THE SEASON 10 PREVIEW: REVIEW (Featuring Twitter) - Розваги
Doesn’t matter if an update changes how I play or how others play, I’m still gonna drown, blow my ship up, and sail at full speed into an outpost
As is tradition
You should make a guild all about griefing yourself and your ship 💀
@@andyralph4666It is legally required to light the ship on fire before logging off.
If you have fun while doing this, then you know its the right thing.
Raise the sails turn slightly then turn back you should be going slower slow enough to ram the island but not take damage
This will certainly affect the speedrun time for the maiden voyage!
Funnily enough, seeing Season 10 announcements made me rewatch old videos of Pixel. Just the nostalgia, the comedy, the simplicity. Good times.
Lol yeah
I’m so glad we finally got a comprehensive review of the Skull and Bones closed beta! Thanks so much for your insight
Quick swapping double gunners that have perfected deck shotting and skeet shooting aint gonna be happy the crew of 8 years olds on their first day wont be around to spawn camp anymore 🤯
That's right! Giving them 30% of gold on Safer Seas is just too generous. They should receive a _penalty_ playing there! And PAY gold to the NPCs!
Now they fight the likes of us pirates who want to and will fight back with everything we got!
@@jamesasterwolf584 As a drenched, two-gun toter myself, I fiercely agree! We need more regular players challenging us out there.
Good to see GeeNee coming in with his wry and grounded perspective; totally agree with your take on this, I was however always vocally against PVE only servers but the way Rare have designed the 'Safe Seas' looks pretty good and am interested to see how it plays out.
I give this video a '5 irate Falcores out of 7 calm Beardageddons'.
It’s perfect for new players and tall tales
I got really confused when I saw the Falcore stuff because I just came from his video talking about this and to my surprise, he said the complete opposite: that Safer Seas was a good thing. Then I looked closer and saw that the screenshot is fake. It's the wrong username (backwards), the wrong pfp, and it's from a date that's two months into the future.
Safer seas is a good step but it needs work. A reduction to 30% income is insane, at least make it 50%
@@diablotry5154 Agreed. The complete removal of Captaincy is also a very baffling decision that they added into it.
Sadly though, the old guard is already demanding that even more be removed from safer seas and that the people playing on said new mode don't get any gold and have their rep capped at 20.. As a day one player, it utterly sickens me to see just how many veterans seem to get their kicks out of denying others their fun. X(
Daam its good to hear players cry over pve servers it's like music to my ears
im going to miss all the salty toxic gamers crying over being sunk with an emissary and tons of loot
@@infinitypeaches3329I will too, now they’ll just have to grind their lives away being bored and only earning 40% of the money
@@infinitypeaches3329high seas still has plenty of that :)
I do not understand why it’s so controversial to add solo servers in safer seas. I like it because while I was new to the game and grinding pl I always avioided world events fearing I would waste a lot of time for nothing, and that’s what happened consistently, I didn’t want to fight I just wanted to have an uninterrupted experience with something I’d never done. I understand it’s sea of thieves but still. Also I think everyone (myself included) skimmed over colored rowboats being added
Very controversial because it'll make it so the only people playing on the PVP servers will be sweaty tryhards only looking for PVP, instead of a pirate game where you are plundering, looting treasure and trying to keep yourself and your loot safe above all, the game will turn into an open sandbox looter in PVE and a free for all death match in PVP worlds. Why would anyone in the PVP world even be getting loot?
I see the appeal for people who don't like PVP at all, and for people who only like PVP. But majority of SoT players are in the middle and enjoy being on their toes trying to drop off loot they've worked for and fighting when forced to.
@@DustyTomahawkWhy would they play high seas? Maybe because they don't get cut 70% of their profits? Maybe because the only big money world events are on higher seas? Maybe because it's required to get max level in the TC?
Absolutly L take, you just want to kill new players and cry about the change
@@DustyTomahawk I do see your point however I would mainly be doing it just to experience things alone, not for treasure due to the reduction in everything. Beyond that, most of the things I'm working towards, i.e level 100 in servants and leveling up athena's fortune are restricted to high seas even if I wanted to stay on the servers. I don't mind getting loot and defending it, it's just sometimes you need to do things alone. Even for experienced pvpers it could be helpful at least some, in case they took a break and were rusty, they can practice in low seas where they don't have to worry about getting interrupted. They may just try to go in high seas and practice with pvp but the choice is always there. I like to practice my aim with guns since I am a very bad shot with guns, and even my cannon aim gets off if I take too long a break.
