This podcast is amazing, I love it, Dulcé is kickass and Josh is the cutest human alive. I actually laughed out loud at work too many times. "Sounds like a GED getting thrown down a hallway of a juvenile detention center" is just *chef's kiss* level humor.
Dulce's 15 second laugh starting at 27:07 is giving me life. The fact she had to breathe in the middle just to laugh more is incredible. That's DEDICATION to the laughter.
On this topic, I think the best solution is a digesting everything moderation. In high school, all I listened to J. Cole, Nas, Eminem, Common, Tupac - majority conscious lyricists. Condemning trap and mainstream music as I felt it ruined the art of rap. As I grew up though, I started appreciating the balance club bangers bring. In fact it's within the trap music, gangster rap and club bangers where one gets a more complete picture as the variations of tones and speech just feels in the blanks conscious rap commonly misses. In all, there's no better side of hip-hop. Both sides are valuable in the betterment and development of the black diaspora.
Hold up, wait a minute, ok, I love this podcast! The chemistry between Dulce and Josh is amazing. I can see y'all in the office going at it. The topic was engaging and the humor was beautiful. The show was a socially conscience banger. Keep them comin' y'all, can't wait for the next one.
Dolce: I don’t wanna hear about your communities problems! We all got problems Also Dolce: how do you not know what’s goin on in other communities?! 😜😂😂 love ya! This is a great series!
Had to leave another comment to say thank you. After the SCOTUS decision today, I needed a dose of joy and this was just it. Josh is such a hidden gem in this show, and those these podcasts are showcasing that, his takes on lil Wayne and Dulce's song choice were golden and so perfectly crafted.
I agree that you hold onto the music you listened to as a teenager because you were mature enough to pay attention to the words of the songs. It also has to do with what your parents listened to around you as well. Marvin Gaye, Frankie Beverley and Maze, Luther Vandrouss, Prince and Michael Jackson (young and old) all had conscious and dance music. No one is just one way. Music is a way to express how you feel at that moment. As feelings change, so does the music you currently listen to IN THAT MOMENT!
I grew up in the 80s so I like many forms of rap from KRS 1 and EPMD to Big Daddy Kane and MC Lyte to 2Pac and Outkast ( Operating Under The Krooked American System Too long) and Luke Skywalker ( Freaknic music king) to Lil Jon to Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole to Da Brat and KAAN to Logic and Cam' Ron and Wu Tang Clan and Lil Wayne to UGK and Digital Underground.
Two generations of awakening, reflecting, reprogramming and teaching. It's not the music. It is the reinforcement and programming to those who can't look at the music as entertainment consciously and subconsciously.
I like caribbean club stuff & I'm into the caribbean vibes, but I can only do so much conscience reggae. I feel like conscience music of all genres is the favorite of people who can't dance. Dancing people like dance music. Carnival is my celebration and coming together with my fam. I'm way out where I don't really know what mainland music is popular or why. Its almost nice to be oblivious to plenty of the popular artists of the major and minor cultures on the mainland. I support unions everywhere. The best way to get power to the people is by democratizing the workplace by unionizing so that every worker can have a say and representation in their worklife.
2 things 1) thanks for shouting out unions and building workplace power as key to democratization. 2) I feel both seen and called out by your observation that conscious music is for people who can't dance :-)
I've always liked Dulce but could not figure out why but this podcast kinda magnifys why. This podcast represents me in a lot of ways. I'm Josh on half of the days and Dulce the other 😆
I get her point same thing here don't want to hear about world problems too much. sort of an escapism. But what if the conscious rap is actually trying to put positivity though?
I am for the innocence project documentary. Problem is the project is only successful because they move like ninjas. You (at least me) never hear about them trying to get people released it’s always promoted after they are successful.
So glad we still have ppl like this. This is how you chop it up a homie. 👍🏾 Brilliant show and hilarious. Got me talking to the screen and laughing out loud. 🤣🤣
I am disabled and was blind to so much because of the things going on. When I got back to Alaska and became living with my best friend from high school, coupled with the proper medicine for my mental health, You are a beautiful woman with a lot of important things to share with this twisted world. Thank you, Again
Its great to see and hear Josh. Didn't know he was with the Daily Show congrats My favorite part was "GED thrown down the hall of a juvenile detention center" 😂🤣 Loved this great work Dulce and Josh!
As a black woman "hold up" is the same as "wait" or "listen" a story is about to be told or some tea 😂depending on what we're talking about so no need to explain or change name!
Another perfect example of what he's talking about the other few weeks ago I was in a taxi and I think there was listening to doja cat and they played need to know and I love the song I loved it it was amazing it was a bop but then when I sat down to actually listen to the lyrics I was like "yeah she was talking about that desperation for it"
I am glad that she addressed this so they asked if she knows lizzo I was literally just like some of them even say they sound similar. NO not in the slightest
Lupe Fiasco - DRILL MUSIC IN ZION Just released. If you're about real Hip Hop then this is the only thing you're listening to today. #BestRapperAlive #GreatestOfAllTime
I prefer bops because I generally barely care about the lyrics. As for fame, you can be name-famous or face-famous, and they don't necessarily go together. Loretta Devine is face-famous (and Black-famous).
Lol, she should listen to Lupe Fiasco. His wordsmith game is on another level. Open up your mind, you'll find some peace. They could improve this discussion with examples and maybe put some of the lyrics on the screen. Seems that both hosts would benefit from a diverse playlist of rap forms.
Facts couldn't agree more he really does sound like six babys possessed by one baby talking at the same time. I literally just singing transform ya exactly like he did and I was like "Shiiiiiiiiddddd he's right"
I love her opinion on Kendrick that's hilarious. You think I would be offended but I'm actually not because even when he goes high-pitched yeah that does kind of sound like something you'd hear from a puppet. But he just does it in such a way that it's not really something you can't take seriously though. So I would have rolled with that in Josh's position like okay I see what you mean but at least he makes you take what he's saying seriously even in that different voice and registers
Thankfully I'm an eclectic person I listen to all different genres I've heard afrobeats I heard hip hop I've heard r&b i have heard pop I have heard soul I heard jazz I have heard classic I've heard ballads. My playlist doesn't reflect that fully cuz it is mostly rap but there are some pop songs there and there are some r&b and some other things but it's not that much
I can relate to Josh's personality I'm like that too. I read a lot I'm not really that into partying but I'm starting to give it a chance, I don't drink, where I'm from the mushing of butts together it's not exactly that but we call it whining I don't do that. Despite my extroverted nature I don't always go to parties and stuff
I BIG loved both y'all individually but this 👆🏼 THIS?! Y'all together?! Magic. I'm hooked. ❤️ Plz don't change it or stop making them. Y'all plz plz plz 🙏 keep arguing and cracking on one another for the rest of time.
Both. There are multiple types of screwdriver Standard and Philips are the standard. I can't choose your favorite because both have their own place in the music industry. IMO. 😉
i love you guys. I appreciate the work you do OFF camera as well. this is podcast inspiration for my small show. Josh also needs a bit of floss there is something in his teeth other than that you both are perfect.
Josh I love your reticent intelligence. The fact that you sound like you have a head cold constantly, and Dulce’ is raucous and so clinically astute🤔such a balance! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
some conscious hip hop you can dance to is dope tho... and come on Josh? its obvious you have every conscious rapper's album ever... Josh signs his emails with Talib lyrics... jk Josh is great!
This podcast is amazing, I love it, Dulcé is kickass and Josh is the cutest human alive. I actually laughed out loud at work too many times. "Sounds like a GED getting thrown down a hallway of a juvenile detention center" is just *chef's kiss* level humor.
Me: At My desk laughing and Your comment just added to it! Sending You more love and light!
Sammie 👋
Best line ever. 😂
@@TheAvandriaSeries 👋
I actually did literally laugh out loud at that one. Dark humor for a teacher but he has a point and made it so well
"A milkshake washes off, bunions don't"
This is a quote of the decade
Dulce's 15 second laugh starting at 27:07 is giving me life. The fact she had to breathe in the middle just to laugh more is incredible. That's DEDICATION to the laughter.
"Lil Wayne sounds like 6 babies that got possessed by one big baby all talking at the same time."
"Accurate"
The best exchange on the podcast
😆😅😅🤣RIGHT🤣🤣🤣😂

