And why is the bass player grinning all over his face? Because he knows that he is in the presence of greatness. Here is a gentleman who exudes the sheer joy of playing. What a groovemeister.
His outstanding sense of harmony puts him in a different league, along with the greatest jazz-players and gospel guitarists, well beyond the myriad of pentatonic players
Eric's innovative style still shines through his Fender amp that seems to be in need of service. Could be a number of issues, but that hum and noise from the amp did not stop this genius from providing an inspirational performance!
He was sitting right in front of it- position 2 or 4 on the Strat's 5 way switch would have silenced it- but in fact, I thought, at times, it was a cool effect having it provide white noise between his notes! 60 cycle hum squad!!
Damn, this guy gets dangerous over a vamp, doesn't he? The Hendrix comparisons may be facile, but they're appropriate: Like Jimi, Gales displays an irrepressible creative curiosity that simply overwhelms whatever song is being played. It's a wonderful thing to see, and more than a little intimidating.
Don't know how your statement could have been expressed any better. Your use of language is also rather intimidating!! LOL But joking aside, I couldn't agree more with your assessment!
In a way, it seems, that Eric being a Blues guitarist is and probably will be, an under appreciated and under rated Virtuoso. Just like it allways has been, well mostly any way. He will become better, if that is possible. This man is , yes, IS the best, new blues, psykedelick blues, hard rock blues player on Earth. Peace.
johnnyBgood I know that blues is at the root of his playing, but he impresses me as the type of guitarist who can play pretty much whatever he hears in his head, and he's not one of these guys who play riffs like they're on auto-pilot - it just flows out of him; he's the real deal and that's what sets him apart.
Somebody please explain to me why Eric Gales is not headlining at The Newport Jazz Festival this coming weekend. I mean seriously WTF??? I wanna hear Eric Gales' take of Cantaloupe Island or maybe Third Wind - the versions that were done in Japan in the early 90's by Hancock,Shorter,Clarke and Hakim and by Pat Metheny's Group at the Under The Sky Festival. Can you imagine for a moment in the current volatile climate an Eric Gale version of "Endangered Species"?!?
man when are you coming to sacramento your band members are solid too man your murdering cats my bro put me up on your album years back picture of thousand faces cold blooded one of my favorites besides steve vai an bobby g but your in there you also did something 4 a rapper named tela an i cant find the song keep make in good music
Glad to see he survived our f'd up prison system just because he got caught with weed. Loved his music since his first album at 16 yr old. That style/sound is a favorite of mine. Like Jon Butcher and Otis Watkins. Watkins called it "White boy blues" though he's the only white boy in this crowd. :) All are worth hearing!
one of the riffs is very similar to "Tush" by ZZ-Top. This guy got inspired by so many and so much. There is Alan Holdsworth as well as Freddy King and of course SRV and Jimi as well as Satriani...God almighty this guy sucked it all up at very early age. What a blessing!
This man is truly one of the greatest musicians that has ever graced the earth!!!!!

Had the pleasure of meeting Eric and seeing him stand in during a benefit show at The Blind Tiger. FASCINATING GUITAR!
Greatest guitarist alive! I've seen him a bunch and can't believe what I'm seeing and hearing, always blows my mind...Thanx Eric!

Well said

To time the phaser like that I'd just another facet of beauty. Love Love!!!
Is just another.... not I'd.
Great! Sea of emotions!
Don't know what it is, but many times I start tearing up listening to his chord voicings! (Hope I'm not alone in that)!

This guy should be a hell of a lot more well-known than he is.
In a way, it seems, that Eric being a Blues guitarist is and probably will be, an under appreciated and under rated Virtuoso. Just like it allways has been, well mostly any way.

You said it!!! His tone has blown me away from the first!!!!!
What amp is he playing through??? Is it a bandmaster? If it is, is it a vintage cause I haven’t heard of a new bandmaster reissue.
Eric gales is the one who beat the devil in a fiddle contest.

Actually isn't the riff to which you refer actually La Grange instead of Tush?
Awesome
Love it
Makes it easy for the bass and drummer to keep up with

What amp is he playing through? Bandmaster? Would it be a vintage cause I don’t think there is a reissue out there.
Holy shit! lol and he ends it with a super mario lick lol
Com mil caraios!!!!!!
I'd rather hear Eric mess around than hear Joe put on a performance!
Not to take away from Joe, but your statement made me bust out laughing!!! I feel ya! LOL
I'm assuming you meant Bonamassa? right?
manda muito bem legal

@5.40 checking the time during the solo
Yep -seen him a few times. He often has to catch a flight to go to "the next place".
უბრალოდ ატრაკებენ

He's better than "Guitar George" who knows all the chords! But he still wants to make it cry and sing!!! LOL
Бля обожаю негров
Should've stopped and sorted out that mains buzz.