You just described the NOW @@DustyTomahawk
"Oh hey, I wonder if this random boat will join me and my friend for- aaaand they just want to blow us up. Cool. And now they're chasing us. Cool. Shall we log off and play something actually fun? Yeah..."
@@DustyTomahawkthis is just going to filter out the players that
A. Are doing tall tales
B. Would be a quick sink with minimal loot
C. Grinding hunters call
And more if that type of stuff. The pve players that are okay with a fight and aren’t going to run away the moment they see a ship on the horizon are going to stay in high seas because that will get them the highest rewards. This will create a higher concentration of players who are down to fight and do world events/ engage with the rest of the server
Thank you for being a reasonable person. There's no reason for anyone to be upset about this change
Honestly, I like just about everything about this next season. Especially safe seas
Pace 22 had put it best: it gets rid of all the players that aren’t playing the game as the pvp’ers want them to play, so all the players with a basic under standing of the game or wants to do PvP are gonna be in the high seas while the 9-5 workers who are coming home to relax or people who are plain new to the game will be in the other mode. Plus, TallTale players are out of the way as well
then dont play at all this is a pvp game like it or not safer seas is a joke and will kill the game
@@Demonsouls1993SOT players when people wanna have fun in their game 😂 💀
@@Demonsouls1993its funny how sot case is similar to dbd's. People start to sweat their a33es in game, while its not a competitive descipline. Trying to optimize things in most cases mean the death of a fun.
@@Demonsouls1993 say that again, all i heard was wah wah wah XD bout time these game devs realised that without pve'ers, their games dont thrive. Last oasis learned that the hard way... go back to your toxic rock and cry some more :D
@@Techno_Bunny433 I just wanna have fun in Call of Duty but people keep killing me, don't they know I want to have fun?
I think the safer seas is a good idea because it will give newer players time to get better at the game before coming into sweat lords then just quitting the game like it is now. And there aren't alliance servers there so W rare
It will change nothing. Getting crapped on at lvl 40 or 0 is no difference.
@@SnakeOfficial The intended difference is that they'll ideally be hooked on the game by the time they get crapped on. That way there's a higher chance they'll stick around and learn how to defend themselves. Gotta leverage that beautiful sunk cost fallacy.
I think it won't prepare them for it, they won't have made any of the habits of looking for player ships or boarding ECT, so they will either go back to safer seas or just stop playing
@@secondrate922 yep, I pretty much forgot to answer skywriter, but yeah. They will just lower the "sunk cost fallacy". When they sink they just go back to Safer Seas...
@@secondrate922 fallacies and more fallacies. It is better to start pvp knowing something with a pve mode than without knowing anything....
I honestly believe that the only ones complaining are salty because they lost their soft targets. The High Seas just got real. The servers were always capped, so you never encountered more than that number anyway, there will just be fewer servers if anything, not fewer people.
That's what I told people. Fights will still happen, rolling up on a 2 man crew with a collective two hours in the game and sinking them won't.
Social interactions will still happen as well, a lot of the more social players in the first place are vets who have gotten past the "PVP all the time!" mentality.
You won't get as many "adorable noob crew joins your sloop so now you have five people on your boat" but I feel they'll still be there too.
@@DuskEalainI really enjoy non-hostile interactions with people in this game and genuinely working together. Betrayal is something I’ve experienced because of my gullibility, but I still would rather take a chance to be nice than just be another automatic PVP-on-sight guy. I’m really happy that safer seas are being added because I’ve had multiple tall tales get interrupted by random players
I don’t hate the idea but I think other things could’ve been done. Why not just make it a “custom games” you can even keep the rep and gold maybe at like 25% but the level cap should be lowered to like 20. But allow me to invite a bunch of friends and they all get their own shop and we can either do fall tales or practice pvp with each other. Hell we could have massive team battles or 3 ship crews taking on a tall tale. Now that sounds fun. Then add another 5 ships to the high sea servers. Best update ever 🤣
@@donovanjoseph737but that’s kind of my problem with safe seas. You aren’t gonna have any interactions at all..
Imma say it, and I may be torn apart for this, but those mad about safer seas are simply afraid of having to actually back up their fierce talk and supposed "love" for PVP with the increase of actually good players coming. They talk a lot but they're cowards. I may not be the best fighter, but I sure look forward to the coming challenge!
Yup. There will be less "free" targets and more who will at least put up good fights.
Filter out the players that are doing tall tales, fishing, and just don’t want to fight whatsoever. Make more room for people who actually wanna make money, PvP, do world events, and interact with the other players in general
Favorite SoT creator. Nobody cracks me up like you. Hope I get to say hi next time I see you in game and not get booted after being sunk by you in HG battle.
