It goes into EV mode on its own. You don’t need to keep hitting the button. When it says eco on the dash it’s EV
@@NothingNew777 when you take off from a red light, it is electric until you get above the eco line. With the EV button pressed, you can accelerate quicker and keep it below the power section up until 25 mph. Then you have to let out of the throttle and keep it below eco to remain in EV.
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS interesting. Seems like a lot to worry about. There is a reason they have it the way they have it.
As a general rule, most hybrids have a very small electric battery and can't run in EV mode for long unless you are city driving to regenerate the battery with stop N go traffic. Even in the city, Toyota and Hyundai hybrids tend to still use the engine in city driving to recharge the battery. The Honda Accord, however, has a slightly different hybrid set-up that you might like. Hondas actually run using the Electric Battery 100% up until 62 MPH, and then the Engine steps in for acceleration. These cars have a separate battery that charges the battery that drives the car which can be regenerated 90% during stop N go city traffic. However, the Honda engine needs to be on a times to re-charge the charging battery, especially when you are on the highway. I am a Toyota Camry owner, but wanted to point out this difference in hybrid technology that some may want to check out. The 'Car Nut Guy' knows a ton about all cars, and he explains it very well.
@@sas9023055 that is definitely interesting.... I love the car and am happy with the choice I made. I just think some things could be done differently... That's all. Lol
I have a 22 RAV4 hybrid SE. it’s not the new Camry but same powertrain. I’m based in SoCal and get average of 30mpg in mixed driving, 26mpg in long drives such as LA-SF or Vegas. If I’m stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, I can get better mpg and I did once like 44mpg when it took me 2.5 hours from Huntington Beach to Irvine. I usually drive 85-90mph on the longer drives and I observe 26mpg per the trip computer. Same drive in friend’s 2020 Camry hybrid xle I get 32-33mpg.
That’s pretty good for a crossover, my 2013 Mazda 3 manual gets 26 city and 32 highway when I drive conservatively
@@bobbob-gi1yp Yeah but you have to understand this is a hybrid rated for 40mpg. If I do flat out it gets 12mpg. I’ve got 15mpg average from Bakersfield to Visalia, pretty much traveling in three digits the whole way.
@Stevenkim9637 sounds like you drive that thing pretty hard. Lol. It'll definitely get worse than what I'm getting as well. When I drive it real hard to get around a group of cars, the fuel mileage goes down fast. Lol
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS yup it’s my daily and it’s a workhorse. It lives a hard life almost to a rental car level I’d say lol
I’m not a Toyota person and it makes a perfect car; IDGAF about this one. Only put 87 octane, park on the driveway not in the garage, never hand wash always machine car wash, and at mall/grocery park closest to the entrance as possible and don’t worry about the door dings. Which are the exact opposite to what I do to the German cars I keep in the garage that I actually care about. The toyota rides like shit, build quality is nonexistent in terms of rattling noise and panel gaps, and won’t win any race, but I put 25-30k miles a year on it and treat it like a rental car with damage waiver and that’s the joy I’d never get to do in the nice cars.
@@stevenkim9637 I love this car, and it is my workhorse at the same time. Lol. Definitely nicest car I've owned as it's my first new car I've ever owned. I've bought 2-3 year old cars back in the day, but they were Grand Ams and an a G6.
Since I'm out doing RideShare with mine on the weekends, it goes through the car wash 3-4 times a week. Not idea, but I can't afford 20 hand washes a month. Lol.
I test drove the xse yesterday and it seemed to ride a bit rougher than the LE and SE I tested. Not sure why just seems it was a bit thirsty. The LE was the smoothest ride so I pulled the trigger on an LE. Can’t wait to hyper mile this thing and get above 60 mpg 😂
Just got my 2025 XSE Toyota Camry color heavy metal! Love traded my 2019 SE I loved that car also!
@@Lisa-pn1eu awesome.... Hope you're loving it so far. 💪
Thanks for great review. I'm in Canada & have an SE AWD on order. Dealer says I might have to wait a year . By then you will have more miles than I will have in my lifetime( I'm 78) as I drive about 6000 miles a year. Glad you are enjoying your car.
