UA-cam said my description is too long, so I'm writing it here: I’ve been feeding infusoria to the fry. They were doing fine, and then all of sudden I couldn’t see them anymore. At one point when the fry were swimming around, I fed the tank some live brine shrimp and the female ate the brine shrimp near the fry. That's when the male started attacking her. I think the male thought the female ate the fry. That’s my best guess why they didn’t like each other anymore. I think removing the parents when the fry are free swimming is the best way. For the heating pad, there are too many things to consider to actually work. You must have a temperature controller, IMO. There’s no literature on what wattage you would need to heat a specific volume of water in certain range of ambient temperature. Also, the thick substrate made it a very slow process. I think it literally took all day to raise a few degrees. I ended up using the regular glass heater and the heating pad together. The final placement for the temp sensor is at the very bottom of the tank. The main reason I wanted to use a heating pad is b/c the soil was colder than the water column for a long time and it affected the overall health of the tank. There are some links in the description if you want to check it out.
Foo the Flowerhorn great videos, very relaxing. Love to watch the progress. And a problem i had before was the shrimps eat the fry. Never thought it could happen till i started losing them 1 by 1 and witnessed it myself lol
I mean yeah, the life and marriage of the two fish, the shrimp groups, the nerite and his snail friend, this show has alot of well developed characters that you grow attached to.
At this point I think of the nerite as an old secondary character on TV dramas who mess with nobody but knows too much about everybody's life in secret.
My house was in the neighborhood off of Kirkwood just south of memorial. Stayed 6 ft of water in there for almost two weeks. Glad you got out alive friend ♥️
You inspired me to try my hand (again, sort of) at actual fish keeping. I have been toying with the idea of doing aquaponics to supplement my own grocery list during my growing months but decided to halt until I had a better understanding of the fish and the nitrogen cycle first hand. I tried to get some croaking gourami (The same type you have in your videos), but was sent the wrong fish from the seller I ordered from. Instead I received a handful of Opaline Gourami for a 10g tank. Turns out that's not good. Only one was left by the end of the week I got them. One was a clearly dominant male and made his ownership of the tank obvious. Well, almost a year later, and I now have a 30 gallon tank with the same Opaline as the featured fish. I also have 5 Sterbai cory cats, 7 harlequin rasboras and a pitbull pleco eating up all the algea. I have never been happier as a work at home guy. They sit next to my home office and I watch them all day long and they are a blast.
YES. Always a good day when you make a new vid. And how TF do you have too long of a description on youtube....? Isn't that what descriptions are meant for....?
I've Watched all this series you've created about this aquarium and you're congratulating it, it's very good, the videos and all the work you've been having.
Your sweet potato betta tank was in my recommends about a week ago. I used to have an aquarium, but i was very bad at the upkeep. The walls would be murky (when with Oto cats) and i never did water changes frequently enough. This series has brought back some of that joy back for me. Thank you for this calm and beautiful series. Keep up the great work!
This video puts me in ameditative state.Watching it is like mini vacation with nature. I like your videos, the sound and the captions. The zoom-ins are cool. The green color background of your pets is soothing to the eyes.
When you say wild snails I picture them creeping into the aquarium from your sinks and drains stealthily sneaking sneeeeaaaakkiiinnnggggg until JACKPOT THEY MAKE IT IN! Love your channel so much.
Hey, im watching your videos since month 3 and i am very happy evry time you release a new one. Very good work, super relaxing music and great inspiration. I love your videos
Not fighting again! These guys are why I changed my mind about getting sparkling Gourami. I love them but for my own tanks I much prefer peaceful fish. I even get annoyed when the neons chase each other lol. I recently got some hornwort though! It’s still in quarantine but I have high hopes for it. My frogbit is almost all gone now for some reason though
I love the way how you nurture the creatures and manage valuable time for caring. P:S. Incredible choice of Music. So relaxing, releases the antioxidant from mind.
Very nice, you do a very hard job in maintaining everything properly,You see that you like what you do, keep going so ... I will follow the following clips
Another month arealy passed!? omg. It was a good decision to remove the pair, if not, probably will pass the same like the last time and one die; anyway, thank u for another video!!
I love the story you go into with all of this. Been following your progress for a while. You should give Badis Badis a go given how much micro life you have in the tank!
Bcuz of my current situation, i can't have my own fish tank. But i love to imagine my fish tank in my head while watching your lovely videos. Thanks a lot and plz send my regard to ur tiny friends. :)
yay, another vid! thank you for this! but, that cliffhanger at the end though! next on: where are the other fry? have the shrimps conquered the tank? find out next time on.....

Your English isn't very bad, it's a really sweet comment and it made me smile 😊
The only offspring of the tank tyrant...what a legacy it has to live up to. Can't wait for the next update. This is my new favorite drama.
"I can see a fry"
Me squinting: WHERE
That lone fry is like a survivor in a post apocalyptic movie..
Especially since with those shrimps running around
At this point I think of the nerite as an old secondary character on TV dramas who mess with nobody but knows too much about everybody's life in secret.
I'm pregnant and your videos help me relax, they mean a lot to me. Your cinematography is beautiful
I found these videos after losing every thing in hurricane Harvey to be a comforting thing.
