    As a teenager I got to ride in my uncle's 1970's 911 SC targa in light blue metallic. It was utterly glorious. I'll never forget it. This is the perfect Porsche. I hope to own one some day. Thank you.

      I remember as a young teen, the local police station had a Dark Green '68 Targa that they had impounded. It had no plates. It was in pretty good shape, not mint, but not a mess. I used to ride my bike and spend what seemed like hours just looking at it, in and out. Its funny what these cars can do, they make such a big impression.

    • @MrSlowestD16
      @MrSlowestD16 4 роки тому +1

      @@johnm3907 It's not really possible, unfortunately. On top of the fact that it simply won't sell to the average person, many of those things are legally required both in EU and US. Backup cameras are required now, traction control is required now. And you can make better TCS with fly-by-wire, and emissions are super strict now, and it's easier to pass those with fly-by-wire, which kills the pedal feel. Then you have modern-day roll standards, the car has to be able to withstand getting slammed upside down. So the A pillars get thicker, car gains weight, etc. Curtain airbags are now required, the list just keeps growing, which is why a Yaris is about as close as you can get to a bare-bones car.

      All that maneuvering with the camera truck is the reason they have a motorcycle escort. This is a formal road video shoot, which almost certainly requires a permit. Not all vehicles get or require this treatment. Some older videos are more simple with the camera truck staying in front or behind in normal lane traffic. Those didn't necessarily require a permit. If the vehicle is not licensed/registered or otherwise not street legal, a permit is required.
      If they're going to get a permit, they're going to make use of it and get much better shots than just the GoPro's stuck to the vehicle.
      (It's also possible that California and/or Burbank have changed some law recently that effectively requires Jay to get a permit for everything now.)

    Jay's comment regarding Analogue experience is on point. Humans aren't digital. The tech makes things efficient, but not necessarily more enjoyable to use.

      @PERIZ99 it is opinion. I get that. When you make 5 million a yr. 10 percent on a car isnt bad. When you make 30k a yr 3000 for a car isnt unrealistic. You just have to want it more to be able to susceed in corporate america. Work 8 to 10 hrs a day and then take online classes rather than getting drunk with your friends every night. Or take care of family at night and wake up 2 hours early every morning and get your classes done. Keep working at it and get the education you need to move off the line and into that office. Keep moving up the ladder. It's when you settle for what you have that you give up your dreams. So go buy a Porsche today, drain all the fluids. Put on blocks. Put zero miles on it and wait 30 years. What is that car going to cost. Way more than what you paid for it. So before you go off the handle 450k is cheap compared to a Lamborghini. And look at prices of a 4500 hr restoration of any car in that era. Singer is the best porsche restoration shop avaliable. There like swiss clock makers. So get into your 93 chevy lumina with 3 different color doors and go down to 711 and get yourself some Mickeys and complain you ain't got nothing. Or get to studying. It's never 2 late.

    HEY! I'm back, 3 years later! A gunmetal gray 1991 Porsche Carrera 964 Targa, by Singer. Almost my dream Porsche, DAMN close. I would want mine to have a black roll bar instead of the polished aluminum one, but this thing is pretty freaking close.

    To me, these Singer Porsches are about as cool as cars get. From the Porsche starting point, to the tasteful mods, the quality of work, everything. Of course, I could not afford one. And, even if I could, I would not feel comfortable driving such an expensive car.
    I do wish they had included the examination of the car stationary in Jay's garage. Not sure why they left that out here.

      Luke Wells Yeah. Those too! My favorite of the newer Targa’s are the red GTS models with the black GTS wheels. Such a classic look. Reminds me of a guards red ‘85 911 Targa with the black wheels with the polished rim.

      I was never a fan of targas or cabs. The old style targas are growing on me lately but the coupes still command the highest money.