I mean A lot of it is really cool and I understand trying to protect the new players. I think the community hears PVE and freaks out a little bit. My biggest fear is that a lot of the new players never make the jump into the PvP servers. Idk maybe I'm overthinking it.
My average session:
- Run into a tall-tale guy, have a chat, leave
- Fight a reaper, take his stuff
- Do a world event
- Tall-tale guy comes back, asks to team up, we cruise together
- A galleon full of sweats shows up and we have a big fight with multiple ships
- A crew of kids shows up, joins our boats, we let them sell
Half of these things will hardly happen thanks to Safer Seas and the genuine fun and surprising encounters will be replaced by sweaty battles. There's so much possibility in keeping it all on one server.
The people that are upset have a point but we all get shoved in the same box as toxic noob-trashers. And being told that there's nothing to worry about because last updates people got upset too.
All of these things can still happen. Even the tall tale guy. Sure, there won't be as many of them but that seems to be a minor thing to give players a way to enjoy the game THEY want. Just DEALING with toxic assholes should not be a requirement to enjoy any video game. And this seems like a minor thing to help a lot of people. You'll still queue into a server with the same amount of people as before. Plus, this could drive way more players to the game. All of those who came in for their first play session and had fun up until the point where some assholes wreck them 4-1 and then proceed to spawn camp them until they scuttle now have a way to dip their toes in the water and potentially transition. Especially since half the games content isn't accessible in Safer Seas and the gold amount you receive is SUPER low. I am hoping this brings more players cause that is what the game needs at this point in its life, I feel.
Why do you assume that literally every non-sweaty person will migrate to safer seas?
@@odinsudonsthe fact that your calling spawn camping till scuttle a toxic strategy shows you don’t understand the game… how else are you supposed to make sure a ship sinks?
@@PaddleTales24 I'm not referring to that. I'm referring to typical spawn camping relative to SoT; where they purposefully DONT let your ship sink so you keep respawning and dying. From what I've gathered talking to some newer players, most don't even know you can scuttle your ship. So they just think they're stuck until they leave and come back.
This guy raised me in the world of SoT and realising what the game is now it kinda makes me sad
People are just mad they cant seal club people who dont stand a chance anymore. Thank you for finally pointing out that all the casuals going to safer seas means there will be MORE PvP in the high seas.
Exactly! Their timbers are shivered at the idea of a real fight!
even as a non casual u encounter cheaters wich ruin the fun of good fights a lot of times tbh
The "oh sh*t, here we go" had no business being that funny
4:20 this is kind of true but having friendlies can make for really fun and wholesome experiences. sometimes after a big fight its nice to chill with some cool people, but if a lot of the friendly people are in PvE this is just going to make every server a sweatlord fest. As much as i love combat this can't be a good feature
I've some friendly crews who are also sweats.
420😂
@@danieljacksonofficial5107 yeah same but the ones i meet are usually shoot first ask questions later lol
I think most players who just want PvE want to be left alone anyways. I'm sure there will be a varied experience still.
I'm not looking forward to the sweatlord-fest. Variety is the spice of this game and this is gonna get bland quickly
Pixel gracing us with another video of great wisdom yet again
As a man with a degree in games design, I can tell you for free that they should have done this a LONG time ago. Frankly the moment they brought out the Tall Tales this should have been an option.
The playerbase is about to explode in my view as now people can play with their kids and not have their day ruined by the sweaty try-hards. Looking at YOU Pixel! 😄
Yep, I dropped the game a little after I was trying to do tall tales and kept getting interrupted. The worst time being I was talking to an npc and my ship got sunk, I thought fine that doesn't affect me too bad and they'll realize I have nothing and leave me alone. But then one of them ran up to me while I'm still listening to dialogue and killed me after I tried to tell him what was going on.
I think that people who now “choose” to be in high seas will be onboard with PVP so you will get less people who don’t want to PVP so won’t fight anyway or are just there doing story thus don’t have anything to plunder anyway. So safer seas will actually make the PVP more rewarding in high seas. The only thing being lost is being able to gang up on new/less skilled/non PVPers for now real gain/challenge. And when that happens those players don’t return to the game so you loose them anyway.
It still takes away a big portion of the game IMO. Without people doing PVE/voyages in the server high seas just turns into arena. It will take away some of the dynamic nature of the world of not knowing what a ship you see on the horizons intentions are.