Wow... That's crazy. And y'all can't come to America and buy new cars, can you?
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS If we buy in US no warranty. Also reason for wait time I am sure is because we pay less in Canadian pesos than you do.
@@terrymurphy2637 first part makes sense... Second part doesn't as I thought everything up there was more expensive.
Bit better MPG, less road noise and smoother ride due to greater side wall tires and smaller wheels, drivers memory seat, rain sensing wipers is why I will get XLE. By the way, the XLE and XSE both are top trims…with different slant on driver experience. XSE is not an exclusive on being called “top trim”. Have great day
@@jonathanratliff4780 yeah, they just charge more for the XSE. Personally I think the XSE should be priced as cheap as the XLE is. Especially considering it has less features.
my dad brought 2023 RAV4 hybrid xle he drives 800 miles a week for sales he drives conservative ac on 74 1 to 2 bars in Florida he already has 65k miles on the car and his life time miles per gallon is 47 mpg we always hand calculated the gas after each fill up that is what he gets 47 most tanks and over the weekends I drive the car 150 to 200 miles before getting gas for the new week and get consistent 50 mpg hand calculated we keep the car in eco mode 100% of the time take off smoothly and never pass power section when driving from a standstill when cost to stops and are eco with the ac but always comfortable we change the oil every 5k miles at the Toyota dealership and he still has original tires and 60% brakes left on his car Toyota hybrids are great fuel efficient cars and very reliable best little suv we had we love his RAV4 hybrid he drives 40k miles a year will easily get 12 years out of car with proper maintenance and driving it easy love Toyota hybrids
Yeah, it's been miserably hot for the months I've owned it as well. I'm thinking once it cools off some in the next month or two, the fuel mileage will increase.
The car goes into EV mode by itself there is no need to press the button each time you want it to run only on electric
@@Tard129 when you take off from a red light, it is electric until you get above the eco line. With the EV button pressed, you can accelerate quicker and keep it below the power section up until 25 mph. Then you have to let out of the throttle and keep it below eco to remain in EV.
If you have an XSE, it’s 44/44 MPG, you can check the website. It’s probably because of the 19” wheels. So you’re still beating the advertised MPG.
@@TheIKhan that's for the AWD model. Mine is FWD and on Toyota website it's
48c/47h.
So I'm sure it can be done, but it shouldn't be that hard. Especially when SEs easily get better than advertised (which is the same fuel mileage).
Somehow I thought it was the 19' wheel kills a few mpg as well😂@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
@@yw4635 it does.
I completely agree about the Android Auto glitches. When I was connected via bluetooth, I was getting CONSTANT disconnects. I've switched to USB cable and works 95% of the time but still glitches out occasionally
@@bboehm yeah.... It's so frustrating.
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS i seem to have the same issues with Carplay. It works when it wants to and then decides to stop and I have to power cycle my phone to make it work again.
I enjoyed my 18 XSE V6. Would definitely buy another with a V6 😎👍
I can’t do hybrids 🐢
@@PLATINUM2U I mean, if I never owned anything fast, I probably would think the same way. Lol. The v6 cars aren't fast. If I wanted a fast car, I wouldn't buy a Camry.
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUStrue
I like petro car
I wish the head unit when using the factory toyota map would split screen, so you can change the media settings a lot easier.
Oh yeah, totally agree. If I had 6 like I did on things I like, that would probably be a thing I don't like. Lol.
The Auto Hold is very important to me. My last 3 cars have had it, and my current car does as well, a 2024 Hyundai Sonata N-Line. My auto hold stays on until it's turned off from the button on the console. What you said about your Camry, regarding the auto hold, that would drive me nuts. Are sure about that, it just seems very odd to me Toyota would make it work the way you explained.
I'm not sure... Maybe you misunderstood me. But I think they work the same as I drove a Kia a few months back with it.
Once it's on, it stays on until I put it in park. As long as I have it in gear, I never have to turn it on again.
