It's so beautiful that Billy Joe's mother gave him a guitar when she saw his talents, most parents try to discourage their children when they tend to the musician side, but she not only encouraged him, she being a widow with a big family to take care of, turned herself inside out, bought him Blue and gave him support in his dreams. And now he's the head of most people's favorite band, including me
I have a big piece of the stickers from Blue. The stickers can be seen in a ton of promos, videos and live footage from mostly around the Nimrod days. They must have been peeling off or something because Billie ripped em off during a sound check in San Diego during the Warning tour, I grabbed the pieces and I've held onto them ever since....Its most of the Criminals skull sticker and some of The Queers All Stars sticker with a fat stack of stickers behind them. Kinda weird...Not something I could prove but I know what they are so it's kind of cool I think.
You forgot Buckethead’s. He made his guitar in a chicken coop at Bucketheadland. It was made of headcheese and fried chicken, and with it Buckethead is practically invincible.
That whole album is just phenomenal. I generally don't like Strats, and relicced guitars, but one of the Fender Custom shop Rory strats just came in to a local shop. $6000cad, but I'm very tempted to buy it. My dad was a huge Rory fan, and had a picture of him with Rory and that strat when they were about 20. He passed away in 2018 and I never got to ask him about that photo, sadly.
I love that you included The Log in your video! I've long held a great deal of admiration for Les Paul, both as a musician and an inventor. I own the rejected Gibson Les Paul, the one he didn't like. They're now called Gibson SG and I prefer it to the heavier GLP model. What gets me about Mr. Paul is that his career nearly ended in a car crash when his right arm was shattered. Faced with possible amputation, he asked the doctors to set his arm and elbow at the angle which would allow him to keep playing to see if it would heal. His arm was set at that angle for the rest of his long life, but he was able to keep playing. Ranks right up there with Django Reinhardt and Tony Iommi if you ask me, which you didn't!
Totally Liam....Speaking of Liam, how about Noel Gallaghers Union Jack semi hollow if were talking about iconic......Tom Morellos custom Arm The Homeless or some big ones would be Willie Nelson's "Trigger" and I am shocked that Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstein or 5150 isn't on here...I mean come on. He some what recently got it back and actually recorded a new Pumpkins record with it after so many years...pretty cool story.

I was lucky enough to try and five neck guitar (not that exact model) at a producer's house. I didn't really know where to start, and I could only play it for a few minutes, as it was about as heavy as you'd expect five guitars around your neck to be. They also have one for sale at a store near London's Denmark Street.
I actually have the same make, model, and year of Billy-Joe Armstrong’s “Blue” the only sad part is it’s red, it hasn’t been through near as much as his and is still all 100% original (paint, bridge, saddles, everything) but it’s still awesome and can actually get REALLY close to sounding exactly like “Dookie” wit only a fender mustang 2 with very basic amp settings.
Theres not alot of story behind the jag. The jagstang might have a little bit more of a story. He wrote the story of how he got his first true blue mustang from a bunch of guys who thought it sucked compared to their new metalasfuck kramer guitars and he was able to lowball them down to under $100 for it. People allege its his blue stripe one seen in the teen spirit video that he didnt use live much at first

All the other ones were practically on death row
Gallagher’s aged strat is because of his unusual blood type, making his sweat incredibly acidic. A modern polyester finish would not have been effected by his sweat.
@ThatsRaidillonActually ummm, have you seen his strat? There is no way all of that was caused by his arm. There is virtually no finish left on it. I know this from one of the first guitar books I read it may be wrong but it adds up.

Honestly, I'd say you should have mentioned Randy Rhoads' original Jackson Concorde. That guitar is where the "pure heavy metal guitar" all started. Which had black tape on the back, because Sharon didn't want Randy standing out from Ozzy, between songs(Randy being equally the star Ozzy was to begin with). Making Randy have to flip his guitar around between songs so eyes stayed on Ozzy. This, as well as issues getting past the 15th fret lead to the redesign, to a slicker design, with a higher up cutaway, and this time in black, as a compromise for the stage(he prefered white guitars). That is how Jackson guitars started.