Lol was waitin for this, always a pleasure pixel
Ooohhh that new world event has me excited
Dunno if you were busy or just shenanigans...but...in the 2nd Monkey Island Tall Tale some mysterious guy had the audacity to try and sell me an obsidian CAPSTAN that even on just a plank wasn't CENTERED!
instead of adding safer seas, I wish they'd add a single-player campaign to the game, that can be played offline. my biggest problem with this game is that if your internet is out you can't play. if you don't have Xbox Gold, you can't play. and when the servers eventually go offline, guess what. you can't play.
That would be pretty interesting actually. Maybe the campaign would be about the lore before the present time of Sea of Thieves. Like when it was first discovered by the pirate lord and flameheart
@@andyralph4666 yeah that'd be really cool. I was thinking more along the lines of RARE creating a campaign based on Project Dream. A pirate-themed RPG which eventually evolved into Banjo-Kzooie
oh I can't wait to see what shenanigans i can get up to at fof's now
My gripe is not the PVE servers. Its that for the amount of time they've been working, there's only one new thing to do. Like wtf have they been doing?
Making the Monkey Island tall tales, I'm pretty sure. But also, maybe guilds will be more complex than we're expecting. That's what I hope, anyway.
@@skywriter4308 It better not be the Monkey Island stuff though. They shouldn't be spending an entire year of time making crossover content when their main storyline is still unfinished.
I like the PvE option. Honestly I think PvE needs more option but that's for a different time. There are a lot of PoS that all they want to do is ship sinks and troll people. I will never forget the day that I was trying to teach a new player the ropes on a sloop just for us to get hunted by a brig after I told them we have no gold and I'm with a noob. He left the game and as far as I'm aware he never came back. PvE servers didn't "kill the game" the self entitled A-Holes that can't see Paar themselves are the ones dealing the most damage to the game.
Nope. Just means there will no longer be casual PVP between two ships that have loot. PVP servers will be full of only those PoS players you complain about, and there will be no reason to play them as noone will have loot, because why get loot on a PVP server and risk it when you can just go on PVE?
@@DustyTomahawk Cry harder
To anyone seeing this, it should be obvious that you should never listen to what Twitter has to say. Especially after this video.
@foSoT Oh yeah ofc, as a Redditor myself, that place can also be a fucking hellhole.
I think its a good idea to offer more options, I know I would appreciate being able to play more than 10 minutes without being taken out by salty keyboard pirates, often even before setting sail. It would be excellent to have an opportunity to learn the game without having to be a pvp expert constantly vying for a kill. I've owned Sot since it came out and haven't played it sans a few hours, because it's just not fun. An option to play solo would get me to play, learn the game play and advance by choice.
Its for that reason iv been asking for a pve mode for years. i wouldnt use it myself but its soo hard for new players to get into the game due to how swetty its become. a mode like this is exacly what is needed and despite what the toxic side of the community says there are no downsides to it what so ever. hell the only complaint i see is that swetty players will no longer have noob players to get ez kills on witch its players like that we need a pve server.
@shawbag11 Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy videos of the likes of the creator, handily boarding a ship and shooting everyone in the punum with a bazooka and sinking the ship with a hardee har har. I'm a big minecrafter, love it. Open world, do as you wish. I don't pvp. There is enough adversity if one chooses to take on bosses or at least prep to do so. I could choose to join a pvp server, but that is not my game. Sot is most captivating, resource management, tiered quests, and natural adversities without the salty try-hards always up your bow to sink your ship and kill you for nothing other than they can. I'm not the only one who doesn't play because of the toxic people. There would be a large bunch of us that would if a solo option were available. Thanks for the comment.
Man i miss your Sot video's so much. Hang in there
The video clip at 4:30 is priceless given the context of the conversation 😂
I think the togetherness of it all kinda was the fun part. Allowing this gives people what they want which is fine, but at the same time it removes a lot of the mystery. I've had a lot of run ins with friendly pirates over the years, but with these changes you'll probably just assume every other ship is hostile now because all the friendlies are in a PvE server doing alliance gold farming with the reapers. I don't think the game is ruined, but it will probably be far more hostile now.
Couple things here. You can't run emissaries in safer seas and you can't gain rep with reapers or athenas.
To add to @nut897's reply, Safer Seas servers only allow one crew at a time, so alliances will be exclusive to High Seas.
Haven't played in months should I get back into it?
Let me know what conclusion you've come to after you have watched the video.
@@AbsolutePixelyeah I'm not sure to be honest, I think it woul be interesting but at the same time I need space on my PC because I don't have much
My friend and I are still relatively new. He finally got enuff money to buy his own captained ship so he purchased it. It got blown up at the dock before we even set sail… lol
Wonder what they think about Season 11.