Driving conservatively, I've gotten 52 to 54 MPG on my last two trips (according to the car's readout) SE AWD.
@@bboehm yeah... The other trims seem to beat their numbers. But every XSE Owner complains about low fuel economy. I think they advertised it as being the same when it's not.
In Australia, I was told this car might not land here until 2026. Geez i hate Australia. We get everything late and yet we still pay top dollar.
@@HighValueMan24 time to move to America. You can have a Camry and guns😁💪
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS agreed mate! Screw Australia lol
You said you were looking into tires . How far have you gotten? Two blowouts it’s pretty scary.😮😢😢
Would like Memory seats/mirrors included in Convenience package on ALL trims in 2026 Camry. Helpful review!
@@gilbrook maybe they'll add it for future cars. 🤷🤣
Didn’t these just come out?
@@atlasforge6524 yes... I got the first one at my dealer and bought it before they hit the lot. April 30th.
@@atlasforge6524 yes... I got the first one at my dealer and bought it before they hit the lot. April 30th.
Have you done any transmission services?
Not yet.... 20k miles isn't needed yet. Car Care Nut says it'll need it at 50k miles. So still got another 4-5 months before that comes up.
stop touching ev mode and do another mpg test, it'll go up
Have you noticed a speed difference from what’s displayed on the dash I compared it to my speed on my app on my phone and I get a 2 mile difference from what’s displayed on the dash and every time I set the control as well seems to go just a mile below Say I said it at 60 and then I’ll be driving at 59 Hong Cruise
@@blkdb840 yes.... That's a Toyota thing. They're all that way. The 2014 Corolla I drove before was exactly the same way.
Have HOPE about your gas mileage!! Another UA-cam site tried to get the best mileage they could get,... and they ACTUALLY went ABOVE the posted expected mileage!! How was that possible?...Well, he did something that I never heard of, but his philosophy was to drive his XSE using the "Pulse and Glide" mode. Then after 180 miles travel, the MPG calculation that the car computed, and was displayed was about 44 miles per gallon. THEN HE FILLED HIS GAS TANK! When he did so, he found that when he used the actual amount of pumped gas,.. divided into the 180 miles driven,... he ACTUALLY GOT 51 miles per gallon in reality!! SO TRY THAT to find your TRUE mileage! I hope that trick better helps your expected mileage-outlook!! GREAT VIDEO!.. Take care!
Yeah... I saw that video. I think he miscalculated it. I also drive that way as well and that's when I've gotten my best fuel mileage.
In my 40 or so tanks of fuel, not ever one time has it ever been lower than the actual calculated fuel mileage. It's almost always 1.5-2mpg higher than actual.
Appreciate the support and hope you continue watching future videos.
It's exciting for me to see you discover the Toyota hybrid. You're spot on with the mileage thing. you definitely have to drive slower than you'd like both in acceleration and top speed to get the best fuel economy. When i just got mine it was like a game for me to look at the dash and see something like 65mpg.. and it's definitely possible but the other motorists will probably poison your coffee at Starbucks. Or shank you at a gas station. Also wheels and tires definitely are the difference with the extra mileage on the LE. I've added aftermarket wheels to most of my cars regardless of hybrid and the fuel economy takes a hit everytime. More unsprung weight, less aerodynamics because of the wider tires and sometimes the larger wheels will raise the ride hight a bit.. Which also gives wrist fuel efficiency. Cheers mate. I enjoy your vids
@@JamaicanMeCrazy see... This is the info I need and want to get out there. Most people think it's a big mystery, or they say it's the weight of the car that makes a difference.
So why do the 2-4th trims have the same fuel economy but 1st gets great fuel economy?
Then once you start asking people, LE gets better than advertised, and the others can, with soft driving. Then the XSE takes every thing perfect to maybe get the advertised numbers.
Toyota should just advertise the XSE as 40MPG. and when people get better then they're happier.
