I'm a highschooler who's about to graduate and even I couldn't comprehend almost half of the things shown in that clip..
It's infinite series.
Just add a bunch of term according to a formula (where each term follows a patern) and as you add more terms, it gets closer to a specific number.
It's usefull because addition and multiplication is simpler to use then other stuff. So converting to infinite sums is practical as an in between steps or for approximating answer with arbitrary precision.
The formula itself was meaningless as it didn't have variables. It was just number on both sides.

The thing is that since the terms gets smaller and smaller, and as you add more term, it gets closer and closer to the real thing.
Depending on your needs, one or two term might be good enough. And solving differential equations simplified to order 1 makes the difference between something easy and somethinf that takes a PHD and 20 hours to solve or is just straight impossible.
Whats a differential equation: Literally every equations in physics are differential equations. What you've seen in high school are (the solution) those with trivial solutions.
So if you wanna do anything, you need to solve one of them. But that can br hard if more complicated functions are introduce.
Tl;DR, Their value isn't that people use all of the infinite terms. It's that you can just use a few of them... (It depends on your need and you can use simple analysis to find just how
much).
TL;DR #2, They might not usefull in your daily life, but they'll be usefull in the smart kids (If he takes a job in stem).
Taylor series. Fourrier series. Laurent series. I use them like 5-10 times a day.