Safer seas sonds really good, I really don't know why it is even a controversy. Like, I prob won't play it because there is legit nothing to do for me there, but it is nice for those who want to play it. I would just like it if I could go on there with two or three boats so I could battle my friends, sandbox like.
twitter users try not to complain about the smallest inconveniences possible challenge: IMPOSSIBLE
Its cause I feel like 90% of the people that spend most the day on Twitter complaining about anything. Anime/Games/Shows/movies ect ect. Are on Twitter cause they arent doing what they are complaining about instead they are just looking/screaming into the void for attention. The real people who enjoy games/anime show up a couple times when taking breaks/eatting to post screen shots and such. Twitter is just the loud minority of communities.
This guy is a Legend
Bro Twitter is wild. I know for a fact a majority of the SoT community wanted PvE servers for a long time.
Sadly, this is probably too late already. They should have had them from the start. And what's the point of crippling them with level caps etc? Rare just can't get anything done right.
@@DisgruntledDoomer What you don't understand is that it will encourage them to go on the high sea. Safer Sea is for new player so its normal that there is a level cap
@@boullemanitou6876 But people don't want "encouragement". The whole reason why everyone has been asking for PvE only servers, is to have fun in peace. But this crippled "Safer seas" version doesn't quite work like that. So it's like the worst of both worlds.
@@DisgruntledDoomer so people bought a game they don't like? Ask for a refound and try any other game you like. Sea of *Thieves* isn't their thing...
@@DisgruntledDoomer What I don't understand is that you say "PvE server is to have fun in peace. Safer give that peace. And its normal to have that level cap and money reduce like its for "fun in peace" like you say. And Safer Sea is for new player or chill player not to farm the level or comendation.
Safer Seas will be great for tall tales, some commendations, having a chill experience, and playing with friends or kids.
I'm still going to play high seas mainly since I'm grinding for pirate legend and eventually getting into pvp.
I finally have a reason to play this game I used to love again. I've been wanting almost exactly this since launch day
Alliance Servers: We did boys, we got more or less what we wanted.
I love the blend of a bit of pvp and pve making an awesome pirate adventure so my only worry is it will depopulate the servers but nothing wrong with people wanting to do pve only and it probably wont effect server population hopefully it might even increase pvp quality
i didn't know anything going into this video, but when i heard "PVE servers" I immediately got mad because I thought that everyone was going to farm everything in those servers and kill the rest of the game, But upon seeing that they only earn gold at a 30% rate i understood that it is probably going to be so inefficient that it will draw people back to the high seas after only a short time.
Not only that, it's a solo instance, so only one ship/crew. No reapers or athenas, you can't progress anything past level 30 and gain rep at one third the normal rate, plus you can't even get a named ship on those servers. It's perfect for tall tales though
They can no longer roll on newbies and be super good now they actually have to go up against other people who are actually good at the game?! Absolutely insane
You can be super good AND enjoy playing with noobs. So many people think sweatlords hate this Safer Seas because they can't trash everyone so easily but they can't imagine just enjoying the random, fun encounters with a variety of players.
It's also worth mentioning that hourglass has already siphoned off 90% of the sweatiest sweatlords (myself included) from regular adventure mode. The players running down noobs and clowning on them usually aren't even the really good players. They're often just the insecure mid-tier PvPers who avoid hourglass because they might lose.

I'm lookin forward to actually doing the Voyages for once, No fear of being sunk while i pay attention to stuff or being paranoid while i try to solve that puzzle.
Hell, Lookin forward to not having to play with blatant hackers when i'm not doing Hourglass.

I might actually get an open crew in high seas that isn't mentally retarded for once aswell! Gunna be great.
jesus the sot community is such a horrible place, safer seas is an amazing update. personally can't wait to play it myself, since sometimes i just want to relax with the game and take in the beautiful world.
weird of you to think that, there are worse, I figure this community is more tame. But yes, safer seas are great, I will fish there and do Tall Tales.
@@brokemono yeah i agree some communities are worse but still, the sea of thieves community is not great.
Hell yea bro cant wait for that mode.
it's not a good update at all. first of all, friendlies will be more scarce in adventure, turning adventure into a sweatfest(sometimes after a big fight, friendlies can give you an amazing experience, such as glitterbeard and more). I could go on and on, but ill just list that because you get my point
@@infinitypeaches3329it isn’t even out yet how do you know
im honestly super excited for safer seas esp with how theyve done the balancing but i still wish they had fort of fortune or fort of the damned but without the loot in it just cause i like doing them
The issue with PVE server is that it's going to take a chunk of people out of the player base and have them on their own. Those people most likely will not be rejoining the regular player base because they don't know how to pvp and will not be able to fight the PVP people if they do go back after
Also, those people are the people who do missions and collect treasure. The people who like PVP aren't normally running around doing PVE stuff all day. They're hunting those people and those people are going to be leaving the servers
I'm banking on the hope that PvE players who turn to Safer Seas will eventually get tired enough of the level limits and slow grind to begin risking the regular game again, which is what Rare seems to be hoping as well.
