The thing about grip versus drift is that grip will always be faster so long as there's traction. In dirt racing and in traction-compromised situations, drifting can be faster, but only if you control the angle and aren't really throwing the back end out. They are completely different styles of driving, where one is optimized to go the fastest in ideal conditions, while the other assumes poor conditions. Basically if you know you don't have the grip, you can put the car into a four-wheel drift with your car angled towards the corner exit so you regain grip right as you are facing the direction for ideal acceleration out of the corner. The difficult part would be keeping the back from swinging too far where you would have to fishtail/overcorrect at the corner exit. Look at how WRC drivers turn in dirt for a good idea of what I'm talking about.

Drift allows higher speed entries, the only thing to worry about is the exit where grip usually catches up, but all you need to do with that is just learn where you and your cars limits are and drive on those limits 24/7, which will make you much faster
Also to everyone; It’s helpful to remember that some situations/surfaces are just too sticky for this, like in a hot summer day, or even when using slicks, or go karting for instance. my opinion on drift vs grip: on a perfectly paved race track on good conditions, grip will always be faster than drift unless we're talking about extremely tight hairpin turns in this video, because of the rain, trying to maintain grip is more difficult than just letting the car slide and controlling the oversteer , so the grip driver is more careful, he's purposely leaving a margin of error and ends up being slow enough for the drift driver to keep up what makes drift driving slower is that it's main benefit is faster corner entry, but grip has the better exit, the exit is usually more important, you'll see the drift z get bumper to bumper with the grip z but by the exit the grip z has created a gap the other problem with drifting is tire wear, on a long enough track continuously drifting with eat away at your tires

That red Z was taking a horrible line. That being said, Drift Z was awesome. It stayed super close and had clear advantages on some corners. If this was down hill that Red Z woulda got smoked.
The whole Drift vs. Grip really depends on how good the driver is and how ideal his racing line is. - For a drift driver, less counter-steering is better and faster, it also helps the tires. - For a grip driver (and a drift driver to an extent), less time turning leads to a better exit out of the corner, using a squarer racing line, the *ideal* racing line, hitting the apexes quite late. However *in the long run a drift driver would lose anyway* since their tires would overheat faster due to the excessive sliding and leads to heavy tire wear, *drifting is only useful on touge driving where "laps" are very rarely heard of* Being on the boundary of gripping and drifting is the ideal way of driving, in my opinion, driving the car at it's absolute limit both in it's grip and performance. Anyway that's about as nerdy as I can get.
This one flew right over my head. Way too realistic. I thought it was real the first time i watched it, especially due to the raindrops on the windshield that moved from the wipers.
Excellent video! I guess what's left in the AC visual upgrades is foliage quality: grass, trees, etc. etc. The game looks stunning in pretty much anything else now. Not sure about track's detail meshes and stuff, but if you ask me it's the foliage that sticks out the most, simply because trees and other greenery objects take more space compared to smaller stationary track detail meshes.

@@frankthetankmusic it's not only that. Its things like the shakeing of the car when hes accelerating, the blur, the ambient occlusion, rain and of course the overcast sky
@@martibulgaria Sadly, the audio is the weakest point. It lacks a lot of early reflections, distance delaying and mostly dynamic. It can be done in post tho, and I would love to do that sooner or later just to prove my point.
Definitely one of the best things I have seen on my fyp.
And HOT DAMN the I can't believe I'm saying this but the fucking WATER DROPLETS ARE THE ONE THING THAT BLEW ME AWAY
However *in the long run a drift driver would lose anyway* since their tires would overheat faster due to the excessive sliding and leads to heavy tire wear, *drifting is only useful on touge driving where "laps" are very rarely heard of*
Being on the boundary of gripping and drifting is the ideal way of driving, in my opinion, driving the car at it's absolute limit both in it's grip and performance. Anyway that's about as nerdy as I can get.
not really ask any simracers with an extensive historic racing background (same skillsets afterall) theyll say both

this gotta be the most realistic unreal thing ive seen in my life
This one flew right over my head. Way too realistic. I thought it was real the first time i watched it, especially due to the raindrops on the windshield that moved from the wipers.
How's it so sharp? More than just 60fps for sure