I also wanted SRV's number one, that thing has some stories to tell. PS to anyone who is looking at this and thinking "SRV better than van halen" is a stupid thing to say, look past stevies most popular hits/ videos and see his expansive musical background deep with blues/jazz history. An interesting guitar player who only would've gotten better with age :( (to be honest I don't think it's a fair comparison to compare a metal guitarist to a blues guitarist).
I bought my 1st strat in the same music shop that Rory bought his in 1963, it's closed now I think a coffee and muffin shop. I saw the original in that shop on display a few years back when fender remade it... Super cool.
I actually saw the log in person last year at the country music hall of fame. It's actually a lot nicer than you'd expect for something made out of a 2X4
Listening to the Cheap Trick segment, I remembered the two contraptions that Steve Howe of YES had. One of them WAS that "roulette wheel" idea, like a starfish or something? It rotated in the center. And I also saw them once where he had a bunch of guitars in like a Gatling gun arrangement? Like a cylinder, with all the necks pointing the same way... like if you _melted_ Rick Neilson's 5-neck, and wrapped it around a garbage can till it cooled off and "set....." if you know what I mean. Send me a few million dollars and I will be happy to BUILD this shit...
the buddy blaze guitars are the new generation kramer nighswans in higher quality, i talked with buddy and he told me that the lightning graphics originally was designed for vivian campbell and dimebag was a secondary graphics. The original was for kramer nightswans back in the 80s
Hey samuraiguitarist I really like these guitar history videos that you do and I was wondering if you could do something where we the subscribers can submit pictures of our custom guitars and maybe tell you about them.
Ok so the log was NOT the first solid body guitar. The first solid body electric guitar was custom built by Paul Bigsby for guitarist Merle Travis. Travis is the one who actually came up with the DESIGN of this guitar, Bigsby was just the one crazy enough at the time to build it for him (prior to the late 40s and early 50s basically, a guitar made out of a solid piece of wood with no "acoustic guitar-like" qualities was just seen as silly and would likely earn scoffs from musicians and luthiers everywhere). This guitar is often erroneously referred to as "The Merle Travis Fender", however Fender as a company didn't even exist at that time nor did Fender himself have absolutely anything to do with the design or concept of the guitar. However, the design of this guitar was later sold to non-musician and entrepreneur Leo Fender, who used this design and his knack for business to found what may be the most recognizable electric guitar brand on earth. Yes that's right. Fun fact of the day. Leo Fender was not actually a musician or even a guitar/music enthusiast. He simply had a brain for business and saw an opportunity to capitalize on a brand new market. Also, Les Paul had almost nothing to do with what we all recognize as the guitar bearing his namesake. In fact, he parted ways with Gibson MANY years before his actual retirement and eventual death. He actually couldn't stand the design or sound of the Gibson Les Paul (and I don't blame him because I can see why). Even when Les Paul WAS involved with Gibson, he was basically nothing more than a design consultant who in most cases didn't even see his ideas come to fruition. Why? Because Les Paul was all about creating a new instrument of good quality, and Gibson was all about saving money and cutting corners. For example, Les Paul also designed the Gibson SG during his tenure there. He designed with a neck-through construction, so the high-register access neck would still retain its ease of access and playability without sacrificing any stability. Well, Gibson thought that wasn't cost effective so they scrapped that idea and decided to go the simplest and least expensive route of an inferior set neck construction. Only problem is that they didn't change anything else in the design, and the neck is glued in with nothing more than a sad excuse of a stub adhered into an extremely shallow cavity. Sure the SG turned out to be a hit and become fairly iconic, but just as famous if not more so than the guitar itself are their notorious issues with tuning stability and neck warp, as well as the identical problem to their cousin the Les Paul with neck breakage. Fortunately Gibson seems to have run their course and their probably gonna be bankrupt by the end of this year. At last we will rid ourselves of the lawsuit crazy ass clowns. At last we will have revenge. Anyway dude a lot of the info you had in the bit about The Log is wrong. In some cases like more than a little. I actually live in Wisconsin and at one point lived in Waukesha for about 3 years, not 3 minutes from where Les Paul lived and designed/built that guitar. I had the oppurtunity to meet him once a couple years before he passed away, and let me tell you..... His personal accounts and the commonly shared stories of his life, career, and exploits are almost nothing alike. The stories we hear about him are mild alterations or simple error at best if not flat out fabrications and lies at worst. I've learned over the years since the dawn of the internet and digital age that "When it comes to the personal life and career of any public figure or person of interest, reading any information on Wikipedia probably means you should get a second, third, fourth, and possibly a fifth and sixth opinion. If getting all those from the internet, you'll probably get six completely different bits of information with maybe half of them or less being based in reality but still not 100% truth."

