-interest," then the outcome was bad, if your intent was to help others then it was good.) The concept of good vs evil is a post Catholic belief system.
@petermarchi1935 in your own self interest. There is nothing wrong with that. The key is balance. Marrying a person you love doesn't harm anyone other than people who want to control and manipulate everyone. Control and manipulation is a malevolent self interest.
@Mr.Unbreakable83 In earlier Welsh and Celtic traditions, she’s often referred to simply as Morgan or Morgen, derived from the Welsh word môr (meaning "sea"). This aligns with her possible origins as a sea goddess or figure associated with water and healing. This version appears in early texts like Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Vita Merlini (The Life of Merlin). The name Morgana is more commonly associated with later adaptations, particularly in French romances and modern retellings. It became popularized through works like Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur and subsequent adaptations, where her character is fleshed out as a sorceress and sometimes antagonist.
Ah finally, the people are slowly catching up to the truth . . . Hopefully, this enlightenment extends to the _"final boss-level propaganda"_ that is --- reli

@benjaminbasler5387 Someone who actually gets it! Thank you.😊
We should hold fate over free will
Some of these are from various movies. Merlin was one such movie. Basically with Uther and Arthur and such.
There were five frauds that took merlins name after his supposed imprisonment, according to the authurian lore.
Merlin is a nephilim. The offspring of a fallen angel and a human.
Are incubi nephilim? I thought they were straight up demons.
Those are concepts from ancient near eastern mythology and have nothing directly to do with Northern European lore.
Merlin is more likely an antihero
Merlin is a time traveler hence " he lived his life backwards ".
BRILLIANT!!!
Nice. 👍
Mordrid was Morganas son not Arthur's, Mangana made sure Mordid hated his father.
There are several versions and adaptations of Arthurian Lore.🙂
Merlin resembles the late John Hurt. That's NOT a coincidence.....
Truth indeed.
Fun is fun!
I have always loved the stories of king Arthur as well as King Richard Robin Hood Ivanhoe I am sure there lies some truth to these legends these truly were great people eho existed as regarding Arthur it is said he was a warrior who helped the Romans it is said his name was Arthuro ❤ these stories thank you😂
Merlin still sleeps today, when he awakens the draconian accords will go into effect again enabling dragon kind to become physical beings again.
No, he is incarnated on Earth right now ! He does not sleep :)
Whether demon or angel you can't be so sure after all even you yourselves don't know for sure if you are a demon or a god
You should know.
✔️
Is Murthin the correct spelling because when I look it up it says the Welsh name was Myrddin which is pronounced Mirthin not Murthin.
his my fav in the show merlin
So...Merlin was about to be sacrificed...and he freed dragons to cause chaos and destruction on this evil king? Ooooo. How evil!
😂
And he, being a mentor to Arthur, dared to influence things to make Arthur KING.
(For those unfamiliar enough with Harry Potter that you don't know the houses the students were sorted into based on personality & morals, Slytherin is the house for those with a thirst for proving themself powerful & smart, but tending to being cunning & selfish with that intelligence.
If he was real then given the time period he would've undoubtedly been a pagan shaman of sorts
@heatherturner2366 that's a form of contemporary Paganism
Somebody is letting their feelings show.
Hmmm Lucifer Satan, King Odin of Asgardians, Albert Hall Effect power holder, T and T, he is steps ahead on you in his creeping method.
❤❤❤❤❤
No wonder i I like it . I always iden tify with the villian.
Merlin was half human and half dragon son of the cosmic dragon lord Draconius.

merlin was demon king samael...
Not Morgan its Morgana
@MystikManor my ancestors lived in England during Arthur's time
@@Mr.Unbreakable83 Oh, very cool! Arthurian legend must feel even more special with that kind of connection to your heritage.
🤠👍
How much of the 'dark legends' I'm curious has been 'inspired' by christianity. How much outright lies.
I hv add
Merlin was fiction
