There is no combination of words in the English language capable of describing how much I want this car
@First Last Performance wise? Some Ferraris are faster, some are slower. Emotionally? Sentimentally? This car makes cry tears of joy everytime I see it. It is essentially Porsche perfection, and that makes my inner Ferdinand happy.
@First Last This is a very specific thing. If you're not into air cooled Porsches you probably won't see the beauty. Of course Ferraris are special, and there's a lot of them that could absolutely compete and demolish a Singer, but this a special thing. It's meant for a fanatic (as Jay Leno said), same way a 250 GTO will probably make your knickers drop, this makes every Porsche fan giggle with joy.
@First Last Depends on your budget I suppose. I know German car prices are a bit mental, but generally you will find Audi's are cheaper. I don't know how insurance works over there but I assume an Audi or a Mercedes is quite expensive for a first car. Most importantly, don't listen to random people on the internet. Get in one, try it out, see what speaks to your heart, cause at the end of the day, you must like it, not the person waiting for the bus judging you.

$500,000
I love the honesty of the guy: "The cooling is from the GT3-RS, the water-cooled model. We spent 5000$ making it look pretty but it's basically a 300$ part"
Beurksman- The intake is from a watercooled gt3 .its still an air cooled motor
He's mocking that it cost $4700 to make it look...pretty.
@@nssherlock4547 he get's that.
beurksman That’s a Straight/True Answer.
A $ 300 Porsche part, what a deal....
I wish Rob would go back on tour. He's an amazing singer.
Im not a huge Porsche fan but wow I can see what a beautiful masterpiece this is. And that man has a passion that only a few other have. A true artist
I love cars. I am obsessed with them. Old and new. I was born in Southern California and, in high school, I loved pulling my Volkswagen Beetle into the driveway to wash it on warm breezy day.
Fast forward 15 years. I moved to NYC to be an artist. I am carless and it's killing me. I feel stuck. Trapped on this island with no way out. Rental cars are not the answer. They are lifeless. My only respite is to spend countless hours researching and dreaming about cars through this inflexible glowing screen.
From the Toyota Prius to the Rolls Royce Phantom, all cars are noble expressions of human engineering, ingenuity, and creativity. For me, however, there is one car that sits at the apex of all others.
If I can own just one automobile in the world it would be a Porsche by Singer, specifically the 911 Targa. I do not say this flippantly. Yes, the 911 Targa is a masterpiece at the level of Michelangelo's Pieta. It's sculpture meets open air motoring. Every curve, every detail is excruciatingly crafted. It is so beautiful that, upon a glance, Medusa herself would turn to stone.
My hairs stand up on the back of my neck. My arms and legs go numb. My whole body trembles. I weep.
In the end, I don't know how I will ever be able to afford a Porsche by Singer. Now my dream becomes my nightmare...
There is no doubt I feel your frustration. This is more than a dream car!
These are some beautiful words, my friend.
Thank you.
You should be a writer. You have a very elegant way with words and sentences, and the way you get so descriptive. The way you feel about this Porsche while I love this car as well, is the way I feel about the 95-99 F355 Ferrari. Gorgeous.
Beautiful words, friend. I'd like to share my experience here, too:
I love automobiles. Mostly classic ones, some new. I was born in Northwest Araçatuba city (530km from Sao Paulo City-Brazil). I have always been the best in school, super smart and intelligent, but things changed.
I had a big depression for 7 years (from 15yrs to 22yrs). I felt I lost everything, I was not the best anymore, but I still got something in me that keept me going (thanks to one japanese Life Philosophy). I moved to Sao Paulo (capital) when I was 22, and I'm 26 now. I've been travelling around the world, been visiting more than 8 countries, and I'm going to japan for the third time. I'm working on what I love for the past years (i'm self taugh 3d artist) and I have big projects with big clients.
But, I still have no car. Brazil suffered a big crisis in the past years, and things were not great, super inflation, democrats ruining the country (for 13 years) and so on. Also, cars in Brazil have ridiculous taxes, like, a Ford Fusion costs 40,000 usd, and a classic Porsche targa, around 120,000 usd.