Where’s SRV’s #1?
Bass Plays Guitar or the black Strat David Gilmour plays
Bass Plays Guitar BTW I think Stevie Ray Vaughan was a way better guitar player than Eddie Van Halen
owen mccormick
I really do like EVH but I do agree that SRV is better
I also wanted SRV's number one, that thing has some stories to tell. PS to anyone who is looking at this and thinking "SRV better than van halen" is a stupid thing to say, look past stevies most popular hits/ videos and see his expansive musical background deep with blues/jazz history. An interesting guitar player who only would've gotten better with age :(
(to be honest I don't think it's a fair comparison to compare a metal guitarist to a blues guitarist).
The black strat got sold yesterday
yay he finally did another one of the 6 guitar stories
I fuckin love Rory!!!!!!!!
Sticks greenday & Monster stickers on his harley benton once: "yeah, i've been playing it all my life, this guitar has a story"
I bought my 1st strat in the same music shop that Rory bought his in 1963, it's closed now I think a coffee and muffin shop. I saw the original in that shop on display a few years back when fender remade it... Super cool.
can you do your top 10 queen songs?
I actually saw the log in person last year at the country music hall of fame. It's actually a lot nicer than you'd expect for something made out of a 2X4
Blueeee
FYI: Hamer is not pronounced "Hammer," but rhymes with "Kramer."
It wasn't all natural wear on Rory's Strat, he did pick some of it off over the years.
Jerry Garcia's Tiger
£100 in the early 60s is roughly £2,109.81 in today’s cash. That’s $3649.61 in Canadian dollars so that’s a shitload of money back than.
‘Samurai guitarist’ more like ‘the best UA-camr in history who is also a samurai and a guitarist’
Peter Green’s signature Les Paul. Which of course became Gary Moore’s signature Les Paul years later!
No peter green/gary moore les paul? No clapton's blackie? What the fvck is this list!?
The original was for kramer nightswans back in the 80s
it would be nice to see the featured guitar for more than 1.3 seconds !
Hey samuraiguitarist I really like these guitar history videos that you do and I was wondering if you could do something where we the subscribers can submit pictures of our custom guitars and maybe tell you about them.
so coool man thanks for making 2 !!!!! make more !!!
Why Kurt Cobain Signature Guitar not on the list !! ??
Kurt Cobain mustang 69
this is my new favourite channel
Ted McCarty designed the Les Paul guitar, Les was a compensated endorser.
The Joe Perry/Slash story is my favorite. Real homie hours.
I used the website off the Les Paul foundation website www.les-paul.com/timeline/red-hot-red/ seemed like the best source available
Rory!!!!!!!!!!
Nigga you ain't aged. Loved you in the 70's Super Friends cartoon.
My grandpa is actually the guy that painted the original dimebag blue lightning guitar