This podcast is EVERYTHING I didn’t know I needed.
I would love to be fly on the TDS's walls to hear these two go at.
Dolce: I don’t wanna hear about your communities problems! We all got problems
Also Dolce: how do you not know what’s goin on in other communities?!
😜😂😂 love ya! This is a great series!

This is great. I'm pro conscientious rap. But this video is truly high art. The satire is on point. And the two of them together is great chemistry.
"The best thing to happen to marching was the sneaker" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love it! You both compliment each other so well. Dulce’s laugh is the best.
When he said Spoken Word was for off beat rappers... im crying

So well said.
Hey this is the closest thing we're getting to a show for Dulcé I'll take it!
51:24 Dulce GEEKING over mailing Josh a runner up trophy!!! 😂🤣😂 Josh was just excited to get mail at his new workplace!!
Rap is an acronym for Rythm And Poetry
So enjoyable and relatable! loved laughing wit y'all and the ways you shared your perspectives
Just so y’all know Josh has his own Podcast called the Josh Johnson Show!
Conscious raps with dope production, I'm all over it.
Two generations of awakening, reflecting, reprogramming and teaching. It's not the music. It is the reinforcement and programming to those who can't look at the music as entertainment consciously and subconsciously.
4:14 Dulcé: I don't know what you believe in?
Josh: Crickets.
The best conscience rap was the one Roy wood Jr spit on the daily show, shame on you for not showcasing it lol
Rent free 😂
I agree XD We need those rap songs of Roy about better education XDDD
🙄