If it's hard to get a regular car, imagine for a sports classic one. The less I have, is the more I want. I've never been so determined as now. So conscient as now. It's 00h30am on a saturday and I'm listening this video while I work. I'm doing 10x more than a average brazilian would do. I really want a Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer.
Be blessed you are in US. Free market, makes it easier. Our frustantion, is certanly taking ourselves further. Change your mind, and you can change your environment you live in.
I've kept you in our prayers, for amazing support and care you received while at the hospital. And your speedy recovery Mr.Leno...I'm thankful you are out and about, and enjoying your classics cars once again! God Bless you.
Singer, creating Porsches with true love for them. Put heart and soul into a car and the results are just... great.
You can sleep in a car, but you can't race a house.
Funny and true
Been there.
Are you talking about that movie or video of that guy who lived in his Porsche??LOL
Unfortunately a Singer costs a lot more than the average house. Starting at $300K plus the donor car. BTW does anyone race a Singer?
My new favourite quote
Jay ordered his own two days after this was recorded.;;;
+jean-michel HERBERT Cool, I hadn't heard that before. Are they done with it yet and is there any details available?
+jean-michel HERBERT proof?
+jean-michel HERBERT Lucky so and so! If I were him I'd do the same thing.
+jean-michel HERBERT well that was two years ago when this video was uploaded, so if he did he should have it by now. I haven't heard a thing however. I would think he would have posted it on the website.
+jean-michel HERBERT You all fell for THAT one! :) - Indeed, I would have bought a bespoke Singer instead of some of Jays other stuff, but then I'm not Jay! tastes differ.
BIG "Catherine Wheel" fan!
Super happy for him.
Jay gave a glowing review.
Thanks to both of you!!
All the best.
Catherine Wheel was a criminally under rated band. A unique, sonically melodic band that I was able to see live, and selfishly, glad that they didn't become "huge" and go the way of say...Coldplay. Rob Dickinson rules!
First thing I thought was 917. Not because of the Gulf blue and orange paint but because of the valance under the front bumper. It looks like the air intakes of the Long Tail 917, my favorite. Love the engine plenum and matching fan blades. The interior is magnificent. The car is Perfect. A modern vintage Porsche. More jewelry than car.
hey santa if your watchin can you put that under the tree,
evenflow919 theres a big pine tree next to the driveway, just in case,
Mustie1 x
Send Kylie Minogue along with it Santa baby. On the other hand, on second thought, just send the car.
If had the means I'll get 5 in different colors
HE WILL BRING YOURS RIGHT AFTER HE DELIVERS MINE !
Can't describe the level of respect I have for Jay on how it's is able to convey in words the experience of such an exceptional car.
Love ya Jay.
Although I am by no means a porsche expert, I can't help but think of how Singer could do wonders to an old and tired 993, arguably the greatest air cooled iteration of Porsche's 911 of all time. With it's sumptuous curves and small delicate frame, the 993 could represent the basis of Singer's progression to a newer generation of 911's. That being said, the porsche 964 has proven to be quite a successful foundation upon which to build such an amazing specimen of a vehicle.
"Sell your house and buy this car." Well said, Jay. Well said. Dickinson and Singer really knocked it outta the park with this design. Fantastic.
This is incredible. It's genuinely beautiful - you might go on and on about performance and whether or not you'd have this or a new 911, but this isn't supposed to be an alternative, it's a designed to complement other 911s. You'd take this out now and then and every single time you'd feel like a king. And I would wager that anyone who owns one of these owns at least one other 911 as well. As Jay said mid way in "this is fanaticism."
This might be the perfect car.
Cereal Killa totally
Porsche 911 R?
Best looking car in the history of the world.
Might? No, it is the perfect car.
And then they make the DLS
This guy just stole my soul!
What a wonderfully built car. I think Porsche would have approved and even wobbled a bit at the detail, attention to balance and materials used.