@@skywriter4308 It is but I don't think that will occur, sot is a game where people would rather cheat in hourglass then get good at pvp. Rare created the reapers bones for pvp and you have reaper runners, they created hourglass for pvp and people loss grind. Pve servers with two ships would be insane, for tdm etc

Also it opens an opportunity for a role playing style to be played effectively
I guess no fixes to hacker in hourglass lmao
i think that safer seas are mind to do exactly what you can do in regular pvp servers, but relaxing and with almost no progresion
thats cool, it doesnt affect nothing the regular gameplay
i was always against PvE servers for the same reason as a lot of people... BUT, the way that implamented it is actually a good idea and i think that it is good for the game but we ll have to see
Yeah. We can all agree it coulda been a HELLA lot worse. Now it’s around 1/3 as hard to get around PL as it was at launch with PVE servers. I still just think sinking is part of the journey, and most players will never get good
The people mad about safer seas are people who get mad when their favorite person they used to relentlessly bully in school decides to homeschool. You’re all just bully’s. I’m not talking about people who attack someone for a fort I’m talking about people who attack people that are fishing or doing tall tales etc. There’s not enough money to be made on safe seas and there’s a level cap. You’re only mad cause you be able to bully new players as easily or someone who’s just minding their own business.
There is no minding your own business on the seas especially when doing a voyage I don't get why people attack tall talers or fishermen but if someone is doing a voyage and has loot on their ship of course I'm gonna rob them its part of the game
we are pirates playing the game as it is meant to be played, not bullies.
Ah yes. Piracy = bullying.
With the pve option, I'd probably return to check the game out again.
Honestly, I wait for SoT updates to watch more pixel videos 😂
The people complaining are acting like everyone in the high seas are going to just switch over to safer seas. That makes no sense. I see nothing but returning players and new players coming to SOT because of the safer seas.
01:55 AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA good bit
rip sot
Sadly I jumped off the SOT train this game was fun and great but it’s a horizontal leveling which obviously gets dull after 4 years of playing
Thinking about it now, I understand why Twitter is mad. They won’t have any noobs to steal from on high seas now. It’s just ganna be full of skilled players
I love how much people are crying it hoenstly it was the most satisfying thing in the discord seeing all the swet lords get annoyed that there ez noob kills will soon be gone. honestly theres no downside to pve servrs iv been saying it for years and the way rare is doing it is soo fare. anytime i hear people argue against them its always the most selfish and petty arguemtns they use like "oh new players will be able to earn things faster than i did" look who cares how ez or hard someone earned a pointless cosmetic in a silly pirate game its ment to be about having fun not work. for crist sake i sore some idiot try to argue that earning commendations and hitting max rank in all the tradeing companys is the same as getting a real life degree. like seriesuly how can someone make that connection and still be taken serisuly
there are many downsides to pve servers. do you want me to explain?
@@infinitypeaches3329 only if you can do it without sounding selfish. or saying "its gonna segregate the playerbase" or saying "people will be able to earn things i earned but without as much effort as i put in"
Cus before u even say it i can answer both of thoese statements by saying 1 no it wont there are plenty of other games with pvp and pve servers that still have active playerbases on both kinds for example elite dangerous just to name one. and 2 why dose it matter how someone gets 100 barnicle chests ? it dosnt matter if they do it on a private server or not its just a meaningless achivment at the end of the day. the only downside is players who like to attack everything they see wont be able to kill noobs doing tall tails anymore since they will be on the main server.
Also before u even say it getting 40 levels on the pve server isnt going to matter to u even slightly cus anyone who dose that is only getting 30% of the xp and they dont have emecerys or world events to make it go faster. for someone to do that will probs take longer than it took me to get pirate legend back when the game first came out so if they willing to do that they have hoenstly worked harder than playing on the main server and 100% deserve to be lv 40.
