+Konstantin Putnik hes always been the best in my opinion anyway._ Saw him live promoting random album title.. Just awesome seen him since 2008. Hes just natural
The setup for those curious: MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Running Ableton) iPad Pro (Running TouchOSC) DJM-900NXS2 (Channel 1 & 2 Assigned to Ableton (Laptop), Channel 3 & 4 Assigned to CDJs) 2x CDJ-2000NXS2 He seems to pretty much resorts to using only CDJs at the end as he didn't seem to have Ableton/CDJs setup to have some kind of cue to each other (He tried to manually sync Ableton/CDJ a couple of times which is why you hear the Ableton metronome) I would've thought Joel give the Traktor gear a run on this stream (Since some months ago he posted a couple of pictures with the Traktor S8 and D2) but I guess not lol Also big thanks for the upload!
Joel, don't get me wrong, I love games, but I'd watch this over anything anyone broadcasts on Twitch. I love the intimate view during a set (kinda boiler room-ish?) and this just absolutely nails it. Whenever you feel in the mood to mix, please just casually throw on the stream because this was an utterly delightful treat.
I'm sitting here saying to myself "I would love all of this equipment", two seconds later..."never mind I wouldn't know what the fuck to do with it anyways."
if you have ever played keyboard before you would know what to do with some of it. A lot of its synths and midi controllers which are pretty simple to use. Joel has top of the line hardware in his studio and I am a bit jelly lol. I took keyboard lessons in school and I would love to mess around with the moog synths he has
I own some (but not nearly close to all) pieces of equipment that are similar to some of those. It's honestly waaay easier then you'd think. A lot of those are little modules that you link together with other little modules to change the sound. So an occilator that makes noise, routed to a delay, routed to a filter with a LFO routed to it to control it, with that routed to xyz... and so on... they're like musical switch boards. Plus you don't learn it immediately, you pick it up over time
+KingAndrew5000 That's actually the subscriber notification he has on Twitch. It wasn't part of the music itself. Oh yeah, and he streams on Twitch! You should check him out.
+Zachariah Moreno I know for a fact he used cdjs when he first came about. He played in a club in Belfast before the mau5 head existed and that was on cdjs
I respect steve angello, but at the same time I cant listen to that style of progressive, but thats because im a trance fan, and we are sick of the bigroom elements coming into trance tracks.
+Juan Esteban Ospina Size has a lot of shit. Steve's new album was kind of neet but the mastering and bass drops ruined it for me. After dealing with buildup-drop-breaks between sections for years and years, everybody ends up making tracks like that even when they don't really intend to. Even minimal house, deep house and hardstyle sound like bigroom.
Definitely love the techno roots here. Brings back memories from his live sets at Webster Hall NYC years back. Deadmau5, if you're reading this, those were great sets. You really created a unique and deep journey for everyone to enjoy. It was organic, it was fluid, it was true. Great times :D When it doubt, go back to your roots.
Nice hearing this !And I probably crossed him a few times in Ghent in Culture Club at the time. Good that he deployed his skills so well, and that it brought him good wealth! Big up Joel! Hope to see you again soon.
I would say, there is well over $1mil USD worth of equipment, renovation, and remodeling in this studio. Very impressive. Looks like the tours over the last decade has paid very well.
meanwhile at NASA headquater's hidden back office.... "hey how is the new engine prototype for Ariadne 6 coming along?" "coming along just fine but more importantly how are the new on board beats for the ISS ?" "they are spacetacular"
Nice little set!!! Darmec and Ronny will be pleased to see a track of theirs in this mix!!! and its good to see that Joel is a on cue point kind of guy :) i see so many landing in off cue points in the imfamous world we call the industry, nice work.... shame on the mishap ive seen so far but hey were not perfect! ;)
hell of a set! in my opinion his best one! i really hope he stays in this techy vibe and drops that EDM bullshit for good!got his money from those EDM twats ,new studio sorted,-now time to make some real music! Underground 4ever !

Still a better crowd than Ultra
+Why Try woosh
this nigga lost
Charles Green 88I'm

This is the Deadmau5 who I wanna hear.
same...

+Konstantin Putnik hes always been the best in my opinion anyway._ Saw him live promoting random album title.. Just awesome seen him since 2008. Hes just natural
I prefer Get Scraped.
No lights to go with, just the flow
The setup for those curious:
MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Running Ableton)
iPad Pro (Running TouchOSC)
DJM-900NXS2 (Channel 1 & 2 Assigned to Ableton (Laptop), Channel 3 & 4 Assigned to CDJs)
2x CDJ-2000NXS2
He seems to pretty much resorts to using only CDJs at the end as he didn't seem to have Ableton/CDJs setup to have some kind of cue to each other (He tried to manually sync Ableton/CDJ a couple of times which is why you hear the Ableton metronome)
I would've thought Joel give the Traktor gear a run on this stream (Since some months ago he posted a couple of pictures with the Traktor S8 and D2) but I guess not lol
Also big thanks for the upload!
And I thought I was a deadmau5 nerd. ❤
Do you have an idea how hes using ableton? Is he pulling the tracks into a channel?
"I made a new friend." "Real or imaginary?" "Imaginary"
Love that lol
+WaffleSpaz i know right
Donnie darko??
Yep
What's that from.... I swear i've heard that from a movie
+Dylan Morris its Donnie Darko
i love how the subscriber sample plays perfectly in sync lol
it took me nearly a year to notice that "i've made a new friend" sample wasn't a part of set but subscribe notification lol
lol...... you fucking ruined the vibe for this :D hahah lmao it fitted perfectly
Joel, don't get me wrong, I love games, but I'd watch this over anything anyone broadcasts on Twitch. I love the intimate view during a set (kinda boiler room-ish?) and this just absolutely nails it. +Ben Z VERBATIM that!!
This isn't Joel's channel lol
+Ben Z He just needs about 10 or 12 people standing around barely moving and he'd totally get that boiler room vibe.
I rather listen to set's like this then going to a big festival with banger after banger! This is like awesome Club shit!!! Go joel