If I was to find $500k laying around for a vehicle to enjoy and admire this is what I would buy. I would love one in pearl white and black accented trim.
I'm still drooling. Damn you Jay...
There was a huge group of singer 911s at the monterey historics this year and oh my god they were amazing. I get chills when i think about seeing them in person. They are insanely expensive but worth every penny.
Jay really conveyed well what Singer is all about. A man can only dream of owning one of these masterpieces.
I love that he called out Magnus Walker for what he is - a "one man marketing machine". It's ridiculous that Magnus' STR II sold for over $300k, but it's all down to his very careful, slick marketing of his 'outlaw' image. There's no comparison between his piecemeal 911s and Singer's perfection - I know which would get my money
Yep. If I won tonights $30 million lotto, I'd be flying over to Rob and handing over a deposit. Probably for 2 cars! People whinge and moan about the Singer Porsche saying it's sacrilege to modify a 911. Why? There are thousands of cars that just sit in garages all around the world collecting dust by owners who don't give a shit. Magnus' STR was sold at such a high price because someone jumped on his bandwagon just so they could say it was Magnus' car. He's a cool bloke and I like his builds, yet it's been done before and that STR was not worth $300k! As Rob said, it's all about marketing for the mildly eccentric MW. A lot of people would be very surprised at how cheap a good 911 is to buy and modify. I know because I have a 912 I'm restoring now, and I'm far from rich! Singer is obviously out of the reach of most people, but for the Porsche enthusiast like me, it just doesnt get any better than a Singer. I'll take mine in Slate grey thanks Rob, right hand drive and delivered to South Australia please! No matching luggage though thanks
leesmartin Definitely. I liked Jay's video on Magnus Walker, when Jay didn't seem too impressed when he was looking at the fake louvered rear windows, and Magnus said they were just for looks. Also, I think it's funny when Magnus talks about some of his 'custom' work, including drilled door handles - no Magnus, Singer is 'custom' work - you're just a man with a drill
I'm a fan of anyone that can build a car.... especially those that take the best parts and bring them together as one.
"you can sleep any where, but this is a drive" love that and totally agree
Rob is what makes cars amazing. He knows the car he loves and has such a zeal for it that he can make a person (like me) who does not care about a 911 care. You can see his love and excitement about the car throughout the entire interview.
Hands down, the most perfect and beautiful porsche I have ever seen.
LOOK FOR THE GREEN , SINGER 9 1 1
! ! ! FORREST GREEN .
Just watched this again, this car is magnificent !
I've been dieing to find out what these cars sound like. Thank you for this amazing video and for showing us how these cars can truly come to life on the road!
Great decision to feature this rare beauty. Thanks Jay and I was hoping that you had already placed your order for one of these Singer 911's. Just awesome
Jay's exactly right, I had to show the wife. "If there isn't a park spot in front, we're not eating there."
No one drives my car, I don't drive a Porsche but my baby's not getting driven but by me.
I’m sure your Chrysler 300 would be fine
That is one beautiful car!! Love the interior, love the updated interior, updated engine and lightweight materials.
Not a Porsche fan but you can tell that the car is a loveletter to Porsche from true fans. Gorgeous
Saw this car on Top Gear, definitely in my top 5 cars I want to own the most.
Do you like it more than the Ruf CTR though?
Portabledexter . The Yellowbird was a completely different machine. It was a super hardcore stripped out race car for the street. Apples and oranges.
I caught chills from the beauty of this car. I hope the owner in Dubai takes care of her. Crazy to think that not only would it take +$500,000 to get something like this, but also quite some time before your build is actually done. I'm not sure how many hours a week your specific car would be worked on but +4000 hours is a long time regardless.
airlopez21 Those are man hours...10 people, 400 hours each for example.
Sweet looking Porsche. A feast for my eyes! I've always loved these vintage Porsches. I love the classic shape of the early 911s. I love the craftsmanship that went into building this car. They kept the essence of the 911 sports car, they upgraded the air-cooled boxer engine. They improved what needed to be done. I like that.