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS if you were to get smaller wheels and narrower tires you're very likely to get better fuel economy and there the added bonus of a more comfortable ride if the new wheel diameter is the same but with more additional side wall or (meat in the tires). The previous Gen Camry had 16" tires if you were to for example go that route you'd get way better fuel economy better comfort. (It might feel like a Lexus to you) But it will look like doodoo😂
@@JamaicanMeCrazy yeah, I've seen the LEs. The wheels look out of place on them.
I'll likely get some light 18s and go 215/50/18s. Something light and with skinny low rolling resistance tires.
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS perfect
I feel that I’m going to rear end everyone, the brakes are way too spongy and disconnected.
Change tires and rims to 17 inch 215 45 17 or something put light rims and you gonna get 48 mpg easy
That's the goal... But with 18s
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS18 is the best balance of look and performance 😂 I'm even ok with 16'(interesting to break records of mpgs) but I really want the 235 width.
lol I have been waiting for 2 months for my 25' Camry to arrive this week. How on earth you can put 20k mile on it already 😂😂😂😂
@@VidOfFriend 21,646 currently 😂😂
I did have the very first one sold. Lol. But I do RideShare with it, so I do tons of driving.
Too bad you have to get a sunroof for the better jbl sound system in the SE.
@@BrianNC81 yeah.... The packages are cool for people who want all that stuff... But it would be nice to have some without it as well. Of course, they get to charge more when you get a sunroof and when they make packages only one way, then they get to charge you double for the one thing you wanted.
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS it would be more of a reliability plus not having one (one less thing to cause an issue later). All 3 of our vehicles have sunroof and almost never used them.
@@BrianNC81 I do wish I knew how often they have issues. I wonder if it's a lot, or not so much, but it's outrageously expensive when it does happen and no one wants to pay for it.
I know the Pano roof mine has is like $10k to replace.
Having owned a '23 Camry XSE V6, this new refresh (this is a poor excuse for a "new gen"), the XSE trim should be removed. That anemic power train is a joke. Let me remind those of you that don't know: XSE = Extreme Sport Edition. Tell me, what's extreme about going from 301hp to 232. Toyota WAS going in an exciting direction. Now it's back to getting fiber at the grocery store on the way to BINGO. SHAME
@@jahmanborneo1343 well, I don't disagree it's not Extreme, but neither is the v6 Camry. If I wanted an extreme car, I wouldn't buy a Camry and think it's extreme. I'd buy Camaro, and if I want stupid fast, I'll just go hop on my built Hayabusa that will outrun any car from the factory.
These cars also came out 6 months earlier than most cars do for the next model year. While this is the only engine combo you can currently get, nothing is stopping them from putting out something better for 2026 or later. They could probably also do the HybridMAX like the Crown Platinum has. That'll bump it up another 80 HP and tons more torque. If they could mate it with the eCVT and it hold up, that would be even better.
Using it like it should. As for ev mode. If that's what you want go get a Toyota prime model.
@@JamaicanMeCrazy what do you mean? What do they do differently?
@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS I've driven Toyota hybrids for yeeeeeeaaaars that ev mode button disappoints every single person that tries it because it's a gimmick to make you think like you have an EV car... It's more than a gimmick actually it's a straight up lie. It's only good for maybe creeping out of the neighborhood or sneaking home if you don't want anyone to hear.. actually most of the time in the mornings the engine kicks in anyway so not even that. But Toyota also has plug in hybrid models (not for the Camry) like the Prius prime and Rav 4 prime that actually has a usable EV mode. Something like maybe 40 miles and you'll can get up to highway speeds. The engine won't kick in at all. What you think your ev mode does is what the prime cars actually do. You'll have to charge it though (like an EV. The prime has a bigger battery than the car but much much much smaller than a full EV
@@JamaicanMeCrazy gotcha.... Yeah I get that it can't run on it forever.... It's just the fact that it turns off at a set mph and doesn't automatically come back on when you get below that mph.
Why not just let it always be ready to go, and stay in EV mode if the batteries are charged and it's not in the power portion of throttle position.
Well not ya shoulda baught ye self a merican pick up truck- nuff space for yer gunz and cow manure and Confed rite flagz