there im pritty sure after that you shouldnt have any need to "explain" anything since theres nothing you can say thats a valid downside i didnt just address
@@shawbag11 ok here we go. first of all, there will be much less friendlies, which will make normal mode not have varied experiences and have lots of sweats(you ever had an experience like glitterbeard or a certain coconut salesman that I have on my channel? those will all be replaced with fighting hourglass sweats). second of all, no/less loot to steal. safe seas has no emissaries, captaincy, etc, but the thousands of people begging for emissaries and captaincy on safe seas will likely change their mind just like bringing back some old cosmetics, and then there wont be any loot to steal because pvpers dont stack and the loot-stackers will be on safe seas. third of all, tucking will be impossible. this is because most of the people on normal mode will just be hyper-aware sweats, and the people who fall for tucking plays will be on safe seas, thus making tuckers extinct. last of all, when the safe seas players get max rank on safe seas, they will want to try normal mode. nothing wrong, right? wrong. they will get destroyed by the sweats, and then will uninstall and complain on reddit, dropping the playerbase down to where it was in all your average content droughts. I've been working on this for a while to counter the people who think pve servers are good, so I hope you liked it.
@@infinitypeaches3329 im not reading that i just told u its not gonna segregate the community witch means u will still 100% get fraindly players on the main server so everything you probs just said is invalid. and you know what i dont care what you have to say cus the servers are coming no matter how much you complain so you just gonna have to deal with it :P
@@shawbag11 you literally allowed me to give you my arguments, and your saying you aren't going to read it? seriously?
Howdy Pixel
hey @AbsolutePixel if you are still nitpicking (the nitpicking videos are my favorite) did you notice that the sloop in sea of thieves is closer to a kog than an actual sloop
I will continue to fish on the high seas.
that's a great point about safer seas!
I'm worried non pve servers will be too aggressive now
Is it true that you are one off the editors for matpat?
as much as I know people are scared of this killing pvp, but this feels very reminiscent of what happened between dark souls 3 and elden ring where invaders only invade people who opt into online. what happened a lot of times in dark souls 3 was new players would conquer a boss, get embered, not realize that the game was online and then some guy pulls up in all red and slaughters them. I played the game 3 years after it came out and i was both that player and saw those players as I became better and invaded. Was it funny for a bit? sure, but ultimately it was not fun invading someone who did not want to fight and just ran. I feel like this will be the same type of thing where new players can dip their toes in a safe place to get into the game, people who wanna challenge others will still be in normal lobbies, and some of those newbies may eventually want to try their hand at it as well. What also makes me happy knowing is people with disabilities can have a safe way to play this game. I remember seeing there was this player who was completely blind and his 3 friends would help him get into position to do the things he liked such as fishing and I thought that was so sweet but always thought how sad it be for someone to just sink his ship. This combined with all the accessibility features in the game can make this a really nice escapism game for those people (also random thing I found cool was that blind guy I mentioned would use the vibration from holding the compass to get exact distances for walking to the places he remembers on the ship. A feature that seems meaningless to us is a literal game changer to others)
My only problem with the safer seas is that now instead of every encounter you have with another probably being hostile, it’s definitely going to be hostile. Kinda takes away some of the excitement of seeing another ship on the horizon when you know it’s gonna be a threat 100%
I don't think that most people who look for friendly interactions will retreat to Safer Seas, for the excellent reason that there aren't ANY inter-crew interactions in Safer Seas. That being said, I personally wouldn't mind a more hostile environment. I wish more people would come at me instead of cowering behind islands and clutching their single mermaid gem like it'll determine their happiness for the next month.
@@skywriter4308 You just brought up memories of the time I ran from a gallon for three hours straight because I had two mermaid gems and a ashen castaway chest on my ship.
I was so happy when I heard about safer seas which meant I might actually return to try the game again after so many years to chill with my son and friends.. Then finding out content is locked and I would receive less xp etc etc.... sooo yeah, still a hard pass for me.. This game can stay locked away in Davey Jones locker for all I care :(
Really appreciate your grounded takes. It's actually almost impressive how petty, entitled, and melodramatic the SoT community has become in just 5 short years. That's gotta be some kind of record.
I swear, if I had a doubloon for every time I've heard some sweatlord manchild screech about how **this** update or **that** change is gonna "KiLl ThE gAmE", I'd be one filthy rich pirate.
I honestly believe even League of legends players would be afraid of Sot gamers 😅
@@brock7405 Whoa, whoa, let's not state the impossible here
Agreed, worded it perfectly lol.
We need more nickpicks. Plz.
I haven't played in months because most work nights I'm too mentally exhausted to roll the dice on a chill session turning into a frenetic firefight with salty language children.
It'll be nice to have an option to be able to exist in the world and just enjoy being in the space. It's not about the gold it's about the call of the sea :)
yo that’s crazy, as soon as they add a quality of life option that separates the valued playerbase from the people who love to make hard work by a casual crew a straight up waste of time, people start to call the game dead? Color me absolutely shocked.