Brilliant piece of craftsmanship. I love it when passion seeps from whatever something someone does. These re-imagined Porches are no exception.
19:24 A beautiful, heartfelt summing up by Jay, a true petrol head who appreciates the love and dedication Singer put into all of their cars ; )
If I could have any car, it would be a Singer Porsche. Well, maybe a 918 Spyder. I donno. I really love these Singer re-works though. I remember seeing it first on Top Gear BBC, and have been in love with them since. Cheers.
Antoine Jameson Yeah. Which would you rather have? A fully tricked out Singer made exactly to your personal preferences, or a 918? Remember, you'd never be able to get close to the 918's limits on the street... we can only go so fast in the real world. I know it's not really fair to compare the Singer to the 918, they're totally different animals. The 918 is one of the fastest cars in the world right now and is loaded with technology that is suitable for the space program, while the Singer is more of a peice of jewlrey you can drive. Which one would it be? Here's another question... Mclaren 650S, Ferrari 458, or Lamborghini Huracan?
Honestly, I think I'd have to go with the 918. When I think about tricking out the Singer, all I can picture is making the interior as much like the 918 as possible. And then I think about that dual lifted exhaust, firing out blue flames in racing mode and... yeah, I just want it. This would feel like a consolation prize. The best consolation prize possible, but still.
Antoine Jameson How about the McLaren 650S vs Ferrari 458? How do you feel about the McLarens in general, the 12C, the new 650, the P1... I honestly think the 650S is the best all-around sports car on the market right now.
Hmm... I think the 650S is ugly as hell (except in black), but performs like a beast. The 458 is sexy as hell, and performs much the same (especially the Speciale).
Given McClaren's reputation for performance over comfort, I'd probably side with the Ferrari here (exhibiting loads of both, as it does). BUT, my actual answer is sort of "neither", because I cannot stand those flappy panelled gear boxes. Make it a true manual, and I'll take the 458.
What about the Lambo Huracan?
First Chris Harris does his take on this gorgeous piece of art and now Jay.
Orgasmic.
I was just about to mention Chris and his review. He spent a little more time in Rob's shop and his driving style is a bit more "enthusiastic" but both reviews touched on the absolute obsession that Rob's people apply to this creation. The only way I'll ever have one will be the result of a VERY nice day with the "Power Ball Investment Program!!!" OK, we can all dream a little bit. ;^)
Actually James May did a segment on the singer years ago.
Really enjoyed this video guys! Its rare to see a car that makes Jay take a moment and really articulate how well crafted it is. That`s an impressive feat by itself! Kudos to the creative director and his team; I really enjoyed seeing his passion and enthusiasm!!
Absolutely gorgeous. Love the colors too. Man this is a rockin' car.
The guest guy is a proper Porsche guy, coked out of his mind haha. Masterfully done beautiful 911 though...WOW!
+TyGuy The Dog His brother is the lead singer of Iron Maiden..... No doubt he's coked out!
+cromulentparty Bruce Dickinson was never a druggie, he is an airline pilot now, so to say that he is the reason his brother is "coked out" is unsubstantiated.
+TyGuy The Dog Only somebody who's only seen coked up people in movies would think that. That's not what it looks like.
+TyGuy I get a little fidgety when I'm nervous too and I've never touched coke.
+cromulentparty theyre actually cousins, not brothers.
Re 19:38
$350,000 / 4000 hrs = $87.50 per hr
That's pretty good in my book.
GrecoRoman123 parts
oversheads
It would be pretty good if the workshop and utilities were free, no shop or employee insurance, free upholstery, free paint, free ....
Spend $350,000 on an airplane to fly to vegas, above traffic. That's even better.
Probably one of the most beautiful and BEST 911`s i have ever seen.
This is so close to Perfection as it can get.
Piece of Art.
