Headphones are used to beatmatch. He played the set on Ableton, which doesn't require any beatmatching.

@@whitejoker2453 ableton requires headphones or something to monitor when mixing in tracks... and if you look closely you can see a set of studio monitors that serve that purpose on both left and right side, hence no headphones

@@whitejoker2453 You can use headphones, but if you know your tracks you know exactly whats coming, I play techno using Traktor with sync on which is basically the same. I rarely use headphones.
I feel like Joel enjoys playing techno sets over his regular deadmau5 sets.
I think he does, because he has heard his own tracks thousands of times, you can still see some enjoyment at new tracks like monophobia. But with techno he has alot more freedom, playing songs from other artists and also you can have a lot more influence in a techno set with adding effects and playing multiple tracks at the same time which work great.
He definitely does. As much as it pains me, he seems to be kinda over being deadmau5.
i would prefere to watch a testpilot set over a normal deadmau5 concert
@@soultouchers4425 techno is also more technical to spin & produce. Most artists move from house to tech house/techno.
I went to an unhooked show of his and he played an hour of techno and an hour of deadmau5. It was the best of both worlds.
Just want to say I been loving TESTPILOT sets the past couple years. You can tell he really enjoys playing as TESTPILOT, always great to see the artist having fun

I thought that I was obsessed with Symbiosis, until I realized Joel plays it almost every time on his Testpilot alias. That song is an absolute masterpiece
im actually quite surprised with him, you know a musician/DJ has a true passion for music when they can adapt to other styles of electronic music, he even played a song here i thought was completely underground, very impressed, New Level of Respect for Joel.
