One lesson that really hit me was learning to let go of things outside my control. It took me years to realize how much peace that simple shift could bring, but better late than never!
It's so true that our jobs don't define us. Society often ties our worth to titles and careers, but true freedom comes from realizing we're more than what we do for a living. Has anyone else had this wake-up call?
I disagree, my job defines me and I identify with it. I'm a teacher, teaching is my vocation. I love it. I've been teaching for three decades, I'll never retire because I'm self-employed.
I agree! Stoicism teaches such valuable lessons about focusing on what we can control and accepting what we can't. It's amazing how much peace and resilience it can bring to everyday life. How has it helped you the most?
Being 'nice' is not the same as having boundaries. It took me a long time to realize that standing up for yourself is a form of self-respect, not selfishness. How do you all maintain balance between kindness and self-respect?
Love isn't enough Love alone can't sustain a relationship. Without communication, respect, and trust, love is like a Band-Aid on a sinking ship. Sometimes, the hardest but healthiest choice is walking away, even if love is still there.
Yes right. Love is important, but it's just one part of the bigger picture. A relationship also needs trust, understanding, and continuous effort from both sides to truly thrive. Walking away when necessary doesn't mean the love wasn't real-it just means the relationship needed more than love alone could provide.
Love alone isn't enough to make a relationship work, and realizing that can be both freeing and heartbreaking. What other life lessons do you think we often learn too late?
Burning the candle at both ends. That's me. I try to work on not doing that. Then end up doing it. Idk how many times I have gotten so sick that I couldn't move. Yet, I still do it
I have realized and been saying this in the last 2 years after I realized my company or bosses didn’t give 2 hoots about me as long as I got the job done. You sound like you were a lot like me. 😅😅
It sounds like your sister is really dedicated to her job, but maybe she's just so passionate about what she does that it consumes most of her time. It can be easy to fall into that kind of routine when you love your work. Hopefully, she gets time for herself outside of work too.
@@AncientWisdom79 -- Thank you.... and thank you for this podcast! --- She used to be fun and still can be. I'm glad she loves her job - it is just hard to be around. Bless you. It didn't occur to me that you had time to read the posts!
@@Sally150 You're very welcome! I was watching the video so I read the comments. It can be challenging when someone we care about is so focused on their work. Maybe finding an activity you both enjoy could help bring back some of that fun. Wishing you and your sister all the best!
Time waits for no one, and we need to stop making excuses and take action now. Great lessons to live by.

The way you push for action and living boldly is uplifting. It feels like a gentle but firm nudge toward a better life.

Stoicism isn’t just a philosophy; it’s a way of life! I find it helps me a lot. 💫

Appreciable and very practical

My sister IS HER JOB. She loves it and she's boring. She's done nothing but work or wait for work, for 30 years.