Thank you Jay and all you guys who make this show! We dont get amazon tv ( or whatever the hell they call themselves ) here in Finland and since Top Gear got cancelled i've got no idea what to watch for when it comes to car programming. So this is brilliant!
Jay, just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New year. But, more than that, thank you for showing so many great vehicles. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, all of it just awesome. Thanks again and please keep it going.
No one should be allowed to have that much fun.
Merry Xmas Jay.
Pure art in my opinion! Beautiful sound and very elegant looks. I'm sold!
I visited Singer.... Wonderful design and detail and one hell of a car, all of them. I was thoroughly impressed and enjoyed talking with Rob. Great work. Period.
"Sell your house, you can sleep anywhere!" LOL
And what with that fitted suitcase set you'd be all set.
KryzMasta
You can order it with a roof rack and a leather suitcase if you order the Touring version. So that's easy enough.
All these vids are so well done. Good job jay! And good job to the film and edit guys as well :)
I almost didn't watch this episode because I thought it was a another normal Porsche 911, I am so glad I did. Wow what crasftmanship. I wish I could afford one.
Jay,
Thanks so much again for allowing us to experience a great car. I'm also glad that recently you've been (seeemingly) challenging your guests statements.
This truly is my dream car and I've been dreaming of cars since early 70's R&T and riding with Ron Wakefield as a young man.
Such a sexy car. Everything is just precise and gorgeous. That shape, the materials, the interior, the suspension, the braking system, right down to the motorsport DNA. I love it. Watch the Chris Harris Singer 911 video, they go more in depth with the car and its assembly.
I never be a Porsche fan but, this car is INCREDIBLY Beautiful!!!
Is the BEST Porsche EVER!!!
Best Jay Leno's garage episode I ever watched!
nicest Porsche ive ever seen, hands down
This could be the perfect 911 for us! Way to go Rob & team at Singer Vehicle Designs! Nice review Jay!
I love how you can see little design cues from more than just the 964 all over the car. Really, very well executed! As for spending at or near $500k on a 911, even if I could afford it, I would be terrified of getting hit while driving it.
You can see the joy on the Art Director's face when they pull back into the garage.
He's truly passionate about his job.
The most beautiful cars I have ever seen. Singer has won, everyone else can go home.
This is beautiful
that is a beautiful piece of art!
Beautiful car and outstanding work. I could not say better words about this Company, and I didn't even drive this machine. Just an awesome piece of work...
I love cars. I am obsessed with them. Old and new. I was born in Southern California and, in high school, I loved pulling my Volkswagen Beetle into the driveway to wash it on warm breezy day.

Not sure if this was mentioned but @ $400,000 for materials and labor not including the donor car, thats not such a bad deal. Unless im missing something, that's $100/hr for this level of craftsmanship.
Wow thats a nice porsche, Ive always liked the older ones better than the newer ones.
that´s a singer with the best of all 911 in one ,i would prefer this to a real porshe they feel perfect, and reconized by porshe
Jay, thanks for these great videos. I love the car and also the videos. Keep them coming.
The Porsche of Porsches. Amazing. Singer forever...
Brilliance, absolute brilliance. I'm not a fan of exclusivity for it's own sake.... so Mr Rob Dickinson... please find a car manufacturer or put together a manufacturing team and proceed to build this by the dozens to 1) make a lot more money and 2) bring the price down for us mere mortals.
The Singer Porsche was nice but I couldn't take my eyes off the Bugatti 57SC Atlantic in the background! It's so beautiful, rare and expensive, selling for over 30 million dollars at an auction in 2010. So yeah, kinda forgot about the Singer there for a while! :P
Riles07 Only $400K? Bloody hell, I'll take three.
Riles07 It's O.K., I was just having a laugh about the price of all these cars, and the fact I will never have any chance of owning one. Have a good weekend. :-)
Jay Leno's car collection is just nuts. I also noticed that beauty.
My idea for 'fitted' luggage' in my 1981 911 SC were a helmet bag (originally for my flight helmets) plus a USN/USAF standard parachute bag. Both bags were conformable to whatever space they were stuffed into- perfect for either the front boot or the rear fold-down seats.. The BEST car I've ever owned. Period.
