Jay, thank you so much for having my car on your show and for being so kind to my family and I at the filming. It was a once in a life experience that none of us will ever forget!! -John Lewin
Truth be told, that 911 is perfect. Slighty upgraded with ST flares but never going too far away from the original design. His Fuchs wheels in correct 15 inch size look great and the cars stance is perfect.
That is because all the 55-year-old mechanicals have been stripped out and replaced by better Porsche parts. There really isn't much left of the original car but the frame and some flared body panels. That paint is not 55 years old. That interior is not 55 years old.
The owner really is thrilled with jay’s reaction on what he thinks of the car. His face lights up like a Christmas tree. Nice to see. Good work on that old Porsche.
I truly appreciate Jay. I look forward to seeing him every week talk about this week’s pick and giving us a fantastic lesson on the history of the automobile. Such a wealth of information and insight. Thx again Jay.
Jay is one of the last few of my generation with the love of all things automotive and the passion for everything mechanical. So many just see the beauty of automobile design from the curb. The old guys like us notice the beauty of everything from the paint job and flares. We see the beauty and thought of the old engineers in something simple like the bolt and clamp holding the ignition coil on that old original beetle.
Absolutely lovely car. The quality of the resto-customness of the car is fantastic! John has great taste; the car is exactly what I would want! Thanks John, Jay, and The Crew for putting this episode out! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
A friend of mine who runs a channel here on UA-cam named Budget Buildz pulled a '73 Porsche out of a local junkyard that was set to be scrapped and he & his dad have totally rebuilt it. I believe you Porsche guys would really enjoy seeing the transformation they've done with it! And I have to mention that he's only like 27 years old!

Great 1969 911S ! I think the Porsche flares, wider rims, suspension & brake upgrades are perfect - although I admit, the car is in the family for several decades - if I had it when it was still original decades ago, I probably would have done the 930 style mechanical updates & leave it more original cosmetically, maybe sitting up 1 inch higher. 👍👏☝️💪💪💪 This also brings me back to when I was in autocross (was also called gymkhana back then) 1977 to 1980, with my 71 Opel Manta coupe - was always great to see the original 1960s-70s 911 cars come to the events, especially the PCA events; and working at a VW Porsche shop summers 1976-78.

Lots of comments about Jay not wearing his seat belt. Judging by the owner’s belt in the passenger seat, Jay could just be wearing the Simpson lap belts.

Seems like the perfect Porsche to me just some good mods to make it more fun. Really nice that its stayed in the family and his kids will get to enjoy it also.
I'll grant that it's a nice build, though had it been mine I would've preferred leaving it with the original S engine and drivetrain rather than put in a later SC transplant. I think I would've left it in the "midnight blue" as well, especially if my dad has chosen that paint-to-match color at the beginning. But right now it's his car and he's free to do with it as he pleases. And as long as he's happy with it who can really argue that it's wrong to restomod even a relatively rare variant like the 911S.

Thank You Jay for the videos !!!!!!
I love Jay, I hope he lives a long life. I sincerely hope he looks into the Japanese tech from holyhydrogen, it not only save my life, but changed my fathers life also. I hope he finds it and uses it. Live long and prosper Jay, love the channel and cars. I am a car guy thru and thru
This is cool. My dad and uncle worked at Bill Yates in the early 70's.
Great car ! I bought a 70 911 T in 1987 for 5500 sols it in about 93 for 6000 i wish I'd kept ot... silver with black interior... it was so far one of the funnest car ro drive !!
the '66 with the 2 litre and Webbers was a pure mechanical wet dream
Of all of the guys that have ever been on here, I wish when they got back Jay would have said you wanna go for a ride in mine?
Jay was actually kind enough to give us a personal tour of the entire place for more than an hour, and then took us out in his steamer which actually broke down twice during our ride. 🤣
Rarely do your heroes turn out to be the kind of people you hope they will be, but Jay surpasses expectations. A truly kind and decent man and incredibly knowledgeable!!
@johnlewin2389 That's super cool!
You were a great guest. I really liked how you asked him about his cars. We're all fans of Jay's and you showed it. I don't know any hundreds of millions millionaires but I doubt many are as good a guy as him.
And by the way I totally agree with your exterior and interior choices 👍
Now, I can afford to watch this one.
Yeh...over priced VW.

He is also caring for his wife Mavis - she has dementia, I can tell you that takes A LOT of his time! See my post(s) on the main thread.
What a fantastic car story!
I love old Porsches!
This car is the pinnacle of raw sports car performance 💥 Jay is from the old school when cars were dangerously fun “who needs seatbelts they just get in the way “😂buckle up kids ✅

Awesome Porsche! Thanks Jay. 😎👍😎
This is a true beauty!!!
Something seems a bit off with Jay today... I hope he is alright... He is more of a treasure than his entire collection.

Thats a special car in perfect condition
Thank You Dear Sir Jay Leno.
I have a 2019 Porsche 911 targa GTS. Im passing it to my son one day so he can tell stories about me and my passion like this.
Ugh
My dad handed me down his rusted out ‘73 Chevy Vega.
Yawn. You can’t even see the engine without removing the bumper.
You picked a good one!
Better suspension, better braking. Papa Jay's.
Beautiful
Jay,he said the dealer bought over German mechanics named Tony and then his son Marco.I think the dealer got lost in Italy when he found these guys.Mike the Greek
My old man, Tony Gerace, worked at Merlin Olsen Porsche in Encino when he came to LA from NYC. Then he moved over to Folmer Porsche/Audi for a short while before opening TLG Auto in 1978. He passed 7 years ago. I've been running TLG for roughly the last 20 years. -Marco
I had a 69 911E Targa, man I wish I still had that car!
My grandfathers axe: my father replaced the head and I replaced the handle.
Like my George Washington axe, it still occupies the same "space."
Otherwise this is completely original, and preserves his memory

Imagine missing a shift and drifting your f1 across two lanes and just casually mentioning it
Would have left it blue, myself. But still a cool ride!
I love the burgundy Interior with the silver exterior. In general, I love blues and gray's. But I really like this color scheme.