Y’all have me in tears because I’m laughing so hard! Love it!!
✨Informative and entertaining; absolutely love this!✨
Dulcé's laugh is just THE best thing🤗
You all are absolutely hilarious and educational.
Love this! 👏👏👏 Thank you to the daily show for making this pod happen!
I've always liked Dulce but could not figure out why but this podcast kinda magnifys why. This podcast represents me in a lot of ways. I'm Josh on half of the days and Dulce the other 😆
yassssssss honey yasssssss
I am a Gwinnett county high school graduate and I can attest that Dulce is 100% correct about shouting out in the hallway lyrics to schools.
I get her point same thing here don't want to hear about world problems too much. sort of an escapism. But what if the conscious rap is actually trying to put positivity though?
I would go straight for Josh. No joke. We should clone him! There needs to be more ppl like him in this 🌎!!!!
cool dude but naw
I am for the innocence project documentary. Problem is the project is only successful because they move like ninjas. You (at least me) never hear about them trying to get people released it’s always promoted after they are successful.
The innoccence project has a Netflix Mini series called Innoccence Files (2020)
TPP.
Sometimes it's the beat to lift your energy, get u moving. Other times you need words of inspiration.
I love when Josh first mentioned consciousness Dulcé just sighs lol
I'd love a conscious rap club! I'd prefer that to anyone rubbing me period.
So glad we still have ppl like this. This is how you chop it up a homie. 👍🏾 Brilliant show and hilarious. Got me talking to the screen and laughing out loud. 🤣🤣
Love Dulce; Josh has an incredible voice. Excellent podcast!
I am disabled and was blind to so much because of the things going on.

This pod is gold
These conversations are so hilarious & are actually great conversations. Glad i found this
Its great to see and hear Josh. Didn't know he was with the Daily Show congrats
My favorite part was "GED thrown down the hall of a juvenile detention center" 😂🤣 Loved this great work Dulce and Josh!
The trophy had me dying

Yessss! The Knuck If You Buck flashback! I'm here for it!

If there was more conscious rap actually being treated as being popular and marketed you wouldn't see Lil Wayne supporting Trump. Just saying
Facts couldn't agree more he really does sound like six babys possessed by one baby talking at the same time. I literally just singing transform ya exactly like he did and I was like "Shiiiiiiiiddddd he's right"
😂😂😂
This is great content 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lil Wayne is another one in my high school time that I really grew up with early 2010s.
I love her opinion on Kendrick that's hilarious. There are conscious rap songs with revolutionary plans, and solutions. But if you only listen to party music, how would you know?
I could not like, love, laugh, snicker, and oh schitt! this ENOUGH! 😍😍😍
I'm dying listening to Josh talking about dancing! Poor baby!!😂. This was fun! More please!!😘
Thankfully I'm an eclectic person I listen to all different genres I've heard afrobeats I heard hip hop I've heard r&b i have heard pop I have heard soul I heard jazz I have heard classic I've heard ballads. I'm so happy I stumbled across this Podcast! The trophy story had me crying.
Love u guys...u need your own podcast ❤❤❤❤

I absolutely love Dulce’ Sloan. This is interesting, hilarious, and still true after all these years. 🤣👍🏾👍🏾

Brilliance!! Josh, I'm with you 100 percent

I’m sad there is only one episode out. After watching them interact on one of the Beyond the Scenes episodes I wanted more and we got our wish 🤗
I BIG loved both y'all individually but this 👆🏼 THIS?! Y'all together?! Magic. I'm hooked. ❤️ Plz don't change it or stop making them. Y'all plz plz plz 🙏 keep arguing and cracking on one another for the rest of time.
Oh yeah, my new favorite podcast!!!
That was amazing… I now want to listen to every song y’all talked about again
I'm hearing the story about the trophy that she gave him and I'm just like this is something you would see in a black version of The office.
Thank you for this podcast friends.
I grew up in crown heights and Flatbush, Brooklyn and I love this episode 😂 everything ❤️
Thank you for the description of Lil Wayne's voice!!!
I love yalls friendship! 🥰🥰🥰 josh your accent is so kewt. Dulce you are the best! So smart and funny. 💛💛💛
I was in the high school when Lil Jon's stuff really came out. Same with T-Pain actually T-Pain was a little earlier in my prep school days
I love that they are having friendly debates and they don't even perceive that it's totally normal in healthy intellectual friendships.
I love these two together.
10/10 absolutely love it
Both.
There are multiple types of screwdriver
Standard and Philips are the standard.
I can't choose your favorite because both have their own place in the music industry.
IMO. 😉
Immortal Techniques VS. NWA ?
I'm on the fence.
LOVED THE FIRST EPISODE SO MUCH! 😂🤣
Dulcé is taking about disassociating. That is escapism.
Yall too funny, great convo!!
i love you guys. I appreciate the work you do OFF camera as well. this is podcast inspiration for my small show.

Dulcé you & Josh have beautiful complexion. 😍
some conscious hip hop you can dance to is dope tho... and come on Josh? its obvious you have every conscious rapper's album ever... Josh signs his emails with Talib lyrics... jk Josh is great!

Consciousness hip hop for me
Hold Up.
We need this.
I'm gonna need the channel to put all episodes in one playlist. Please and thank you !!!!!!!! It makes relistening soo much easier
this is a gem! don't ever change!
Yeah I used to listen to red hot chili peppers as well back in the days when MTV was actually music