Nah 80% of the stuff is pretty easy to get behind as long as you don't wanna understand how it all works in every little detail.
I own some (but not nearly close to all) pieces of equipment that are similar to some of those. It's honestly waaay easier then you'd think. Man everyone plays that ID guy. What a legendary producer.
The mix he does from 47..47 to 50.00 is just magical... IT brings so much emotion, lovely, Deadmau5 is the king !!!
that "i made a new friend" sample is tight af!
+KingAndrew5000 That's actually the subscriber notification he has on Twitch. It wasn't part of the music itself. Oh yeah, and he streams on Twitch! You should check him out.
+Dean F funny, i didn't realize that. sweet sample though.
+APL Music that sample is from Donnie Darko
I fell for that too, it just fits perfectly with the music and the vibe of it
This Room..
I never thought I'd see the day where Deadmau5 uses CDJ's.
Ikr
He started off on CDjs?
+ryan burns Nah, He's constantly criticized them and he has been seen using all kinds of gear throughout the years, but not CDJ's.
+Zachariah Moreno I know for a fact he used cdjs when he first came about. He played in a club in Belfast before the mau5 head existed and that was on cdjs
+ryan burns I guess this tweet confirms said statement. twitter.com/deadmau5/status/626164809139154944
i love Deadmau5 so much
+塞克马 lovemau5!
I love that you upload these streams! :)
it is so awesome to see him at his home doing music, it's totally other kind of experience
the Akira sample is so fucking cool and mix so well!
Omg thats amazing! I like the way he plays tchno with vocals from his tracks
Thanks for rocking Feel You Joel! Awesome set
This is way better than all the big room scene
+Juan Esteban Ospina says the guy with a size records dp
Nick Berry Do u in general consider size records big room? i know this music is more underground, less mainstream. But size also has quality music
I respect steve angello, but at the same time I cant listen to that style of progressive, but thats because im a trance fan, and we are sick of the bigroom elements coming into trance tracks.
+Juan Esteban Ospina Size has a lot of shit.

couldnt have put it better myself - trance has been polluted....
24:40 Missing ID is with another track: Phil Kieran - Empty Vessels (Gary Beck Remix Tool 2)
deadmau5 kicking it off with the techno! i love it
Several years have passed and I still love this set.
Definitely love the techno roots here. Brings back memories from his live sets at Webster Hall NYC years back. Deadmau5, if you're reading this, those were great sets. You really created a unique and deep journey for everyone to enjoy. It was organic, it was fluid, it was true. Great times :D
When it doubt, go back to your roots.

I would say, there is well over $1mil USD worth of equipment, renovation, and remodeling in this studio. Very impressive. Looks like the tours over the last decade has paid very well.

Darmec and Ronny will be pleased to see a track of theirs in this mix!!! and its good to see that Joel is a on cue point kind of guy :) i see so many landing in off cue points in the imfamous world we call the industry, nice work.... shame on the mishap ive seen so far but hey were not perfect! ;)

+adv0cat3 yeah agree bro ,proper space ship =D
+djhousefaction "hopes he stays with this techy vibe and drops that EDM bullshit." Do you know what EDM is? Electronic Dance Music. Techno is a part of EDM.
Techno is all over Spinnin these days. You heard of Doorn Records? Probably more mainstream than bigroom currently.
+Matt Gunn 'techno' labeled by some software...
djhousefaction Sander Van Doorn is with Spinnin. He's a Techno pioneer. He gave us loads of classics. And is bring it back with the likes of Cuba Libre, Tribal, and his whole label.
le meilleur set ever .
Great DJ great music!
Making home sets since before they were cool
idk ab anybody else but im having an ocd attack bc the mixer isnt in between the cdjs. oh joel
+Amay 6.022x1023 it can be easier to work this way, especially when you have other gear involved. There's no fixed rule about this.
+Amay 6.022x1023 ROFLMAO And I thought I was the only one! :P q:
***** obviously he prefers to work like this, i see that. i've been working with a certain setup for so long, its odd
+Amay 6.022x1023 kinda makes sense though- you always have the left hand use the mixer and the right hand use the CDJs. It looks unusual but I see where he's coming from with that setup.
tbh i knew i was gonna get mad responses by saying this so i can't really complain
this set is insane!!! Could easily be featured in drumcode live. It would be nice to see a b2b with adam beyer.
Pig and Dan-Growler at 14:00
You're still the Master! BTW, like your crib and the ATV. Also, I'm working on my first track and lifted your chords (genius btw! No worries though, it will never see the light of day), hope you don't mind. Really dig the analog gear you have.
Good guy mau5, doesn't put ads on his home set