Just 3 guys doing what they love....and the car that comes out the other end is perfection with love.
i love the body shapes and the colors are so fucking rich...beautiful
This car, with the newest GT3 RS engine (or even better: 918) and a setup of a GT would probably be my perfect car. Not going to happen (for a various of reasons) but a man can dream!
Oh my GOD these are some of the most beautiful cars I have EVER seen. Unbelievable.
id lose my mind if I could ever buy or get one of these.....I love Porsches and this is incredible upgrade by Singer
"Something built like a rolex" Perfect
Just remember to have it serviced by a master and keep it wound up!
Rolex is self-winding
what an elegant car, such a beauty. Probally lovely to drive
The ultimate Porsche lovers car! :D
This car is awesome enough for me to watch nearly 20mins worth of Jay Leno (a new a personal best)
I love this guys approach to cars.
Another beautiful car goes to Dubai. A year from now we will see it parked in a lot with 3 inches of sand on it, in some abandoned car video on You Tube!
But before that happens somebody already swapped those beautiful wheels for some gold plated ones....
pit32s: And they will ask Rob for diamond-plated shifting knobs as well.
Especially now as they are manipulating the price of oil down... lol
they have so much money they have to give to the world free oil
I could only imaging owning this thing
This car is in my daily prayers🙏🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏽🙏🏼🙏
And on the wishlist.
I love Catherine Wheel. I love Porsches. Tow of my favorite things from one guy. Nice.
by far the most beautiful car that has ever been built
just beautiful
I saw a Singer DLS at Sears Point (Sonoma Raceway) a few weeks ago. It was lust at first sight. Amazing cars!
Rob is an credible guest. His ability to describe the car and build process was great. Inspired me to want 2 !
One important thing we miss in modern day cars : thin A pillars. Today most cars have fat ass A pillars. But this, its just brilliant...i would say ' Its Reborn'
Problem is they crashtest cars today and set high demands on what they have to do good etc so everything has to be designed for safety first if you don't make small ammounts like this or newer more exotic cars.
HachiZenki You get more strength/weight out of a larger diameter tubing than going to a higher spec material. Either BMW or Merc was actually experimenting with an A-pillar that had an explosive charge in it that would go off in a rollover and expand the diameter so that they could get away with a smaller profile during the rest of the car's lifetime, giving the benefit of better visibility without sacrificing safety. Google on "expanding A-pillar".
HachiZenki Every single car on the new car dealer's lot these days has an explosive charge in the steering wheel hub and another in the passenger's dash aimed right at your face. And perhaps a few in the doors to keep you safe in T-bone collisions.
And, if you are going to put a car shiny-side down on the pavement, it's probably a write-off. So, your suddenly 'hydroformed' A-pillars are probably not an issue from an aesthetic POV.
Markle2k
Markle2k the r ex a.
They should do this to a 944
I've done this to my 90 S2 Cabriolet.
Truly awesome upgrade
After seeing the gaping bumper vents and giant wheels, the size of the current 991, I understand why Singer has a market.
I wish hot wheels would produce a die cast model of this exact model. Very cool ride. :))
I think Jay wants one.
A complicated mechanical watch is the only thing that feels as mechanical,as analogue and as engineered as a Singer 911. No other car comes close, utterly brilliant.
Its exactly what James May said. "It's a Love letter to Porsche." What a beautiful car the guys at Singer has built.
Jay, You have such an awesome channel and it's always fun to watch but the sound sometimes drives me crazy! So much video production and zero accounting for audio. Loud quiet loud quiet
Great car, It resembles a RSR race car without looking stupid for street use.
There are 4 beautiful things to me. My wife, my son, my daughter, and any Singer Porsche
Simply immaculately built, fantastic color combination and cabin atmosphere. To put it in a positive light with fitted luggage is maybe just think of them as extra gifts/souvenirs from the automaker.