“But SoT is a pirate game! Other pirates stealing is a necessary part of the process, get over it.” Aww, don’t get your panties in a wad, son. Maybe you had your fun conquering scrub lobbies, but Rare has taken away that “loot” from you lot. It’s a pirate game, get over it.
all the friendly players will go to safe seas, making less varied experiences with retired hourglass sweats and nothing else. you know glitterbeard? have you had those special experiences? then you know what I mean. this will turn adventure mode into nothing but another hourglass mode
@@infinitypeaches3329i hate to break it to you but if people are sweating in a game like Sea of Thieves, then they’ve got my condolences. It sounds miserable, and i’ll be glad to stay far from it.
@@Toshiro-dono it sounds miserable to play the game as intended?
@@infinitypeaches3329 yeah, when all i'd be doing is stomping scrub crews and sailing with randos for tons of gold that can get me, wait for it... silly, goofy cosmetics!, when all I'd rather be doing is questing with my buds. you have my condolences.
@@Toshiro-dono pvp isn't just ''stomping scrub crews'', you must do so much mind-numbing pve that you killed your fucking brain
I’m going to use safer seas for things like practicing bucketing in private without people following me round and laughing at me :D
I just wish in safer seas you could bring ONE other crew with you. That way you can practice PvP against another crew to get you ready for the high seas. It would then also give those of us who are not partners the ability to create video content without having to server jump for hours on end, just to get blasted by another crew while filming.
I will not touch a single (non Tall Tale) chest on SaferSeas for 12% of its HighSeas value (Emissary Flag bonus included)
What did ShinyRay do?
Ask Falcore
We waited 9 months and get 2 combined seasons in 1. For starters pve servers, probably took devs 1 day to setup. 2nd ill admit i like the voyage, again maybe a couple weeks to implement and last we get colorful rowboats. Enjoy your double season guys, thats what we get after 9 months. Oh wait probably a battlepass you can complete in 8hrs as well. Rare is a joke
I'm sad to see they're not doing anything about Hourglass, it's a painful and boring slog that legit made me quit SoT
Might actually play the game again lmao
I am so happy that PVE is finally arriving. So great to think I can just sail in peace in december
i think this is a bad change personally. if all of the people who dont like pvp go into pve servers then friendly players are gonna be more scarce in pvp :/
@@sketchystreet1 "friendly players are gonna be more scarce in pvp" Almost like that gamemode is for Player Versus Player.
@@myatnykrolik7593 normal mode isn't just pvp, its pvevp(pve and pvp)
@@myatnykrolik7593 youre missing the whole point lol. see comment i made
You see this with every game that has hardcore PvP - the PvPers can't comprehend how anyone could not enjoy PvP, and think that if you're not playing it their way, you don't deserve to play at all. I love Sea of Thieves, but its PvP community is among the most toxic I've ever seen.
I love how so many people are getting upset about things that do not affect them in the slightest. Don’t like the PVE mode? Then just don’t play it, it’s really not that difficult
I would love if safer seas was a joke and they just make adventures replayeable
Probably gonna incorporate the 2 eventually.
Lol yeah
safer seas is good becouse you can learn the basics
What's Twitter?
Why didn't they just add the PVP gamemode back?
AP I need more videos of you dunking on kids plz. Love all the new vids of course but I want new videos of AP being the SoT god. ❤
Ive been waiting 6 months for this?
I know dude 🤦🏻
6 months is pretty short in the scheme of game design
Gotta think about what sorta technical debt they came across while developing all this, along with how long figuring out and designing everything would've taken
@@DJBaphomet This season is late because the team was making Monkey Island content. Rare refuses to state this but it's obvious. Monkey Island has a stupid amount of content and they took time out of developing the core game in order to make Monkey Island. Rare doesn't want to state this out loud cause the players that don't care about Monkey Island will feel disregarded
@@DJBaphomet Rare could do a heck of a lot more in half a year. Just basic things like raising the cap on the trading companies to 100 and tossing in some basic cosmetics. They could make some desperately needed changes to hourglass to keep it going. They could add reaper rowboats back into the game.
Even the skull of siren song is a reskinned ashen winds skull and the coloured rowboats came from arena - they barely did anything new for this patch and its pretty blatant at this point.
@@DJBaphometDon’t even man, Forsaken Shores, a whole map expansion mind you, took 1 month to add into the game after the previous update, in fact all Year 1 updates were roughly 1-2 months apart. Rare taking 7 months to add a new menu that tracks the same stuff we’ve been doing for the past 5 years is absurd and they know it. Hence why most of the devs have gone AWOL on social media platforms and even their own forums aside from Mike.
